Moving files in Bridge CS2 help
Alright , so after hours of working on some PSD files and noticing I was running low on available space. I decided to move some files to another external hard drive while in Bridge 1.0.4.6 which is something I rarely do. Everything seemed to run smooth(no error messages), but noticed that some of the files were missing.....where'd they go?
I ran every kind of search possible. I'm running a G5 OSX 10.4.11
Any advice?
This should probably be posted in Bridge forum for quicker help.
The RAW thumb with a small circle represent a modified RAW image.
It appears you make your modifications in ACR and then click on "save image". Just a guess on my part - but it seems like the image is still tied to the RAW image even though you gave it a jpeg file extension.
If you want a complete separate image you can click done and then open it in PS and then click "save as" in jpeg format and then it will be a separate image. Probably could set up an action for this.
Don't do much with ACR so there may be different ways to do this.

I recently upgraded from CS2 to CS6. Foolishly I deleted CS2 Bridge before transferring my images into a safe folder.
Are they hiding in a folder somewhere?
I feel so dumb!
Many thanks! As Yammer P and Curt already stated that if you drag files in Bridge they move to the folder you have Bridge pointed at. If you did only uninstall Bridge (instead of deleting it which is usually a bad idea for most applications, always try an uninstall if possible) then there must be a folder on your system containing those files.
It might not be restricted to your user account, if you had bridge pointed to another location on your system then the files will be there.
You can try Spotlight for a first go using only the extension or if you no a file name try that.
But you also might to try the freeware application Easy Find that is capable of doing a far better job in finding. As source select your computer instead of user account because then your whole system will be part of this file, including package content. But Bridge does not use a package content like iPhoto and Aperture do.
Here is link for Easy Find:
http://www.devontechnologies.com/products/freeware.html
But another question, your search means you don't have a back up of your important files?
A Mac can act as a very safe machine but in general it is not a question if a hard disk fails but rather when. And while computers are acting also pretty straight forward, us people don't. So always have a proper back up system to avoid losing your important files.
Might not help you now but most of us have also learned this the hard way... -
After I process files in ACR and then save them in a folder as jpg I go back to Bridge and when I move the selected RAW files to another folder the jpgs move to the new folder with the RAW files. Even though the jpgs I created are not selected they move to the same folder. The thumbnails in Bridge have a small circle in the upper right hand corner with two tiny arrows pointing up. I do not know what these circles represent or if they have anything to do with my problem. I would like to be able to move the selected RAW files to another folder without having the jpgs moved to this file. Again, the jpgs are not selected and the RAW files are selelcted. Thanks

Problems opening NEF files in Bridge, CS2
We recently wiped our hard drive to get rid of a virus and reinstalled Photoshop CS2. Now I cant open RAW files from my NIKON D50 in bridge or photoshop. I've downloaded all the Raw updates for CS2 but it hasnt made a difference.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.neevie wrote:

What did you do with "all the raw updates"?
You only need one and it must be in the correct folder (which is not where you might think!)
More than one copy will almost certainly mess things up. -
Closing stacked files in Bridge - Urgent help please.
I have sorted loads of photos into different stacks in bridge in one folder. If I close this folder and reopen will they be stacked correctly? If I save this folder to an external drive and reopen it, will it be stacked correctly? Mac user.
In all the time you have wasted here, you could have already made two or three tests to satisfy your curiosity.

Moving files in Terminal; Need help with paths.
A user on my computer with admin access moved "Fonts" folder from /System/Library on my hard drive (not under user) to the Desktop. Now I get the blue screen upon startup. Safe mode won't work. I've searched the forum and apple support for solutions to the blue screen, but they haven't worked. I'm thinking if I can just move that file back with Terminal, everything will be fine.
So, starting with: mv ~/folder1 ~/folder2
Would someone be so kind as to help a poor fool figure out the appropriate paths of a folder sitting on my desktop as well as the System/Library folder on my hard drive (not the Library under my username)? I've tried searching but am so frustrated I'm hoping someone will be able to help me straight-up.
Thanks a ton!
PowerMac G5 Dual Mac OS X (10.4.8)Thanks so much for your help Niel! Sorry, couldn't get to another computer to reply. Quick question regarding the suggestion: Does that move the "Fonts" folder from my desktop into a Fonts folder that doesn't exist yet? So would the final result be: System/Library/Fonts/Fonts? Or does that overwrite? What about: mv /Users/username/Desktop/Fonts/ /System/Library/
in order to move the Fonts folder back into the Library folder?
Hope that makes sense. Thanks -

Moving files between different devices, help needed.
Hi people, i need some help working this out. I am about to buy a Tablet, it will be my first tablet.
In a few days the iPad 3 comes out and that would be nice, But...I have 2 old PPC macs, both Running on 10.5.8 and an android Phone. I'm guessing that because the iPad doesn't have a micro SD card slot or a proper usb port, getting files from it to all of my other kit is going to be a big pain. I understand that Apple has finally made iOS5 which i'm told is non computer reliant, so in theory, i can buy an iPad, take it home, turn it on, set it up and use it, without having to connect it to a computer with iTunes on it.
I am aware that iPad will come with iCloud, but i'm guessing Apple won't allow any of my kit listed above, to access that except maybe a windows computer. I could use bluetooth?
Is it possible to access files i would store in iCloud from any device, anywhere in the world just by logging in over the internet browser? Or am i going to have to not use iCloud and instead use Google Docs, Dropbox, or some other combination of online storage to move file around, or get a completely diferent tablet.
I'm also concidering an Asus Transformer Prime Tablet plus docking keyboard as that does have a full sized usb port and a micro SD card slot and a full sized SD card slot as well, plus an extra battery.Yes sorry, i missed a bit out. I would use iCloud from the iPad itself, to backup the iPad so that when it crashes i can restore it, but would have to keep a copy of any files in Dropbox, that i might need to share inter platform. As i tend to keep multi backups anyway coz over the years i've had 2 Hard disk failures and 1 memory stick failure. That approach is not too much hasel. Not as elegant as just using one on line storage area but Hey, Big companies are never going to make their stuff work properly with everyone elses, that would be way too idealic. It was hard enough to get them to use standard file formats.
Thanks again. -
Bridge CS2 - files over a network
I have been using Bridge CS2 for a while now. It is mainly used for the preview and management of RAW files. Until recently, the files have been located on the local drive (C:) and there has been no issue. However, I have recently, for security reasons, moved all of the files onto a Linux file server. Ever since then, it has been painfully slow using Bridge, infact it crashes infrequently.
I know that the solution may seem obvious - the file transmission is being slowed by the network/server. However the network runs a gigabit LAN with a gigabit switch between the two machines. The physical location of the server is less than two meters from the workstation, and I can confirm that the LAN is infact running at 1000 (monitoring via task manager of file transfer in Explorer between two machines). Regardless, even at 100bit LAN, Bridge should still be running smoothly.
I copy the RAW files (about 12meg each pic) onto the server, and then open Bridge and it takes about 10mins to load up about 100 files.
I have tried clearing the cache, and running the cache on both the local and network machine, and all of the this suggested by Adobe http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=317912.
As far as I can tell, Bridge is taking a long time to build the thumbnails. I have even tried turning off anti-virus and firewall, but there is no difference. Every other network activity takes little/no time and I need this to work smoothly. Surely I don't have to restrict to local files!
Please help me! Do I need to change any settings? Is it normal for Bridge to take so long over a network?I realise that operating over a network is never faster than a local drive, however using a gigabit LAN and dedicated file server should be the closest thing to running a local drive, if not as fast as a USB2.0 drive (which runs at 480Mbps).
I have however been able to solve the problem. I am not sure if this is an actual "fix" but I did a few things:
1) I unmounted the network drive and remounted it using SUBST (ie "SUBST X: C:\directory\path")
2) I cleared the cache for both Bridge and the Camera Raw ("C:\Documents and Settings\ [user] \Application Data\Adobe\Bridge" & "C:\Documents and Settings\ [user] \Application Data\Adobe\Camera Raw"); then
3) I rebooted all machines (including the sever with "sudo shutdown -Fh now"); and finally
4) After reopening Bridge the first time I closed it down again and cleared the cache again.
Now it works perfectly - infact it is very close to the speed it was working with the local drive. The cache build very fast and there is no more hanging or crashes, and I am back to the old Bridge!! -
Problems reading .xmp sidecar files after moving .nefs in bridge CS6
Problem with CS6 beta. Whenever I move a set of edited (using LR4 with metadata saved to folder) .nef files in bridge to new folder, the .xmp files are not recognised in bridge. They are thre if you look in Windows explorer. If I then find the files in LR4 and resave the adjustments, then becomes visible again. Consistent error on each attempt in different folders. Move was via Ctrl A + dragging in bridge. .nefs were form a Nikon D3.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEHi Trevor, thanks for replying. Yes, as I said moving files directly in bridge. The standard functionality (since I have been using bridge back in CS2) was to move the .xmp files along with the .nef files (although you only see the .nef files directly in bridge). When I say not reading .xmp files I mean that none of the adjustments are visible in the target bridge folder, equally the icons you would normally see on the top RHS showing adjustments have been made are no longer visibile (remember that I have cheked using windows explorer that the .xmp files did succesfully migrate to the target folder). Having been using CS5 bridge on the same machine for several years and have never had this lack of functinonality, therefore I am reporting it as a potential bug in CS6 beta bridge.
I should also confirm that before they were moved, no problems at all in opening the .nef files in camea raw 7.0 and all edits honoured. -
CS2 Help Files Problem - Different than those Previously listed
I installed PSCS2 and the installation appeared to go OK and for the most part the program runs as I would expect.
The issue I have is with the help files. When I try to access the help files the Adobe Help Center opens but the only help available is for PS Elements 4. I did NOT remove PSE4 prior to installing PSCS2 and it is still on my machine.
This is a Dell Dimension XPS, running Win XP Pro, 2.8 G Pentium 4 processor, 1G DDR RAM.
Thanks in advance,
Ken KovakThanks to everyone that posted suggestions on how to fix this. I think that deleting the folders/files can't hurt, but I'm not sure it's really necessary.
The problem for many of us is that the CS2 help package is simply gone. I tried everything suggested in all the other threads - including completely removing and reinstalling several applications - and nothing worked until I simply downloaded the help package from Adobe, placed it in the packages folder, and ran help.
AHC.exe is obviously smart enough to check that folder before opening so if it finds a new package it will apparently rebuild the database and "install" it.
The worst thing in my mind is that Adobe hasn't addressed this problem even though it's a known issue and should have been fixed in the 9.01 update release. How lame is that? It's extremely lame to answer my own question Yes, I'm "teaked" that I've wasted so much time on something Adobe should have fixed but is too lazy to address. Kind of like the Bridge problem...... I grow more disenchanted with Adobe all the time...
Anyone that installed Elements 4.0 (for it's superior management and viewing capabilities) may face this problem.
Again, thanks to all the helpful users and an extremely rotten tomato to Adobe..... -
Bridge CS5 closes when moving files
Bridge CS5 abruptly closes when moving files. It does not matter if I drag and drop or if I cut/copy and paste to different folders -- I get the same behavior either way. When I try to move files, I get a Windows dialogue box saying the program has experienced a problem and will close. After Brdige closes and I open it again, the files have been moved. Still, it is a pain to have the program crash everytime I move a file.
I have a new computer with great specs and lots of memory (see below). I did not have this problem before and only began to experience it recently. The only changes since then are that I downloaded a trial version of Adobe Dreamweaver. I found another instance of this problem in the forums and followed the advice of disabling all scripts, but it did not help. What can I do to move files in Bridge?
Computer: Studio XPS 9100
Processor: Intel Core i7-920 processor(8MB L2 Cache, 2.66GHz)
RAM: 12GB DDR3 SDRAM,1333MHZ, 6x2GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD5670 1GB GDDR5
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, EnglishI have a computer setup very similar to yours, in fact you have one notch higher ram and video card. It should work. I do use drag and drop sometimes, but almost always use right click and "copy to". It will list the last 10 places you have visited so it is easy to click on the folder (or visit it first). More of a hassle if you have to browse.
I had to add "copy to and move to" to the right click function in Vista and Win7. Check on-line and there is an automatic program that inserts it into the registry. It confident instructions are given to do it manually.
Have no idea why it will not work. Can you drag and drop in Win Exp?
Hope this helps. -
How do I delete movies from iTunes library? I have moved them to the iCloud and now only seem to have the option to hide the icon in iCloud. I am sure I chose poorly at the 'keep file' window. Please help. My Brain hurts… 18 plus movies need to go…. Thank you.
Instead of removing the music from the cloud or the iTunes library why not shuffle your music using a Smart Playlist which excludes the holiday music, or tracks that are not checked. For example, use this very simple Smart Playlist:

I recently had a kernel panic in which I think my hard drive only had so much space left after I ran a bunch of drivers I thought I needed. I uninstalled all and moved files. For some odd reason I'm not getting sound of of my hdtv/monitor.HELP? I uninstalled all the drives and apps I download. I moived files either to trash if not needed, and others to other external drives. I went into disk utility and did a repair disk permission and verify disk. Clean out junk files. Now my hdtv/monitor does not give me any sound, nor does my mac mini. Can someone please tell me what to do?
What drivers?

Can anyone help me as to why my raw files in bridge are not showing as thumbnails as they normally do . I can seem to fix it
BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
A screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too,
etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).
Please read this FAQ for advice on how to ask your questions correctly for quicker and better answers:
