Moving entire site to DW - running into problems

Ok, I'm moving a pretty big site over to Dreamweaver from *ahem* Netscape Composer. It's long overdue, I know. I built the entire site through Composer, and dumped every single file into one huge folder on my server, which is now causing me headaches for obvious reasons. My local files are scattered around on my hard drive, so I re-did the whole thing.
I think I've properly categorized my website now in DW with folders and sub-folders, and I'm hoping it'll "mirror" correctly on the server when I upload. I haven't put it on the server yet, since I want to make sure it's correct first - also because I'll have to delete all the existing files on the server.
This site is my family photo album, and I have thumbnails pointing to the regular-size images. I also have my assorted backgrounds, bars, clip-art, etc on the site. When I open one of my HTML pages (which I've downloaded from the server) in DW, it just gives me broken links for my icons and images still.
My main concern is - do I have to go in and manually re-link all my existing links, or can/will DW do it when it saves my changes locally? Otherwise - what a headache I'm in for, and a huge expenditure of time it's going to take me.

Make sure you have properly defined your site in Dreamweaver...local site folder, etc., and that all your site files are IN that folder. Then, once you get it all working correctly locally, it will work correctly when you upload it back to your server. Do not upload it prematurely, because you will then have a site that might not work (on the server) and have to correct it in two places.
To help you along, Dreamweaver will run a list of broken links. I think that your version supports that. Check out the broken links one by one (at least in the new version, you can double-click them and bring up the associated file that needs linking) right from the broken links results page.

I've run into problems with Flash Player 10,0,45,2. In IE 8, FF 3.6.3 and Google Chrome (which I downloaded as a last ditch measure), some websites (such as youtube) work fine. Other sites such as wimp.com I get an empty box. I've reinstalled flash, but haven't seen much else in these forums to try to figure out what the problem is.

Changing the site to be dynamic, running into problems

I have a site I've been working on for several weeks. The
individual sections are fairly dynamic in terms of actionscript
running most of the frame, and each section only being one frame.
I'm trying to get rid of the timeline altogether by using
attachMovie, and am running into some issues. I need it to go to
the label "start_fr" when they enter in a set password and
username, and nothing is happening when I press the submit button.
I think it may be because I'm motion tweening the login_mc,
so my actionscript is inside the last frames tween(I'm eventually
dynamically programming those too, but on thing at a time, right!?)
. Am I on track? Is this where listeners come into play,
because I've had the most trouble with that concept as I move on to
learning more true dynamic programming.

Actually what happening here is : It will attach Lot of
movieClips with the name of login. So Access problem will occur.
OnEnterFrame is a infinite loop. you have to Remove it manually. or
use onLoad instead of onEnterFrame
if your submit button is inside the login_mc. u have to use
login_mc.submit_btn.onRelease = function();

New to Accessibility and have run into problems I can't seem to find answers to.

At my job I've been trying to learn how to make files accessible for a client. I've watched many videos and scoured forums but there are some issues and can't seem to resolve and was wondering if anyone would be able to assist.
1.Table tagging- all the information I've been able to find on this suggests that you create a table style for your table in indesign and apply it (it doesn't have to have anything in it really, just as long as there is a style applied?). Then make sure you have header row that is tagged as such. I've got that, but beyond that I can't find any more information. I was having to apply paragraph styles to each cell in the table to get it to pass the accessiblity checker in acrobat.
2. Forms- When it comes to tagging forms in my pdf, I was having to click on "find" under the tags panel and manually tag them, then manually move them to their correct locations. Is there a better way to do this? Also, I was hoping I could copy and paste forms from one document to the next but I lose all tags on those forms when I do that.
3. I have a lot of documents where I have "*" or "†" used next to a word to trigger a legal disclosure at the bottom of the document. Would the proper way to use these be to make them a hyperlink to the disclosures at the bottom? I was initially going to cross-reference them to the disclosures, but since the cross-reference places new text (ex, See below, or See Section Title), I would then have to re-submit all my text to legal to have them approve it all over again.
4. I have created metadata information for a logo used in my files but I notice it has the tag name "pathpathpathpathpath". Any clue why?
5. Sometimes words are broken into two or three tags instead of one fluid word tag, such as c or poration, instead of just corporation.
6. Everytime I run the accessiblity checker I get the notification that "tab order failed". I know I can right click and hit fix, is that ok?
7. I sometimes have empty tags where a space is, do I need to delete these?
8. I can't seem to get the whole document to read aloud to test it. I can get it to read the copy I've selected but I can't really test the reading order on this.

1. I am not an Indesign user, so I cannot help you there. Table tagging in Acrobat can be complex, especially if the table is not regular (same number of cells in every row). Please post any specific questions regarding table tagging.
2. I do not know of an easier way of tagging form fields. With practice, it is not too burdensome. After all the work of creating, positioning, and configuring the form fields, I find tagging the fields to be the easiest step.
3. I would tag the "*" or "†" as an in-line Reference, tag the disclosure as a Note, then position the Note as close as practical to the Reference in the document structure without disrupting the reading flow. Usually this is right after the paragraph that includes the Reference.
4. This is normal. “path” is the word Acrobat uses for a some graphical elements. If the metadata is alt text you will find it in the tag properties.
5. I would retag the paragraph (or header, or whatever it is) using the Touchup Reading Order tool.
6. In the Acrobat Page Thumbnails pane, select all the pages then right-click, Page Properties, and select Use Document Structure on the Tab Order pane.
7. The tags are probably not empty, but rather contain the space character. These do not seem to cause any problems but to me they clutter up the tag tree so I tag the spaces as background artifacts.
8. An easier way to check the reading order is to use a tool that lets you see the document in the way an AT user would hear it. PDFgoHTML from Callas Software (http://www.callassoftware.com/callas/doku.php/en:products:pdfgohtml), and the screen-reader preview feature in PAC 1.3 (http://www.access-for-all.ch/en/pdf-lab/pdf-accessibility-checker-pac/dl132.html) are my favorites.

Running Windows on MacBook Pro - running into problems

I installed Windows XP on my MacBook Pro (Late 2008 model) and everything seems to be running fine. I installed all of my drivers with no problem. Windows is installed on a 31GB partition.
I installed Windows for one reason and one reason only - to print W-2s at my job. There is a small program I need to install, and it comes on a disc that is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Whenever I go to install the program, I insert the disc into the drive and it just makes a noise like it is trying to load and then spits the disc back out.
I thought maybe it was just this program, but it's not - it does it with any disc I try to put in.
Is this a fixable problem? Can I even run PC discs on my Mac (with Windows)?
I'm pretty new to this whole thing so any insight would be appreciated!

Yes you can install Windows programs from a disk when you are booted into Windows.
31GB partition for Windows is very small. Maybe there is not enough space in the Windows partition for the programs you are trying to install. How much free space is there in the Windows partition and how large are the programs? Remember that Windows needs some free space just to run, just as OSx needs free HD space for it to run.

When you have multi iphones and multi ipads, is it really best to have separate itunes accounts. My husband and I really seems to be running into problems now that I have a new I pad and we have one itunes account.

I just purchased the New Ipad, my husband and I have 2 Iphones (4 & 4s) and he has the Ipad 2, we are "technically" challenged, that I will put out there right up front . We've had nothing but troubles with the imessaging, and messages stating that they have been delivered but not received. I am not sure if it's more confusing with us having this one Itunes account, if it's best for me to have my Itunes account and my husband having his own. The Itunes account is my husband's and for some reason, the imessager doesn't recognize "him" being registered, but it sees everyone else. It wasn't working last night, but this morning, it worked, but when I tried to send him a text from my iphone this morning, it said, delivered, but he never got it, the only way I could get it to work, was to turn off, imessaging. It's become very confusing and I am not sure why. I am thinking, I will remove my Iphone from his Itunes account, set up my own (as we have too much problem with this Icloud, his contacts, his music, etc). Any thoughts, suggest, help, would be greatly appreciated. Not sure what this problem is all the sudden with the imessager, we had no problem before I got my Ipad (which has not been synced with his Itunes yet as an additonal device) I am sure if there is a problem with how we have our contacts listed). I've tried reading articles and again, being technically challenged, it is hard to follow sometimes.

You and your husband can share a store account and still have seperate iCloud accounts for your contacts, bookmarks and stuff like that. Click here for instructions to make an apple account without entering a credit card. Make sure you use a different email address for each apple account.
Set up your iPhone/iPad whatever using the new account for iCloud. Then go into settings/store and sign in with your purchasing account, you may need to sign out of the other account. To the best of my knowledge, your household is allowed to share purchased legally, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Once you each have your own devices set to your own accounts you can set them to backup to that account and it will keep all your contacts seperate.

Just made the switch and running into problems immediately

Been a lifelong PC user and switched to a MacBook Pro with the update yesterday. I got home, charged it up immediately, and went for my initial boot-up.
First problem, right as I'm finalizing setup and creating my login and password, I get a "you must shut down now" prompt. That's a crash, right? I can't think of any reason for that to happen off the bat except maybe because of the wi-fi connection, since I had just entered my network password.
Second, I restart and can't find any wi-fi hosts, even though there's several in range. I run network diagnostics, turn AirPort off and on, still nothing. I finally tried rebooting again and now AirPort detects my wi-fi network.
Had to leave for work so I couldn't fuss around more but should I be worried about my MacBook or its wi-fi? I'm excited about finally having OS X full time but would hate to have ended up with a lemon.

First, ensure the problem is still there, since it could be something simple. Second, call AppleCare and notify them of the issue. If they can’t resolve the matter over the phone, then request/demand a Dead On Arrival (DOA) designation, and have them send you a replacement unit. Personally, I would also ask them for some sort of compensation i.e. hardware upgrade, discount, etc. Occasionally, they do this but you typically have to request it politely. Remind them that you’re a “PC switcher”.

Migration 3.x data source to BI 7 run into problem - Export Datasource

Dear Expert,
I have got a problem with the data source replicated from BW 3.5 into BI 7.
The details are as below:
- I replicated the BI 7 for a data source 8ZRAC_DSO from BW 3.5
- after replication, the version of data source remain as Modified
- I am not able to activate
- In order to activate it, I try to perform the migration with the option of 'with export'
- I got stuck with the error message as below:
'Export DataSource 8ZRA_DSO (BIPCLNT100) in myslef system object type RSDS not possible'
Do you have any suggestion to resolve this problem?
Is it a right way to get the data source activated?

With 7.0 export datasources are obsolete. And the system doesnt allow you to do the migration. Instead you would need to create a transformation between the Original DS/Infosource to the Target.
Example -
Updating data from ODS to Cube
Right click on Data store object-> create transformation ->give the target cube name->give the load option either full or delta-> activate the transformation and load data from ods to cube by clicking execute in third tab
DTP required between DSO and Infocube to handle DELTAS.

Running into problems zooming in on a component made in Flash

I created a component in flash CS3 and am trying to put some
kind of zoom feature on it, but when I zoom in on it it zooms right
out of the Panel it sits in. What's the problem here?

components surrounding it. The first thing is to place the Flash
component in a Box (a workaround for the bug where components do
not accept percentage sizing as a box always scales to fit the size

Running into problems with Adobe Acrobat 8.1.2 on 64-bitWindows Vista

I am installing Acrobat 8.0 Standard on a Windows Vista machine.
During the installation, it asks for a file called, AdobePDF.Dll for Adobe Acrobat Vista disk. I searched the Adobe Installation CD
for that file but could not find it. I chose to cancel but the installation went ahead. It seems to have successfully installed Acro
bat but I would like to get an explanation of the missing file and any problems I may encounter as a result.
When I print to a PDF, the Printque says spooling but I am never prompted for file name. It never finishes. Even when I tried to cancel printing, it does not seem to go away.

I would agree with Reply 1. From the stack trace it is apparent that it comes from Struts, where it is failing to set some kind of property in a bean. However the code that you posted doesn't seem to have anything to do with that. Check your Struts configuration.

Has anyone run into the I/O error 52 when trying to load something from a relative path in extend script?

I'm having issues when loading something in a relative path through a script, on my computer I have no issues, but on 2 other devices at work, it's not working. Even at home on a PC and mac I haven't run into problems, anyone have insight on this?

I remembered we have weird permission issues at work. Somewhere between my Home Windows 8 machine(horrible permissions issues with network), my home mac, email and my work computer, some permission got out of whack. The workaround for this was copying the file to my desktop, back to the exact same spot on the network. This resolved all issues.

3 problems that I've run into

So to start out, I've been using Photoshop for about 3 years and I have just started messing with Dreamweaver for web design. In Photoshop I've just started using the slice tool and exporting the image of a web site I made myself into Dreamweaver which is an amazing feature, now I got everything exported and into Dreamweaver in a new site and things were looking good until I realized everything was squared off. I also have a gradient background on my page, I took the marquee tool in Photoshop and cut out a single pixel line of the background vertically to try and match it up but unfortunately the quality does not match between the two which in turn makes it look pretty bad near the bottom

As you can see theres a weird line on the right side and the snow flakes are cut off on the sides of the site. I havent started on the buttons yet because I want to make sure I go about making this the right way first.
I have a little bit of experience with HTML and CSS, I can do minor edits and add things fairly easily.
So in a brief manner here are the problems I am facing
Problem #1. - Background gradient does not match site
How should I match this up?
Problem #2. - Images will cut off at the end of the pages
(a work around for this would be to expand the entire site accross the whole page, if I wanted to do that how could I? Is it a good solution?)
Problem #3. - Content box
I have come to the conclusion that I am going to have the grey box in the middle house all of my content for each tab except for the email client, that links off to an external page for Outlook Web Access which is already made. Can someone point me to a tutorial on a good way to make a content box? I know I could do it with a table but I've heard that isnt a good way to do it....I'd like it to be able to expand and condense automatically if needed, I messed around with it and found that the whole Image will loop again if I keep putting in spaces, I assume I would need to cut off the bottom of the content box off and make that a footer and then leave the rest in the middle.

This is what I was worried about, I assume the slice and export tool would be good for just using the images for the website right? Just delete the HTML page after your done exporting and build from there?
Your CSS for this is a bit weird - * { background-image: url(bg.jpg);} This would have the effect of applying that background image to EVERY ELEMENT on the page, not just the body, which is where you would want it to be. But beyond that, I'm not quite sure what you are saying here.
The snowflakes are cut off because your slices cut them off (see this - http://birchlake.ath.cx/newbirch/images/index_06.gif, or this - http://birchlake.ath.cx/newbirch/images/index_04.gif).
About the gradient problem, I just noticed it was happening only on my second screen I guess that is only a problem with different brightnesses and contrasts for monitors.

That's a VERY poor choice. One should never elect to vertically constrain your text content unless you have built the container to be vertically flexible. Otherwise, your text can potentially overflow the height of the container and create a mess. I want the box to be vertically flexible, I read through the page layout link and its basically saying that tables are shouldnt be exploited for your content because they explode if a user changes the browser text size and that I should use div tags, absolute positioning, and margins instead....
The front page box is only going to have a few things on it. But I need it to commodate a picture gallery and a contact form.....How would I begin to do that?
