Moving email from BT Yahoo to BT Mail

Since the announcement that BT was moving all mail accounts from Yahoo to BT Mail, I have been looking forward with anticipation to the day when I can properly synchronise my account on my Android phone.  However the months have past and I have heard nothing about when my mail account is to be migrated.
Is there anyway I can find more information on the schedule for the move?  I'm getting frustrated with the lack of updates on the BT site which still just says we will all be migrated by the end of the year.  Well that is only a couple of weeks away and I'm yet to hear.
Some updates would be nice please.
Many thanks.

Hi barnpiece,
Yes BT Retail know what is going on. BT Retail are following a system and software development plan and timeline . Over the next coming weeks you may be notified on additional information on the changes and migration of existing BT email accounts on the BTYahoo platform to the new BT mail system and platform .
You have to understand that it's not an easy task. The new system would have needed to be planned, developed, tested, trailed  and then follow a system transition plan. All these stages take time if you want things to go smoothly.
I would rather BT Retail take there time to migrate over the existing BT email accounts to the new platform rather than do it in a hurry.

  • Deleting emails from a yahoo account through Mail

I am new to the Apple and I am able to get my emails from my yahoo account, but I believe that there is a way to delete the messages from my yahoo account through MAIL. Can I set Mail up automatically to delete these messages from my Yahoo account? Am I correct and if so, how is this done?
Otherwise, it does not seem very useful to access my yahoo account through Mail because I will have to go back to my yahoo account and clean through them anyway.
    Thanks

Presumably you have a paid-for Yahoo account which permits POP* access (the free account doesn't). If you have this set up in Mail, go to Mail Preferences>Accounts>the Yahoo account: click 'Advanced' and tick 'Remove copy from server after retrieving a message' (though actually this is the default so it ought already to be ticked): set the pop-up menu below this to 'Right away'.

  • Transfer emails from sky/yahoo to icloud mail

I have a sky email account and everthing was fine, with synchronising between imac, ipad and iphone. Sky has now changed from google to yahoo and synchronisation of sent emails seems to be non existent. I don't feel inclined to try and sort it out.
I have set up an icloud mail account and would like to transfer my emails from from my sky/yahoo account to icloud so that i have one integrated account. Is this possible and if so, how do i do it.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Regards, jon

Do you have a forwarding feature with your Sky/Yahoo account?  If so have all emails forwared to your iCloud account.
When you respond to those emails from your iCloud account you can add a note to alert them that you now have a new email account.

  • How can I send email from my yahoo alias account in iPhone5 mail?

How can I send email from my yahoo alias account in iPhone5 mail?
I have 2 email accounts: [email protected] is an alias of [email protected]
In my old iPhone3 I had these accounts set up so that I could send and receive email from both accounts. I did this using the following settings:
    ‘Other’ POP account info:
    Name: xyz
    Address: [email protected]
    Description: alias
    Incoming mail server:
    Host name: pop.mail.yahoo.com
    User name: [email protected]
    Password: password for yahoo account
    Server port: 995
    Outgoing mail server:
SMTP: smtp.o2.co.uk (o2 is the name of my phone network)
    Server port: 25
    ‘Yahoo!’ account info:
    Name: xyz
    Address: [email protected]
    Password: password for yahoo account
    Description: Yahoo!
    Outgoing mail server:
    Primary server: Yahoo! SMTP server
    Server port: 465
I’ve tried using the same settings in my new iPhone5, but it doesn’t work. I can receive mail to both accounts, and can send from the Yahoo account, but I cannot send mail from the alias account. When I try, it displays the message: “Cannot send mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient ‘[email protected]’ was rejected by the server”.
I’ve tried to configure the POP alias account using combinations of ‘pop.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.com’, for the incoming host, and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server. None of these have worked.
I’ve also tried setting it up using IMAP instead of POP without success. I tried configuring it using combinations of ‘imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the incoming mail server and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server.
Yahoo say that if I can't send Yahoo! Mail from my mail program, I may be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port, and that if this is the case, I should try setting the SMTP port number to 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. I don't think that this is the problem, but I tried it just to make sure - without success.
I’ve also heard that the problem might have something to do with the SPF settings of my alias domain provider. I’m not too sure exactly what SPF settings are, or how to change them, but from what I can gather it seems unlikely that this is the problem given that I was able to send mail from my alias account on my old iPhone3.
Any help much appreciated: how can I get my alias account to send emails in iPhone5 mail?
    Many thanks,
    Patrick

A new development: I've tried sending emails from the alias several times over the past 24 hours, but in general I've deleted them if they haven't sent within about half an hour.
However, one of the messages I left sitting in the outbox did send successfully in the end, but this took about an hour.
So: perhaps my problem is not in fact that I am completely unable to send mail from my alias, but that I can only do so intermittently and extremely slowly, and by ignoring the "cannot send" message.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Iphone5 - lost my contacts when moving from BT Yahoo to BT Mail. I do not back up to iCloud and I did not use my mail account for contacts.  Can anyone help to find and restore my contacts?

IPhone5. I have lost my contacts when moving from BT Yahoo to BT Mail. I do not backup to iCloud and do not use my mail account to store contacts.  Can anyone help find the contacts on my phone and restore them?

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service like Gmail, iCloud, or an Exchange server.
Have you failed to use the device as designed?

  • I receive email from a yahoo account and a gmail account. thunderbird always shows a notice when yahoo mail arrives but never for gmail

I receive email from a yahoo account and a gmail account. thunderbird always shows a notice when yahoo mail arrives but never for gmail and the settings are the same help! TIA

well turn it off and see if that makes a change. After all IDLE is a server technology. If Google supports it and Yahoo does not then configuring Thunderbird the same means nothing. (I have no idea if Yahoo support it or not)

  • I can't recieve or send e-mails from my yahoo account in mail. Also, what should I do to repair the screen of my iPad 2 if I don't have any Apple warranty?

For some unknown reason, I have been having issues when sending and recieving e-mails from my Yahoo account in mail on my iPad, but can use mail just fine on my iPhone. Why is this, and how do I fix it?
I accidentally dropped my iPad 2 on Monday, it hit my foot, and the screen cracked. I recieved this iPad some time in August 2011, and no longer have any sort of warrany on it. Should I take it in to Apple and get a replacement, or have a third party fix it? And if so, how much would it cost, and where should I go?

I am glad we were able to get your email working again. Please reach out anytime you need us.
    Thanks,

  • Z10 keeps deleting emails from my Yahoo email

I just upgraded to the Z10 from a torch and I am having a problem.
On my torch when I deleted an email from my yahoo account the phone would ask if I just wanted to delete the email on my phone or all togehter.  I used to like to keep a few important emails so that I could log in at home to get them.
On my Z10 when I delete the email it is deleted from the device and my yahoo account.
Is there a way to keep the emails at Yahoo but delete them from the phone?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
At present, no. Previously, BIS provided the interface between the BB and the mail server. Now, BIS is gone, replaced with a full on-device email client. The way it is presently designed, it is intended to be a replica between your server and your device (within the max 30 day rolling window). We are all hoping that some things such as you desire will return in future updates, but there is no way to know for sure. For now, it is what it is -- WAD (Working As Designed).
    Good luck!

  • Deleting emails from my yahoo account

I have an issue when deleting emails from my yahoo account on my Mac.  For some reason, I'll highlight the email(s) I want to delete, and hit the delete key.  The email won't delete until it's highlighted again and I hit delete again.  It has been doing this for a while and only does it when I access Yahoo on my Mac, and only my yahoo account.  Does anybody have an idea of what might be the issue?

Are you using Mac Mail or going straight to Yahoo Mail using your browser...?
I never use Mac Mail so can't offer much help with it. If you are, try going straight to Sign in to Yahoo from your browser and see if you can correctly delete any unwanted messages that way.

  • Importing eMail from NetScape 7.2 to Mail 2.1?

I am trying to import eMail from NetScape 7.2 to Mail 2.1. Is this possible? In Mail Help it sort of implies that this may not work but it never says it won't work!
    Thanks,
    -Joe

Not sure what you mean about Mail Help implying that it may not work. It should work doing File > Import Mailboxes and choosing Other as the data format, but you’d get better results using Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to do the conversion, adapting the instructions for Mozilla/Thunderbird to your particular situation (the mailbox format used by Netscape and Mozilla/Thunderbird is the same).
Eudora Mailbox Cleaner requires rebuilding the imported mailboxes in Mail afterwards, but instead of rebuilding them one by one, you may re-create the entire index as follows:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see any other “Envelope Index”-named file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Transferring saved emails from BT Yahoo UK Webmail

I am a BT Yahoo UK customer and have been using their web mail to manage my email for the last few 5 years. I therefore have many emails saved in various folders.
Six months ago I bought my first Mac and set up the Mail.app to access by BT Yahoo account. I now use Mail.app for all email and don't use the BT Yahoo UK Web Mail at all except to access saved emails. This is a nuisance.
Is there a way to transfer my saved emails on BT Yahoo's Web Mail servers to the Mail.app on my MacBook?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Regards,
    Jon.
    macbook 1.83   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1 Gig RAM 80G HD

If I’ve understood it correctly, you’ve now set up the account in Mail as POP, right? In that case, all you have to do is move the archived mail to Inbox so that Mail can see and download it. Do that with one folder at a time, so that you can keep your mail organized however you want.

  • Moving email from Outlook Express on Windows XP to Leopard Mail

What are the steps I should take to move my email from a Windows XP computer running Outlook Express to my new iMac running OS X 10.5 and Mail?
I'm assuming I have to move the mailbox files from the Windows machine to the iMac and then run some kind of import.
Where are the mailbox files on the Windows machine and what are they called?
Does Mail support a direct import of those files or do I have to convert them somehow? If I have to convert them, is there an export command in Outlook Express that will do the trick? If not, what do I need to do to convert the files? Is there an application (preferably a free one that can do the trick)?
Finally, anything I should know about that could cause an import of email to choke - bad characters in folder names, too many emails in a folder, subsubfolders, etc.?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

Since there were no responses, I figured I'd post my own solution. After searching around online, there seem to be several ways to accomplish this. The first I tried was installing Thunderbird on the XP box and importing the Outlook Express email into it. This seemed to have grabbed most of my email. For some reasons a few boxes did not show up in Thunderbird though. Next step was to move the Thunderbird mailboxes over to the Leopard box and run the import process in Mail. This worked for all of my boxes except my Sent mail which choked the import routine (spinning beach ball). So, I went back into Thunderbird and split the 12K emails in the sent box into 6 separate email boxes and moved those over to the Mac. They imported fine. Then I just moved the messages back into the sent box.
That still left the few mystery mail folders that didn't import into Thunderbird. For those, I downloaded a utility that converted dbx to mbox format. Ran it on those boxes, renamed the new file extensions to mbox from mbx and moved those to the Mac and imported them into Leopard.
For some reason one box still didn't come across. But I just forwarded the 8 emails in that box to myself.
It took forever (mainly because the XP machine was so slow and because of the number of emails). But, it did work.
