Moving existing Blogger blog into iWeb site

I have an existing web site and am recreating it using iWeb
This includes a blog of some years which is created via Blogger.
Can I import my blogger blog (or the code from it) into an iWeb page so that it has the same look and feel?
I'd also wnat to ensure that whenever I publish changes to the iWeb site that it does not overwrite the Blogger Blog page - is this possible?

Keith ~ iWeb doesn't have an import capability. And even if it did, I would recommend you stick with Blogger — that way you'll avoid recurring problems such as these:
Changed theme on main blog page, lost all entries
Lost two years of blog comments
...iWeb's blog is simply not a robust one — see the following thread started by a concerned person which has a satisfactory ending with a non-iWeb blog:

  • Publishing Blogger blog to iWeb site

I just set up a blog at Blogger.com and I want to publish it on my website that's hosted on the .Mac server. Blogger.com asks for the settings like the FTP address, blog url, ftp path, blog filename, feed filename, FTP user name, and FTP password. I'm not sure what these settings are, and I haven't created a page or file for this Blogger.com blog yet. How do I do that? Do I use iWeb to do that? My website was created and published through iWeb '08 and uses my domain name of www.felacofamily.com. Thanks for your help!
    Krista

Hi there Krista, hopefully this will help you some. I will list my settings for my domain "www.theblackhole.se" below. However, i do not use .Mac rather an external webhotel/host.
FTP server - ftp.theblackhole.se (the FTP servername my webhost gave my account)
Blog URL - http://www.theblackhole.se (your domain basically)
FTP Path - left it blank
Blog filename - blog.html (I am pretty sure this is what contols what your final URL will be for your Blog as my Blog URL ended up as being blog.theblackhole.se with these settings - just experiment)
Feed filename - atom.xml (i think this is generated automatically, otherwise just enter what mine says)
FTP username - In my case this is whatever i use to log in at my webhost controlpanel, my username that is.
    FTP password - see above.
Perhaps you should contact Apple regarding this, or switch to another host then .Mac
Good luck, let us know how it turned out!

  • Embedding a Blogger Blog into my Muse Site

Hi is it possible to embed a Blogger blog into my website? Or does Muse have a RSS Feed?

    Thank you for posting.
Muse being a designing software, doesn't have RSS feed option. However, if you publish your site to BC, you will have the RSS feed and blog features as well. But if you want to host the site externally, you can embed blogger blog into muse site using iframe as mentioned in this doc https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/blogger-help-howdoi/Jy1sjSCTslE. You need to get the iframe code and insert it as html in your muse site.
    Hope this helps.

  • Transfer Blogger blog to iWeb/MobileMe

I want to move a blog from Blogger to iWeb and then publish it to MobileMe. The blog is currently published to my own domain and now I want to move the whole thing. How do I do that?

Blogger has various features you cannot duplicate in iWeb's blog. I would recommend you keep it and either link to it from an iWeb site or use an iframe on an iWeb page to incorporate it.

  • Iweb/iphoto: not able to put photos into iweb site unless named by me!

This is wierd, surely this cant be right. I am building a site in iweb. Sometimes I can drag the photo in no problem, to drop it on the page - any type page, doesnt have to be a Photo /Albums page.
But other times, only the name of the file and a box comes onto the page- no actual photo. Seems to be when the name of the photo file is from the camera, because photos named by me seem to be ok. (But not always! )
Other times, the photo I'm dragging just springs back.
Please can someone tell me what's happening and how to get round! Becuase I am stuck - I cant put the phtos I want into my website.
(I find iphoto pretty annoying anyway - I prefer the way I used to organise my phots on pc, more logical with me naming the folders. I get in such a muddle- it's so much easier to orgaise photo files in Finder, but they still end up messy in iphoto because it doesnt recocgnise the changes Ive just made with Finder! arrggghhhh!!!)

Have all your photos been taken with your camera, if so, they are all jpgs. You can take them from iphoto and place them on to the desktop into a folder. They should all work when you place them into iweb. I have been able to drag and drop illustrator files, photoshop files and jpgs, all which were photos in the first place. It shouldn't matter what they are.
The ones that don't work have you manipulated them in photoshop?

  • Help adding blogger blog to MUSE site

I want to add my blogger blog to MUSE, i pasted the RSS/HTML to the arbitrary HTML box, but it doesnt show up in any preview. Anyone have the same problem? Know a solution?

    Hey Courtney,
I've been looking for something simple like the atom.xml solution provided over PM but for the RSS, and there isn't one avaialble.
Because Muse does not have a "native" RSS feed widget, you'll have to use that at least for the moment (source) or you can look up an alternative solution like this one.
    Cheers,

  • Incorporating a Wordpress Blog into iWeb

Hi, I'm aware of using an iFrame + code which I've tried. However iWeb has quite a narrow layout and cannot show all of the Wordpress page.
So I'm wondering if others have encounted this. Is it a matter of choosing the right Wordpress theme (currently Twent Ten) or scaling down the Wordpress page?
Also a scroll bar does not seem to appear with the embedded Blog.

No. You can increase the width of the page in iWeb - I don't use a template, preferring the white so that I can create my own site, so my page width is always about 900, which does not present a problem.
You can adjust the size of an iframe by altering the width and height in the html snippet.
Add the scrolling feature by just add scrolling="yes".

  • Inserting music track into iWeb site

    Hallo
Can anyone tell me how to insert some music into my website at http://www.peterdewitscafe.co.uk? Specifically, I would like to play a track I have recorded in realPlayer. I have the program icon on my desktop, but I dont know how to copy it into a page of my site.
    Thanks
    toymaker1

First issue should be the author of the file and the permission to use the work in your pages. If you didn't create it you must ask for permission to use it.
iLife includes GarageBand and you can find some fun in making your own audio files.
It's difficult on a Mac to convert .ra (Real Audio) formats to QuickTime formats and iWeb only uses QuickTime.

  • How to encorporate a blog into my site

    Hi,
I am busy redesigning my webpage and I currently have a "newsfeed" section on my site..however when I upload new pics and details I basically add another column and row and shift all my content so that I have space at the top of my table to add a new  news item. I want to change this.
Surely I can create a far quicker and easier way so that when I want to update the table shifts down and leaves the column and row at top empty? i dont mind ftping it if I can do this. Or create some kind of action? Can anyone tell me the steps to creating this? Please?
otherwise I was thinking of merging a wordpress file into my index file but it seems way to complicated....I am not a coder just a designer
Any help would ease my pain!

There's no action or magic handshake. Either you use PHP or you don't. Even if you use a watch folder, you still have to have some script that generates the actual HTML from your uploaded data, don't you think? That being so, you probably can't avoid integrating a CMS into your pages. The only otehr option is probably some hunky Spry widget, that auto-scans a given folder and displays the content, but the more your collection grows, the slower it will become and browsers that suppress Java, will of course show nothing at all that way...

  • Bringing already existing html pages into iWeb, possible???

My sister is a graphic designer who created some html pages for me using Dreamweaver & GoLive. I want to update the text, images, and tables in these pages, and thought I could use iWeb, but it only wants to let me use it's templates.
Am I doing something wrong? Seems like there should be an easy way to do this. (If this is impossible in iWeb, can anyone recommend another software option?)

can anyone recommend another software option?

  • Use iBog created blog with iWeb created web site?

Just began playing around with iWeb, and so far, like it a lot. But I already have a published blog using iBlog. Can I import that existing blog? Do I just link to it?
    Thx,

You can't import your iBlog created blog into iWeb, but you can create a link to it from one of your iWeb pages.

  • Integrate WP blog into Muse website

    Hi,
I am about to design my own page, but would like to integrate my existing Wordpress Blog into a Muse site. Since both designs are very different, I would like to design in Muse and include the WP blog with very simple design into a Muse site. In the beginnings of HTML, you were able to include other sites (remember those ugly scroll bars).
is there any smart way to include this blog into an existing Muse website - pretty much have a header/footer/nav bar surronding the blog.
Thanks for your help and also examples,
    Markus

I don't think this is going to be very helpful.
I have been researching this.  I like most Muse users am not a coder,
I love Muse in that it allows me to create what I am thinking about without mucking around in any code
But here is the problem....Muse creates an HTML site whereas Wordpress sites are PHP sites
I think the only way you could do it it properly is to either install wordpress onto a sub folder on your site named whatever you want your blog to be called and find a similar wordpress theme to your site then add a Photoshop button to link to that blog
or....and this is the one I am going to play with and if I can get it to work I will post my step by step instructions....because no one that I can find has tried to give a detailed how to on this process.
1.Create your site with Muse with a page for your blog in the site tree
    2.Export to HTML
    3. Open the Blog page with dreamweaver or another web coding program
    4. change it to a PHP
    5. add the code needed to make Wordpress work on this page
    6. publish your site
I will admit I am really fuzzy on 5 at this point but I am working on it.
You will still need to upload Wordpress to your site
Can anyone at least tell me if this will work.

  • Importing existing site made in another app into iWeb

    Hi,
Is it possible to import to iWeb a site created in RapidWeaver? Or, at somehow have any new iWeb site I do, and keep the work I did the in RW online.
I don't necessarily need to edit it, but I'd like to keep that RW site intact and available.
Also, Roddy, thanks for this link you put in another thread- I've got a lot to study:

No; iWeb cannot import existing sites. If you have the HTML and other files from RapidWeaver, store them on your hard disk, and then use iWeb to publish to a folder, posting those pages as desired.

  • Downloading Existing iWeb Site?

    Hello All:
I recently bought a new Mac and lost my preferences and settings for the version of iWeb I had on my old Mac.
I have an existing personal website that I developed using iWeb that is hosted on my MobileMe account.
Question: How can I download the code and settings on my existing iWeb-developed site onto my new Mac. My new computer has a copy of iWeb on it. I can't seem to find any information on the iWeb application about doing this.
    Thanks!

Mark ~ If by "code and settings" you mean the site itself, you cannot import a published site back into iWeb. Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. If you still have that file on your old Mac, then you can transfer that to your new Mac.
See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
If you don't have that Domain file on your old Mac, paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:
