Moving CS6 Cloud from drive C to drive D
Can I move CS6 cloud from drive C to drive D?
Drive C is a SSD solid state drive and is filling up fast.
Drive D is HDD drive with much space.
If I deactived on drive C then down load to drive D what problems will I encounter?

Some components will always end up on your system root drive no matter what... If you want to install to another location, uninstall the apps using your Add or Remove Programs system control panel, then run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool. Define a new location in the Application Manger prefs and let it reinstall your programs. Since you're reinstalling on teh same system, there is nothing specific to do with activations.

I have tried unsuccessfully to remove a folder from Trash. My anti-virus program (Sophos) detected a virus which had to be manually removed. I tried (unsuccessfully) to find and remove the infected file. I moved the Folder from my external backup drive and placed it in Trash. Now I cannot get Trash to delete the folder. It asks me if I wish to delete "unlocked" or "all" items. Either selection does not delete the folder. I went to change the permissions to "read & write" and unlocked the folder, but it is still there. I tried to "move" the folder from Trash back to the external harddrive but it seems I can only "copy" it and not "move" it. I am afraid that by copying it, I will not have the folder in two locations (Trash & External HD).
Would appreciate any suggestions and guidance on this. I hope that I have explained the problem clearly!
Thank you! Before deleting it we should know more about this folder and its contents.
If it is invected and is using other apps, or other apps are still using it, then it cannot be deleted in the normal manner.
You might contact Sophos and ask them about it.
If you are using TM or have a backup of your system before the infection occurred, then you can delete the item(s) in Trash, but there is the possiblity of system corruption and the need for a reinstall, if any of these files are necessary for the OS to work properly, even though they are infected.
Sophos may not have been able to remove the infection from inside a file which is why they suggested manual removal.
You might consider downloading and running ClamXav first and see if it can't do better than Sophos.
All that being said, you can always remove the contents of the Trash using the terminal. Usually as administrator, or in some cases as root (su). Unless you are very familiar with the terminal I do not suggest doing this without some study. -
Moved iTunes library from old computer (PC Windows 7) to new (PC Window 8) using external hard drive. Library listing shows all music but can only play a fraction of it. On the ones it cannot play it asks to locate, then refers to an archived version (an .itl file), and still cannot play them. Do I just need to copy the archived .itl over, or is that not where the actual media are (do the actual media files even exist on the new computer?)? Any advice or information on this would be helpful.
*Also...is there any way I can filter out all the tracks with the ! so I can delete the unplaying copies as they're taking up room in my iTunes? I know how to find duplicates, but then I have to go and delete each one individually...*
*Thank you!* -
I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer. (My new compute runs Windows 8.1) How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer? Is this possible or do I have to use the procedure of copying the catalog along with the photos to a back up hard drive and then restore them on the new computer?
The 'normal' procedure is to do a PSE organizer backup (not a copy or a backup from external tools) to an external drive, then a restore to the new location.
The advantage is that you have a backup of both catalog and media files and you don't have all disconnected files, which would happen with external backup tools. Also, if you restore with a more recent elements version, the catalog will be automatically updated to the new format.
The drawback in your situation is that you'll have either to overwrite all your files or restore to a custom location, creating a duplicate photo library (which supposes you have enough free space).
It would be possible to simply use the organizer in the old PC to move the catalog to a new 'custom' folder just under your C: root drive. The catalog would be accessible once the drive will be installed in the new PC. Then you would have all files 'disconnected' due to the fact that all your media files are now on a drive with a different letter. Reconnecting a whole library is a hard job with PSE6, less so with PSE11/PSE12.
If the idea of fiddling with the sqlite database with external sqlite manager tools is ok for you, I can describe the process more in detail. You only copy your catalog folder (as suggested above) to another location. Instead of trying the 'reconnection' way, you install the sqlite utility on the new computer. When the old drive is installed in the new computer, you simply edit a given record in the catalog database, catalog.psedb, and start the organizer with your copied catalog by simply double clicking the 'catalog.psedb' file.
Even if the last solution is much, much quicker, I would still create a new PSE backup : you have never too much safety . -
I have over 200 hours of HD video on 5 different TB Thunderbolt GRaid hard drives. I need to reorganize my projects, moving large files from one drive to another. Advice?
Do some testing to get your method working right with some less than important footage.
Copy/paste files where you want then.
Use the FCE Reconnect feature to tell FCE where the newly copied files reside.
Make sure the new location and files are working as expected with your Projects.
Delete the original files if no longer required.

How do I prevent itunes from moving my music from its original place ie folders in an external drive when I play music from itunes. I have all my music in artist folders and separated by MPG3/MPG4 and FLAC folders within the artist folder and itunes moves the track/s whenever i try and load selected music to my ipod/iphone. I've tried to find some sort of preference to prevent this, but no joy? What am I missing?
Try opening iTunes preferences. Then click on advanced tab. Then uncheck "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library." By default, iTunes copies music to its own media folder when you use iTunes to play the music.

Yesterday I moved a folder from my portable drive to the desktop of a computer called B3. The folder contained four tiff files and 16 PSD image files that I had been Photoshoping for two weeks. I dragged the folder into bridge for a quick look. Most of the fliles had been processed in Lightroom 4. When I opened the first image in PS all of the layers were gone and the image looked like it had never had anything done to it. All of the PSD images opened with the same result, no layers, weeks of work gone. I took the portable drive and plugged it into my labtop. All of the layers were there. What happened? there was no older version of the file on the drive.
Actually that would not have had any impact. When I processed the files in Lightroom there was a software glitch and they would not open as PSD 's inPs they appeared as raw files in PS. Yes I know how to set preferences. Ok to get around that one I exported my files as PSD into a folder. After I always opened them from the folder so I don't see how the XMP files could be an issue. Also remember for two weeks I had been working using the same procedure with out any trouble@bdentonphoto: RT @Patrick_Baz: @patrickwitty: Brutal, important frontpage of the @guardiannews, heartbreaking photo from the massacre in Houla, #Syria http://t.co/7411qhUf

Folders moved from Drive C to Drive D... Need help!
Dear All,
Recently I had moved my iPhone Ringtone and Music original folders from drive C to drive D. Apparently, when i tried to sync my iPhone with iTune, it says,
"Are you sure you want to sync music? All existing songs and playlists on the iPhone "iphone name" will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library."
But when checked, even the iPhone Apps folder in my laptop is also empty, because it says the same thing.
So can someone please advise me on this?

CS6 Cloud InDesign problem: Will not open from Windows
I have a CS6 Cloud subscription. I cannot open InDesign files from Windows, which thinks they are pdfs, and I cannot reset this preference. Do I need to uninstall InDesign, use the CS Cleaner tool, and reinstall? If so can I do all that just for the InDesign product rather than the whole creative suite?
Ken
Thank you. I do appreciate your response, but, unfortunately, that approach, which should work, as you say, does not.
The .indd is described on my compuer as an Adobe Acrobat Document and the current default is Adobe Acrobat, so whenever I click on any .indd document in Windows Explorer, Acrobat is instructed to open it which, of course, it cannot.
Changing the file association should work in the way you describe, but instead here is what happens:
When I get to your step 5 (shown above) and I click on 'change program' I get a list of programs to choose from. The recommended program is shown as Adobe Acrobat and the list of other programs does not list Adobe InDesign. So, I browse to the Adobe InDesign CS6 file in my programs area on my C Drive, find the InDesign.exe file and click. And... nothing happens except that I am taken back to the screen where I am supposed to choose which new file I want associated with .indd.
So, now I cannot open InDesign files unless I first open the InDesign program and then open the file from within the program.
Do you think this indicates a corruption in the InDesign files? Is there an easy way to fix it? -
HP Cloud Print Driver for Windows Server 2003?
Hello,
I have a unique (complicated) situation that I am trying to find a solution for.
Here is the deal,
My company is trying to set up a temporary remote branch location inside a building where we are unable to wire a network. Our solution is to use a wireless hotspot. Connected to this hotspot, we will have an iPad and an HP Laserjet M525.
The iPad will be connecting to our Citrix environment over VPN through Citrix Receiver to deliver a desktop interface to the iPad. This is needed to access a few applications that are used at the branch.
The problem now is printing, AirPrint wont work because the iPad is on VPN (and its at a windows interface, not the iPad's).
I had the idea of using the HP printers built in ePrint function to print, so I set that up. So now sending at email to [email protected] prints to the HP printer attached to the wireless hotspot.
Emaling to print works, but ideally, I would like this printer to show up in the Windows Devices and Printers, so that the user can just click print, choose the HP printer, and it will print, (with a delay obviously as its sending an email).
So I downloaded the HP ePrint Windows Driver, which has to be installed on the main Citrix servers so that the users session can grab the printer and use it, turns out the driver doesnt work on Windows Server 2003.
My first attempt at a workaround was Google Cloud Print, which was fairly simple to connect to HP ePrint, but apparently the Google Cloud Print Driver doesnt work on Windows Server 2003 either.
Is there a version of the HP ePrint Driver out there that works on Windows Server 2003?
tldr:
I would like to print to a remote HP printer that is connected to a wifi hotspot from our internal network. I need whatever software I download to be compatible with Server 2003.
I understand this is over complicated but thanks for any input.I believe I understand your issue. You would like to use a print driver to print to your HP ePrint enabled printer from your apps that are hosted by Citrix server. While I believe this makes perfect sense, HP does not have a print driver that officially supports MS TS or Citrix that also supports the ePrint Cloud path. The reason for this is the ePrint windows driver is a "dynamic" print driver (similar to HP UPD dynamic mode) that handles multiple print paths (tcp/ip, wireless direct, cloud, etc) in a single driver instance by dynamically changing the port the print queue is bound to so the port is specific to the delivery path. For example, if printing to a network printer it will use a MS Standard tcp/ip port. If printing to the ePrint cloud a custom port is used, etc. Well, if you have lots of Citrix users trying to print to a single print queue, but to different destinations, the users would be colliding with each other when they print by having the driver trying to change the print queue to different print ports at the same time.
What you could do is install an ePrint print queue on the citrix server if you can control the access to that queue to just your local branch users. Also, if you only have on ePrint enabled printer the situation is even better as only one port will be needed by that queue. You can find the ePrint software at www.hp.com/go/eprintsoftware You might want to download the version of the driver that supports XP as Windows 2003 is very similar print system.
NOTE: this is not a supported environment for this driver. You would be using it without warrenty or support and no promises are being made here.
Good luck if you choose this path and please post back the results. Thanks! -
I've always kept all my music on its own dedicated internal hard drive. Now I've got a new PC, finally made the switch to Windows 7 from XP, and I've moved my internal hard drive over to the new machine.
I installed iTunes, but I'm having a heck of a time getting it to import the music and library files, keeping all my playlists and metadata. Why is this so hard?If your New to You Used Mac is froom mid 2012 and originally came with Lion installed on it you will need to Reinstall that version using the Online Internet Recovery system and then at first boot of the new install use the Setup Assistant system to copy over all the data from your wifes old hard drive.
To access the Online system at startup hold down the Command + Option/alt + r keys and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen. From the resulting screen that cames up, Mac OS X Utilities, select Disk Utility and then the top most entry for the hard drive, left hand panel, drive model number and size, and then the Partition tab. Repartition the drive as One Partition, You Must do that to get ride of the Mavericks Recovery HD partition which is hidden. Name the partition Macintosh HD with a format of Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Once that is done exit disk utility and select Reinstall Mac OS X. -
I have several computers with Windows 7 Ultimate installed here at the Pioneer Library System. We have ~20 workstations running XP Pro on a Active Directory domain and are planning on rolling out Windows 7 this fall. I am running Windows 7 to test our programs
(have since RC1) but I am running into an issue when installing software.
The problem I am running into is that when I try to install any program that uses the MSI installer on Windows 7 , it fails with a 1327 error at the point where it is preparing to install and says "Invalid Drive H:\".
All the users in our domain have the "Home Folder" on their active directory profile set to
H:\ (which is mapped to \\PrimaryDC\user$ in the same place). We have also moved the
C:\Users\user\Documents folder to H:\ so as to keep all documents on the server where they get backed up regularly.
If I move "Documents" back to C:\Users\user\Documents the MSI installer works fine. When I look into the registry as suggested in
this thread I found that in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders " and in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders " the key "Personal" points to "H:\".
But, H:\ is a valid connected network drive. Installing from the same account on an XP computer with
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents moved to the H:\ drive works fine.
I have tried setting up another 7 machine and get exactly the same results on it.
Is there a workaround for this besides creating a admin account that does not have Documents mapped to the network drive
H:\ to use for installing programs?
Thanks
Aaron Z
PLSI do not have the option with some of these files to pass parameters to the MSI installer. For example, if I download the Acrobat Reader installer from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe and run AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe
it extracts the MSI file to C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Adobe\Reader 9.3\Setup Files and then runs it.
To reproduce this an a Windows 7 computer (does not have to be on a domain):
Prep Work:
Create a user (test1)
Create a folder on the root of C (C:\Test)
Set permissions on C:\Test to allow the test1 user to have full access to it
Share the C:\Test folder as test1 (again, set the permissions to allow the test1 user full access)
Set the "Home Folder" for the test1 user connect to Z: and point that to \\127.0.0.1\test1
Login as test1
Check that you have Z:\ mapped and that it works
Check that it works:
Install Acrobat Reader 9.3 from the link above
Note that it works
Uninstall Acrobat Reader 9.3 using "Programs and Features"
Break it:
Login as test1
Check that you have Z:\ mapped and that it works
Go to C:\Users\test1
Right click on the Documents folder and click on properties
Click on the Location tab
Click on "Browse" and select the Z drive
Allow Windows to move the files to the new location
Check that it is broken:
Check that you have access to the new Documents folder at Z:\
Install Acrobat Reader 9.3 from the link above
Note that it extracts itself to C:\Users\test1\AppData\Local\Adobe\Reader 9.3\Setup Files
and runs the MSI installer from there
Note that after the MSI installer is started it pops up an error saying Error: 1327, Invalid drive Z:\.
I also see this with various other install programs (VMWare vSphere Client, VMWare Player and Kaspersky Antivirus for example)
Is there any reason why this should not work? Is there something that I should be doing differently?
Thanks

Pictures in iPhoto do not show up after being moved to external hard drive.
I moved an iPhoto library to an external hard drive. When I created this library I did not tick on "Copy items to the iPhoto library" when importing. I wanted to keep the pictures in the folders neatly. These folders were moved to the external hard drive along with the iPhoto library. However, when I tried to go to Find -> Original File/Modified File it said that the picture was not found. When in actuality, the folders of the original files had been moved to the external drive.
I understand one solution is to create a brand new iPhoto library with these pictures in my external hard drive. However, when I do that I loose all the photo albums which were created in the internal hard drive. Is there a way to move the iPhoto to external hard drive and still have the links work, and not lose my albums? This is the primary reason why experienced users recommend not using a referenced library. Simply, there is no way to move it without braking the path to the photos, and short of hacking the SQL database, there is no way to update the paths except for each photo, one by one.
I wanted to keep the pictures in the folders neatly.
Doing what you have done means more work, moe complexity and no extra power at all. It's uttterly unnecessary. iPhoto keeps the files quite neatly itself. But that simply doesn't matter as you never access the files via the FInder anyway.
Now you need to decide what you want to do.
If you return the Library and the Files to exactly where they were on your internal you can the recreate the Library - but only as a managed library - with iPhoto Library Manager
If that worries you from the point of view of accessing the files then have a read of this:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4491
If you purchase Aperture ($70 on the App Store) then you can use it's Relocate Masters command to move the originals and the Library to the external.
Or, if you feel like hacking an SQL database you can read how to do that here
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3216539?tstart=30
Not for the faint hearted, and be sure to back up first.
For my money: rebuild as a Managed Library. It's easier going forward, saves work, and means you never have to face this issue again.
