Moving images/text across spreads

I created a 40+ page manual as a document in InDesign. The spread I created (8.5 x 11) consists of two pages with images and text that go across both pages. Our printer is requesting that the book be set up exactly how it should print (i.e. page 1 is next to page 21, page 2 is next to page 22) so that it reads like a book when printed. Problem is that I built it in order (page 1, page 2, page 3...all side by side).
Is there a way I can re-set the pages to read like an actual book without manually moving everything to new pages? Again, some elements stretch across the entire spread which creates a HUGE problem when I try to move pages within the document.

You should find a printer who can actually do his job....
But there are several ways to deal with this relic. Will he accept a PDF? Use Print Booklet and print to PDF (If a Snow Leopard or Lion user, see InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Acrobat’s Adobe PDF Printer Replaced in Snow Leopard) or use this script: Dave's CS3 Booklet Script by Dave Saunders to creat a new imposed doc, which you can then export to PDF.

what I want to acheive is a HD motion graphic of text which will almost spin onto the screen letter my letter and then a become static word. Behind this I would like to place a moving image clip.
By 'basic cross image' what im looking to do is use a cruifix shape instead of a 't' on the text.

How do I mask text across layers to an image at bottom layer?

I have several layers of text which I want to mask to a bottom layer, which is a moving image.
The text layers appear in sequential chronological order to make a sentence (and I need them on several layers for positioning). The first word's mask works great, but none of the other texts/masks end up showing as they are on lower layers and are being masked
I also want the masked out area to be black.
I am attaching an image which shows what I want, but imagine each word is on a different layer, show up sequentially, and are surrounded by black.

Use text animators to reveal your text. Use the text layer as a track matte for the video. All that is required is two layers.
If you insist on having each word on a separate layer, precompose your animated text layers and then use the pre-comp as an alpha track matte for your video.
These are AE basics.

How to populate a page with images in across/down direction?

Hi,
Does anyone know how to populate a page with images in across and down direction (for example 6 X 6 )? It seems that I cannot use data table because records are only running downward and each row can have one record.
Any suggestion would be appreciated. thanks.

You can create your own tabular form using APEX_ITEM API's
Create report and you can put similar code to following
SELECT APEX_ITEM.TEXT(1,col1) pk1, APEX_ITEM.TEXT(2,col2) pk2 FROM your_tableSo data will be displayed in TEXT boxes as if it's a tabular form. Now you need to handle INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE processes manually. You can easily handle INSERT and DELETE. But handling UPDATE can be a nightmare. What if user has updated both the column values?

One way out would be to use ROWID as Primary key to handle DELETE and UPDATE

You'll need an external editor for that:

Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)

Pixelmator ($50 approx)
Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

Moving image inside a shape (a bit like a TV)?

Hey, first time here, so apologies if this has been asked before.
It's a little tricky to word what I'm looking for, so searches haven't proved very fruitful. Basically, I'm looking to have an image move across a 'screen' like box. The best example I can think of is this:

Actually to be honest, that's exactly the effect I'm trying to achieve. Keeping the image inside a particular box, moving across it to give off a panning effect.
How can I achieve this with After Effects?

Is it possible to Auto text across apps

I'm looking for a way (App) that will let me use Auto text across different Apps.
I write a lot of similar text pieces several times a day for client replies, and want a way for Auto text to complete these sentences for me.
I want it to work across Apps like Mail, Pages etc. (fx: I write predefinded shortcut like: "callus" and the auto text fills out "Please don't hesitate to call us back") so that I works the same way (i.e. Use the same shortcuts) in different Apps.
Anyone?

Impossible. It's either image or text. Save a JPEG as a Word document. Try it. Seriously, change the file extension, open it in Word and see what happens.

How to display embedded image & text in content presenter web template

We have a requirement to display both text and embedded image together like in WYSIWYG editor in Webcenter spaces. The content has to be dynamic and is context sensitive so that users in the same role can edit and publish the content. The users who are in different role would see different piece of content.
To achieve this use case, i think Content Presenter enabled with Site studio is the best choice. I have created element and region definitions with WYSIWYG and region templates in site studio. Created contributor data file in UCM. Content Presenter in webcenter is configured with that region definition and the region template etc.
At design time, the contributor data file is edited and some image / text is added in WYSIWYG editor.. But however at runtime view, i could see only the text added in WYSIWYG editor and the file name of the image embedded....Any one successfully used Content Presenter with Site studio???

Write a custom carousel. Usually carousel components are just ULs that use something like jQuery to rotate through the LIs. The foundation carousel component is really just designed for some specific use cases. Generally I would just recommend rolling your own.

Content is moving when seperateing a spread into singles

Hello,
OK...I have a document that started as single pages, and I have manually moved some to create spreads...That works fine....But, when I select the 2 pages that are spreads and choose "allow selected spread to shuffle" it separate's the pages but the content is moving?
The offset of the x and y coordinates actuallyy change?? and the object all shift...... The slug really moves out of wack......
Does anyone know how this could possibly happen?

There's a good chance that Page Control has something to do with that. Here's some suggestions:
1) If enable Layout Adjustment (under Layout --> Layout Adjustment) is not enabled, try enabling it.
2) Try contacting DTP Tools to see if this is a known issue, and/or if they have a workaround.
3) If you are feeling adventurous, you can try downloading Reflective Objects and seeing if that keeps your objects where they belong. I have no idea how well it interacts with Page Control and I'd be very interested in finding out. If the results are interesting enough, it might even be worth a complementary license of Reflective Objects...

While generating PDF from webpage or website some of the images/texts doesnt show up in PDF. Also, there are a lot of formatting inconsistencies.

Creating, Editing & Exporting PDFs ! ! !

Can anyone please help, the websites hosted with us are developed on adobe CQ5.4 content management tool and when they are exported to PDF some of the images / texts doesn't get generated in the PDF. Also, the css /theme doesn't get generated resulting in formatting inconsistencies.
However, if the same website is generated using some online PDF converters all Images & texts are coming fine with correct formatting.
Is this issue due to using CQ CMS as that has a lot of components or is there a limitation with Acrobat XI pro trial version or anything else ?
Appreciate if some one could provide inputs.

Moving images doesnt update links in topics

RH8 HTML.
I moved some images around, renamed the folder containing them (all in RH). But the topics that use those images still hold the old link, and wont update to where the folder where the iamges are stored so all the links are dead. Is there a way to force a re-scan or something to make the topics look for the new location of the images, or do I have to change the paths manually in each topic where the links are broken?
I would have thought that when moving images in RH it would update paths in topics where those images are used so that it wouldnt have to be done manually.

Obviously those images were showing in Project Manager before you started moving the topics around, RH has always reworked the path reliably. It does not if you move them in Windows Explorer but you say that is not what you did.
If you right click an image and select Properties, you can see Used In. Is that blank?
Create a test project and create some folders and topics with images. Move things around and check it all works as it should.
Post back how that goes.

Lr3.5 windows_7 64bit: Problem moving images in Library collections

I am ruhnning Windows &7 Pro, 64 bit and I'm experiencing inconsistant behavior in Lightroom 3.5 with regard to moving images within collections. When I try to move an image, to place it in the order inwhich I would like view the sequence, the image is placed at the end of the sequence no matter where I place it initially. I've tried the filmstrip view and the grid view and it happens in both. I recall doing this without problems previously however it was in the imported Library not a collection, but why would this be different?? One still needs to reorder images in collections. I've made certian to change the "sort" option to user each time I've tried to do this. Any Ideas? Thanks

'User order' has some surprises. When it works it can be difficult to appreciate what differs from when it doesn't. Julianne Kost video is a good starting point on what will and won't work with a little on why http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/custom-sort-orders/ . If collections and several folders are involved the work round to meet your goals may include a combination of moves, copies and renaming files (export and re-import even) to create an alphanumeric sort. The 'dumping' at the end of the sequence manifests itself in other situations related to the order status in force at the point when you start moving files.
