Moving images from Lightroom to Photoshop 2014 CC – Color Problems?

For some reason, whenever I select "Edit in Photoshop 2014 CC", the image color is not only extremely different from what's displayed in Lightroom, it's dark and dull. However, if I export the image as a .jpg and then import it into Photoshop 2014 CC the color looks the same as what's displayed in Lightroom and this is with NO color correction.
Why is this happening and how should I be moving files between the two apps? BTW, I shot the images with a Canon T3i that saves the image as a CR2 and JPG.
Thanks!

I'm running Lightroom and Photoshop CS3. "Edit image in Photoshop CS3" works fine for me. I'm on an iMac and had Lightroom installed first, only thing I noticed is it takes PS a little longer to open up.

Has anyone had difficulties opening up an image from Lightroom to Photoshop CC?

    Hi Tom,
Kind of you to reply. My 'titles' conform, as they always have done.  I've used a few versions of PSE over the years. Pics edited in an older version opened up no probs on ipad.
When I upgraded my camera a few years ago I had to upgrade PSE because the updated codec for shooting raw was not available for downloading to earlier versions of the programme.  The same occurred again with another camera upgrade, which is why I am using PSE12 now.

  • How do I export from Lightroom to Photoshop 2014 using 8-bit color?

In LR when I rt-click in the image area, a menu appears. I choose export and then Photoshop 2014.  I specify "edit with Lightroom adjustments.  When the image appears in Photoshop it indeed as the adjustments, but the color depth is always 32-bit. It's become bothersome to then down adjust the color depth to 8-bit color and I am wondering if there is a hidden export setting that will allow me to export the image as 8-bit.

You can set that in Lightroom preferences see the screen capture.

  • Problems with editing images from Lightroom to Photoshop CS3

I just installed Lightroom onto my new MacBook Pro and just installed a new version of Photoshop CS3. When I hit the "Edit image in Photoshop CS3" button in Lightroom it won't open Photoshop and therefore won't let me edit the image in CS3. Does anyone know what might be wrong? Any info would be helpful.

  • I am getting grain when importing images from Lightroom to Photoshop, what is causing this?? It has only just started happening!

Just recently I went about my usual workflow, doing everything in Lightroom I can and then completely the last touches in photoshop. Now especially if I sharpen in lightroom I am getting this horrible grain all over my photo when I open the exported lightroom image in Photoshop. It has nothing to do with zooming in on the image or anything.
Also, if I open the Lightroom exported image just as a photo and not in photoshop I do not see any of the grain that is appearing when I open it in Photoshop, what has happened here?

  • Raw files do not open from Lightroom into Photoshop 2014

I developed files in LR and trying to open them into PS 2014 CC, it launches the program but do not open. Any idea what to do?

    Hi,
This is a bug resulting from an uninstall of the previous Ps CC version (14.x). We are working on a fix for this currently.
If you would like to resolve this before we can post the fix, you need to uninstall Ps CC 2014 (15.0) [you don't have to remove preferences when asked], and then reinstall.
    Sorry for the hassle.

  • Difference in tones from Lightroom to Photoshop 2014

What I see in my develop module differs significantly then what is exported into PS 2014 for editing. I am using up to date CC software on the latest OS for Mac.

There is a known issue with Mavericks and LR vs PS since most of a year, now:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1365804?sr=stream&ru=85510
It is apparently an issue with Apple color-management that Apple has programmed around in their applications while Adobe has not, but perhaps Adobe is waiting for Apple to fix something instead of programming a workaround.

  • Photoshop cc 2014 will not open images from Lightroom

I have just upgraded Photoshop and Lightroom through the creative cloud, and now when i take an image from Lightroom to Photoshop,Photoshop opens but the image does not appear.I have Photoshop cc 2014 as the default editor.I am able to open the image in any of the plug ins i have installed e.g Topaz Labs.

This has been reported quite a lot lately.  SSprengel, have you actually seen an uninstall and reinstall correct the link between Lightroom and Photoshop CC (2014)?  If so, I'll start advising people to do so.  I hadn't run across anyone claiming to have discovered a solution to the problem yet.

Have you tried restoring the Preferences yet?

When I try to export an image from Lightroom to Photoshop (CC) Photoshop opens, but the image doesn't.

    Hi Ashley Clavette,
The Initial view setting works perfectly when the file is opened in Acrobat after setting the desired Initial View.
When you upload the file onto Wordpress, and view it on that website in the browser...it might be using a different pdf handler program which might be causing this issue ( it would be helpful, if you could provide the screenshot) , however when you download the pdf again from wordpress server...and open in Acrobat/Reader...then what  exactly happens ?  Does the pdf opens in the desired Initial View setting?

  • Photoshop CS-6 does not open images from Lightroom 5

I do have Photoshop CS-6 and Lightroom 5.  Nearly all images were created in a Windows 7 (64 bit) environment.  I have moved platforms to MAC. I have moved all images and the Catalog. I have changed platform to MAC. I am now using MAC OS-X (10.9.1).
I am able to see all images in Lightroom, I am able to modify all images in Lightroom. I can export the images to Jpeg (for example) from Lightroom.  I do have a warining at several images in Lightroom = "metadates have been changed - would you like to overwrite data or import ?"
First time I have tried to open an Image from Lightroom (hand over) Photoshop opens, but does not show any picture and no error message. But when I then look to recently opened files, the image is in the list. When I do click on this, Photoshop shows and error message: "the datamodule can not handle the file format" (which is either RAW or jpeg).
Another expirience is, when I try to open directly from Photoshop any other image, Photoshop ignores the XMP and opens the original file without any modification.

That's normal if the raw files were originally edited in Lightroom. Lightroom stores all edits in the catalog, not the xmp sidecar. You can set Lightroom to write to xmp as well, but that slows it down a little and so it's off by default. The Lightroom shortcut ctrl/cmd+S will also save to xmp.

That's related to the above, and also normal if you go the other way - edit in ACR and then move to Lightroom. It'll then be in xmp, but not the Lightroom catalog.
As for the missing on-screen image, that's a common video driver bug (although I suppose other causes are possible). For Windows you can download updated drivers directly from the manufacturer's website, but that's not possible with Mac. You'll have to wait for Apple to fix it.
