Moving Contact List to SIM card

I have an old 8820 whose USB port just gave up. Now am trying to copy all the contacts on the contact list to my SIM card, however have only figured out how to do that one by one and with the USB port out of action you can believe my battery is low.
Is there a simple way to copy all contacts from the BB to my SIM card in one smooth go ?  There has to be, RIM couldn't not have thought of that one. Help !

One by one is the only way.

Could someone tell me how to edit contact list in the sim card?
When you edit the contact list on the phone, sim card entries are not affected.
    Thanks and regards.

The iPhone Will copy sim addresses automatically To the onboard memory and address book app however does NOT write back to the sim card . To edit sim card data you would need to put the sim back in a traditional traditional mobile phone.
The sim in the iphone is only used for network recognition.

  • Copying contacts list to sim card

how do i copy the constct list on the b torch to the sim card (as a backup)?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You really don't want to copy them to your SIM card... you can ONLY have one phone number per name, and it's not easy. And you get no email addresses you've saved in your contacts.
Do a backup of your device using the PC and the BlackBerry Desktop Software. Much easier.

  • Lost CONTACT list after SIM card change requested by operator

Dear All, this is my first post, so please bear with me.  I am recurring to this forum to ask for HELP on an issue that is really annoying, specially after spending over an hour with a BlackBerry Support Person who tried many steps to solve the issue without any luck [it was obvious this person did not have the technical expertise to handle the problem at hand].  Here's the story:  Last week I received on the mail a new SIM card with a letter indicating I had to replace my "old" SIM card with this new one, after receiving a text message from the operator.  On Friday I received the SMS and proceeded with the change.  Prior to exchanging SIM Cards, I asked the Call Center Agent if this would cause any problems with my 8520 BB.  The answer was NO, all the configuration info remains on the device, and not on the SIM card.  Well, this was not the case and some applications lost their configuration: email and contacts. Curiously, the BBM service was unaltered.  So I would like to know how can I get back my Contact List? (the email service was quickly and easily reconfigured).  Apparently my old Contact list is somewhere in the Device's memory... but a New Contact List has been created after the SIM Card change.  I know this because when I press the Call History, all the contacts' info is available ... but when pressing the Contacts Address I can only see 1 contact.  Any ideas???? Thank You All.

This is a fun little (and I mean little) problem. Let's walk through it here.
    1) Some applications lost email and contact configurations.
    A) I'm not entirely sure what you mean in particular as far as the email problem goes. Were the e-mails still set up, but you weren't receiving them? Most likely because the new SIM card contained a new ID number. If you were to go to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Tables, press the menu button, and hit Register...that should fix your problem there.
    2) BBM Service was unaltered.
    A) This is because the BBM service is reliant on the PIN number unique to your device (not your SIM card).
    3) Lost contact list, but still showing in the call history.
    A) Your call history is just data stored on the device, the only time your contact history is access when sending and making a call is just a simple check to see if you have the information stored already to match a name to it. The data stored in history is it's own entity. I explained this in a slightly confusing manner, but it's slightly irrelevant.
It's entirely possible that your contact list was stored on your SIM card and not to your device. Try this out:
-Insert your old SIM card into your phone
-Open up your contacts and hit the menu button
-Scroll down and select "SIM Phone Book"
-Here you should see the list of contacts if they were truly stored on your SIM and not your phone.
-Hit the menu button again, and choose "Copy all to Contacts"
Once the process is complete,  you may reinsert the new SIM card and continue on using the phone as normal.
    Hope this helps!
Disclaimer: I'm just a regular user like the rest of you. I have spent a lot of time learning the limitations of the Blackberries to know how to fix most problems. If I have suggested a fix, please give a kudo and mark as a solution!

  • PC Suite doesn't show contacts stored in SIM card ...

    I own a Nokia 6230i v. 03.88 RM-72, and am using PC Suite 6.84.10.4 on Windows XP SP2.
    I found out that:
    1. PC Suite doesn't show in the Contacts folder those which are recorded in the SIM card, but only those from the phone memory. Why's that?
    2. PC Suite doesn't update its displayed list of contacts: after I add one (through PC Suite or on the phone) the display list is unchanged. To reload it, I have to delete manually its stored database (in C:\Documents and Settings\MyLogin\Application Data\PC Suite\nnnnnn\nnnnnn.db (where nnnnnn is a string of 15 digits).Message Edited by miklos on 28-Aug-200701:59 AM

It's never been a technical problem. You can connect your phone and type in a super terminal using AT command to show/save/delete any contact/sms in sim card.
To do it in AT Command, you have to maintain two sets of protocol (one for AT command access, the other for phone memory access). I think Nokia just doesn't want to handle the complexity (while most 3rd party apps do).

  • Save contact info to sim card

I have made many, many changes to my contacts list. I inadvertantly hit the import sim contacts in the settings menu and added all of the "old" contact info back into the phone. I know I can restore from my computer to the phone but, is there a way to write the "new" contacts info to the sim card?
    TIA

    In a word, no.
The iPhone does not support storing contacts on the SIM card, which is limited to a name and a couple of phone numbers.
The iPhone is designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer for contact info. Not a good idea to depend on your cell phone alone for this data anyway regardless if very limited contact info can be stored on the SIM card since a phone can be lost or stolen.
With Vista, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with syncing calendar events, or with the address book used by Windows Mail - Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only. If you don't have Outlook 2003 or 2007 available and you don't use Windows Contacts - it is empty - doesn't include any contacts, before the fist sync with Windows Contacts enter one contact in Windows Contacts. Make this contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select. After the first sync and merge, you can clean up your contacts with Windows Contacts - delete any duplicates, etc. followed by another sync.

  • Delete contacts on my SIM card

I have E72 and I would like to delete all contacts on my SIM card?
In my contacts, only those from the phone are displayed and not sim card, however, when i recieve a call the name of the person in the SIM card appear and not the Phone contacts. i.e. in my since phone 9321456 is Joe but I create Joe in my phone contacts and named him Joe Doe 9321456. When he calls I see Joe and not the new Joe Doe. So I wan to delete all contacts from my SIM card please.

You can do that by going to Contacts->Options->Settings->Contacts->Contacts to display->Sim memory. After that its just to delete the once that you see on your contacts list.

The iPhone under normal circumstances does not store contacts on the SIM Card. It can read them, but again under normal circumstances does not write them to the SIM Card.
When you sync your new iPhone to iTunes on your usual computer you can restore from a Back-Up of your old iPhone to get Contacts and other data and files installed on your new iPhone.

  • Can I use Itunes to sync my contacts to my sim-card?

well, same question as above is asked, Can I use iTunes to copy all my contacts to my Sim-card to use them on another phone witch can't be syncronised with iTunes? anfd if I can do that, How?? Please help me if you can.

No. The iPhone stores no data on a sim card, thus there is no way to do what you want using iTunes.

  • Can I save my contacts to my sim card

can I save my contacts to my sim card?

No, the iPhone does not save anything to the SIM cards.
SIM cards have a very limited capacity anyway, and can't store the wealth of contact information an iPhone can.

As provided, there are no contacts on your SIM card.
The duplicate contacts issued has been asked and answered on these forums many times.
