Moving Home - at my wits end!

I placed a moving home order on the 12th April for both phone and broadband with an installation date of the 29th April. I ONLY placed my order with BT because they had the quickest installation dates..hah!  We were moving from one rural location to another and the house we were moving into had been in possession of a phone line for 30 years, or thereabouts.
My broadband order was cancelled on the 13th due to a "problem" with my phone line and when I spoke to BT I was told my broadband order would be re-raised on the 30th April the day after my line was activated.  I wasn't happy but it was what it was and it was only a day...right?
29th April arrived, some 10 days after we had moved into the property, and a sub-contractor arrived first thing and was really nice and helpful. We however had no dial tone by the time he finished but he said it would be down to the guys at the exchange to "switch the phone on" and it might be midnight before it happened. So off went the contractor and we waited, irked, until lunchtime when surprise surprise a BT engineer arrived at the door.
The engineer informed us there was no line available for us and until BT provided one we would not be able to get a phone installed let alone internet. However as this was a "provision issue" it would be dealt with expediently and should only take a couple of days.
As disheartened as I was there was no choice but to "suck it up" which I did until about 3pm when another BT Engineer called. This engineer informed us that there was a line for us but it was broken somewhere in the pipework and it could, and probably would take weeks to fix, or might not even be fixed at all!
So the following day I called BT and had my very first dealing with BT India. BT India assured me that I would have a working line within 2 days and the engineers had just reported a minor fault. Wednesday arrived and of course there was no line but another call to BT had me guaranteed a working line by Friday.  Friday came and went with no line and BT India promising an activation date a few days in the future.
This...farce has continued since then with date after date being guaranteed and missed, requests of speaking to supervisors and/or managers ignored or just refused outright and promise after promise of someone calling me back to give me a reliable timeline of resolution.
I have spent well over £100 (probably well over £200) in calling BT and spending hours and hours on hold, being passed from pillar to post all calls conducted on a mobile phone, which was specifically purchased because of this nightmare, because there is no public phone box close to where I live.
Today however, really took the biscuit. Yesterday during one of my numerous calls to BT the person dealing with me sent out my broadband hub, even though I still have no working phone line, with an expected delivery date of today.  Of course it never arrived today, which was no real surprise as everything BT has promised has not materialised, but turns out it DID arrive at my OLD ADDRESS - the one I left on the 19th April!!!
I am almost pulling my hair out here  I just want to know when will I get my phone line and broadband working and will BT reimburse me for all the additional expense I have incurred calling BT India who have no idea what they are doing?

  • ATV2 music drops out after 2-3 songs, withou fail.  Restarted/rebooted everything and my router shows no signal drops, suspect it is the home sharing but can't get into it to fix it. Am at my wits end.

Recently bought the ATV2, all working well until 2-3 songs played and it drops out and returns to the main menu.  I have rebooted/restarted everything, and checked the event log in my router which shows no drop outs in WiFi connection.  When I tested it with a movie, it worked, ran for the length of the movie, but when I put on music it did it again. Suspect problem is software, maybe the home sharing and the time until it drops out is close to the same each time.  I am at a complete loss, and at my wits end.  Please help

  • At my wits end re Saga of erratic Broadband connec...

I guess there are many people with connection speed problems but are they general or related to local exchanges or what.
I have been a customer of BT Broadband based in Tavistock Devon, for 2 years or more and during this time my connection speed has been consistently reliable and fast.  It started of at around 7.5Mb and increased last year to 14 Mb as they switched me to a faster link at the exchange and I have consistently achieved those speeds until 14th April 2012 when after losing web access totally and being put through the test hoops by the BT support people in India, it was agreed that my Home Hub 2 had failed.  I could only finally prove this by connecting up an old Netgear hub I had and proving that everything was then OK, despite the fact that I kept telling them that everything had worked satisfactorily for two years and had only just gone wrong.  They seem fixated on - either the amber light comes on the router - in which case it's the line, or no amber light shows on the router in which case it's a wireless fault and it's down to you the user to fix it.
They agreed to send me a new hub and after 3 days (despite them promising it would be a next day delivery) I recieved a new Home Hub 3 which I duly connected up and everything seemed OK.  However, my wife uses a DS connected over the internet to play online with friends around the world.  The problem is this game will only work on a hub with WEP security set ( It doesn't like WPA or WPA2) so I have had the previous router set to WEP and everything has worked OK.  When I try this on the Home Hub3, the game will not work and having spoken to Nintendo, they cannot explain why that would be.  BT also cannot explain why it would be different with HH3 and decided to send out an engineer to me but to also ship me a brand new Home Hub 2.  The engineer duly came out and checked my internal connections, checked the line between my house and the exchange and pronounced everything in order.  I had to agree on that day running my normal BB Max speedtest, I was getting nearer 10Mb and assumed that as I had switched routers there would maybe be a learning curve again and the speed would get back up to full speed after a few days.
As everything seemed to be working apart from the DS, I assumed that I would be able to replace the HH3 with the HH2 when it arrived and everything would then be back to normal.  Well, it wasn't and after a few days the speed dropped back to almost zero.  Over the next couple of days the speed jumped around from between 436Kb to 4Mb but nowhere near the 14 Mb I had been getting.
So back on the phone to India, and having gone through all the basic tests yet again, they agreed to send an engineer out who "understood" about wireless as they thought this would be more helpful.  The engineer was booked for 26th April and over the ensuing days, the connection speed bounced about from less than 1 Meg and up to 14Meg.  I had checked my home wireless network, paying paricular attention to the wireless signal strength using InSSIDER which shows the amplitude of the wireless signal from any router in the vicinity.  One thing I noticed was that th HH3 signal was almost as weak as my neighbours HH2 and also seemed to be quite erratic.  I tried changing channels which did improve it a bit. On the 25th April in the afternoon, I lost my telephone connection for about 15 minutes and then amazingly, the internet connection speed jumped up to 14 - 15Mb almost immediately.  I was looking forward to the Open Reach engineer visiting hoping he would be able to determine what was wrong.  He arrived at 8:15 on the morning and I first asked him whether anything had been changed at the exchange end yesterday as things had now seemed to be back to how they had been originally.  He said, I don't know, I'm not based at the exchange but from what you describe it could be a "cut and move" or some similar term, I can't remember exactly, but he implied that they may have moved my connection to a different port in the exchange.
We then went upstairs where I have all my system and where the line comes up from the master socket downstairs by the street entrance.  He then asked me how many devices I had connected to the HH3 router.  At that moment I only had my own desktop and my wife's laptop.  He asked how many devices I usually have connected to the router and I went through a list - 1 Desktop PC , 2 Laptops, A PS3, a Nintendo Wii, a nintendo DSiXL, A Humax PVR, an Epson printer and finally my daughters Android phone when she was visiting.  I made it clear that not all theses devices would be accessing the internet at once, and at most I might have three or four devices connected at the same time.  Well that's what your problem is, he said, you can't connect more than 3 or 4 devices to this router!  Who says I asked,  I just did he replied.  Yes I know that but where are you getting that information from?  Well you can't just connect loads of devices to the router, it's like telephone extensions, you can't just connect any number of phones, there's a limit to how many the router will take.  I was astounded by this comment and said so.  He seemed to know nothing about wireless networks and when I said that I had used similar set-ups in an office environment, he said well you only have a domestic router and that has a limit to the number of devices.  I said, but BT offer the same router to their Business customers.  He was really aggresive and patronising and I was becoming very frustrated by his attitude so I said maybe he had better do his tests and then leave.  At this he just said, I don't have to put up with this, and stomped out of my home without doung anything.
On 3rd May the Home Hub 2 arrived which I then connected up and everything seemd to work OK.  The connection speed seemed to be more or less stable at around 14Mb, so I concluded that something had been done at the exchange which had corrected the fault.  This was later confirmed when I spoke to the Indian support people again who recorded that there had been a line fault (low voltage on the line) which would have explained why my connection was erratic.  This had been corrected on 26th April.  I had contacted India again to complain about the way I had been dealt with and why it had taken so long to correct the problem.  They said they would arrange for a rebate on my Broadband rental as I had lost my service and I asked them also to look at compensating me for the trouble I had been put to trying to find the cause which they continually treated as a "wireless connection fault".
They said they couldn't deal with that so they transferred me to the "Customer Service" department who then proceeded to ask me to phone back in few days, when the fault might be cleared.  I was at a complete loss as to what they were talking about, so just gave up.  Later I made a complaint about the Open Reach engineer and the loss of my time, on the BT website complaints form and yesterday I got an answer back saying that it sounded like a wireless fault and I should refer to their self help guide on the web.  This despite me telling them that the fault had been an exchange fault and nothing to do with wireless and had been working satisfactorily for the last two years.  Does'nt anybody at BT support listen to or read complaints properly? I have replied to that email accordingly, but I am now at my wits end because today the connection speed has been bouncing about from less than 1Mb up to a maximum of 4Mb again and I just don't know what to do.
Is there anybody at BT who is prepared to take ownership of this problem and actually resolve it?  I heard on the news that BT's sales were down 4%.  Mr BT Chairman, have you thought that it might be something to do with the level of service you are providing to your customers?  I for one will be considering very carefully whether I renew my contract with you.  Any commecnts or suggestions would be very gratelfully received.  Paul Burton

  • Desperately Need Help. At my Wits End

Ok Here is the issue. I live in a house with my GF and 3 roommates. I have an elaborate home network setup with 4 wireless laptops and 4 Desktops hardwired in. I am having an issue where it is dropping my connection to everything every hour if I am not playing a game and every 20 minutes If I am playing a game. Here is how it is set up
Cable Modem - Router (Router Goes to)
My Bedroom 8 Port Hub (Hub Goes to)
    My Desktop
    Wired Laptop
    Radio Server
    My Roommates Laptop
My Other Two Roommates Bedroom (Goes to Wireless Router set to Gateway - Connects...)
    2 Desktops
    1 Lapto
    Network Printer
    The Hardware...
Cable Modem - Motorola Standard Comcast Cable
Router from Modem - Linksys WRT54G V6.0 With Cisco Security
8 Port hub - Linksys 8 port Network Switch
    Second Router/Gateway - Linksys/D-Link I can't remember
    Network Printer - OkiPage 24DX/NX
    Laptops:
    Dell Latitude D620
    Dell Latitude D600
    Apple Powerbook
    Desktops
    My Custom Rig for Pwn
    HP Pavilion 1915 (Roommates)
    HP Pavilion 1915 (Radio Server)
    Apple G3/G4 Desktop (Maybe 2)
Now Here is the issue. My laptop is connected wirelessly to my base router from the cable modem. The router is directly below me in the basement and I am on the second floor of the condo. My Desktop is connected by a network wire run through the house to the second floor from the same router. At any point while play in a game the connection will either lag or stop; DoD:s will freeze like I am having a connection error, vent will either dissconnect or lagg to hell and Everything has even disconnected for about 3 seconds so i lose connection to everything. If i am not play a game it will lose connection every hour or so along with my laptop. Xfire, vent will disconnect for about 3 second and reconnect. The router is brand new and it has been happening with the old router too. NOw this has become a major issue because I can't play DoD well because **bleep** keeps disconnecting and I can't paly anything. I can't talk on vent or even download cause **bleep** keeps disconnecting.
Steps to trouble shoot so far:
Comcast has come out to check the modem wires and connection to house. All Normal
    New Router Implemented
New wire from modem to router installed
    Updated router firmware
    Changed MTU
    Changed Network Wires Everywhere
I am totally out of Ideas. I have an 8MB download and a 768 UP. I have done a check with Comcast and They show me using about nothing of that speed at anytime to prove I am not going over speed.
Does anyone have an Idea or can help me figure this out because that would be most help full. Thanks
Can anyone help me please I am at my wits end. Connection drops for everything, Ventrilo, Xfire, All Instant Messengers, Lags all my games, and makes it hard to hear my online team. Can anyone help me I am at my wits end with this problem and it has been happenning for about a month and a half now and I am really pissed off. Thanks.

The next step is to do my #3 suggestion.
You have to eliminate the possibility that the problem is local to your network and by performing #3 you can do that.
The next thing to do is while the problem is occurring, do a traceroute to some destination on the Internet. If your desktop is using Windows do the following:
    tracert www.google.ca
The first hop in your listing will be your WRT router.
The 2nd hop will be the 1st router within your ISP's network.
If you do not get a response from the first hop, the problem is local to your network.
If you don't get a response from the 2nd hop the problem could be that your router has lost connectivity to your ISP or that it's routing table is fouled up.
If the 1st hop is reachable, you should log into your router and check the router to see if it has an IP address that would have been acquired from your ISP. The WRT is, by default, configured to acquire an IP automatically using something called DHCP. You can check the current IP by looking at "Status" after logging into the router.
If the router has an IP address you could try tracerouting from the router itself, but if the traceroute failed from your desktop it will likely fail from the router.
By the way when this problem occurs how long do you have to wait for connectivity to return?
Does connectivity return by itself or do you have to do anything (i.e., is a router reboot required) to restore connectivity?
If the traceroute from your desktop gets past hop 2, the problem is further out on the Internet. This will require further investigation.

  • Moving home

Hi everyone. Perhaps a member can advise me about this.
I contacted BT about a month ago and advised them that I was moving home and would like to take my infinity and youview with me.
They checked the available line speed for me and advised that the best I could hope for was 1 mb. The exchange near my new property will not be upgraded for 18 months.
I told the operator that there was little point installing broadband at that available speed and we agreed that the contract should end at no charge because bt could not provide the service.
The advisor told me that I could keep the youview box.
That was about a month ago. Yesterday I called to say we had exchanged contracts on the new house and we would be moving at the end of the month. The contract has been cancelled from the end of the month. But the new advisor says I must return the youview box?
I have many hours of programs recorded to the box so do not really want to return it. Plus as soon as infinity is available in my area I fully intend to have it installed.
I would be much happier if I could keep this box and not have to pay again in 18 months.
Does anyone know if I can keep this recorder. I am sure when I signed up they said the box was mine. I am only however 6 months into the contract.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I agree with Zulu as you only six months into a contract then you are indeed liable to return the box as the representative said. However I'll ask a Mod to see what can be done.

  • Online moving home setup

Hi all, I am an existing broadband/tv customer and am trying to move my services to a new address via the online moving home part of the website. Everything was going well until it asks me to decide on my directory be it ex-directory or via the phonebook. No matter which option I choose it states I have not picked a valid option and wont let me progress beyond this page. I have tried keeping my original number and changing to a new one but still the same problem. I see other people have had the same problem and have fixed it but it doesnt say how?! Thanks in advance, Nathan

    Hi stickthin2k,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the community forum!
Sorry for the problems you were having arranging to move your services to your new address on our website.  Did you manage to get everything put through in the end?
If not, post back and I'll give you a hand from here.

  • Exasperated moving home with BT

Moving home with BT has turned from being easy to being a totally destructive experience and one that looks like it will cost me a fortune.
Having given 5 weeks notice BT decided to text me 3 days before the move cancelling my home move, new number, call forwarding .. everything. Explanation?.. sky (the provider at the house I am going to) have not cancelled the line.
I spent 4 hrs on the phone to BT and they advised that as sky had not canceled the line thewy had to cancel, nothing they could do and even though I was moving in 3 days (2 now) my phone / BB, the lot was all cancelled and I would have to "call them when I got to the new house and start it all again"... didnt care that I work from home, as a Web Designer !!!
Sky were advised over 2 weeks ago but BT refused to call sky so I did... they said that it was their policy to not cancel a line till the day of the move and BT knew this.... not according to anyone at BT !!... so it seems that I am the first person to ever move with a BT line to a house currently with a phone from SKY... all at BT accept this is not possible but noone can explain why as they havnt heard of this before... still, no matter, its my problem and "call us when you move and we will see what we can do... or you can go online and book"... what with I asked?... you are cutting me off "oh yes, well call us from your mobile then !!"
Ok, well I cant believe that I should be treated like this... 25 years with BT and they are screwing up not only my house move but my business too all because they cant be bothered to do anything that may or may not help.
So, below is the copy of the email I sent earlier today to Sir Michael Rake (BT Chairman)... I will be interested to see if I get a reply as although now I accept that BT are going to hurt me (oh and they wont even let me go to SKY without charging 12 months) I DO want to know or at least be reassured that I am not being "turned over" by the people at the call centres.
Can anyone help... email content to follow below...
    Dear Sir Michael,
I have been a customer of BT for over 20 years but I felt I
had to let you know about the total shambles that BT are creating regarding my
home move. I will reduce the details down vastly so as not to take up too much
of your time but suffice to say I was on the phone for 4.5hrs yesterday to BT
    in total.
    1)      I
booked a home move weeks ago, all was fine a provisional new number was given
and although I could not have BT infinity at the new address I was offered the
    best other package available.
    2)      I
am moving on 22nd Sept (2 days)
    3)      I
received a text message yesterday saying “your order has been cancelled”. I
received this while I was out so went straight home and called BT.
    4)      I
was advised by home move dept that my telephone, broadband, new number and
installation had all been cancelled since the phone line I was moving to had
not been cancelled. I was told to get the phone line at the other end cancelled
    and reorder.
    5)      I
spoke to the estate agents and then the sellers who advised that they has
advised sky 10 days ago that they were moving
    6)      I
called BT and told them... “no its not cancelled on our system can’t help you”
I was told. We cant reopen the order so you will have to start it all again.
    7)      I
called SKY myself to be told that although they were different from everyone
else they as a company don’t cancel lines until the move date as if they did it
would screw up their own systems so they would not be cancelling till 22nd
and this was well known by BT.
    8)      Called
BT back, no, not heard that before and nothing they could do.
    9)      Can
I move from BT I asked?... you will be charged 12 months as you are signed up
    till Sept 2012.
    10)   I
said I couldn’t believe I was the first BT customer ever to move to a house
which currently has sky. Everyone agreed that this couldn’t be the case but
    offered no other explanation.
    11)   I
called and asked for customer relations department... “we don’t have one” I was
advised, each department looks after their own complaints. I was however put
through to an Indian guy (sorry didn’t get his name) who said he wold take
ownership and get everything sorted for me over night and would call me 10-12am
    today.
    12)   He
called as promised at 11am and said he would put me through to home move. After
explaining the situation AGAIN they said that if they put an order in today it
would be 11 working days and would likely get cancelled anyway. They said “best
thing to do is ring us when you get to the new property on your mobile and we
can do a new order on Thursday... if the line is cancelled). Again they offered
no explanation and agreed that I could not be the first person to move to a
    house with a sky line.
    13)   I
work from home as a web designer so you can imagine that internet connection is
    quite important.
    14)   Yesterday
the only bit of hope I was offered was by a lady who agreed it was a mess and
gave me a free 30 day hot spot access (as my existing phone will be cancelled
on Thursday I wouldn’t be able to use this currently free service) but at least
I have this access as long as I can find a hot spot where I am moving to.
    15)   I
am afraid by now BT had worn me out and I accept that I will have to go without
a phone and my businesses will have to stop for as long as BT choose to keep me
offline. However what I cant accept is that I am the first person to move to a
house where there is currently a sky connection... I just cant be the first
person and if I am not then this surely must have happened (or not) before or
BT must have a policy for this.
    16)   30
mins ago I rang and asked where would I go to if I wanted to escalate a
complaint. I was told to hold as again “we don’t have a complaints or customer
relations department”. I was then told that a Manager called Louise Jones would
look into my question and call me within 48 hrs... not a fat lot of good as I
am moving before then ... but I gave my mobile number for her to call anyway. I
was not offered anything else and to be honest feel like I have been kicked
    down the lane till Thursday.
I can see now that I will end up in Market Rasen (where I am
moving to) on Thursday, no phone, no internet, no contract and even my call
forwarding service which I have paid for wont work as there is no number for it
to go to... so no one will be able to call me and my clients will be less than
    impressed.
After giving so much notice (at least 5 weeks) to then be
cancelled just 3 days before a move with a totally implausible explanation (as
I just can’t be the first) I’m sure you will agree appears just a bit harsh. I
know as a residential customer I am not that important but this could and
possibly will impact a great deal on my business and income and no one at BT
    appears to care at all.
I accept that I am pretty stuffed but while I know that I am
going to suffer I really do want to know if I am the very first person who has
ever moved to a house where sky provides service and if not then is this what
    happens to everyone?
    For your information I am:
    (removed)
I appreciate your time and just hope you can at least get
someone to answer what would seem to be a reasonably easy question that will at
least reassure me that I am not being badly treated.
    Best wishes
    Dominic

  • Moved home. New line constant engaged tone and can...

I moved home last Monday and organised a BT phone line move from my old property to the new one a few weeks prior. I said I did not mind if the phone number changes as I don't use the phone line for calling anyway. I only have it for the sake of broadband.
So I was told by BT the phone line at my new property should be ready last Friday. Well I tried plugging my phone into the phone socket and all I get is the sound of a constant engaged tone. I cannot make any calls from this. I tried dialling numbers but the engaged tone persists, as if nothing has changed at all.
I even unscrewed the BT socket panel to connect my phone to the main test socket and still, the same persistent engaged tone. No different than before.
Called BT about this and they did a line test and said they could not detect a problem with the line from their end. They said they could send an engineer out but kept giving me a warning that if they send an engineer down here it will cost me £129.99 if it is not BT's fault. They said it could be fallen trees on my end or whatever, and in that case I would be charged. I really don't think it could be fallen trees as I live near the city centre in a mid terrace Victorian house with paved backyard and all my neighbours too have paved yards. There is not a single tree around here growing in anybody's yard.
Anyway I decided I'd rather have an engineer see to this than be forced to pay the monthly £29 ish charge to BT for a broadband service I cannot use because of the line being the way it is. So booked an engineer to come yesterday. They said he'd come between 1 - 6 pm. And they kept telling me NOT to call them again regarding this issue. Well the engineer never showed up. At about 5 pm BT called me to say there is a problem with the booking system and said they will rebook another engineer appointment for me today. Said the engineer will come between 8 am  - 1 pm. And once again she finished off by telling me NOT to call BT back about this. Well it's past 11 am now and still no sign of any engineer.
Not very happy about this... Sigh.
Does anyone know what could be going on with my phone line?

I would imagine its probably an exchange configuration fault, which should not require a visit. Its quite normal for the Field Technician to visit the excahnge first, and test on the frame.
You may find that the fault will be cleared within a few hours, once the equipment is sorted.

So, I have just about had it. For nine days now,  I have valiantly tried to move my library to an external drive. At first, I attempted to move it to my 2TB Time capsule. iTunes didn't like its new home though and moved home without telling me. So then there were two libraries. I meshed them back together reluctantly and iTunes in a silent revolt, absolutely refused to use its own 'Keep Library Organized' criteria and may as well have thrown my music against the wall. Seriously, my 5 year old nephew has his computer files better managed. Then I bought a 3TB Time Capsule and you may ask yourself why??? Well, iTunes doubled in size- although when I ran apps that are designed to find duplicate iTunes files, it deleted the music I actually bought from iTunes. So then I watched as iTunes got it back. How you ask; I run a MacBook Air, iMac and Mac mini in my house - as soon as one powered up it hit the net like a sailor on leave and re-downloaded it all without abandon. I tried to keep the libraries separate, no success there. I tried to keep them unified; iTunes response was to ask me if I wanted to join iTunes Match every time I logged on to my computer and on any computer - my iTunes match song number has been as high as 24,367 and as low as 11,112. And I can't simply refuse iTunes. No one refuses iTunes. Refusal to allow iTunes Match to run through all 24000 songs again was to revoke my rights to the songs that were once part of my library. If I took a long time to decide or was visibly impatient while iTunes did its little 3 hour scan it would arbitrarily decide that music I bought from iTunes was ineligible for iTunes Match. How could that possibly be??? I am missing music, or at least iTunes tells me so by showing me that lovely exclamation point. I have tried backing up my computer to do a full system restore and start all over. Time Capsule claims I have 979 GB of data and takes its sweet time to even back up one gig (about 18 minutes) even though I can transfer files to my Time Capsule at about 1 GB every 40 seconds. I guess though performing back-ups are somewhat like government jobs; it will get done, when it gets done. The back up requirement of 979 GB is surprising though, my Mac claims that I currently occupy just about 25% of my 2TB drive. The discrepancy, who knows, but I think the solution lies somewhere in iTunes. But maybe iPhoto. But that is for another time.

After admittedly only a quick read the one thing you don't say is how you are trying to make this move.  Most people with moving library issues do it the wrong way.  Plenty of web sites tell you how to do it the wrong way.
If the iTunes application is started before the drive with the library is fully mounted and awake iTunes will revert back to the internal drive.

  • Please help, im at my wits end!!

    Hi All,
Ive had my Ipod Video 30G since Xmas, and ive never had any problems with it. I used to use my boyfriends laptop but ive recently bought a new macbook.
I transferred all of my songs over, and contacted apple so i could download my already purchased videos onto my new mac.
I did this and all of them downloaded fine - however, the videos will not sync to my ipod. Everything else works fine (songs both purchased and imported from my cd collection).
Whenever i try to sync my ipod i get this message: "some of the videos in your itunes library, including XXX were not copied to the ipod XXX beacuse they cannot be played on this ipod".
Now this has NEVER been a problem before, and at first i thought that maybe itunes wasnt recognising my ipod as a video one, which it is. However when i clicked into the individual file problems it said, "XXX was not copid becuase the video format is not supported by XXX ipod"
So, the plot thickens....i guess this is because of the format of the file.
So, i spend 50 mins on the phone with apple support, they say there is nothing wrong with either my mac nor ipod, it is an itunes issue.
So i email itunes, SEVERAL TIMES, for them to tell me to do the following:
1: the 5 R's, restart, restore blah blah
2: Deauthorise and Re-authorise my itunes store with my mac
    3: Reinstall Itunes
All of which i have done. The problem remains...
So i scower the internet for the solution, someone tells me to choose the "convert selection to ipod" option. This doesnt work an brings up an error -50 message.
Someone tells me to trash the apple.itunes.com option in itunes documents, this doesnt work either!
So, now i dont know what else to do, apple have emailled me and told me that they havnt a clue, but will "get back to me" GREAT EH?
Now, since the newer version of itunes was installed today, now i can play the videos on itunes or through quicktime, but I STILL CANT PUT THE VIDEOS ON MY IPOD.
Please someone help, im at my wits end and im about ready to throw all my apple items in the bin.

is this a witch hunt? I just need some help and didnt know whether to put this post in the ipod or the itunes section, and when i tried to send them my computer froze and ended up adding the post a few times. If i could delete them i would all but one.
Youd think i had broken a law with all the comments im getting!
    All I need is help.
    thanks

  • At my wits end with this horrible company

I am beyond frustrated with the lack of service with Verizon and the way I have been treated.  I ordered a phone and tablet om-line to start new service with Verizon back in December, the following day I found a better deal elsewhere so I called to cancel the order I had placed.  I was assured by the rep on the phone that this order would be cancelled and it was, I verified with Fedex that they routed the order directly back to the warehouse and it was received and signed for at the warehouse 2 days later.  I have received bills each month since for service on this phone line that I cancelled and have called 10 times in the past 3 months and was assured time and time again that this will be "cleared" it just takes up to 3 billing cycles to clear?!  What?!  That is insanity.  Why on earth would it take 3 months of billing to reflect a cancelled line of service?  At least half of those calls I was treated absolutely horrendously by the reps who refused to give their names or allow me to speak with a manager or supervisor.  The last time I called I was assured the credit would be posted by the manager that day.  Well this is now the end of March and today I got an email from CBE collections for a bill of $622 for the equipment and months of service that I never received as my order was cancelled.  I have now tried calling CBE 5 times, the first 2 calls I was hung up on after saying hello then received a message stating to call back later on the last 3 tries.  HELP!!!!  I am at my wits end on how I can resolve this, can anyone offer any advice for how to resolve this?   I am screaming from the rooftops how awful this company is.

    Lasina,
Thank you for the response, however I feel as though you did not read my complaint.  The phone was ordered Nov 30, 2014 and the order cancelled the following day Dec 1, 2014, the equipment was routed back to the warehouse directly from FedEx and was signed for in the Verizon warehouse in Ft. Worth, TX at 8:52 am on 12/4/2014 by a C. Champion (FedEx tracking# removed).  This is now March 31, 2015, it has been almost 4 months since the return was received and I am now in collections with Verizon for $622.54.  I have called and called and called and continue to get the runaround, different responses every time I call and assurances that it will be taken care of only to get another bill or new collection notice.  Every time I call the reps can clearly see the return was received.  Is this a scam to get money from would be customers?  Please help me resolve this.  I have in the meantime filed complaints against your company with the FCC and BBB.  I look forward to hearing from you.
    Thanks.

  • How do I prove that I have never once changed my screen on my iPhone 5 since I upgraded in August. I am at my wits end. I work for o2 and I can promise I have never changed the screen. I got this phone in a sealed box and been down 3 times to Apple Store

I am furious about this. 3 visits to Aberdeen Union Square to be told the screen on my phone is not apple merchandise. How can this be when I got the phone from o2 (my work) in a sealed box. I have never once sent the phone away to be repaired or made an insurance claim?
The problem is my screen is becoming unresponsive. Sometimes does not work.
I have restored my phone as told by Apple Technical ( may I add this gentleman was very helpful)
I am basically sick of being called a liar by apple. I can swear this phone has never been tampered with except at The Apple store. I always have recommended Apple phones when doing my job as a sales advisor. I am at my wits end. I will not give up on this.

I have heard of this possibly happening after insurance claims but nothing coming from a sealed box. I'm so frustrated by this as my touch screen doesn't work sometimes and this is causing big problems trying to answer calls. I have only had the phone since August. I set the phone up myself from the sealed box and its never been away from me, never have I had to send the phone away for repair or insurance claim.
Feel like I've got a faulty phone and no one will help me...I trully believe all my phone is all Apple and always has been. I wish I could get photo evidence of inside the phone so i could see for myself.
Its a very expensive phone which is driving me crazy.

  • Bluetooth not available - at my wits end.

Hello Apple community, this is my first post.
Problem:  Bluetooth not available - i think it started after installing Lion, intermittent on and off for about 12 months, gave up about 6 months ago until now.
System:   Macbook 13.3 mid 2010 OSX Lion 10.7.5
    Tried:       PRAM Reset
                   SMC Reset
                   Removed apple.com.bluetooth.plists
                   All devices disconnected
                   All wireless disabled
                   Auto login
Hold power button until led flashed
Full shutdown - overnight even disconnected the battery, on startup bluetooth worked, but the batteries in the mouse went flat (6 months old lol) then no bluetooth after installing new batteries.
Too scared to try a complete wipe and reinstall, i can't backup with time machine until i get a large external drive 1tb+
Please help i am my wits end trying to get this working,
    thankyou for looking

    Hello:

  • OK...I am at my wits' end here!

    Hello all,
I just received my iPod shuffle in the mail today (it was ordered on eBay from Circuit City, a major retail electronics chain in the US). It was sold in excellent working condition, according to Circuit City (I have dealt with them before).
Now, When I plug my shuffle into the computer, the amber light blinks steadily. BUT! The Shuffle does NOT appear in iTunes (I am using 6.0.1 or whatever the newest version is, and when I click preferences->iPod, it says "No iPod connected), and it does not show up as a disk in My computer. As a matter of fact, when I open the "Safely remove hardware" dialog, nothing shows up! According to documentation, the amber light blinking means "Do not disconnect", but according to my computer, it's not connected at all! I have tried restoring it, but the iPod updater (1.1.3) won't recognize the shuffle; and from what I have read about the new update, I am mighty reluctant to download and update the shuffle with this new software (after reading the horror stories about it).
PLEASE, I am at my wits' end! I desperately want to be able to love my shuffle, but it is being an impossible &#$%@ right now! Unfortunately, I don't think Apple will repair it under warranty because I bought it used from Circuit City (it was not in the original packaging...sigh)...and it's not the first problem I've had with an iPod product (my 4g 20GB's click wheel died on me, and I can't afford $249 to replace it). Alas, I think this may be the last Apple product I'll ever buy...
I do apologize for the length of this rant, but I really really need help! Thank you all in advance...

    Sir L,
Might be worth having a look through all the comments at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=264297&tstart=0 since I (and a lot of others) are having the same problem.
Keep in touch and maybe we'll get a solution
