Moving Final Cut from one macbook to another

MacBook A is currently running Final Cut Express. I want to use the software on MacBook B. What steps do I need to take? Can I simply load Final Cut on MacBook B? Do I need to uninstall the software on Macbook A? Both are running Leopard.

Following the suggestions that have been made, I have tried holding down the option key while starting iTunes and then choosing the iTunes Music folder on the external hard drive. However, this produces the response "An iTunes library file could not be found in the folder "iTunes Music". Please choose a different folder".
A comparison of the iTunes folder on the original MacBook with that on the hard drive indicates that there are several files in the iTunes folder on the MacBook that are not present on the external hard drive, including "iTunes Library", "iTunes Library Extras" and "iTunes Music Library.xml". There is also a subfolder called "Album Artwork".
It appears that the copy of iTunes on the original MacBook was using these files on its own internal hard drive together with the music files on the external hard drive, and the new MacBook is now looking for these files and can't find them. Can this be solved by copying some or all of the "iTunes Library", "iTunes Library Extras", "iTunes Music Library.xml" files and the "Album Artwork" folder to the external hard drive and then pointing iTunes to the external hard drive in the manner suggested by the replies above? If so, which of these should be copied? If not, is there another way to rebuild the iTunes library files on the hard drive without copying them over?

I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over. Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over? I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another. Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Are you trying to transfer the content or just the user? Transferring the user is pretty easy, transferring the content is a littel more involved. To transfer the user alone, just sign into iTunes on the new computer with your same user name. Easy as that. To transfer the content, follow these instructions:

How do I transfer some photos from an external harddrive (with backup data from one macbook) to another macbook? Ideally, I'd also like to transfer albums as well that photos are linked to. I need to do this because my macbook is broken and I need to work on photos for the holidays. Thank you very much Terence for your input. I successfully transferred the library and attempted to open it on my "new" mac. However, unfortunately, I discovered the OS and iphoto have not been updated for some time so it couldn't open..argh.
My photos were in a 9.4.3 version of iPhoto, so it looks like to get that on this new computer I have to upgrade to snow leopard and then to Lion (not wanting to go all the way up in OS necessarily if it will slow my computer down more). However, is there a way to open a version 9.4.3 library on an iPhoto app from snow leopard?

Do some testing to get your method working right with some less than important footage.
Copy/paste files where you want then.
Use the FCE Reconnect feature to tell FCE where the newly copied files reside.
Make sure the new location and files are working as expected with your Projects.
Delete the original files if no longer required.

Is there is any way of moving multiple queries from one category to another in the query manager?
Or is the only way of doing it by saving each one individually into a different category.

Hi Rakesh,
The query manager has limited function compare with normal file management applications. Under current design, you have to do this one by one. You just need to make sure move the smaller amount of queries to large category. Category name can be changed easily.

Moving CMS database from one server to another

Using the following:
Crystal Enterprise 10, installed on W2K3 Server R2 (not making any changes to this server);
CMS database, installed on W2K Server, SQL Server 2000, SP3
New database server: W2K3 Server R2, SQL Server 2005, SP2
I found what I think are the steps to moving the database from one place to another in the CE10 Administrator's guide (pages 291-300, but I want to make sure there aren't any "gotchas" when moving the database location and/or upgrading the database version. I'm primarily a DBA, so I already know about the Schema security change going from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005.
In a nutshell, here's my plan:
1. Take fresh backup of the existing CMS database
2. Stop Crystal Management Server
3. Click "Specify CMS Data Source" on the toolbar.
4. ETC--following the steps in the admin guide
If anyone has done this and has run into any problems (what I'm expecting) or had it go smoothly (I would be surprised), please let me know what to expect.

All you really need to do is stop the crystal services.
Backup the CMS and Auditing database
Detach the CMS and Auditing database
Copy CMS and Auditing databases to new DB server
Attach the CMS and Auditing databases
Set the compatibility mode
On the servers/s that host the CMS service, modify the ODBC connections to point to the new database server
Start the CMS service, fire up the Crystal services.
One thing to note, I don't think SQL 2005 is a supported platform for CE10 - this doesn't mean it won't work and since the support lifecycle for the product is long gone it doesn't really make much difference however you may want to run some thorough testing prior to the move.

I am trying to share a printer from one MacBook to another. One machine is running OS 10.9.1, the other is running 10.7.5. In the "Add Printers" dialog box of System Preferences, no shared printers on my home network are appearing on the 10.9 machine. What do I do to get them to appear?

In System Preferences / Sharing, make sure you have checked Printer Sharing on both computers.

I had to go to the Mac store to get the answer to this one... i was archiving correctly, but you need to save the mbox files to your desktop, then move them to the shared folder, that way all users have access. I also had to edit the permissions on the files, as the user i wanted to have the emails didn't have permission to even look at the files.

When moving a page from one pdf to another I see a message "consolidating fonts" and the added page does not view properly

I am working with multiple PDF files in Acrobat Pro XI. Sometimes when I move a page from one PDF to another it does not view properly. It was fine in the source PDF, but not when moved to the desired PDF. I also see a message momentarily across the bottom of my screen that says "consolidating fonts". What must I do to fix this?

Follow these steps for Acrobat 11 .
Launch Acrobat>Tools>Print Production>Acrobat Distiller
Now in Acrobat Distiller follow these.
Select Standard in Default settings.
Go to Settings and select Edit Adobe PDF Settings.
Select Fonts and in the font source window select the fonts you want to Add.
Click Save As and then OK.

When moving my iphone from one itunes computer to another, the apps installed on the original computer do not show on the new one. How do I get those apps to be recognized on the new computer without deleting them all from my iphone as it asks.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

Moving a method from one class to another issues

Hi, im new. Let me explain what i am trying to achieve. I am basically trying to move a method from one class to another in order to refactor the code. However every time i do, the program stops working and i am struggling. I have literally tried 30 times these last two days. Can some one help please? If shown once i should be ok, i pick up quickly.
