Hi Guy's,
I have implemented GC and now I wants to migrate my GC to diffrent machine, How we can go for that? What are the alternatives?

Good catch, I don't see it on Metalink either, give me an email address where I can send you the doc I got from Oracle. See below details:

  • Moving Database From One Machine to Another

    Hello all,
I'm a complete noob to oracle. I have a few questions before I can start working with oracle.
    1. If I develop a database on one machine(e.g. at home), how do I move/copy the database to some other machine (e.g. work).
    2. If I develop the front end using Oracle Forms/Reports. How can I deploy the Forms/Reports to the clients, so that the clients may be able to enter data and view reports using the database on the server (LAN environment). Do I only need to install forms Runtime on the clients and keep a copy of all the .fmx files there (if that is the solution, how would the forms connect to the database that is stored on the server)?
THanks for any help in advance.
    Faheem.

Ad. 1 - If you are developing some parts of database in home and some parts in
the office read about import (imp) export(exp) utilities in Oracle they can be handy for
    you.

  • Moving users from one machine to another

I am trying to move users from a Solaris 2.6 box to a new Solaris 9 box. I tried moving /etc/passwd /etc/shadow and /etc/group to the new box, but when I try to login I get the following error in /var/adm/messages
Mar 17 17:10:15 host.name sshd[1573]: [ID 800047 auth.error] error: Could not get shadow information for NOUSER
I also tried running pwconv to make a new shadow file from the passwd file.. no good.
How do I move these users to this new machine?

You shouldn't really have overwritten the whole passwd / shadow / group files - did you back them up first?
If so, reinstate them and then just copy the entries you require.
You'll also need the home directories for each user - if they're all in the same place, eg /export/home then you could tar it up and copy it over....
    tar cvf /tmp/home.tar /export/home
    compress /tmp/home.tar
copy /tmp/home.tar.Z to new box and untar it.

  • Moving AD from one machine to another

I have a virtual net work in VMWare consisting of a machine running AD, with its own domain, let's say MyDomain.local, and with several other servers and clients joined to the domain. The machine hosting AD is running server 2008 standard. What I want to
do is to have a VM running Server 2012 R2 64 bit, as the DC. I cannot upgrade the Server 2008 VM since that one is 32 bit. I tried setting up a Server 2012 VM, installed AD on it, joined the domain, promoted to DC. All the AD objects, users, groups, machines,
replicated to that new VM, as well as all the DNS entities. However when I try to use that new one by itself to log on to other VM's I get the no logon server not available message. I could create a new domain on the new VM, manually add the AD objects, then
use that as the logon server. The problem with that is not only the amount of time it would take, but that the main purpose of the whole setup is to serve as the environment for SharePoint development, and I have a lot of service accounts that would have to
be redone. As you can probably now tell I am not a network, or server, guy but a dev guy so am limited in what I can do with Server 2012.
    Any Ideas?

Why can't you add additional DC to your existing AD?

  • Moving iTunes from one machine to another

    MY HARDWARE:
OLD:  Apple iMac G4 1.25 GHz  300 GB HDD
NOT SO OLD: Apple MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core2Duo   500 GB HDD
    MY MAC SOFTWARE
    IMAC: MacOS 10.4.11,  iTunes 9.02
MACBOOK PRO:  MacOS 10.6,  iTunes 10.6.1
For years, I've put this off, but my iMac is getting long in tooth and I thought I would post a question here.
I've used the iMac for a desktop workstation and family office file server since 2003. I've also used the iMac to run iTunes to feed an aging iPod. (ripping music from CDs, downloading video and audio podcast subscriptions and playing them on the iMac, etc.)
My goal is to eventually replace the iMac, but I want to shift all the iTunes responsibilities to my MacBook Pro now.
Is there a way to copy all the necessary files and folders over so that the MacBook Pro can pick up the music and podcast subscriptions without any hiccups or needs to re-establish links?
NOTE: to date, I have never bought any music or movies from the iTunes Store.
ALSO OF NOTE: I have backup copies of the Users folders on both machines on an external hard drive, if that helps.

Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.
    Start iTunes.
That is all you need to do.

  • Problem Moving Project from One Machine to Another

    Hi.
I teach in the school of communication at a university. Tonight, I tried to share a FCP project with my students in a lab setting. I wanted them to continue to edit what I had started.
I gave each of them the FCP project folder on a thumb drive. They downloaded the folder to their desktop.
When they launched the project they got the "Media Offline" window. There is only one file, a WAV file, in the project, so it was easy to find and reconnect.
The problem was that each of them got an error message about the "Media Start and End."
I had cut the single WAV file into a much shorter edit, and all those edits went all screwy, I believe due to this error. For instance, the WAV file is an interview, and I'd cut out the interviewer's questions, leaving only the subject's replies. But when my students opened the project, the edits I'd made included the interviewer's questions, left out some of the subject's answers, etc.
I'd really appreciate any input on what I need to do in order for a project to open on a student's computer exactly as I have saved it on my computer(s).
    Thanks very much.

Go back to your original project file. Give the original media a *Reel Name*.
Use Media Manager (in the File menu bar item) to consolidate a linked copy of the media and its project file to a folder of your choosing.
Detailed information on using Media Manager can be found in the FCP User Manual.

  • How do I properly transfer CS from one machine to another

I want to remove my apps and license from one machine and move to another. I uninstalled CC, but the apps are still on the machine and functioning? Will I be able to move to a new machine without trouble?

There might not be a need to depending on your preferences.  You are allowed to have two working installations, so you could keep the original as a backup if you like.  If not, then you need to sign out of the original thru the manager.  As far as getting the software on a new machine, you need to install them using installation files the same way you installed originally... moving software from one machine to another does not work.
Download/install the desktop application, sign in, install the subscription application(s).

  • Recovering data from one machine to another

    Hi all;
I've mentioned this in another thread but would really like to deal with it. Recently, I had to move my iPhone from one machine to another. All was well and I managed to move all my apps from one machine to the current one. The problem is with a purchased app called TripLog that stores data on driven mileage. On moving the app over, I didn't get the data.
I contacted the software people and this is what I got:
"As far as data, the iTunes software automatically backs up all data to the desktop. The "Apple data" (contacts, calendar, etc) are backed up to the corresponding desktop apps (Address Book, iCal, etc) but data from "3rd party" apps are backed up in an encrypted, totally nonaccessible (to anyone but iTunes) format. That is used by iTunes when you do a "Restore".
"I would call Apple tech support if I were you, because unfortunately, that's all we know. The data IS somewhere on the desktop (I believe) but how you could transfer it to a new handheld I have no idea."
So the question is, Where is that data stored? In my user/Music/iTunes/Mobile Apps folder there were three versions of this app. I tried moving them all over and kept getting dialogs asking me if I wanted to repace an older version with the newer ones I was moving over. Since my iPhone and the new host computer didn't have TripLog I assumed I should replace but now I am not sure.
I can stil move over these files, but I have a feeling that they are not data so much as simply the app itself. Where is that data stored?
For the record, I have moved files from an iMac G5 to a Macbook running 10.6.1 and iTunes 9.0.1 with an iPhone 3G running 3.0.1
    Help?
    Stan

Many thanks!!! One more question; do I just move that file over and drag and drop or do I need to do an import into the folder, "Automatically Add to iTunes?" Further, will this affect all my data on the phone? For example, I have synced and made changes in things like iCal, Address Book, Mail, etc. Will the last few days be wiped out or replaced by the moved-in data?

  • Transfering keystore from one machine to another

    Hi.
I've purchased a java signing digital ID from Verisign,
installed a keystore on one machine, imported the
certificate and I'm able to sign jar files. Now, I want to
be able to sign jar files on another machine instead of
moving jar files back and forth. Is there a way to
transfer keystore from one machine to another?
    Thanks,
    Jay

Can't say that I did this, but what I did do is... prior to importing my certificate reply from Verisign, I copied the .keystore file from the c:\windows directory on my Windows 98 machine onto a Win2K machine into the c:\Documents and Settings\<username> directory. Then I did the keytool -import. Since this worked for me, my guess would be that transferrring the .keystore file after the import would work too.

  • How to copy/move Portal database from one machine to another?

I am receiving a ORA-22973 error (size of object identifier exceeds maxmum size allowed) on the wwsec_enabler_config_info$ table when attempting to import my entire "portal30" schema from one database to another on different Windows NT Servers.
Background: I had Portal 3.0.9.8 installed, configured, and running with the following setup:
    Machine 1: Windows NT 4.0 SP 6, Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2, Oracle Portal 3.0.9.8
    Machine 2: Windows NT 4.0 SP 6, Oracle 8i Database 8.1.7.0.0
We no longer have use of Machine 2 and needed to move the database over to Machine 1.
    I performed the following steps:
    1. Installed Oracle 8i database 8.1.7.0.0 on Machine 1.
    2. Set up the tablespaces in the database on Machine 1 to match the same names and sizes of the tablespaces in the database on Machine 2.
    3. Used the Oracle "exp" command to export the entire database that resided on Machine 2.
    4. Copied the ".dmp" file to Machine 1.
    5. Used the Oracle "imp" command to import the entire database on Machine 1.
    6. The import completed successfully with warnings. But I had received the ORA-22973 error during the import process.
    7. After it completed I compared the list of tables and packages in the "portal30" schema between the two databases. The wwsec_enabler_config_info$ table is missing.
    8. I tried to export and import only the wwsec_enabler_config_info$ table between the two databases, but continue to receive the ORA-22973 error.
Without the table being created, access to the portal cannot be achieved.
    Here are my questions:
    1. Is there anyway to create the wwsec_enabler_config_info$ table without receiving the noted error?
    2. Is there any other workable way to get the portal database from Machine 2 to Machine 1?
I am aware of the portal import/export utilities but that would require me to run through the 2 hour install of Portal 3.0.9.8 on the database on Machine 1 and then individually export and import all the portal components (security, pages, applications, content library, etc). I merely wanted to transfer the entire database from one machine to another, so I felt the Oracle exp/imp utilities would be quicker and less work.

    Hi,
I've been hitting problems with Portal 3.0.9.8.1 against 8.1.7.2.1 on NT - i.e., Intermedia not working at all, and have been advised by support to move back to 8.1.7.1.1.
I don't want to lose any of my content in the Portal since the db upgrade and am wondering on what is the best way to do this.
The version of the Portal will be the same so I am hoping I can just use the Portal export and import utilities, as afterall, it is just data and the schema structures are the same between db versions. I'm also hoping that the Portal export doesn't use the standard Oracle EXP tool as it doesn't work anymore on 8.1.7.2.1 on NT!!
    Regards,
    John

  • How can I migrate an Essbase Appl. from one machine to another?

We uses 3 computers to cover our development cycle: one for developing, one for testing with almost real data (integration test) and a production machine.I created a new Essbase appl. and want to transfer it from one machine to another, but only using batch scripts (ESSCMD) due to company policy. I don't know where the name of the application is stored. (I thought it is essbase.sec, but I believe is not true)I transfer all the files that belongs to an appl. (the list of them I get using BEGINARCHIVE) but is not enough.Does anyone have a hint?

If you can map a drive to each to the servers, then:1. Create an application/database on the new server with the same names as those on the old server.2. Use Windows/DOS, copy the outline (.otl), calc scripts (.csc) and load rules (.rul) to the new server.3. Export the database from the old server to a file(s) on the new server.4. Stop/start the new database/app.5. Import the data into the new server (no load rule needed).

  • Moving images from one library to another; or how to have 2 libraries open at the same time in Aperture 2

This may be something easy but for some reason I am having a hard time figuring this out. Basically this is the situation: I have a library on my MBP hd that I import pictures to when I am not hooked up to my external hd for the time being. The main library is of course on the external 2tb drive. How do I have 2 libraries open so that I can essentially drag and drop the pictures from one library to another? It would basically be like moving files from one project to another. Thanks for any help!

Always keep a backup of your original images, before you delete them. I make a backup right form the card, before I even import them to Aperture.
How are your images stored right now? Are the referenced or managed? On your big volume I'd consolidate the newly imported images, to be sure they are really inside the Aperture library before I delete any images outside the library.
but they have the little yellow triangle caution symbol on them and I can see them but not really edit them
That is a very typical problem, when you imported your images as referenced images then somehow delete or move the original master image files, that are stored outside the Aperture library.
Do you still have the original masters of the images with the yellow triangle that you cannot edit? In Aperture 3 you can point Aperture to the location of the master image file "File >Locate referenced image" - probably Aperture 2 has a similar command to let you reconnect your masters, if you still have them. Look into the manual.
