Moving Dreamweaver CS5 Version 11 to Windows 7

I have Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 Version 11 running on XP.
I want to move it to Windows 7.
When I run "Adobe_Dreamweaver_CS5-AkamaiDLM.exe", the original installer (As Administrator) I get an error:
Any ideas?
Thanks,

I am retired.  In my active years, I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard and Dreamweaver CS5 for my Windows environment.  I recently spent a fortune to migrate to  Apple.  I now (and a bite late) realize that my licenses are not recognized by Adobe. I am desperate. I cannot afford the expense of buying or paying access to the software and, still,  I need the tools for all those little things I do for enjoyment. What can be done?

The licenses are operating system specific, so one option would be to retain use of the Windows machine you had before the Mac.
If you want to try to use the older stuff on your new Mac you can try installing Windows emulation software such as Bootcamp.

  • Running Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Windows 2008 R2

I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS5.5 on a Windows 2008 R2 server for use within Citrix environment. The installation seems to work properly and I can open the application the first time with no errors, however, every subsequent opening of the application displays only a splash screen for Dreamweaver, then either does not open at all or gives me a Windows error (0x00005). I have seen the forum comments about removing profile data and security - am running under the local admin account (full rights) and I have cleared the profile data with no change in behavior.
As a side note - I called Adobe support, and after being bounced around multiple times (and hung up on twice), they finally referred me to this forum - ????????

They sent you here because Windows 2008 Server is not supported by Dreamweaver, no server OS ever has been.  If you are using the Citrix apps to push installed applications to a networked computer the clients should be virtualizing a client OS to run them in such as Windows XP, 7 or 8.  They should not be running virtualized apps in a server OS.  If they need access to the server for maintenance or pushing files live, you should set up SFTP/FTPS or network access, including a network drive or remote desktop connection.  If they need a testing server and they are unable to run one on the client, then a second virtual machine should be setup for them to test in.

  • Is Dreamweaver cs5 compatible with Windows 8

Not Dreamweaver cs5.5, but cs5. Is it fully compatible with Windows 8?  It works with Windows 7.

I think it would make good sense.  I hesitate to buy their products because I feel I am going to be left high and dry when the next operating system comes out.  Every time my PC fails or is retired it is a guessing game as to what still works.  Since software is so expensive, I find I am buying less and less – too risky.  I simply do without and do not expand my IT horizons.  It is a lot cheaper for the parent company to try it out and give a report than for every single user to take the plunge and potentially drown.  The customers can only find out by installing the product.  If it doesn’t work then there is the task of getting it off.  Generally the software does not come off completely and the residue can cause complications.  The companies could test until it stops working and then say that from this point back you will have to buy a new one.  It sure would build consumer confidence and end a lot of aggravation.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 compatible with Windows 8

I just installed windows 8 on a new SSD and am trying to open Dreamweaver CS5 from my secondary hard drive.  I keep getting error "The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail"?  Won't Adobe CS5 work in Windows 8?
    Thanks,

Have you also reinstalled Dreamweaver on Windows 8? If so, and you still get the same error message, then maybe there is something here that could help: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-side-side-configuration-incorrect.html

  • Dreamweaver CS5 out of memory when trying to find and replace

Please help. I am running Dreamweaver CS5 on a windows 7 os. This has happened in previous versions as well. This is a new computer and a new install. There are no memory shortages on this machine.
I go to search for something, and select either folder or files in current site. It starts, then flashes the "out of memory" dialog box and stops the search. I have to force quit to leave the program.Over and over. Find and replace of a site or folder is a crucial function I use this program for!
    Thanks for any help

How big are the combined files in your Local Site folder?
My guess is that you have something really colossal such as server log files or something else that are causing DW to choke and freeze during its Find / Replace scan.
If you can identify the really huge files/folders in your site folder, you could use 'cloaking' to exclude them from DW operations.

  • Trying PhoneGap in Dreamweaver CS5.5

I have been trying out PhoneGap in Dreamweaver CS5.5. I've written up my experiences here:
    http://www.itwriting.com/blog/4261-hands-on-building-a-phonegap-app-with-dreamweaver-5-5.h tml
    http://www.itwriting.com/blog/4284-building-a-phonegap-app-for-iphone-with-adobe-dreamweav er-cs-5-5.html
I liked the developer experience in Dreamweaver itself, especially with the jQuery Mobile widgets. I ran into a couple of issues though and would be interested in any insights:
    1. Performance of PhoneGap/jQuery mobile apps seems poor on the Android Desire and iPhone 4 devices I tried. Are there any tips for improving the perforamnce of the UI?
    2. It seems tricky to deploy to anything other then the emulator, especially on iPhone. I resorted to importing the project into Xcode. Am I missing something here?

From what I understood, you have Dreamweaver CS5 version 11. You want to know if it is possible to use PhoneGap with Dreamweaver CS5 without upgrading to CS5.5. Right?

  • Dreamweaver CS5 WebDave often times out. Can I increase the timeout?

I am using WebDave to interact with my server. This has worked well for the last year, but for some reason my server load has increased and I am now getting timeouts often, which means pages fail to upload. Dreamweaver is not particularly good at letting you know the page did not upload, so I have a major headache trying to keep the server up-to-date. I have been working with the server people, but they have not found the load on this server to be particularly high and it is not swapping or anything. A good solution is to make WebDave inside of Dreamweaver a little bit more patient by increasing the timeout. FTP does not work for me, since my work firewall blocks FTP on the guest network.
Question: Is there a way of increasing the default timeout for WedDave connections?
    Dreamweaver: CS5 Version 11, Build 4993
    Computer: MacBook Pro 17" Mid 2010, OS X 10.9.3, 8GB

Ken you ask good questions. I actually don't know it is timeout, since Dreamweaver only includes in the FTP log successful messages. The failure is almost instantaneous. There is nothing on the Console Log on my Mac and nothing in the site log, but the site log is limited. I get the failure at home and work on two different WiFi. If I connect using a third party WebDav-namely the Mac built-in, then it works. If I use DW WebDav I get hit with failures about 1 out of 4. It sort of warms up after a few successful transfers and will work 3 out of 4 times. I suspect that the problem is related to the apache server is loaded and things are getting cached, and that DW is sensitive to this. That is the reason I wanted to desensitize DW. I don't have DW on a PC nor have access to a PC, but the Mac WebDav test was quite interesting.
I will try ethernet from home tonight. I was thinking of making sure I have the latest WebDAV running on the apache server, and in DW, but I really can't change either of these, even if I figure out that they are out of date. And if DW is updated, I can't afford the update since Adobe went subscription. I am volunteer and do my Web stuff for free for Academic and Non-Profits.

  • Can't launch Dreamweaver CS5.5 | Mac OS 10.6

When you try to launch Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Mac OS as a Network User with home folders on server, the application starts with the following occurrences:
The Dreamweaver menu appears in the menu bar, but other menus, such as File, Edit, View, or Dreamweaver specific menus do not appear.
The application does not appear on the screen at all.
This was an issue with Dreamweaver CS5 version 11.0.1 but an updated version of 11.0.4 fixed the issue. However, the issue reappeared with CS5.5 version 11.5.1.5344.
Any help to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  • Recovering Dreamweaver 3 preference and site info, ultimately migrating to cs5.5 on Windows XP

I had a hard drive failure in windows xp and have reinstalled windows xp and dreamweaver 3.  I have a backup of all my dreamweaver 3 files from the old machine, for example &sitename.dws, &sitename Changed.txt, &sitename Live.dws, &sitename Changed.txt.  I would like to have all my preferences, ftp info, etc. restored but cannot find any documentation on how to do that in Dreamweaver 3.
I tried replacing the following files with the backup versions:
    C:\Progam Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver3\Configuration\SiteCache
    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver3\Configuration\SourceFormat.txt
as these were the only files I saw that appeared to have been modified by using Dreamweaver on the XP machine before the drive failure.
Is there any Dreamweaver 3 documentation about the names of preferences files, site files, and how to replace the default install files with backed up versions?
All help is sincerely appreciated as I have not been able to figure this out on my own.  I considered just replacing all the DW install files with my backup, but that would probably mess up the registry and I can't chance that.
Ultimately I will be moving to CS5.5--if I ever get my backed up information into my newly installed Dreamweaver 3, is there a way to migrate those preferences, site info, etc. to CS5.5?

Murray 'ACP', you are correct--DW3 does not have the option to back up to *.ste files, so I believe that pzciena is correct in stating that site information in DW3 is found in the registry and I can't recover that using files from my drive backup.  The reason I asked the question is because I am having trouble when using the FTP "Put" function to FTP files over to my website. The "Put" operation creates a subdirectory to the root file on the host.
The host directory is named "web" and I specify /web in my dreamweaver remote host site definition.  The "Put" operation creates a subdirectory using the same name as my local files subdirectory.  That is, on the local side, the file I am "put"ting is in subdirectory /hostsave and when it FTPs to the remote side, it creates a directory named "hostsave".  I deleted that directory on the remote side and tried FTPing a second time and it created the directory again.  This does not happen if I use Ipswitch to FTP the file, but I would prefer using the file transfer within dreamweaver since it checks to make sure I'm ftping all the image files in the .html file I'm PUTting.
I obviously have not re-created something correctly in redefining my site.  ????

  • Installing Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 and PhotoShop 5.5 on windows 2008 R2 SP1 using Terminal services

    Hi All,
Is it possible to install Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 and PhotoShop 5.5 on windows 2008 R2 SP1 using Terminal services. We are planning to use xenapp to publish these application.
Please let me know if this is a supported environment.
    Regards
    Radhika

As far as I know you will NOT be able to access OpenGL functionality through Terminal Services. as the OpenGL implementation provided in that environment is software, version 1.1 - not GPU-accelerated.
I seem to recall there was a thread about a year ago here where someone was trying to do what you are asking.  I vaguely remember they were able to make it work, but I'm not sure.  You might try doing a search of this forum.

CS5 for Windows can only be installed on Windows operating system.
You would need to purchase CS5 for Mac OS.
Given that CS5 is now 4 versions back, it's unlikely you'll find a copy.
You could get DW CC from the Creative Cloud which supports both Win/Mac platforms.

  • Just Upgraded to Firefox 8.0.1 and now cannot use Firefox preview in Dreamweaver CS5.5...any one else have this issue? I have seen this before in previous version of Firefox but got fixed.

Not able to use firefox browser preview in Dreamweaver CS5.5 after upgrade to version 8.0.1. Now can preview only in Safari.

Don't know if there is an option make the download window stay up, but you can bring it back with Ctrl+J then right-click on the download to open the folder it was downloaded to.
