Moving from Starter Edition 3.2 to Elements 6 on new Windows 7 computer

I had been using Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 on a Windows XP computer.  I recently got a new Windows 7 computer and I just used the Windows 7 Easy Transfer feature to move my images and other files from the Windows XP computer to my new Windows 7 computer, on which I have also just installed Elements 7.
How do I import the catalog information (tags, etc.) from SE 3.2 to Elements 6?  It doesn't look like the Easy Transfer feature copied over any of the catalog files from my old computer, but I suppose I could manually copy them over if I knew which files to copy.  Another factor is that the path for the pictures has changed, since on my old Windows XP computer, it was in a D:\Pictures directory, and on the new computer it's in the Public Pictures directory on the C:\ drive (I don't have a D:\ drive on my new Windows 7 computer).
Would appreciate any suggestions since for now I'm holding off on adding any new picture to my new PC until I know what to do about the old ones.  Thanks in advance!

You can install PSE on the XP machine.Convert the catalog on of starter edition to PSE.Take the backup of the catalog on XP machine and then restore it on the windows 7 machine. This way you will have all the data of the catalog on your XP machine.

Your photos are just files somewhere on your harddrive and you import them via the organizer. Doesn't really involve any specifics beyond that.

  • From starter edition to photoshop elements 12

how do we transfer the collections and tags from windows xp (adobe starter edition) to windows 8.1 (adobe photoshop elements 12)? There are close to 200 collections in ADOBE STARTER EDITION 3.2. It looks like elements 12 calls them albums.

Trial version is a fully functional version of the product that you can use for thirty days. you can download and install it from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_elements&loc=us.
Photoshop Elements consists of two components. The Organizer with which you manage and organize your media. This is where collections and tags will show. The Editor with which you can edit your images.
If it does what you want, you would install the product from the trial download onto your Windows 8 computer. Then backup your catalog from your XP machine and restore it to your Windows 8 machine.

Uploading newer ios on Ipad 2 - things were going well then got a picture of the apple logo and a line moving from start to end - stopped short of end and can't do anything now - HELP

Try a soft-reset and see if that gets it to boot up properly : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should reappear and it will hopefully boot up.
If it doesn't then try recovery mode and restore/resync your content : If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Does this mean I will lose the music from my ipod forever?
Yes, that is exactly what it means.
The right way to do it is to first rebuild your library on the new computer, and then sync the iPod.
You can rebuild your library by copying the library from the old computer or from your backup.
If neither of those options is available, you can extract the songs from the iPod, although the process is a bit hairy.  See this guide for the procedure, written by Forum member Steve/turingtest2.

  • Starter Edition 3.2 to Elements 8 Upgrade problem

    Hi,
I have a perfectly functioning copy of Starter Edition 3.2 running on my Windows XP desktop and wanted to upgrade to Elements 8.
I followed the link from 3.2 and downloaded the trial version of Elements to give it a go.
When i launch Elenments 8 it is completely blank, not showing any of my thumnails or tags etc.
Can someone possibly provide a step by step guide on how to get Elements 8 to disply everything my SE 3.2 is (SE 3.2 still working, i have not un-installed it).
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hope this helps:
    1. Go into Starter Edition, under the Help menu, select 'System Info'. Under 'Current Catalog', note the catalog location.
    2. Go into Photoshop Elements, under the File menu, select Catalog
    3. Click the 'Custom Location' button
    4. Click the 'Browse' button
    5. Navigate to the location indicated in Starter Edition as the location of your Catalog
    6. Click the 'Convert' button
    7. Select the catalong from Photoshop Album, then click Convert.

  • Migration from Photoshop Album Starter Edition 2.0 to PSE9 on new PC running Windows 7 ?

Troubles in the migration of 12.000 carefully tagged pictures to new PC and new PSE9
I finally was able to use my old catalog, created with Starter edition 2.0, with all his tags, on my new computer in Photoshop album Edition 3.2, and this works normally, but will stop after now less than 10 times using it ( as no more registration is possible ).
Photoshop Elements 9 is now running on my pc, BUT, when I try to convert the old catalog ( catalog.psa ), it fails with the following message : "The conversion failed cause the file of your catalog is corrupted. Try to fix it into your old software, and start again ". But, in my old software Album 3.2, there is no possibility to "repair" the catalog ..... And when I try "Open as" with PSE9, it says " This type of file is not supported ".
So, my catalog.psa which is indeed an MS access file cannot be converted in catalog.PSE9db. I was thinking that maybe an older version of Elements would be helpful, but I can't find any available trial. Any idea to help me further ?

    Thank you Mark ,
This is a very quick and complete answer and I was lucky enough to be able to download the needed software.
Unfortunately, when I tried to upgrade Phtoshop Album Starter Edition 2.0 to 3.2, it says that the tags will be kept ( saved ), but when opening 3.2, all pictures are there, but no tag at all ....
Is there anything else ( or more ) I could try to recover those tags ?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Merge photos from starter edition to another edition on same computer

I have both Adobe Photoshop Album 3.0 starter edition and Adobe 2.0 Photoshop on my PC. I accidentally downloaded some pictures from my camera onto the 3.0 edition (I primarily use the 2.0 edition). Is there any way to move the pictures in the 3.0 album to my 2.0 album (same computer)?

    Hi Claire,
The photos are downloaded to your hard disc and hence you can import them again into 2.0 album. Select the File->Get Photos->From Files and Folder opttion, browse to the folder where the images have been downloaded and import them intp 2.0 album.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help retrieving pics/videos from Starter Edition 3

I have pictures and videos in Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3 that I can't retrieve. When I plugged my camera into my computer, it automatically downloaded to Starter Edition, but if I can't retrieve them, then why did it do that? Then it erased them off my camera so I can't download it to another software. When I try to register Adobe, it says the product was discontinued and to upgrade. I can't upgrade because I don't use Windows Vista. I need to get those pics and videos asap. Please help! Thank you!!!

  • In Firefox v4.0.1, custom toolbars disappear from the toolbar menu when I open a "New Window".

    1.
I created a new toolbar in Customize... / Add New Toolbar. It's on the list of toolbars and opens up '''most times''' I start Firefox, but not ''always''. I have tested it and it is completely random.
    2.
Same type of problem as 1., but '''''everytime''''' I use the 'New Window' feature the custom toolbar disappears from the toolbar menu and if I need to use it, I have to '''save all tabs as bookmark''' then close and reopen FireFox so I get my original window [where the toolbar shows up]. AARRRGHH.
I've been using FF for 7 years now, so I know enough to rule out corrupted localstore.rdf, new or updated add-ons (I could be wrong though, as I often am...).
Has this come up with other users? Am I being cursed? [lol] any help would be appreciated.

    cor-el,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
You know, you're right. I should try everything, no matter how smart I think I am!
It's been 3 days since I deleted the localstore.rdf file and so far so good.
    Thanxs for the help

  • How to move all music files and pictures from Ipod nano to a new Windows computer that was not backed up on an external harddrive, only found on my ipod.

My windows lap top was recently destroyed to the point of no recovery.
All of my music and picture files are still located on my ipod and I plan on getting a new windows laptop
Is there anyway that I can transfer my (unpurchased) music files and pictures from my ipod nano to my new computer?
The pictures are more important that the music, so if only one is possible, I would prefer that
I appreciate any ones helpful comments

Copy the iTunes library from your backup as below:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
    Sync with the restored library.
