Moving Files from Movies Folder

I have a lot of home videos on itunes that I categorize as "tv shows" so it's easier for me to find what I'm looking for. To do that I have to add them to the "movies" category then later change the file info for "tv show".
However, when I do that the files remain unorganized on the iTunes movies folder on my computer (/iTunes/Music/Movies).
Is there anything I can do so files will be moved to a tv show folder when the info is changed just like happens with my songs?

Perhaps you're changing the genre to "TV Shows," but the choice on the Video Kind tab remains "Movies"? It's the Video Kind dropdown menu that matters. Vidoes you pull down to say "TV Shows" will appear in the TV Shows library.

All I did was move a copy a collection of files from one folder to another folder. It made the "move" sound, and the files have been copied, but something clearly went wrong

Have java.io.File objects pointing to the three folders. Get the list of all the files in the folder. Start a loop and check if the filename ends with Data.dat. If it is so then copy file to the final folder.
To Copy file you can use any of the two approaches.
1. You can read that file as byte stream (java.io.FileInputStream) and write it to the other folder as bytes (java.io.FileOutputStream).
2. You can use shell commands to do this. (java.lang.Runtime.exe() method)

Reading only certain files from Movies folder?

Hello all,
I have an external hard drive connected to my Time Capsule that is loaded with a bunch of VIDEO_TS folders of all my DVDs, and I have that drive aliased in my "Movies" folder on my MacBook Pro, so when I open Front Row, it points to my external HDD, and everything is hunky-dory. But I also have other files in this HDD (a bunch of JPG files) that are also being seen by Front Row. For reasons that are too boring to get into, I don't want to separate the files into different locations, I would like to keep them together. But my goal is to be able to somehow block Front Row from seeing these JPG files and just display the list of my DVDs instead. Is there any way to tell my alias to block out the JPGs, or some way to hide the JPGs from that particular alias, or something along those lines?

The only way I can immediately think of is the way I have arranged it, whereby I don't use an alias of the external HD, but aliases of each individual TS folder.
That certainly avoids showing non-video files in the Movies folder.

Get a list of copied/moved files from a folder

Hi everyone
A friend of mine works in an office, and they're thinking that somebody is copying files from their Macs to flash drives or something to give the data to another company. He asked me a way to make a log of which folders/files are copied (just filename, where they copy it and time of copy). I've revised the system logs and I haven't found the way. Maybe with a folder action or something?
Of course, this is not for bad use. It's all about a company security.

Moving files from one folder to another using workflows

Hi everyone,
I need help creating a workflow. Within my Shared Documents Library, there is a folder, within which there are other sub-folders.
Shared Documents--> Resumes --> Approved
Shared Documents--> Resumes --> Rejected
I want to create a workflow so that the resumes are uploaded to the Resumes folder and based on whether the user approves or rejects them, they are moved into either the Approved or Rejected folders. Any help would be highly appreciated

Why to make it more complex when we already have facility to group them by status option? Create a view and select group by “status” or create a separate web part page and add Shared Document library web part 2 times on the same page. For the first web part
select filter option which only displays files with “Approved” status and for the other web part select it for “Rejected”

Removed some files from library folder

moved files from library folder and attempted to put them back after experiencing major changes and problem. This is not correcting the situation what can be done to restore it back to what it was before I started?

Update, I did a verify permissions with disk utility and some stuff is where it should be now, (recovered iphoto yeah) but still a problem with other things as before.
So to answer your questions,
What is the exact path to this folder? And please post the contents of the folder.
I get to her old itunes by the following path;
home>music>itunes>itunes music - this folder contains folder icons of all her old itunes library, each artist has a folder, such as amy cook>list of albums>list of songs - if selected will than open itunes and will import to new itunes library.
I don't quite understand the heirarchy you are describing. Please post the contents of her Home folder.
Her home folder contains
Desktop
Documents
Library
Movies
Music
Pictures
plus 9 folders she had created over the past four years these are intact and accessible to proper application programs (ie documents open in appleworks, pictures are from the pictures library not iphoto, 3rd party software such as genealogy programs are intact and up to date)

As for this folder some things were moved back to proper places with the above mentioned verify permissions, some like, mailbox items, I was able to import to current settings to restore to how it use to be. From what I gather she created this file when things were going wrong and she feared messing the whole thing up. I access this by the following path;
home>library>(then the folder she created) Library do not touch.
When I compare the main library file to my account main library file they do not contain the same items in fact many of the missing items seem to be in this folder that she created. I assume the ones I need are in this file she created but I am really hesitant to just start moving things around out of fear of creating more problems on her side or messing up my side.
If you have sufficient available disk space, you shouldn't have any problem, but you need a reliable backup, just in case.
In regards to archive/install - sufficient available disk space meaning as much or more than what I am currently using? How do I check this to be sure?
Which brings me to a whole new question if you have time?
We do have an external back up system, which we used before a semi-recent move, (I plan on finding the box it is packed in believe me), however we attempted to use imacs backup program to do a quicker backup, were able to back up her side onto disks, but when I attempted to do the same on my side I received an failure error screen something about a drained buffer and being unable to perform a backup. Please tell me I have not fried my dvd drive!!!

How to move all files from a folder for a user to a centralized folder on a core server

I'm curious if there is a batch file that can be made to move the contents that are setup like this....
I'm having to redo a TS cluster and I'd like to make a batch file script that can be executed that moves the contents of say 'jsmith's local desktop profile @ \\NGTTS1\users\jsmith to a centralized folder on our roaming desktop profile server that saves
all of the files for the desktops @ \\NGTFS1\users\jsmith.
The problem I have is no matter what I tell users to save there files to our Y drive that is a folder that is synced across all 6 of our TS servers, users still store files on there desktops, so as you can imagine if one day they are on one server, then
next day they could be on another and there files aren't the same.... hence the reason why I want to move all there files to the centralized server so when I redo the profiles from scratch on the TS server in the farm they suck files from the core server and
have all of the files they are used to having....
Now I know I can do this with a MOVE command I've just never done one to this exact.
Hopefully someone knows the command to move all the contents of one folder on one server to the folder on a different server. I've already got the bulk of the coding done of the .bat script I just don't know this move command:
would it be this:

any help would be appreciated, I'm sure this is a easy command to do!

In Windows we would do this using Group Policy. There is a Policy setting that csn move the Desktop folder to any server you want to move it to. Once set it will automatically do this for you.
You should post in the Group Policy forum to find out how we use Group Policy to manage users profiles in Windows.
You cannot use a script to relocate a users Desktop folder. The desktop is locked by the time the users logon script is finished running. It the desktop and profile are already being managed by Group Policy then this can only be done with GP.
There are also numerous issues associated with deployment and re-deployment that you need to address Post your questions in the Winows Deployment forum to get assistance with deployment issues.
Again - want you are asking is not generally possible because of how Windows is designed. This would only likely work on a simple system or on a stand alone PC and then only under a very limited set of circumstances.
Use GP folder redirection to do this. For deployment use Deployment Forum and for TS specific issues post in the RDS forum.
All of this needs to be considered correctly for TS users inn a TS Cluster environment. (TS Cluster?? - not sure what you mean by that.

Issue in moving files from data fodler to processed folder in background

Hi All,
I am facing one issue in moving files from data fodler to processed folder in case of background execution.
When i am executing the file in the foreground, i can move the file from Data folder to processed folder. I am using SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE FM to move the file from data folder to processed folder. I can see the file in processed folder once the program is executed.
But in case of executing the same program in background, it is giving me the error "Failed to move the file to processed folder" in the spool of SM37 and i can see the file still laying in data folder.
I tried to check other programs which acesses the same folder as the above program, whether they are able to move. They are able to move the file to processed fodler successfully both in foreground and background mode.
Please help me in resolving this issue.

This is a code showing how to create and use COPY command of UNIX in ABAP
PARAMETERS:

Move files from one folder to another javascript?

I am running a 3-action droplet automatically using windows task scheduler. Here are the 3 steps:
1.    Batch file to move files from hot folder to processing folder
2.    Run IPP (dr brown's image processor pro) using preloaded settings to make several sizes copies of the files.
3.    Bat file to move the files from processing folder to archive folder.
The problem I am observing is that Step 1 works and IPP begins to run. It only processes the first few images, and then moves on to the 3rd step where the bat file is ran to move all files from processing folder to archive folder.   The trouble is, only a few images were processes (about 10 or so), yet all of the images get moved to the archive without being processed. Is there a way to make sure that step 2 (IPP) doesn’t begin until all files have successfully been moved from the hot folder to the processing folder? IPP starts right away and files are still being transferred to the processing folder.
Does anyone have a script that will move files from one folder to another?

It may be a simple statement like app.close(); I don't know javascript and only hack Photoshop script mostly by looking at others code. app.close(); is a guess on my part. Let me try it. Thankyou Winston, you guess right. What i don't understand is why with the older version of mac os (10.9) i can organize my document into icloud folders using the Pages app window. But now with the new version i'm no longer able to do that. Using ipad in the same window there is no problem, but in mac os it doesn't work.

I would like to move pics from one folder to another. I can drag files from one folder to another, but they still reside in the original folder as well. Is there a way to cut and paste or a similar function to accomplish this move?

Hey, HawaiianHaole, as a multidecade Mac user, let me tell you, Aperture is about the worst example of Mac-iness one could imagine. Ironic, as it's (of course) made by Apple. But all is not lost. Aperture has gotten considerably better of late (versions up to 2.0 were fundamentally unusable in many ways) and will hopefully continue to improve. (ie Maybe they'll fix the printing thing...)
Please don't make Aperture the basis for your judgement of the Mac OS. Many long time Mac users are having as much trouble with Aperture as you. Mac OSX has significantly reduced customizability but at the benefit of much improved stability and indeed usability. Old school Mac users had to learn to accept this, which most did. You'll hear people talk about the "Way of the Steve". As irksome as Aperture can be, you'll actually have a better time of it if you adopt the Way of the Steve, and accept that you can't do things the way you might want to. This is imho antithetical to the original Mac many of us knew and loved, but it's the way things are today, so we mostly shut up and take it. You can fight with your software all day, or just accept that there are ways you have to adopt and adapt to them.

I suddenly can't move files from one folder to another in my FlashHelp project.

I have RH8 (8.02). I have been working on this project for a couple of years now.
What changed? I had imported a Word document and then removed the document and the folder it created from the Project Manager. Now I cannot move any of my files from one folder to another in the Project Manager pod. I susptected a corrupt CPD file so I closed the project, deleted the CPD file. Next I opened Robo from Programes (I never open from the .xpj file), went to Tools>Options and deleted the pinned most recently used project. Select Open, and locate/open the xpj file. I've also re-generated the output (no errors) and completed all these steps again. Of course Robo only goes haywire on me right before I have to publish for our new software release.

From what I'm seeing my own guess here is that RoboHelp is still believing that the content belongs to word.
I might suggest the following steps.
Open Winows Explorer and make copies of the HTML files involved. Then from RoboHelp, delete or remove the content. Then use the Import function to add the desired HTML files back into the project into the desired folder.
My thought is that by taking these steps you will have effectively disassociated Word and the topics should now be independent topics that RoboHelp should allow you to manage as you wish.
