Moving from 32bit XP to 64bit Win8 - is this OK as a Licensed CS 5.5 user

And can I use the 64bit version of CS 5.5 without incurring any additional costs.
Basically my system died and I am getting a new one.
Thanks!
Nick

  • Migration SAP-System from 32bit-server to 64bit- server

We want to change our SAP SOLMAN EHP1-system , which running
    on LINUX SLES9 32bit ( with MAXDB 7.7 ) to a new target server with LINUX SLES10 64bit ( as well MAXDB 7.7 ).
We have also the same OS Linux but differents releases.
My question: Can I perform this change with the tool "homogene
Systemcopy" or is there any other solution for this problem ??

A Solution Manager is a combined ABAP + Java system. You can do a database copy approach but you must use sapinst to migrate the Java part (it's all included in sapinst).
Keep in mind that your JDK changes, for 32bit Linux you must use the Sun JDK, for x86_64 you must use the IBM JDK. The migration may fail on initial attempt since the parameter for the Sun JDK are different to those for the IBM JDK. You'd then have to adapt the parameters using configtool before you can continue.
Apart from that it should be smooth.

we upgrade 10.2.4.0 database from 32bit (Windows 2003 os ) to 64 bit (windows).
    the steps:
    1. Install 10g server and client in 64 bit server and run patch set.
    2. Restore rman db backup (from 32bit machine ) to 64bit server. Migrate database in new server.
    3. setup EM db console in new server.
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create

    Hi,
    1) Is there any matrix to show servers certified for 64bits Oracle 10g?All most all 64-bit server platforms support oracle database 10g *(Intel, AMD, Itanium)*

Can we restore production 63bitsdb to UAT server? If can, how?Database 10g is 64 bit software you can keep your production database on any of the 32-bit machine. I dont think there will be no issues.
IF can, how?It depends upon your policies, whether u are restoring complete cold backup, export/import, rman TTS.
    6) What is the known issue for oracle running on 64bits?I dont find any issues oracle databases running on 64-bit. Oracle database software itself is a 64-bit software.

  • Changing from 32bit to 64 bit Creative Cloud version

Since 3 month I have a licence for Photoshop ceative cloud. No I decided to change from 32bit Labtop to 64bit Labtop because to be faster for the adobe applications.
How can I install the new 64 bit version on the new Labtop with the existing licence agreement?
    Best regards

  • Oracle 10g XE migrate from 32bit to 64bit becomes slower

Oracle 10g XE migrate from 32bit to 64bit becomes slower
Currently we have a database using Oracle 10g XE R2
(Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0)
    on a linux 32bit server.
And recently we did migrate it to another 64bit linux server.
But found after migration is it running slower at 64bit server (~ 25% slower)
    1. We would wonder any tuning is required on 64bit server?
Besides, as I know Oracle XE only using single core CPU for processing.
    On 32bit linux the CPU is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31235 @ 3.20GHz
    On 64bit linux the CPU is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2470 v2 @ 2.40GHz
    2. Would the CPU clock speed on a single core also made the 64bit Oracle slower?
    Thanks a lot.

32 or 64 bit normally won't cause much performance difference as long as you can't use > 4GB RAM
Please note that XE can use only 1 core and 1GB memory.
According to benchmarks, Single Thread Rating of the 2 CPU really differ by around 25%. Quite consistent with your observation.
Of course, IO (i.e., disk) speed is also an important factor.

  • I have a new tower in 64bit and need to reinstall photoshop cs6 from 32bit

Is it possible to reinstall from adobe site in 64bit?

The original Install media shoud have 32 and 64 bit installers. If the system is 64 bit, it gives the option to install both. If it's 32bit, only that one will install.
If you don't have your original install media, you can download CS6 here: http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html
You must follow the instructions VERY CAREFULLY. There's a link to login with your Adobe ID and then you have to refresh the downloads page or the download links WILL NOT WORK.

  • Connecting to 64bit database from 32bit system

Hi everyone. I'm going to install 64bit oracle 11g on new machine and move the whole database (which is now on oracle xe running under 32bit windows) onto it. So the question is: did anyone experience any problems while connecting with JDBC Thin to 64bit oracle from 32bit system ? Thanks in advance for answers and any suggestions.

    strannik wrote:

Myself the only problems I would expect would be in correctly setting up the database itself.

  • What is the best way to update Windows 7 Boot from 32bit to 64bit?

I'm sure this has been answered a number of times, but I can't quite seem to get a search query that takes me where I want to be. Here's the issue.
I have a Macbook Pro 15" Early 2011. I just put 8GB of RAM in it, replacing the stock 4GB. I use Boot Camp to run Windows 7 32bit, which can only use so much of the 8GB RAM (2.16 useable). I've read around and understand I'll need to update to 64bit Windows. What's the most painless way to do this with Boot Camp that will preserve all my files on the Windows 7 boot.
Thank you for your help in advance.

    radioactivepal wrote:
So, I should back up Windows 7 while in Windows or should I do that with Boot Camp? I'm a bit confused about the process in general.
You can not 'upgrade' 32bit Windows to 64bit 'inplace'. You will need to perform a custom install, this will erase you existing 32bit installation entirely. Then you can install the 64bit version and all your programs.
How much Ram do you have?
Sorry about that question, I read slower than I type
Don't forget to make a full backup of your Windows files before you start the installation, they will not be there after you finish.

  • Moving from 32 bit to 64 bit

What is the recommended method to move a RAC cluster from 32 bit to 64 bit architecture with the least amount downtime. I am using NetApp for storage in a 2 node cluster.

You didn't indicate the current version. Anyways, if you are planning to move from Oracle9i to oracle10g RAC, you don't have do anything explicitly, the upgrade process would covert from 32bit and 64bit. Or, please refer to metalink note:62290.1 for pointers on the actual procedure.

My concern is since we will be moving from 32-bit to a 64-bit OS how will this impact our upgrade process?I assume your EBS single machine. EBS r11 is not certified wiht 64 bit OS.So you need to upgrade first than migrate it 64 bit

  • Can I run a 4-arch binary as 32bits on a 64bit Mac?

I created a 4-arch executable (ppc/intel & 32/64bits). On a 64bit Mac it runs as a 64bit program. On a 32bit Mac it runs as 32bits. I would like to force it to run as 32bits on a 64bit Mac, without stripping out the 64bit architectures. (some seldom-used plugins for the program can only be built 32bits on OSX)
64/32 bit OSX applications have a checkbox in Get info to open in 32bit mode, but CLI executables don't have this option.
    Can this be done?

If you using Leopard, look at the 'arch' command. It has been enhanced to allow you to change the search order for the universal programs. They also talk about using it to set up the specific type through an arch command. I could not find where they are keeping the search order yet and personally have not used 'arch' in this manner.
The man page for Tiger does not mention this functionality. So, I assume that it is not in Tiger. You might get further explanation from my message:

  • Collecting SQL Server Database Details from 32bit Instances Result in Error

    Hello,
I am working with a customer to use the MAP toolkit to collection and SQL Server Instance and Database Details in their environment.  At present we are testing the MAP toolkit against one server that has seven instances installed on it.  One instance
is 64bit and the others are 32bit.  All instances get discovered; however, the database details are only collected for the 64bit instance.  All of the other instances are marked as failed.  We ran MAP again with the tracing turned on and the
only errors for the six instances that failed appear to be WMI namespace errors showing up repeatedly (see below).  This is just one example, but these invalid namespace errors are all over the log.
How can we resolve these errors?
Does MAP support collecting database details from 32bit instances?

  • How to make LR 2.4 open to CS4 32bit instead of 64bit

I recently upgraded my OS from Vista 32bit to Vista 64bit. I had no problems installing the CS4 Production bundle as well as Lightroom 2.4. A bit of a hitch installing a couple of plugin in CS4 64bit so I need to use 32bit, which is a bummer, but still acceptable. What i'm trying to figure out is, how do I let LR 2.4 "Edit in Photoshop" and more importantly "Open as Smart Object" in Photoshop CS4 32bit instead of 64bit by default?

I believe the way to do this is to start the 32-bit Photoshop binary before you call "Edit in PS". Lightroom will automatically use the open version and not start the 64-bit version if the other is running.

  • Form button does not work when a program is moved from Windows 8.2 to Windows 7

    Hi,
I have a few Excel programs which use the ODBC to get data from Access and which have macros which writes data to an external program, MYOB.
When the macros tries to write the data to MYOB it fails if I am not running the program in administrator mode.   It seems that Windows 8.2 has a different level of security than Windows 7 and must be run in administrator mode for the ODBC to work.
I have had issues after running the program in administrator mode (testing) if I simply do a save (in administrator mode) and then send it to the customer.   The issue is that it just will not work on the customer's site.   I have gotten
around this in the past by saving any changes, going back out of excel, loading the program again (not in administrator mode) and saving it - before sending it to the customer.   This worked until now.
For some unknown reason, the last time I sent a program to the customer and carried out the above process, the program stopped working.   Originally I thought that the macro just wouldn't work on windows 7, but eventually found that it is the form button
that will no longer work when the program is moved from 8.2 to 7.
Does anyone know why there is an incompatibility between 8.2 and Windows 7 and what I should be doing to ensure that my programs work in my customers environment(windows7)?
In the meanwhile, I have changed the form button to an activex button and the program works fine in both environments.
    Thanking you in advance,

there is some OP report after Windows update Dec 2014 macro stop responding ( I cant confirm if this is also related to your issue) its because security update for Office maybe conflict with the active-x that you are installed
    try to
    Close Excel
    Start Windows Explorer.
Select your system drive (usually C:)
Use the Search box to search for *.exd
Delete all the files it finds.
    Start Excel again
Open that file and save it, and try open at Windows 7
to get more detail about this issue, I suggest also contact Office forum
this case also will be solve installing kb3025036
