Moving Contacts from Documents Folder

I want to create a folder specifically for my contacts in my Documents folder, but I really dont want to mess any thing up with my adress book. If I move them to a new folder inside the documents do I have to reset anything or will anything get messed up?

Address Book will tend to get its contacts from ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book. If you want to store your contact data elsewhere, you'll need to create an alias in ~/Library/Application Support.

Moving Stack from one folder to another?

Is there a way to keep a stack together while moving it from one folder to another. When I grab the stack and drop it to a folder, I view the folder and the images are no longer in a stack. It would save me a lot of time if they would stay stacked. Am I missing something?

Well your code is unreadable because you didn't post it properly, but I'd guess you've fallen into the old multiple-delete trap in a new way. It's like this:
To start with you have messages numbered 0, 1, and 2, let's say. So you write a loop that lets i run from 0 to 2 and delete message number i in the loop. What really happens? The first time through the loop you delete message number 0, after which you are left with messages numbered 0 and 1. The second time through the loop you delete message number 1, after which you are left with message 0 only. The third time through the loop you delete message 2, which isn't there and you get that message.
That's just a guess, I didn't have the patience to read that ugly unformatted code. There are two ways to do the multiple delete properly, if that's actually your problem: (1) run the loop upwards from 0 and always delete message 0; (2) run the loop downwards from N-1 to 0 and delete message i.

I have many different mailaccounts and different groups of contacts on my ipad and iphone. Sometimes i made the mistake when i create a new account linking it with the standard account. How it is possible to move one account to an other group?

Why can't I move or modify any file from Documents folder without writing my administrator password?

I have a problem with the Documents folder. Everytime I try to move or modify (rename) any file located in this folder, Finder shows a message asking for the administrator password. It doesn't happen when I want to delete some file or when I do the same things in other folders like Music, Movies or Images, it only occurs in Documents folder.
I've checked the security and permissions settings, I've created other folders and moved my files there, but it did'nt work.
Do you know how can I solve it?

Is the external also named Macintosh HD?
If only the Internal is, it seems something has messed up your drive.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Reboot.

Moving contacts from nokia 6300 to Iphone 4

hi,
sorry if I'm making a new discussion uneccessarily but I can't find an adequate solution on the internet at the moment, so any advice would be much appreciated. I'm trying to move my contacts from my nokia 6300 to my iphone 4. I'm running a pc on windows xp with the latest Itunes (11.1.3), Iphone has latest os.
I have used the nokia pc suite to 'syncronise' my contacts to my default windows address book so they are on my computer but I'm stuck on the second step from computer to Iphone. I was planning to plug in my Iphone and sync my contacts across by some button on under the 'info' tab in Itunes.. but itunes says 'your contacts are being synced with your Iphone over the air from Icloud. over-the-air settings can be changed on your Iphone'. my problem is that i am not using The Icloud, I've triple in my settings.

any solutions for my specific problem or any completely different way would be more than helpful.

Ok I managed it, so in case anyone else has a similar problem and sees this, here are the steps.
1. In your Contacts section of the Nokia, Options>Mark>Mark All.
2. Options>Manage>Phone to Memory Card.
3. Now your memory card has your contacts in .vcf format.
4. Connect via data cable to Macbook.
5. Once the icon shows up (Takes 10-15 secs), open it and under Other, see the folder Contacts.
6. Copy to desktop (or wherever)
7. Disconnect data cable.
8. Import into Address Book (Figure out how you wanna handle duplicates...merge, use old or use new) I chose Use New
9. Plug in the Iphone, sync through Itunes.
10. Done!

How to mass moving iviews from one folder hierachy to another within PCD?

I found that it is really not user-friendly to move iviews from one folder to another within PCD>
I tried to use Multiple Property Replacement to move some iviews in one folder to different folder hierachy in PCD, but I don't really know how to do so.
Do you mass moving iviews in PCD before? How do you able to do it more efficiently.

Kyle, the PCD Inspector seems able to faster my process a lot.
What if I want to mass edit some properties. (I thought Multiple Property Replacement would able to do some, but it couldn't)
Said I need to change the Id of a set of iviews:
my_iview_a
my_iview_b
my_iview_c
my_iview_d
to
iview_a
iview_b
iview_c
iview_d
but the MPR doesn't able to use the asterisk (*) operation.

Moving Contacts from I-Pod back to Computer

I recently purchased a new MacPro. I no longer have access to my "old" Address Book on the old computer. Is there some way that I can move my contacts from my I-Pod Classic back to the new computer or do I have to establish all my contacts manually again in the new computer? Will a simple synch of the I-Pod to the new computer transfer all of my contacts to my new MacPro?

1. Make sure iPod is set up to be used as an external hard disk.
2. Connect iPod to your computer. The iPod appears as a hard disk on your desktop or in a Finder window.
3. Open the iPod hard disk.
4. Open the folder named "Contacts".
5. Find the vCard for the contact you want.
6. Drag the vCard to the desktop.

Contacts not visible after moving contacts from SI...

I have express music 5310. i had moved my contacts from sim to phone memory. After which these contacts are not visible. These are not available on the sim anymore. They are not visible on contact lists too..
Any help on retrieving these would be very helpful

In contacts settings set the phone contacts to phone contacts only is it now set to both?

Moving contacts from Outlook 2007 to Mac Address Book

Hello all,
I've tried to email VCard attachments of contacts from an Outlook 2007 / Exchange Server account so I can import them into my MAC Address Book. When I look at my sent folder in Outlook, the attachment shows a VCF attachment. When I pick up the email on my MAC using Mail, the attachment always comes back as WinMail.dat which the Address Book doesn't recognize.
Furthermore, I've tried sending the VCard to a Yahoo email address and download the attachment. That worked fine.
Was wondering if someone could help me isolate where the issue may be. Thanks.

If Outlook Express provides for exporting contacts in vCard format, you can send all contacts as vCard attachments to a message sent to an email account you access with the Mail.app. Save the vCard attachments from the message to a created folder on the Desktop and then use the Address Book import feature selecting vCards.
If OE does not provide for exporting contacts in vCard format, it should provide for exporting contacts as a tab-delimited text file.
The Tiger Address Book includes a Text File import selection/option.

Moving Contacts from Windows XP Outlook to Mac Leopard Entourage

There is a way of importing contacts from Windows XP Outlook to Mac Leopard Entourage and that is by saving a file in a Text - comma separated values and then importing into Entourage.
Here is how:
1. Open Outlook in Windows
2. Click on File and then *Import and Export*
3. Choose *Export to a file* and hit Next
4. Choose *Comma Separated Values (Windows)* and hit Next
5. Then highlight Contacts and hit Next
6. Choose a filename and a place to save the exported file and hit Next
7. Confirm with a check mark next to *Export "Contacts" from folder: Contacts* and hit Finish
The above will have generated a file with the exported contacts from Outlook. Remember its name and location on the HD.
1. Open Entourage in Leopard
2. Go to File and choose Import
3. Place a check mark on *Contacts or Messages from a text file* and click the *Right Arrow* at the bottom right of the window.
4. Place a check mark on *Import contacts from a tab- or comma-delimited text file* and click on the *Right Arrow* at the bottom right of the window.
5. Locate the file that you created above and highlight it in the next window. Once done then hit Import
That should bring in all the contacts into Entourage.
The above instructions are for importing outlook contacts into Entourage (Office 2008 for Mac). If you have any other version then it should still work however the menu choices may be slightly different.

I have set up several Groups in my iPhone but some of my contacts are in "inappropriate" groups.
How can I move a contact from one group to another without deleting and retyping?

How did you set up the Groups on your iPhone?
Are you syncing contacts with the Address Book application on your Mac?
If so, place the contact in the appropriate Group in the Address Book on your Mac and then sync.

Moving messages from one folder to another.

I am trying to move messages from one folder to another. It works perfectly when i try to move one message at a time. However when i try to move more than 1 message(for e.g 2 messages) only the first message is being move to the destinated folder and while attempting to move the 2nd message it is throwing IndexOutOfBounds exception.
This is how i am attempting to move the message.

From the address book app on your computer where your contacts should be available as well and/or with the email account you are syncing contacts over the air with.

Moving contacts from Blackberry Pearl to Macbook Air

Hi,
I still have a Blackberry Pearl as my phone but have just upgraded to a Macbook Air as my laptop (from using a PC).
Any advice on how I move my contacts from the Pearl to the Air ?
And will I be able to regularly synch the two (as I did with my old PC)?

Moving contacts from iphone ...

I've just got a new phone and want to transfer my contacts from my iphone to the new phone but can't work out how to move my contacts to the SIM card to transfer them.
I tried synching my contacts to Yahoo via itunes but it only synched the contacts from the SIM not the phone.
I don't have outlook on my laptop.
Help!

The iPhone does not support storing contacts on the SIM card which is very limited to a name and a couple of phone numbers and maybe an email address for each contact.
The iPhone supports syncing contacts with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book app used by Outlook Express with XP and by Windoze Mail with Vista and Windoze 7 called Windoze Contacts.
Before syncing contacts with Windoze Contacts if Windoze Contacts is empty and not being used, enter one contact in Windoze Contacts before the first sync for this data. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data with Windoze Contacts which you want to accept.
