I'm trying to transfer all my i-tunes songs into windows media player. Is there any way to do this?

You need to add the files to iTunes before they can be transferred to the iPod. WMA files are not compatable with iTunes or the iPod. However, iTunes can convert them to a format that is compatable.
To do this:
Open iTunes.
First go to the edit menu, select preferences, click the advanced tab, and select importing. For best song capacity on the ipod, make sure that the encoder is set to "Import using AAC encoder", and "High quality 128 kbps". Hit OK.
Then go to file menu, go to "add file to library" or if its a whole folder go to "add folder to library". Go through your computer folders to find the WMA songs (usually in "My Music" )
Select the song or songs you want to add, then hit open. To select more than one song from a folder, click the first one, hold shift, then click the last song you want to select.
A box will come up saying "one or more of the files you are adding are in WMA format",click ok and itunes will convert them into AAC format that is compatible with iTunes and iPod. (this could take a while if you have a number of songs).
It should be noted that this will only work with unprotected WMA files, not ones bought off of the windows media store or imported to windows media with protection. For protected WMA files, you will need to burn them onto a CD then import this CD into iTunes.
Now the files are in your iTunes library, you can put them onto the iPod.
Post back if you need help putting them onto the iPod.
Hope this helps

Restore them from the recycle bin if they are there, or your backup, or find an unerase or file recovery tool, or see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if you have one.

  • Transferring songs from Windows Media Player and others to iTunes

    G'day folks,
First of all - great stuff this forum! Had some issues with my new Mini but finally got it up and running thanks to the Q&A's here. One thing I couldn't find though, and that's how to transfer songs from my media player to iTunes.
Here's the thing: First time I installed iTunes, it automatically started importing songs from Windows Media player (harddisk?) to iTunes - happy days! It all went sort of slow though and at one point I had to leave the house so I switched off the comp, assuming it'd get on with it again next time.
However, it didn't. Now I've been trying over and over but I cannot manage to get more songs imported into iTunes. Any suggestions?
Also (minor problem), in iTunes I can see a LimeWire directory, with all the songs in there I downloaded ages ago through LimeWire (sorry, I know it's wrong, shame on me, this was before my iPod era). I can play these songs in iTunes, but not send them to my Mini. Any ideas or is this impossible?
Thanks a million for helping out!

iTunes will convert WMA files as long as they are not protected. See this.
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format.
You'll end up with a set of duplicates so you can delete the WMA files if you no longer want them.

  • Converted songs from Windows Media Player to itunes show up in the library but will not play

I just installed itunes for the purpose of converting my Windows Media Player library to itunes.  I went through the install and added the music folder.  itunes went through the conversion process overnight and all of my songs appear in the music library.  However some songs will play properly and if you open them in windows explorer they are in a folder called my music/downloads and are mpeg files.  Other songs that are listed in the music library and appear to have been converted will not play.  When you click on these songs that won't play it appears to be playing in the progress bar on top, but no sound comes out and the EQ visualizer shows nothing.  When you open these songs in Windows explorer they are located in a folder: my music\i tunes\itunes media\music and they are a .AAC audio file type. What went wromg in this conversion process? Why is itunes putting these files in two different locations?  Why will these files not fully convert and play?

This is also what I suspected but why would the songs go through conversion, show up in the library, and then not play?  Apple support even says "itunes for Windows cannot import or play WMA files that are protectd."  Yet the imported song is sitting in the library and when you play it the song is listed and the diamond advances - but no sound.
Also, any tips on how to see if a WMA file is protected by DRM?
    Thank you for your response.

  • Using I-Tune purchases in Window Media Player

I use Windows Media Player the central location for maitaining my music library. None of my purchases from ITunes end up in WMP, and when I try to open them with WMP, I get an incompatable file message. I am also at a loss when it comes to loading Itune purchases into my MP3 player, which Itunes seems not to recognize

Versions of Windows (and WMP) prior to Windows7 and WMP12 do not as standard support playing AAC format files, which is the format that Apple sell tracks in from the iTunes Store.
Windows7 and WMP12 do support playing AAC files as standard.
It is possible to install free plugins and codecs for use with Windows XP, and Vista and WMP 9, 10 and 11, so they also can play AAC files (and Apple Lossless). See my article on this page http://thewelltemperedcomputer.com/SW/WMP/FileFormat.htm this allows WMP to fully support .m4a files including reading the meta-tags and putting them in the correct music section of the WMP library.
Note: The above only applies to .m4a AAC files, also known as "iTunes Plus" format tracks. If you have older tracks purchased from the iTunes Store, they may have the .m4p files extension which means they are protected using Apple's "FairPlay" DRM and cannot be played in any version of WMP.
Once you have successfully got your iTunes tracks in WMP, they will also work in Microsoft Media Center.
As per my article on the above web-page, it is also possible to get WMP to play Apple Lossless files. For Windows7 however you need to disable the built-in AAC support first. The codec pack on this page, will let you disable the built-in AAC support, and also add a replacement codec which can play both AAC and Apple Lossless. See http://shark007.net/win7codecs.html
Note: Unfortunately, due to a typical Microsoft short-sightedness, even though WMP12 in Windows7 can now itself read the meta-tags in .m4a files, and does so successfully for AAC files, and even though the file format and tag format for Apple Lossless files is *100% identical*, and even though if you install the Shark007 codecs, you have installed an Apple Lossless compatible codec, WMP12 will refuse to let you add Apple Lossless files to music section of its library (they show up under "other" media, and do play).

  • Can listen to my songs in Windows Media Player. No audio with You Tube etc. (???)

Very frustrated. I have alot of good stuff i
n folders I can listen to in Windows Media Player. I can adjust my volume up & down etc. I
go to YouTube to watch and listen....NOTHING, no audio.
#1. I do have latest Flash Player installed
#2. I did uninstall and reinstall it.
#3. I have gone into START>MY COMPUTER and adjust volume settings etc.
#4. While a video plays in YouTube right-clicked and gone into Global Settings
and turned up volume there etc.
    Anything else I am missing?
    Thank you!

    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Video+or+audio+does+not+play
You can click the Volume icon on the Windows Taskbar near the clock and click the Mixer link at the bottom to open the mixer.<br />
You can adjust the volume level for each application in that window, so make sure that Firefox is not muted or set at a low level.<br />
Current Firefox versions use the plugin-container process to run plugins, so you need to check the volume setting for the plugin-container process.<br />
You will only see the Firefox program or the Plugin Container in the Mixer if you are on a website that plays sound.<br />

  • How can i download songs from windows media player?

How can i download music from windows media player to my iphone?

you first need to import the music to iTunes on your computer, then you can synch with your idevice.

  • I can play 1 or 2 mp3 songs with windows media player, but then all sound stops. no computer sounds

I haven't installed anything recently and for the first songs it plays perfectly.  I have very little experience with computer music files or mp3 players, so I may be missing something very basic

Which version of WMP? AAC support can probably be added by installing a codec.
The iTunes store no longer sells music with DRM but if you still have any it will continue to work. The problem with early versions of WMP was that by default it added DRM to personally ripped media but stored the decryption keys on the computer. It was easy enough to copy the media to a new computer but unlocking it was another story.

  • Songs are not showing up in my Windows Media Player Library

So the title says much of it, but I have music that I downloaded through the Itunes store that is not showing up for some reason in my WMP library. In fact, the vast majority of my songs do not show up in the library. I did not rip any of the songs, seeing
as I don't even know what ripping is or how to do it. I use Windows Media Player more extensively than Itunes, so it is really frustrating to not have most of my music useable.

    Hi,
Based on my research, if the extensions of the music are m4a, Windows Media Player cannot play them.

  • I can sync media files from Windows Media Player to my ipod, but the information will not show up on my ipod. Why?

I HATE using iTunes (it's a pain in the bleeping arse) so, despite what someone from Apple told me, I tried to sync a song from Windows Media Player onto my ipod. The sync appears to be successful, and yet when I ejected my ipod to check to see if the song was on there, it was not. Why? And how do I get it on there? I want to avoid using iTunes at all costs.

Try MediaMonkey or Winamp. Unlike Windows Media Player which will just blindly throw the files onto the iPod's hard drive these two at least (there may be others) know that they have to update the device's database if you are going to be able to access the content that has been added.

  • BB 8220 Pearl Flip drops WiFi calls when synch music with Windows Media Player

I noticed the 8220 crashes or drops calls if I synchronize a playlist of songs with Windows Media Player.  Strangely, if I simply shuffle the songs with no playlist, then I encounter less problems.  Is this because I don't have enough room on the media card after synchronization?  (I set a playlist and sychronize it as there are certain songs I do not wish to place on my phone.)
I'm using: Windows XP, Windows Media Player version 11, Blackberry Desktop Manager version 5.0.1.

I'll try to answer to some of your questions.
The Media Card is according to the OS verison on the BlackBerry. The model doesn't really matter.
Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.xxx".
    Maximum capacities:
BlackBerry Device Software Media Card Size Limit
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 -- Up to 2 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 -- Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 -- Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 -- Up to 8 GB

  • Windows Media Player cannot play the audio files

Hi, I have Toshiba laptop, it's my baby, and suddenly I cannot play any sounds! When I click to play a song on windows media player it says:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.
I have tried everything and I'm on my last nerve! Basically, I'm really rubbish with computers, I can't understand this at all, I've followed every path suggested by the 'help' section in my computer and I still can't listen to 'The Feeling!' Please help, I'm going mad here!

    Hello
I have had similar problem after usage of Windows Live messenger (talk option). The sound was suddenly gone without any reason. I have done follow steps:
    Close all running applications
Enter start control panel system hardware tab device manager and remove listed sound card
Start Add Hardware option in control panel.
The sound card should be detected and installed properly. After doing this try please to use Windows Media player again
    Good luck!

How to upload I tune music to windows media player?

There is nothing to transfer, and you don't need a CD.
Just find the files on your hard drive and play them, the same way you would play any other files in Windows Media Player.
If you hit a format problem, please post back.
