Moving Central SLD from XI Development to XI Production ?

Hi,
Please advise what is the impact of changing Central SLD from XI Development to XI Production Server.
Because during initial installation the XI production still not available so our Basis only install SLD in our XI development server and other SAP development like FI, BW also pointing to this SLD.
now the XI production is ready. could i just install new SLD in production and changes all connection from
dev to prod ?
Please advise on the step that i have to do.

Unlike Queries, usually workbooks are saevd either under a role or under Favourites. So if you have saved the your workbooks under a role, you need to have that role assigned to you to view the workbooks. The roles and profiles might be quite different in dev and QA because of authorisations, so look into them carefully. If the developer saves the workbook as a favorite can you still transport it and see it? After transporting the workbooks you will need to retransport the roles they are assigned to. Once the roles are transported after the Workbook transport ..all the workbooks are visible.. The rule is to transport the roles only once and never after, else all workbooks contained in that role in the target system will be wiped out.
Just for safety sake, it is a good idea to maintain all the workbooks on a secure location, so that in case they are wiped out, you can use these to re-establish them. We create our workbooks directly in production.You can also confirm this by going to RSA1 -> Transport Connnection -> Click on Object Types -> Expand Query Elements -> Query -> double click Select Objects -> Search by your query Technical name -> Transfer. Once you get ur Query and all its object in the righmost box, under Transport request column you should see the Request number that you have created for all the query elements you have changed. If this is not the case then you assign it by checking the transport box for the query and Transport button

Sending only desired things from bi development to bi production

i am trying to transport infoarea,infoobject catalog and infoobjects through one request but when i am cliking only on infoobject cataloog and sending the request, i am geting all the other things like infocube,transformation etc though i am not selecting them?
pls tell me how to send only those things which we want to send.

Please do as follows:
1) Go to transport connection
2) Select your objects and place them on right hand side
3) Select only neccessary objects
4) Manual collection
5) Run the execute button
6) assign a package
7) on the other screen check only objects that you would like to transport
8) Transport the same request to production

How to port database changes from development to a production environment

How do I port database changes from the development to the production environment?
I am using v8 and have always had to redo everything using the schema manager all over in the production environment. Is there an easy way to generate a script, for example to dump the database changes on the development machine to be executed later on the production machine?

This should already be a clearly defined change control process. Once a procedure, function, package, trigger, or whatever completes the testing rounds, it should be promoted to production.
Forgive me if it seems I'm trivializing, but I don't see the problem, just copy the object(s) from your software library (or development) into production using whatever tool works best or has been chosen. If you are doing data copies then you have various options again including good old export/import.

Transport from development server to production server in BW

Switching from central SLD to local SLD

Could I switch back from cetral sld to local sld?

Yes you can change the SLD configuration from local to central or a vice versa...

Local sld pull from central sld

We are in the process of configuring a brand new sp19 solution manager server. We have a central sld on a dedicated server with several systems already registered on it I created a local sld on the new solution manager server. I want to pull the systems from this central sld server into the solution manager server, but cant' seem to find any documentation on how to do it.
I've read the SLD planning guide, the sld post-installation guide,, and the sld user guide. If there are any steps that document how to do this, I've missed them.
Can anybody help?

On your central SLD: Administration -> Data Suppliers -> Add SLD...
Type in URL, valid user and pass and that should be it. It works this way on SLD based on NW70.

Switching from local to central SLD

I installed the ESS business package with a local SLD. Now there is another SLD server we need to use (a central SLD instance). Can we switch easily from an existing local SLD instance to a remote SLD instance?

It's a while since this message was created. Have you solved your problem? I have our SLD's set slightly differently to the suggestion made earlier, although I would say that I'm an expert in this area. For dual stacks I have the CIM.... tab pointing at itself and the HTTP tab pointing at the central SLD. This seems to work for us in all cases where there is a dual stack. We are having a few issues in java only systems which we are trying to solve. At present both tabs point to the central SLD and "seem" to be working!!

SRM SWCV not geting synched up in CMS from Central SLD

Hi,
We set up SRM SWCV in Central SLD and using that in Dev system.
We want to transport this SWCV from Dev to QA using CMS.When we are trying to do this transport we are getting error and the reason is there is no entry of SRM stuff in CMS.
Our CMS is pointing to Central SLD and when we are trying to Update CMS it is pulling all other SWCV s from Central SLD except SRM stuff..So we couldn't add SRM SWCV in CMS...
So,please let us know what we are doing wrong...or Should we approach differently to load SRM content in QA systems..

I am completely disappointed because my articles from Nokia Developer Wiki was moved to TechNet Wiki and I wasn´t notified....and of course it do mess, because I saved my articles to publish here and I just published some of them...and now I have cloned
articles!! The owner should be notified and the article should be set to the owner profile, at least for how has it here...
Some writers from Nokia Developer Wiki moved to here and I think the work should be respected, I saw the credits at bottom but wasn´t linked to the profile, really sad....

First of all, that's pretty awesome (the monthly winners and whatnot). They did that 100% manually. We'll see if we can find them and if they want to continue anything like that for Windows Dev articles on TNWiki.
Second of all, it's kind of crazy. There are ZERO links from those weekly and monthly winner lists to your profile or any of the articles! Very high contrast to our Guru awards, where every article and author is called out and each one has a link.

How to link XI-Development to the central SLD on XI-Production?

Hi,
we have a two systems landscape with XI-DEV and XI-PROD.
So far, we have used the SLD on XI-DEV.
Now we want to use one central SLD that is running on XI-PROD for all developments on XI-DEV.
What is necessary to to that (any documentation available?
1. First we have done an export/import to copy all technical and business systems to the central SLD.
2. Then we have set the following parameters in the exchange profile (Section Connections) of XI-DEV:
 com.sap.aii.connect.cr.name: Host of XI-PROD
 com.sap.aii.connect.cr.httpport: Port of XI-PROD
 com.sap.aii.connect.landscape.name: Host XI-PROD
 com.sap.aii.connect.landscape.httpport: Port XI-PROD SLD
3. Now we have done an SLD data cache cleanup.
4. TEST: I have created a new business system in the SDL (XI-PROD) to check, if this business system is available in the integration builder on XI-DEV. If i try to assign a new business system, I got the error message:Access to object list of type "BusinessSystem" using the InternalEOAService BusinessSystemAccessor failed.
Also i get the error: "No connection to SLD" if i try to compare the adapter-specific entries of a business system with the SLD.
What is the reason? What steps are missing?
Do i need to maintain transactions like LCRSERVADDR (server address of landscape directory?) and SLDAPICUST or anything else??

Migration of local SLD to Central SLD on different host.

Hello Experts,
We have migrate the local SLD existing on the SAP PI System to a new Central SLD on a different host on SAP Solution Manager system.
I followed the OSS Note 720717, which contains the description of the changes that have to be exectued in the SAP XI/PI Environment, during the SLD Migration. This note does not give any details of the description of changes for the other SAP Systems such as SAP ECC, BI etc registered in the SLD.
Can anyone provide the OSS Notes, SAP Doc URL or the steps on how to migrate the local SLD existing on SAP XI/PI System to the new Central SLD on the SAP Solution Manager system.

Firstly
I recommend to avoid having 1 SLD for multiple clients - like Solution Manager, BI, ECC
This is because clients may end up having conflicting requirements for the same SLD
- for example the small user group for Solution Manager may have a flexible and easy going policy on J2EE downtime
- but if you take down the Solution Manager J2EE that houses the SLD and PI uses this SLD - then you could have a severe affect on PI useage
Secondly
Although you can migrate content - this still does not guarantee the target landscape will work
- you may still need to manually re-implement target landscape configuration
let me give you an example
SLD 1 is being moved to SLD 2
Portal 1 is pointing to SLD 1
Even if you migrate the content of SLD 1 - including the ECC and Portal technical system landscape information
Portal 1 is still pointing to SLD 1 - this then needs to be manually re-pointed to SLD2
and that might not be all the complete steps either !
The complete steps of migration from the client side may not be available (I have found only steps to
migrate SLD content not migrate client use of the SLD)
- they may only be available as the documentation for the original configuration steps required to step SLD and the client
- therefore when migrating SLD you must go through the client setup documentation for SLD and check your
target landscape is consistent
Lastly - other considerations include
Lets say you also export model and CIM content from SLD 1 to SLD 2 - this means SLD 2 has an import line from SLD 1
- if you decomission SLD1 then you need to switch the import line which is not recommended - this could cause severe problems and may require you to create a new import line to upload content from SAP /swdc (which you need to keep the SLD bug free and latest definitions)
Just a few thoughts on issues you may encounter

Adapter monitoring with central SLD!

we have central SLD in our landscape(different host from XI server),and our basis guys installed PI7.0 SP12.And AE is local as I can see under Integration server.
I can see JPR in adapter in adapter monitoring.
I have question here!
should it needs to show all the list of adapters (FILE,JDBC,JMS,SOAP etc)in adapter monitoring in RWB?does it vary,if sld is central or local ?
what is the ideal way.

Under Component monitoring -> Integration server -> Adapter Engine
and it has show all the adapters when we install central AE and with central SLD when we furthur click the show all adapters?
As i mentioned above, u may view all the adapters after clicking
Adapter Engine -> Adapter Monitoring
or is it changed since PI 7.0 to cummunication channel monitoring and no adapter monitoring?
Yes. Now the monitoring of adapters r much intensively done by Communication Channel Monitoring

Access Central SLD Error

Hi Experts,
We are using the SLD SOLMAN and we and the ideia is to use it as Central SLD. In order to allowed PI indentifed the Central SLD we must appllied few oss notes like; 939592, 768148 and 720717, but much as we try it to import we got few errors as describe below:
"Unable to read software component versions from System Landscape Directory "ASPTSSM01:50000"
Another error occurs when trying to access the SLD by the runtime workbench:
"Error during communication with System Landscape Directory: HTTP response code: 403 (Forbidden)"
Anybody help-me.

Hi HMattos,
I hope you have created the PI service users in SOLMAN and assigned the same password as the PI service user password.
Open /rep on your PI and click SLD. Check if it opens the SOLMAN page.
Check in VA if SLD data supplier test works fine.
Check SLDCHECK transaction.
If you get errors in any of these, the you will get a hint as to where is the issue. If you unable to resolve, then post the results of the above.
