Moving Files Between Unix - OS Commands

Hello All,
We have a Z object which download the output to an Unix directory, the out put file is loo large and when trying to access the Unix file from ABAP code to local harddrive, its erroring out that the maximum time set has passed.
Is there a way to access the UNIX files using the OS level commands as defined in the article posted "ABAP/4 Code Sample: Moving Files Between Unix" in SDN Network. I tried out the FM described, which did not exist on 4.5, 4.7 Ver. So any FM that can help me in performing this task.

(look F1 to open too !)
OPEN DATASET file FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE FILTER 'compress'.

LR5 stopped moving files between folders

Hi everybody,
I've noticed today that my LR5 stopped moving files between folders, I select files I want to move and drag them over to a new location like I always did before with only difference is now nothing happends, no messages with errors, nothing... I tried to google it and couldn't find anything related to my problem.
I'm using Windows 8 x64. I checked the permissions on all the photo folders and everything seems to be correct. I also run LR under admin rights, so there shouldn't be any OS related issues... in addition, it was working just fine till today.
I hope you can at least point me in right direction to dig more info on the problem with my LR5.

Moving files between folders is very slow

Hi, I have an iMac 2011. Processor: 2.7GHz Intel Core i5/ Memory 4GB
OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.1
After I change my OS from Mavericks to Yosemite, moving files between folders is very slow.
For example, if I move one jpg file in Desktop to Pictures folder (or just any other folders like Trash), it takes about 3 seconds.
When I was still using Mavericks, it made that Ding sound and transferred files right away. However, now, although it makes the Ding sound right away, the file is still there for 3 seconds.
I tried to clean up my mac using many apps, but they never fixed this problem.
I've also tried what I saw on this one thread. OS X File Transfers Very Slow
Go->Connect to Server then type "cifs://server-address" but it says there is a problem and did nothing. (maybe different issue)
Please help!

There may be other issues, but you installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked.

Moving files between storages

I move file between storages using mv command. After completed the new file was created but the space does not freed.
This not happen before. Can anybody help me.

usually the case where the file you are movng is open by another process, and cant complete the move. When the process that has the file open dies, or when you reboot, the operation should complete.
run a 'fuser' on the file you moved, and see whats got it open.

Error when moving files between Sharepoint sites using 'content and structure' feature

Hi,
I am using Sharepoint Online 2013 on a mac computer.
I am trying to move files between sharepoint sites/libraries but because the "open with explorer" link does not work on mac computers, I need to do so using the 'content and structure' feature.
When I select a file to move and then select the destination site/doc library, i get the following error:
An error was encountered performing this operation.
Operation to Move '120207_Australia Post_Invoice.pdf' to '/Ops/internal/admin/General Admin' failed
No items were moved. Please remove 120207_Australia Post_Invoice.pdf from the selection and retry operation

Hi Kate,
If you mean only one file "120207_Australia Post_Invoice.pdf" could not be moved, please compare this file to the other files moved successfully, check if there are some differences, like the content types, fields.
Also compare the source library and destination library, make sure they have the the same type of fields.
And you could have a try of moving this single file separately see if it could help, or as a workaround to download this file from source and upload to the destination library.
Since it is related to SharePoint Online 2013, we cannot see the ULS log for more information, I would suggest you post this issue in Office365 SharePoint online dedicated forum via the following link for a better assistance.

Moving files between computers

Hello, friends, can anyone plz advice me how best to move a file from one Mac to another? I thinkin there must be some kind of cable I could purchase for this. I want to move a one hour IMovie 6 movie to a larger Mac to burn on IDVD. After 20 continous hours of attempting to burn it on my smaller Mac, I gave up the ship and force quit IDVD. The small Mac Book 2.1 say I have 14 gb available in IMovie for this job whereas the larger, newer Mac has 115 gb! This must be the best way to go!?

It's actually very easy, all you need is a single FireWire cable. Here are the instructions right from the Mac's Help menu:
Transferring files between two computers using FireWire
You can use FireWire to connect your computer to another Mac and have one of the computers appear as an external hard disk on the other computer. This is sometimes called Target Disk Mode.
To transfer files using FireWire:
Shut down the first computer and leave the second computer on.
Connect the two computers using a 6-pin to 6-pin FireWire cable. (If both computers have higher-speed FireWire 800 ports in addition to the standard FireWire 400 ports, you can use a 9-pin to 9-pin cable with the FireWire 800 ports to transfer data at higher speeds.)
Open System Preferences, click the Startup Disk, and click Target Disk Mode. (Or, start up the first computer while holding down the T key.) A disk icon for the first computer appears on the desktop on the second computer. Drag files to and from the disk to transfer them.
When you finish, eject the first computer's disk by dragging its icon to the Trash. (While you drag, the Trash icon changes to an Eject icon.)
Push the power button on the first computer to shut it down and disconnect the FireWire cable.
If the computer to which you connect your computer is running Mac OS 9, it must have FireWire version 2.3.3 or later installed. Use Apple System Profiler (located in /Applications/Utilities) to check the version of FireWire installed. If it has an older version, get an update at the Apple FireWire website at www.apple.com/firewire.

Moving files between iphone and pc

haw can i move files between iphone and pc, and haw can i explore file and folders tree in iphone ?
do i need to install a third party software ? which one ?

You can't browse the iPhone's filesystem and directly move file to/from the phone. There obviously is some software anywhere out there capable of doing this.
However, these are Apple's forums, and as breaking the phone and using third party software is at this point of time not allowed, you should not ask here about this software.

Os x 10.9 - Moving files between folders with Mavericks.

How do i drag and drop files between folders without creating a duplicate? Prior to the Maverick upgrade I could drag and drop without creating a duplicate. Earlier forums suggested Cmd-Opt-V would prevent duplicates, but this now creates an alias file.

By default the Job Accounting plugin is installed by the Kyocera installer. So you don't need to enable it, you just need to select the Job Accounting menu in the print dialog. To see this menu, in many Apple applications you must have the print dialog set to Show Details. Then you can change the menu to Job Accounting as shown below.

I have a socket program, on the client's side all they do is knock on the server side, when the server accepts ..... I need to be able to move a file I have found to a certain directory.
I've try to use RunTime() with process, even with Unix commands

have you looked at java.io.File.renameTo() ?
This will move a file from one location to another.
But it actually looks as if you want to copy the file, rather than move it. If so, you will have to open an InputStream on the source file, and an OutputStream on the destination file, then copy all the bytes from the InputStream to the OutputStream. There is no copy method on java.io.File, and I can only presume that this is becuase it is very easy to implement a copy command.

Moved files between project, lost thumbnails, cannot see images anymore

Hi,
I moved 1902 images from one Project to another, but that didn't work very successful.
I have now all the 1902 still in the original Prject but I see no thumbnails and selecting it says that it cannot show the image (red background).
I can neither see them in the new project, well some ~5% I can see, but the rest are just grey icons. If I try to edit one, it shows nothing.
Is there a way to sort of "check" the library and rebuild the thumbnails?

I am running 1.1.2 but have not yet upgraded to 10.4.7
I cannot export those pictures, because they now completly disappeared after I started Aperture with cmd/opt.
When I looked into the aperture library the missing pictures had the CR2 file missing in the folder. So I doubt I would have been able to actually export the original file.

Moving files between computers; GB can't open it

Last night I was working on editing a couple of tracks and using the trackpad on the TiBook was becoming a pain, so I went back to hubby's computer and he created the tracks for me quickly. Then he tried to email the file, but GB won't open it. It came through named "data file" which might be something to do with Entourage.
I went back to his computer this morning and sent it again using yousendit.com, and it comes through as a .band file, but it still won't open. Then I tried the "Save as Archive" option, just in case, and tried sending it again. It looks right, but it still won't open. All it says is "can't open file" and the location and name. If you double click on the file itself, GB opens and pops up the dialog box asking if you want to open a song or create a new one.
It's only two tracks, both software instruments, and only about 8 bars long, so it's not too big to be mailed. Info does show it as a GarageBand Project. We have the same version of GB (1.1.0) on both computers. The file I'm sending to myself is the file in the User/Name/Music/GarageBand folder.
I am seeing now that when I retrieve the file it's size is 4KB. On the other computer it's 340KB. Are there other files that need to be transferred for it to work? We can pass files back and forth to work on them, right?
I know this probably has a simple answer, but I can't find it by searching the forums (GB 1 & 2), FAQs, Support Pages, GB Help, or even (and I'm shocked! All my answers are usually there!) HangTime's site. What is my pilot error?

why did it work?
Sadly I'm not as well versed in some of the deeper intricacies of OS X as I was about older versions. It was my understanding that OS X had moved away from "Resource Forks" (don't worry about the definition, it's a little complicated, but the important thing is that moving Mac Files without encoding them first could strip the resource fork of a file and render it useless)
I wouldn't expect this to be the issue with a modern app from Apple, but it could be something similar. Packing it just makes sure that all the parts are transmitted.

[SOLVED] xfce4 / Thunar problems moving files between folders

In XFCE4 I open THUNAR file manager, I am browsing DOCUMENTS. If I move one file from DOCUMENTS, to ../PICTURES (by dragging it),
it will move it. However, when I now browse PICTURES, I don't see the file I moved. Unless I click the REFRESH Icon in Thunar.
This started happening with very recent updates.
[UPDATE:] Solved after upgrading thunar (1.6.6-2 -> 1.6.7-1)

You should report this at the upstream bug tracker. The Xfce developers are likely not reading this forum.
I could reproduce this bug with these steps:
1. Open two Thunar windows (Documents and Pictures folder)
2. Move a file from one folder to the other by using drag'n'drop
The result is that the file is moved but it is still shown in Thunar until a manual refresh.
EDIT: This is already fixed by this commit so Thunar 1.6.7 should work fine.

Moving files between iMac and Macbook Pro results in permissions error

This is probably a very simple issue but I can not for the life of me figure out how to fix it.
I've moved a folder of raw .nef photos to my public folder on my iMac from my Macbook Pro via file sharing. Upon attempting to open the files on my iMac in finder or Adobe Bridge CS5 I get "You do not have permission to open the document..." "Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance".

You'll have to give yourself permission to the files. Do a +Get Info+ via the Finder, click the padlock at the lower right, and enter your Admin password.
Then click the plus sign at the bottom, and select your user account. That will give you Read rights. Click the arrows in front of +Read Only+ and select +Read & Write.+
If they're all in a folder, do this on the folder, then click the "gear" icon and select +Apply to enclosed items.+ That may take a while if there are a lot of files.

Moving Files between 2 different Catalogs

Is it possible to move a file from one catalog to a separate catalog in LR3? If so, please share how this is done

If you want to leave the image file location where it is now, you can achieve it by doing the following:
Select the photo(s) to be moved in Grid Mode
Chose Export as Catalog
Chose a location for the exported catalog and uncheck "Export negative files"
Perform the export
Remove the selected images from the original catalog
By doing so, you have created a new catalog with just the images selected in the process. If you want to incorporate those into another, already existing catalog, you can do so by importing the newly created catalog with the function "Import from catalog".
If you also want to export (= duplicate) the original images with the new catalog, check "Export negative files" in the process of exporting.
Whether you chose "Include available previews" in the process is not so relevant. By doing so, the newly built catalog will already be supported by built previews from the beginning, of not, the first launch of the new catalog will initiate a build of the previews.

Moving files between users using Root?

I won't have access to my Mbp for quite some time otherwise id test this out, and my time capsule took a ** on me so I figured I'd ask here. I wasn't able to find anything relevant online but then again I'm not too familiar with this process.
What I hope to accomplish is to use Root to copy/move iTunes media files from one admin account to another. Is this feasible?

I presume from what you write that this is referring to two accounts on the same Mac? Instead of activating Root (if that is what you intend), why not simply copy the iTunes folder using the Drop Box (in Users>Username>Public). Are you moving/copying them all? More information might bring forth some more accurate advice.
