Moving host to business catalyst

Hi,
Let me start by saying that I'm an old (and therefore print) designer, just getting into web design, thanks to Muse.
I have created sites for friends when they have just bought their domains, changed the name servers and everything works. This time, I want to change hosts - from my previous host to BC. Not so easy. Hoping I've just missed something...
Firstly, I couldn't change my name servers myself, so I have asked my old hosts to do it for me. When I made my test site live, the name servers BC gave me ( in a little pop-up box) were the same as I have used before, (ns1.worldsecuresystems.com etc.) but they had numbers after them. Is this correct? They say its working fine, but It's still the same old site, not the one I did on Muse.
Secondly, I can't get my emails to work. I want to use the same emails I used with my old hosts, but it won't let me add my email address. Perhaps this is because it is the one I used to join Adobe and BC? And because I am no longer hosting with my old hosts, other email addresses associated with my domain don't work, so I can't answer any invitations!
Is there other stuff I have to put in? Records etc.?

I have been in contact with my old hosts and they assure me that my website has been pointed in the right direction and that it just may take some time for my ISP's cache to detect the DNS change. Not sure how long 'some time' is but it's been well over 24 hours.
At this point, when I browse for my site, it's still coming up with the old site, the with my old hosts, not the one I launched through Muse to BC. I have tried refreshing my browser. When I try to manage my site, I get the following message:
Not Found
The requested URL /Admin/Index2.aspx was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
As far as emails go, I have subscribed to a WebBasics+ site, so I have 10 emails included. I have been able to invite some of my email addresses (with my [email protected]) but when they click on the link, they get an error. It won't let me have my existing email address, not sure why. Perhaps this will all change when BCs ISP cache catches up?
I'll watch the vids and see if they can help.

You can use their BC login details and use them , which on publish the site will be under their account.
Please change the BC login from Edit > Preferences > Publish > Switch Accounts , for Mac it would Adobe Muse > Preferences

I am new to Muse and love it! Not sure if the hosting site matters one way or the other.

Liam has some great points. Some other things to consider is that google (just talking one search engine at the moment) more than likely know what a BC site looks like and is made of and would know the best ways to index it assuming you use some of the features of BC and not just straight up HTML.
Godaddy is straight up HTML so as far as indexing goes I think BC has an advantage as it is a known system much like wordpress.
As far as IP blocks, bad neighbours, etc only google will know that information and it's not easy to say which is better.
For example if someone on BC spam's there website everywhere or engages in dodgy SEO practises, spambots etc. Their site is going to be pushed down, if you happen to be on the same IP or close to that site you will be in a "bad neighbourhood" and it may affect your site in the short term. This is the case for ANY hosting solution, so take it all with a gain of salt.

Leopard (10.5) is not available as a download or as a disk purchase from Apple. You may find copies on e-bay for sale.
If your iMac can accept Snow Leopard (10.6), a disk can be purchased from the Apple online store.

Muse not generating sitemap when hosted on Business Catalyst

One of my Muse sites, hosted on Business Catalyst, does not have a sitemap. My understanding was that these are generated automatically. How can I fix this problem? The site is http://www.drummingpatterns.com.

Does UK hosting with Business Catalyst include VAT? Can it be paid for per year?

I have been using Adobe Muse for about a year - LOVE IT! I'm starting to get professional business's as clients who obviously want quotes for their websites and hosting. I would like to stick with Business Catalyst for hosting...their online help support (chat) is just fantastic.
Anyhoo, there is no effective price structure for this. It is all in US Dollas which is taking me a bloomin decade to convert. And, do the prices include VAT? It doesn't say anywhere. Can the plans be paid for annualy? It seems very unhelpful on the Adobe website.
Also, please tell me if I am misunderstanding...Adobe can bill the clients for the hosting. Which is great. But obviously I am a business and put my percentage on top. So how would that work?
Its a long ol' curve to learning something 100%..any help or advice here would be much appeciated. Thanks.

There's two billing frequency options (monthly or annually). Furthermore if needing more assistance with account related questions I would recommend reaching out to the account team to help answer all your remaining questions to be 100% certain before moving forward.

Refunding hosting on Business Catalyst

I have a new client for whom I am building a site in Dreamweaver. A week ago, she had another designer who was going to build her site but due to time issues, they have decided to not work together. The other designer suggested BC for hosting, she accepted and he set her up as admin. When I took over the site, I moved her away from BC as she only needs a £30 hosting package elsewhere, and her site is not being built in BC now so £80 for a small business person is alot. The site was set up only on 27th May and so I would have hoped that she can get a refund of her hosting fees. The nameservers are no longer pointing to BC since 2 days ago, therefore the total time was around 7 days. I have read your FAQs on the BC site relating to Partners (I am not a Partner, the former designer is), and it does say that you can't get a refund on a paid site. Surely, as this is such a very short period of time, you would be able to make a concession and refund the partner who can then refund the client. Please can you advise?

My client has a website / URL in use. I have designed a new website using adobe Muse that will replace their existing website, and I would like to use business catalyst to host the new site. What do I need to do to transfer the URL to business catalyst, and post the new site live?

How can I run Google Analytics on my site being hosted in Business Catalyst?

Hi,
I already have an existing website which is hosted, and of course I am the domain owner.
I have created a new modified site in Adobe Muse CC and will wish to upload this new site to my domain once completed.
I will need to run Google Webmaster tools etc before I replace the old site.
I do not wish to replace the old site as yet prior to completing the new site in Muse CC
At present I am "subscribed" to Google Analytics/Webmaster tools as a webmaster under my webmaster site (different) and have placed the "google verification code" metatag in my new site's "page properties <head></head tags only", and have uploaded to Business Catalyst.
Business Catalyst are not my hosts for this site once it becomes "live". They are my "Trial Hosts"
? how can I run google analytics and tools for this new site prior to lauch (ie replacing my old site) ?

I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. First the information has to be entered on the home page. So the path is Home page> Page properties> Metadata> HTML for <head>. Secondly I was entering the information from the downloaded html file rather than the code they provide under the alternate methods tab during the verification process . Website Hosting with Business Catalyst

hello,
I recently discovered the existence of Business Catalyst and I read that this solution was passing by and dedicated hosting provided by Adobe (MyDomainName / businesscatalyst.com). I wanted to know if it is possible to work with this solution on specific servers (shared or dedicated)?
In fact, is it possible to design and manage BC sites hosted on their own space hérgement (mydomainname.com)?

I understand you can not host a website made with BC on a server other than Adobe. I think it is a weakness because customers like to know exactly where their site is located. In addition, Adobe is not really recognized in France as host ... not to mention SEO (French website + hoster French = best SEO). It's a pity because I think BC really promising ... However, I will like you've shown me look at the different documentation.

Can't use Hosting and Business Catalyst

I have full CC-Membership, but can't use Hosting and BC.
Following messages appearing on my CC-Account:
On the apps-Page:
"Full Creative Cloud Membership comes with hosting for up to 5 sites. View and manage these sites from the sidebar on the Creative Cloud home page."
On the sidebar

Same. This had me perplexed too for a while. And the 'help' pages aren't particularly 'helpful', so I did little poking around in the apps themselves.
As it turns out, if you open up Dreamweaver and go to the 'Site' menu, there's an option to create a Business Catalyst test site from there (Dreamweaver helpfully crashed for me while doing this, but upon reopening it was all working). You pick a site name and subdomain, assign a local folder, it asks for your CC/Adobe credentials (because it would make too much sense to just sign in automatically) and you should be good to go.
After doing this and uploading a dummy test page, when I reloaded the Creative Cloud homepage it was now listing my test site undeneath the aforementioned confusing text in the sidebar.

its prob a stupid question ..but if make a website with business catalyst and for some reason I don't renew my cc subsciption where does that leave me with editing and updating the site..

BC site subscription depends on your CC subscription, If CC subscription is not renewed then web hosting site will not be renewed thus will convert to a trial site.
Same with Muse subscription , you can still edit and update your site with trial version, but please note that trial version has a limited time of 30 days.

How do I switch web hosting to Business Catalyst?

I have 2 websites hosted outside BC. As a Creative Cloud member I understand I get to host up to 5 sites for free on BC. Is that the case? If it is, how do I go about switching the hosting from my current web hoster to BC? I'm pretty new to all this.

The five free sites you get with your Cloud subscription are 5 very basic Business Catalyst plans. Unless your sites are just plain html and CSS it won't work on Business Catalyst servers.

File storage limits for a web site hosted on Business Catalyst

Hi,
I have three sites currently hosted by other web hosting companies. Each site uses a lot of video files so the site folder size for each site is approximately 10 GB. What business catalyst plan would I need to host three sites each of approximately 10 GB each. Also, I am getting ready to transition to HTML5 video which will mean adding additional video files. Is Business Catalyst capable of handling and presenting video files?

If you are uploading alot of video it maybe better to 'add in' a seperate system eg viddler. This can link nicely to BC and is better suited to video.
