A follow up to my previous question... is the same directory structure necessary on the new volume or can the page and index be placed under the root directory?

We have SQL Server 2012 SP1 installed on E drive (which means SQL Binaries, Database and LOGs) are in the same drive E, we are not able to backup the SQL Server because according to Backup Vendor their is a problem with the DISK E which is why the backup
is not successful, We have added one more drive with the same space, we have stopped SQL Server services and copy each and every thing from E drive to new drive and changed the current E Drive to K and changed the new drive to E, after that when we tried to
start SQL Service but it was not starting, we have again reverted back the original drive to E and service was successfully started, please note here that SQL server service logon is NT service / local service. Please help us that how to do achieve this as
we are using the same E drive and OS should not know any thing. Please help us to copy and then change the drive letter to E so that we can delete the old drive.

You should not have done this. Even if you install complete SQL Server on Separate dedicated drive few binaries would always go on system drive that is C drive so your idea of moving files to other drive would sure create a problem. As a fact you cannot
move SQL Server complete installation from one drive to other apart from uninstalling and reinstalling again.
Copy it back an hope fully you would be able to restart. Why should you take a product which allows you to change sql server drive its a bad product. I guess backup engineer does not how to configure backup agent

External drive has different drive letter now, Lightroom catalog doesn't see it.

The problem started when I plugged in an additional external USB drive. The drive I use for my photos was labeled F:, now is labeled G:, even after removing the additional drive from the system. The catalog in LIghtroom still points to F:, which currently doesn't 'exist'. The physical drive is fine - Windows explorer sees all the files. I see two approaches to solving this, neither one of which I know how to do: (1) reassign the letter F; to the drive (2) repoint the catalog to G:.

Those are the two choices.
To change the drive letter, go to Google and type in
change drive letter Windows
To change where Lightroom finds the photos, see Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

Data and Index lookup Cache

Hi All,
We are facing performance issue on executing a task WC_SIL_APInvoiceDistributionFact, this takes 1:20:13mins to complete the load.
Issue is with the Lookup table W_EMPLOYEE_D that takes around 35mins, so we have increased the data and index cache size of that lookup table. Now the Lookup table W_EMPLOYEE_D takes 7mins and the load duration is around 28mins.
Calculation for Data and Index Cache
Count of rows + 16 = Index Cache
(Count of rows + 16) * 2 = Data Cache.
Since the Data volume will not be same in all the instances do we need to change the cache size for each instance? And will be any other impact if we add this cache size.
Can you please help on this to proceed further.

Hi Shalini,
In that case: the cache will be filled and used as long as the number of rows sourced from the table fits in the defined size. If it exceeds the max size, it will not store the rows in cache and every mapping using the lookup operator will wait for the query generated by the lookup operator to return the resultset.
So basically, you will potentially hit the same problem you are trying to solve.

I suggest the easy stuff first:
1) quite Numbers and restart Numbers
2) reboot the computer
After that try opening the same document in another user space

Ummm..that's iCloud space, not storage on your phone. What you bought has nothing to do with how much storage is on your phone.
You must free up space on your phone by deleting apps, photos, music, movies, etc....

Locate my media and library on a different drive letter

I am using the latest iTunes for Windows. I have my media in "Z:\Music\My Music CDs\" folder and sub directories, while iTunes library is in "Z:\Music\iTunes".
I haven't consolidated the media inside iTunes because I prefer to create/edit my MP3's using other software. All my media are from my collection of CD's.. nothing purchased.
Anyhow,my music tracks inside iTunes library (in "Z:\Music\iTunes") have a path like "Z:\Music\My Music CDs\Blues\Elmore James\Let's Cut It\abc.mp3"
I would like to move the Z:\Music\... to a new computer. However, the drive letter on the new computer for media is Y.
I copied the files over to Y:, installed iTunes on the new computer, opened the .itl file, now residing in "Y:\Music\iTunes\". However, my media links in the iTunes library point to "Z:\Music\My Music CDs\", whereas, the actual files on the new pc are in "Y:\Music\My Music CDs\". While the content shows up listed iTunes, every file is considered "missing" by iTunes, who asks me to locate the file.
How do I copy my media and library, from "Z:\Music\.." to ""Y:\Music\.."?

The user tipMake a split library portable should how you can transform a working library into a portable shape, but still keep your own personal internal folder structure, however in this case it may be easier to simply reassign the drive letters.

Folders not available on removeable media when assigned a different drive letter

I have LR 5.2 and I move files off onto a removable drive as a back-up and it allows me to share the pictures with them when they sometimes lose them. Windows 7 routinely assigns the drive to the letter M:, N:, and sometime P: and apparently I cannot see the folders unless the drive is assigned the same letter as it was when I imported the pictures into the catalog. The folders don’t even show up in the library, but if I do an import all of the folders appear as valid destinations within LR. How can I fix this? The first picture is a screen shot of the library; notice that the year 2013 is missing. The second screen shot is what appears when I go to import; note that 2013 appears. The folders simply do not appear in LR except when I attempt import.
When I look at N: in my “working catalog” it shows it as having catalog “AUMC” but the folders in it belong to the part of my working catalog that I have moved to a different external drive since they’re old picture I don’t use much. They all have question marks, but they are resolved with I attach the external drive with those folders on it.

I do not have access to Windows 7 right now, just windows 8. I am certain that Windows 7 has the same functionality, but my directions to get there may be off a bit as it may have changed.
1) Connect your external drive to your computer, and check what letter Windows gave it.
2) Go To Start->Run and enter 'diskmgmt.msc' (without the quotes)
3) A new window will come up. Maximise it, so you can see it all.
4) Torwards the bottom, you will a white box with the drive letter of your external disk in it.
5) Right click on this white box and select 'Change Drive Letter and Paths' (This may be slightly different in Windows 7).
6) If the 'Change' option is available then click on that, otherwise select 'add'
7) I suggest here you select a letter near the end of the alphabet to minimise the chances of another drive using it.
8) Windows should now try to use this letter each time it mounts the drive.
If windows continues to change the drive letter, then make sure that you 'eject' the drive properly each time because if you do not, windows may think that the drive letter is still in use.
Alternatively, in step 6 above, select 'add' and in there, you can give windows a path on your C drive to mount the disk to (make sure that the directory you select is totally empty). Then the whenever you connect your external hard disk to your computer, the contents will be available there. If you go this route though, make sure that you only wite to this directory when your external hard disk is connected.

Replacing Essbase server , different drive letter

Will be getting a replacement Windows server for our Essbase software & apps(don't have it yet). The directory structure will be the same(\Hyperion\Essbase\...)but not the drive letters.The existing server has a C:(OS) and a D:(data drive). The new server will have a C:(OS) and E:(data drive-this is based upon IT standardization).My plan is to install software and copy Hyperion directories & subdirectories from old to new. I have done this copy in the past when the drives letters are the same, but will it work when the drive letters are different?My main concern is the security file. Will the copy work for security or will I be forced to rebuild security?

You need to re-start the application in order that it takes the new setings.But in order that it moves the files to another drive, you need to export the database (all data), clear the data (clear all data) and to import the data again from the exported file.hope that helpsClaudio

Moving catalog and photos with external drive, Elements can't see catalog database

Tried searching, but couldn't find my situation.
I have an old computer with a second hard drive (1.5 TB). I pulled it from my old computer and put it in the new computer.
I also copied my "My Catalog" folder which contains the catalog database file (catalog with a type "PSE8DB").
Got the second drive installed fine in my new computer.
Reinstalled Elements 8.
But the File / Catalog dialog box can't seen the existing catalog database. I can browse to the folder, but it doesn't show up.
Old computer was Windows XP. New computer is Windows 7.
Both are using Photoshop Elements 8.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1 - Where are your photo files located ? What is the drive letter assignment of this second drive ?
My suspicion is that the photos (and perhaps also video files) reside on that second hard drive which you physically moved and installed in the new computer.
2 - Where is the PSE Catalog file (both on the old XP system and on the new W 7 system) ? Is that folder containing the PSE Catalog on the C drive or on that second hard drive which is now installed on the new W 7 system ?
3 - FYI - I agree with the DJ Paige recommendation to "In Windows, double-click on the *.pse8db file" as a means of starting the Organizer with the Catalog that you previously had under XP . This generally works on most versions of PSE although I did have an experience with PSE 8 where it did not work initially.
4 - FYI - If your photo files were stored under My Pictures under XP, then I think that the other suggestions about PSE not being able to find photosand needing to do a PSE Backup are relevant -
"You catalog will be holding the absolute location of the files in the catalog. These will no longer be valid when porting to Win7 from XP"
However, if your photo files are stored on that second hard drive, I am skeptical about that conclusion.
5 - FYI - I have seen a report of successfully moving a physical second internal drive from old XP PC to new Windows 7 PC with PSE 10. I think that you should be able to do the same with PSE 8.

Can I have Leopard and Tiger on different drives???

The whole question: Can I have Tiger on one drive, Leopard on the other, and run the same programs from whichever one is the boot drive?
Will having the other OS on a nearby drive get in the way of anything? Both internal drives have Tiger on them, so If one goes nuts, the other might be helpful, but can that second drive become Leopard, so I can boot it and poke about? Will the Leopard drive be able to run the programs that are currently working within Tiger?
Is this asking too much?

Yes you can run Leopard on one drive and TIger on another - I currently have leopard on an external drive and Tiger on my internal drive
At David DeCristof's suggestion I cloned TIger onto the external drive (using Carbon Copy Cloner -- CCC) and upgraded to Leopard there
Since both drives contain all the same data and applications (at least started that way) I can run anything on either -- if I save data from Tiger that I want to keep after I clone Leopard back to my internal drive I will have to be careful to stove it on the external drive
It is, IMHO, a smart way to upgrade

Use the Migration Assistant. Their are specific files not in the application folder that contain preferences and the like. The Migration Assistant will move over those preferences as well as the applications themselves. Plus it takes WAY less time.

How do you re-install Lightroom 5, with all data and settings, if your drive has crashed?

I have a virus which may mean I will have to wipe my HD and re-install software.
I am concerned about losing data and settings when I re-install LR5.
Is everything recoverable through the LR catalogue?

Download / Installation - Want to download and install on different drives. How?

Hi,
About to install the CS6 Production Premium trial via download assistant before making a purchase and I would like to know if it is possible to download and install to one drive and then move installation to a completely seperate drive without messing it all up?
The main reason for this is that I do not download straight to SSD unless it is just some quick updates etc and instead have other drives that get write hammered and looking at the installation process I dont see a way to download to a diff drive other than the one you want the program on as an end result?
