Moving Infinity - pricing

Hi all,
I currently have Infinity2 and I'm on the 12th of the 18th months of the contract. Line rental is pay per month.
I am moving house now.
As I've been informed by BT, even though the new Exchange supports Infinity and Infinity 2, for my post code Infinity 1 estimation is 32-38mbps and ininity 2 is up to 40mbps - so practically the same.
So, I called the Options team: They said that I can either:
1. cancel all my services (about £150 cancellation fee)
2. move my current Infinity2 and still be on the same 18 month contract paying the same as now (even though I'd be receiving worse service due to Infinity2 speeds not being available) or
3. downgrade to Infinity1, and do a new 12 month contract. I am favourable to this option, however:
The first time I called the Options team, the agent told me that in order to offset my need to renew the contract, they could offer a discount from £23/month to £15/month for the 12 months.
After thinking about it and deciding to go for Infinity1, I called again to take that package. However, I talked to a different agent and there was not any way she'd agree to give me the same discount or any discount at all! The price she quoted is the normal rate of £23/month for 12 months - not even any sort of discount same as for new customers.
What can I do? Keep calling until someone feels like giving the discount? After all, I am not really requesting for a downgrade - I am forced to, because Infinity2 will be useless if speeds are 2% more than infinity1.
Help!

Be careful that you get the full details before you sign up to anything. There are currently three main versions of Infinity 1 with standard pricing as follows.
£15 - Infinity 1 (20GB)
£18 - Infinity 1 (40GB)
£23 - Infinity 1 (Unlimited)
Infinity 1 (Unlimited) at £15 would be an extremely generous offer considering BT don't strictly have to offer you anything as Infinity 2 is available at your new residence and you are still within the contract minimum period. Maybe the first advisor confused things with the 20GB version?

  • Moving: Infinity not available - options?

    Hi everyone,
Sorry if this has been asked before or if it's in the wrong section. I'm new, so be gentle
Currently, I've got Vision, Infinity and a land line with BT. Unfortunately, I'll be moving to a new property that hasn't  got Infinity. Since I need >40GB download limit, I would have to move to a new 12 month contract on broadband, which is (I guess) 6-7 times slower. Cancelling the whole package is going to cost me over 300 pound, which is too steep.
So, I was wondering if you have any advice on which options I'd have?
    Thanks in advance,
    Leonard

I would suggest you contact BT sales on 150 and explain you are moving to a non infinity area and need to downgrade to a standard Broadband package explain it is not your fault they cannot provide the service and there for should be downgraded at no charge

I was going to put it in the Infinity forum but as there were other similarish ones here, and that my problem is reagrding a connection issue (my modem gets Inifinity just fine), I thought thought the connection issues forum would be the correct place.
Also as HH3 is not Infinity specific, I thought the problem was not necessarily Inifinity specific either
Even so, thanks for putting in the correct place.

  • Pricing of material as per packaging

    Hello Friends,
Can anyone tell me how to map the this scenario, when material is sold with different packaging the sales price of the material changes.
For example : A company is selling oil, price of  the oil changes daily. While selling oil, price of oil is fixed with customer and this price considered as basis for calculating the price of 15 kg oil pack or 1 ltr. oil pack. The price of 15 kg oil pack  is total of price of oil + cost of packing.
    Please help.
    Amit

    Hi all,
    Thank You for immediate reply.
Please elaborate on the moving average pricing.
The pricing for packing and finished goods will be different at item level then how to calculate taxes and duties to be levied? Please send me details of any scenario you have mapped. It will be great help.
    Thanks in advance

  • Infinity roll-out kills Standard Broadband Service

BT have rolled out Infinity to my area and since the roll-out my Standard Broadband Service has deteriorated to an extent that BT have confirmed they can longer guarantee me that service (despite the fact they are still willing to charge me for it)! Anyone else been impacted in this way?  I've been told my only option to obtain Broadband is to pay for the more expensive Infinity.

Its not an issue in all areas, but the longer the distance from the cab, the more noticeable it is. Generally, if people are getting very low speeds due to distance, it does make sense for them to upgrade to Infinity, if its available.
I believe that the Infinity pricing is fairly competitive anyway.
Infinity has not really interested me because I get between 9-11Mb on my line, and I use broadband talk quite a lot.
My local connection is not perfect, and one of the two pairs into my house are faulty anyway, and the current pair does have a HR somewhere, which can show itself if the landline is not used for a week (no DC wetting, if you know what that means)
That can result in an occasional disconnection on an incoming PSTN call, but not enough to worry about.

  • BT Usual EPIC FAIL!

Fillied in a Moving House form online January 16th and thought will see how good they are these days when moving Infinity and landline to a new house. Visit booked for Friday 15th and Open Reach engineer calls me an hour before telling me line has not been activated and that he has to wait! Blaming BT for the mess. So here I an using my iphone tethering to give me the internet. What a bunch of useless %+**** this outfit are and now they tell me that activation date is now 11th March!!!! Honestly they couldn't organise a p*** up in a brewery could they?
I will cancel my DD next and just pull the plug on it if they can't improve and have it activated this week!
Anyone got any numbers to speak to the proper person to get this connected and sorted ASAP?

As with most other ISP's, BT don't do the installs themselves, instead they are done by Openreach and Openreach can't prioritize one ISP over another, therefore you can only get an install when an engineer is available.

  • Engineer callout dispute

    Hi,
I've just had a very frustrating call with the BT support people over a £99 charge I've just had on my bill.  Here's the background:
    - had BT Infinity at old property and no issues
    - moved into new property July 2012 and moved Infinity with me
    - a lot going on with house move with 3 kids/half term so never checked download speed after "settling in" period
    - father passed away December 2012 after a few months of being diagnosed with leukemia in August
    - January 2013 started working from home more regularly
    - March 2013 friend queried why my broadband was so slow (5mb download speed)
    - called BT and explained that although broadband was working, it was very slow
    - BT ran through all usual checks with me to no avail so arranged for engineer visit
    - engineer came and explained that Broadband wiring had not been done correctly by original contractors in July (in fact he went as far as saying it was a complete botch job) and after he'd corrected it, Broadband went up to expected 45MB download speed
    - £99 charge on bill as fault was due to "star wiring" in property that had to be replaced
Am I being unreasonable to dispute this charge?  The initial person I spoke to said she had made her decision to uphold the charge, but that she would refer to a different department who dealt with disputes and they would be calling me back within 4 hours.
    Any feedback appreciated!!!
    Cheers

  • Moving BT Infinity modem and HH3 router to another...

Typically my master socket is in the dining room and all my IT kit is two floors up.  Was using HH3 as Total Broadband in my loft with ethernet connection out to my Apple Airport Extreme which ran the network - everything hunky dory but I wanted faster speed - hence Inifinty.
BT Engineer had a look at my set up, started talking of bringing in a hoist into my back garden to install new Master Socket and it just seemed easier to install in the dining room and use the HH3 as router and re-configure my network - wrong!  Most devices lose contact with the HH3 on a regular basis, therefore I want to re-look at installing Infinity into the loft and revert the HH3 to a ethernet connection out to my Airport Extreme.  I understand all the engineers do at the master socket is install an Infinity faceplate.  I've tried replacing the loft extension with a split front BT master socket and moveed the Infinity faceplate - result; voice remains but no DSL on the white Open Reach modem.
Are there any suggestions what I need to do?  The original extension had four wires connections (white & blue, blue, orange & white, white & orange) but the BT master socket only has three positions and my original master socket only has two wires connected.
    Thanks, Andy

Even though the connection is currently not the greatest once Infinity is installed at that exchange, will it then be how far i am from a green box?
Is there a minimum for this, as in once its installed should i see a pretty decent increase in speed even though it might not be the full 40mb? Because i'm not right next door to the box, (i will be living in a small estate around the corner from the main road where i think the box is)

it is the distance from the green roadside box but not all boxes will get a new infinity box next to it.  if you do then at present your line test must show 15mb connection at least.  by the time you get infinity there will be a package for <15mb

BT Got back 24hrs later and said there was a fault between exchange and our house which was now fixed, however, no explanation whether this was the cause of the previous problems. Also, yesterday evening HH4 rebooted and after checking the event logs a new PPoE session had started. Called them again and they told me BT would still be carrying out checks on the line - whether that was the case or not I'm not sure as that happened at the start of all this three weeks ago (a new PPoE session started during middle of night) prior to this everything was fine since installation on 31st July.
Also ip profile has dropped from approx 38Mbps to 34Mbps since installation and no-one can explain why.
