Moving columns in CS6

Is there a way to copy/cut and paste a full column of a table, moving it from one spot to another? I can do so with a row but for some reason, when the column is selected I cannot copy or cut it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

@andrewsober – unmerge all cells in the row "Albany Downtown".
Now you can copy/paste the columns. Merge the cells in the row again.
It could be a "bug" or a (missing) "feature":
as long as there are merged cells in a row like that, you cannot paste the column from the clipboard.

Select the column, which need to be moved by placing your cursor on the column & press F9. Now place the cursor at a place where the column needs to be moved & press F8.

Moving columns in JTable

hi all
i'm having a slight problem after i've moved a column within my JTable, i need to reallocate the column index numbers. i'm using a sorter for the data, so when i move a column and select another column (or that one) it sorts a different column to the one selected based on the original (pre-move) indexes ( i do hope that makes some sense).
i have a mouseDragged listener which works fine when moving a column, i just now need to add the index changes for all columns to it but i keep coming up with very very bad code that doesn't work.
any suggestions would be most appreciated.

i've actually been fiddling with those and that is actually where my problem lies.
i use the following:
int viewColumn = columnModel.getColumnIndexAtX(e.getX());
int column = tableView.convertColumnIndexToModel(viewColumn);
the sorter then works on "column".
problem is, that when the column is moved, the viewColumn changes, but the column value remains the same. i've also tried sorting on the view column but then it gets even more confused.
i just can't seem to figure it out...

Moving Columns in Jtable. Columns not in sync with header

Hi,
I got several tables within a scrollPane. So I use the add method on the scrollPane to add them. In order to see the headers I add the header separately :
add(table.getTableHeader());
add(table);
The problem is the following :
When I am moving my Column around, the header moves around, however the columns don't move ! So The header does not correspond anymore to my column !
Do someone have some ideas how to get ride of that problem ?

One thought: Add the tables to another container, such as a JPanel and then add the panel to the JScrollPane

Moving columns in a JTable

I'm having a problem with moving of columns by dragging the table header. The table header value moves but the information in the table cells below remain where they were. Has anyone come across anything like this before?
Could it be something to do with the way my tablemodel interacts with my tablesorter?

I'm using TableSorter which is part of the TableSorterDemo in How To Use Tables in the Sun Java tutorial if you want to look - it works fine within the demo. I'm afraid I'm fairly new to java so I'm not sure where to look for the problem. I think I'll try using the default tablemodel, see if that works and then add stuff until it all goes wrong again! Is this sensible? Any more ideas?

It is more work than using a script (was linked to in post #4 in the other thread).
We may have to ask Carlos to make a new script that works in CS6 (and in CS7 and CS8 and so on).

Moving columns?

Why can I not re-arrange the columns in List View so that Artist appears first rather than the track name? I would like to do away with the image column on the left side entirely, but I can only "hide it". Any help would be appreciated.

You cannot. The first two columns cannot be moved or removed.

Numbers moving column & row headings

I have a large document which has lots row and column headings (in the grey area) but they keep moving.
Is there any way I can freeze these so they stay static but the information below moves. ?

The gray area is a header area. Being gray doesn't make it a header area, but header areas are shaded gray by default to differentiate them from the body of the document. There are two elections that you can make regarding the header rows and columns. If you are in Print View, you can choose to have the headers repeat on every page. If you are in Sheet View, you can Freeze Headers. The controls are here, with the table selected:

Moving Column Formats across Instances

Hi,
We have applied some column formats (Say number with 3 decimal places) to few colums using the "Save-as system wide default for <Column_name>" option. Our reports are grouped under one shared folder(SF1). Another team is developing reports for another subject area which are stored in separate shared folder(SF2). When we asked our Admin to move our catalog from Dev instance to Test instance, he moved it using web catalog manager. Only the SF1 folder was moved. With that it looks like all the formatting which was applied as system wide default has not been migrated. May be it is stored at a catalog level. What should I ask my Admin to migrate so that these system wide defaults are also get migrated. Also, we dont want to move anything from SF2 folder.

Moving column separator causes cell resize

Hello, y'all,
I've run into a strange issue, in which the cells of a table control will resize when I move a column separator. I can't always reproduce it and I have no idea what's triggering it. Is this a known issue?

Hello, Mr. Altenbach! Right, I should've been clearer. The problem is that the cells to the *right* spontaneously resize themselves during a Mouse Move event--and to the same width, as far as I can tell. I don't know what triggers it. I'm running LabVIEW 8.5.

Moving columns in Numbers - it's not letting me do it!

I seem to have this bizarre bug in Numbers, and it can't be normal behaviour. If I click on a column tab, it doesn't highlight the one column, it highlights the whole spreadsheet. Similarly, I can't select, say, cell D1 and drag the cursor down to D20 to select a column that way, because after highlighting so many cells, it will go and select the whole sheet.
I've searched the net for a solution and haven't found one, and the only thing I suspect is causing the problem is some merged cells. Problem is, I can't split the merged cells back into individuals, as after five or six attempts at doing it, it adds extra cells and messes up the spreadsheet (one I had to import as an Excel 2003 file since FAME doesn't do Numbers or CSV).
Any ideas? I'm stumped.

You will need to un-merge the cells first.
1. If you have an uneven number merge select the merged cell plus the next one and merge,
2. Once you have an even number of columns merged. Select the columns and make them all the same size....... then use the split command in the inspector. The split command only splits in Half.
Same system for merged rows.

Moving columns in an internal table

Hi Gurus,
I have this ALV program which displays the cost element and its corresponding groups (up to 10th level only).
My problem is on how to display the report where the first column is the cost element and the succeeding columns the cost element groups starting from the top level.
Below is example of a hierarchy of a given cost element ( 50030000 ).
    EMPSTOTAL                            <---Top level
         ESSPENDING
              ES5003
                   ES5003P
                       50030000              <---Cost Element
Now, since the selection of data is from the cost element up to to the top level group.
The internal table would look like this:
Cost Element       Group 1      Group 2        Group 3           Group 4          Group 5             Group 6   .......
50030000           ES5003P      ES5003       ESSPENDING    EMPSTOTAL     (blank)           (blank)......
But this output is wrong, what I really want is like this:
Cost Element       Group 1            Group 2              Group 3           Group 4          Group 5             Group 6   .......
50030000           EMPSTOTAL      ESSPENDING      ES5003            ES5003P        (blank)               (blank)......
As you can see, what is placed next to the cost element is the Top level Group and the last is the group directly linked to the cost element.
Can you please teach me on how to do just that?

As my analysis you are passing the values to the wrong fields of the internal table. Please check the structure of your internal table . Is this in the order which you want?
Other wise please look into how this internal table is getting filled?
This is the sturucture mismatch probelm.
Also look in to the fieldcatalog.
