Moving favorite loops to another computer

I have checked off my favorite loops on my macbook and I would like to transfer them to my imac. Is there a way to do this or do I just have to manually check them off all over again?

What do you mean by "checked off"?
Transferring loops to another computer is easy: Just locate the Loops folder in the Finder (probably under HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple) and copy them over. At the new location, drop the folder into the Loop Browser, and the loops will be indexed automatically.

  • Hyperlinks stop working when moving QT movie to another computer

    Hi.
When setting objects as hyperlinks to other slides (Next, Previous, Frist slide) and copying the exported QuickTime movie to another computer, all hyperlinks stop working. Clicking a hyperlink will prompt a message on WindowsXP.
The meaning of this is that Keynote presentations with hyperlinks cannot be distributed to other computers via QuickTime. This is very severe.
Because of the special architecture of QuickTime, using the arrow keys to navigate back, forces the user to step-back build-by-build and only a hyperlink can do this in one step.
I've researched discussion groups and websites and found no viable solution. The only solution offered was not to use slide transitions, but this negates the whole advantage over Powerpoint.
can you suggest any solution? I would even consider opening the qt movie with a text editor to find and replace the hyperlinks, but to what?
    thanks
    Gaby

Make sure the windows machine has the absolutely newest version of QT on it. There were bugs in QT for Windows, but the last version corrected this issue.

  • Moving iweb pages from another computer to my laptop

I am a teacher using iweb to compose an online newspaper for our school. I had students work in groups to create their pages: sports page, travel page, etc...
Now I want to compile the separate pages onto my computer in order to publish on our school website, but I can't figure out how to move the pages students created into my iweb program. This is a lot of work on their part, and when I try to copy and paste the information it messes with the formatting and doesn't move pictures. I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

    I am assuming the following.....
    1) this notice is posted in the wrong area of the support pages because you are using a computer with Mac OS 10.5.6. This forum is for pre-iWeb 08 users. I assume you are using iWeb 08.
    2) Your students are using more than one Mac computer to create their web pages
    3) You are using yet another Mac computer to create your compilation page.
The problem is this, iWeb stores all the information on a file it calls "domain" and it is stored on the individual Mac computer. Each *WEB SITE* and *WEB PAGE* within each site is in this *ONE FILE*.
You are going to be able to do what you are hoping to accomplish, but you are going to have to learn a few more things than you want about your Mac and iWeb
The problem is this - iWeb doesn't save the pages as individual document files. I think you were hoping to take the individual files and combine them to make your "master site." On the contrary, iWeb is saving each page as it's own "master site."
It would be easier to just have the students use 1 computer to do their individual work. However, it is probably too late for that.
I had a similar problem when I first started using iWeb to create my school site (http://podcast.derryasd.k12.pa.us/concerts --- notice: there is no "www" in the address)
Here is a suggestion --- it is going to take some time for you because you are going to have to take the students' work and basically redo it by copying and pasting each aspect of the page into your "master page" on your computer.
iWeb will publish each individual website that the students created on their individual Macs to a file
    iWeb>File>Publish to a folder.
Have the students publish to a folder and save it to a disc/flash drive, etc and give it to you. I'm not an expert at this, and my problem was quite a while ago, but I do remember my frustration so I'll try to help here by remembering the way I did it.... which takes me to another assumption. I assume that you don't need to keep the site that you have created on your "master computer". If you want to start from scratch, just delete everything from your iWeb site on your master computer. You will need to create a new site. (iWeb>File>New Site.)
You will then need to create individual pages for each of the student pages. (You can do this one page at a time.) You will have to choose the same templates that your students choose. You will have to take your students' work that they saved to a drive, or CD/DVD and open it and place their window (probably open in Safari) next to your iWeb window. Then you can drag copy or cut and paste as necessary all the info from the students' page into your master page. Save it and then continue the process until you have all the individual pages copied to your master file.
Then you can upload it to your school district's server to publish the site.
I hope this helps. I remember how frustrated I was when I was getting started -- I have no desire to use anything but iWeb now that I understand how it works.

  • Moving iphone/itunes to another computer and then back again

I'm on travel and want to add more podcasts to my 1st generation iPhone which is nearly full. I have a backup at home so I thought I would just reformat and then link to my Macbook Air while on travel overseas. However, iTunes said that I had to have a network connection which is a problem since I have an ethernet connection and the iPhone doesn't like the simple USB hub that I have. I suppose I can figure this out but my question is: when I return home can I restore with a backup on my home computer so I don't have to re-install a bunch of apps?
BTW, it's rather strange that I can't reformat an iPhone without being connected online. This is trivial to do on an iPod.
    Thanks

All media content will be erased when you sync to a different computer. You can transfer your purchases and backup manually before you sync. To do this, disable autosync in itunes, connect the phone and right click on it in the device list. Choose "Backup" and "Transfer purchases"
After your phone got erased, restore from that backup. See what the backup contains here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Music is not part of the backup, but if you bought it in the Store, you where able to transfer it from the phone to the computer when you transferred your purchases.

  • Moving hard drive to another computer?

I currently have an older G5 tower. It appears the power supply has finally given out after years of extensive use. I'm thinking this may be a good time for me to upgrade and purchase a Mac Pro. However, I'm not quite sure how to move the data from my old G5 to the new Mac Pro without replacing the power supply.
Any suggestions on how to avoid this? How troublesome would this be?
    Thanks!

Not to worry. You should have a SATA disk in your old machine.
Just remove it from the old machine, take it to the new machine and add it as an additional drive.
You can use the Migration Assistant to move stuff to your new system drive,
and you can delete the old system from your old drive. Your choice as to
where you put your old (non-user, non-system) data.

  • Moving Windows 7 onto another computer

I recently purchased a ThinkPad Edge 14, and with it came a copy of pre-installed 64bit Windows 7.
Seeing as i use unix based systems for work, i was wondering if i could somehow port the copy of Windows 7 that came on the ThinkPad Edge onto my desktop at home.
    Would this be a possibility?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    i don't think it's possible ( actually it's not legal )
you can use it only on thinkpad.

I bought a new laptop and used Windows Easy Transfer cable and moved all files from one computer to another. I installed iTunes and found my iTunes music Library.  However, when I plug in my iPod it says it is already synced with another iTunes Library.
I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over.  Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over?  I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another.  Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem on a Dell computer.  But now when I want to add songs, I get itunes message of death that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music without erasing everything on my new iphone?

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me.  Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

At this moment, that's correct. The OS X license included with a Mac can only be used with that Mac. However, in the case the OP has purchased OS X Mountain Lion in the past, this may change

When I work with a drive to boot many computers, I use the newest model computer I will be booting, and set the system up on that, run all the Apple updates. Normally I will have no issue booting any older computer with the same drive. Unless of course those older computers do not support the operating system on that drive.
If you want to test if the drive will boot the mac mini. Put your MacBook Pro into target mode. Connect the two computers together. And on the Mac Mini, go into system preferences and then under start up disk and see if the target disk mode computer's drive shows up there. Seelct that drive and restart. See if it boots ok. A bit easier then taking the drives out and moving things around.

  • How do I import bookmarks from a Favorites folder that I've copied from another computer? I'm using Win 7

I copied the "Favorites" folder off off another computer and now have in on a local hard drive. How do I either point Firefox to it or import those bookmarks. I'm using Win 7 and Firefox menu has no "Import" function that I can find.
    Thanks,
    Rich

Firefox can't handle the .url type IE favorites.
You would have to copy the favorites in that folder to the current IE favorites folder and see if you can import the IE favorites in Firefox.
If not then you need to export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import this file in Firefox.
See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

  • Moving to another computer

I moved my printer from one computer to another.  When I installed the drivers, the computer identified the printer as a storage device.  When I try to print, the  8600 isn't listed as an option and I can't figure out how to add it.

You need to transfer your iTunes library from the old computer to the new and the same for photos.
iTunes includes an option to transfer content purchased from the iTunes Music Store only from an iPod or iPhone to iTunes on another computer but this is for iTunes purchased content only - not for any music or video imported into iTunes from another source that is available on an iPod or iPhone.
Your email account setup information already on your iPhone will not change. The email account settings transferred from a computer to the iPhone via the iTunes sync process is in one direction only - from the computer to the iPhone and not in the other direction. You will need to create the email accounts accessed with an email client on your old computer with the chosen email client on the new computer.
The sync process for contact information and calendar events is a true sync process and is bidirectional with the application or applications used for this data on the computer the iPhone is synced with. If you currently use Outlook 2003 or 2007 on a Windows PC for syncing contact information and calendar events and will use the same on the new computer, be sure to enter at least one contact in the address book and one calendar event in the calendar with Outlook on the new computer before syncing.

  • Authorizing another computer moved my movies into music

I authorized an additional computer for my iPOD through iTunes & somehow all of my movies, tv shows, and music videos got moved into the music category on my iPOD. I can see them if I go to Music - Albums - & scroll to the bottom where there are songs associated with no albums. How can I get them to go back into the Movie category? Everything was fine until I authorized another computer through iTunes & iTunes does whatever it does for that. I am unable to view my movies now because my iPod won't even play them now since they are in the Music category.

Forget this topic - my other computer is suddenly authorized again. I'll see how long it lasts this time.

There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's.  Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content.

  • HT203167 Moved iTunes library from one computer to another using external hard drive.  Cannot play many files.  Says they are missing but locates them in an archive file but still won't play them.  Are the files themselves part of the .itl files?

Moved iTunes library from old computer (PC Windows 7) to new (PC Window 8) using external hard drive.  Library listing shows all music but can only play a fraction of it.  On the ones it cannot play it asks to locate, then refers to an archived version (an .itl file), and still cannot play them.  Do I just need to copy the archived .itl over, or is that not where the actual media are (do the actual media files even exist on the new computer?)?  Any advice or information on this would be helpful.

*Also...is there any way I can filter out all the tracks with the ! so I can delete the unplaying copies as they're taking up room in my iTunes? I know how to find duplicates, but then I have to go and delete each one individually...*
