Moving cursor over any http pointer causes displayed pop ups to flicker on/off. started with v18.0

First noticed when I tried to save bookmarks. Started with Version 18 update.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Holding down the control key will invoke "right-click."
Depending on the View, holding down Shift will with either toggle the selection (Icon View), or it will make a continuous selection from the previous selection (List View or Column View).
The only way to make a continuous selection in Icon View is to drag out a selection marquee around or through the icons.
I can't remember the behavior of previous OS's.

Details: Checkin 272187 fixed small messages to work on NIO HTTP endpoints but this exposed a bug in HTTPChannel. HTTPChannel is not supposed to support small messaging feature but there was one place where small messages feature were still being enabled which caused the bug.

Flash player causes repeated pop-ups impeding my computer use.

I am frustrated with using flash player and its frequent upgrades which cause 3-4 pop-ups each time I click on a link. I would think you could engineer a more user friendly environment for a tool that many applications require. What's your excuse or suggestion?

What kind of pop-ups? I never get any pop-ups when using Flash Player.

On opening 2 browser Tabs are displayed doubling the infomation how can I start with only one browser Tab?

each time I access firefox 2 tabs are created each with the same information. To retrieve the information I must manually close the second tab else the info will not display properly. I am wondering is there something I can do to stop this from happening? It happens with direct open or from a link and if allready on a web page and open another via link 2 more Tabs are created it can become very crowded and hard to know which was first tab created. When I scroll over content there seems to be "pop-ups" that come about. Why is this happening with FireFox and not I. E. ? How do I fix the problem?

Most likely caused by one of your extensions. If the above doesn't get rid of it, check here next:

When I go up to "file-edit-view etc and I put cursor over it the word it's pointing to disappears. How can I make it stop. I need to see what I'm pointing at!!

I got everything fixed but now when I go the the top where it has "File Edit View History etc" and I put the cursor over it the word blanks out. It never used to do this and I can't work with it like this. I prefer Firefox over any other web browser. Keyboard command mistake activates unwanted guides over image when moving cursor.

inadvertently i have hit a keyboard command that has given me an unexpected result. When I pass the cursor over an image horizontal, vertical and 45 degree angle guides pop up over various parts of the image. Also paths, anchor points, intersects and alignments are defined in very small text that follows the cursor, especially the pen tool. All of these things flash on and off as I move the cursor around the image. I find this very distracting and want to turn off this feature but I don't know which key I hit to turn it on. Any thoughts?

Hi, Is it possible to have where the Mouse cursor is on the page moving mask over another image. Imagine a black screen with a star cut out of the middle(where the cursor is) and u can see the image behind.
Any examples on how to do this?
Can it be done in html instead?

Create the mask and the background as movieclips and then assign the mask as the mask property of the bacground movieclip... as in background.mask = msk (where msk is the instance name of the mask).
Then assign a MOUSE_MOVE event listener to the mask and in the event handler for that listener have its x and y properties assigned to be the mouseX and mouseY properties
