Moving-Intergrating CCM/Unity 3.X cluster to 4.2 cluster

We are working on incorporating or upgrading a 3.2 cluster to 4.2. for CCM and Unity. Can we BAT the profiles User/Devices from one to the other. Also what are some of the challenges that we may encounter.

Hi James,
I'm just going to speak to the CCM question for now (pretty complicated) Just as an FYI CCM 4.2 has been announced as EoL (see below) I really like 4.2(3) but I just wanted you to know (you may already :)

For a CCM 3.2 to CCM 4.2;
This type of upgrade uses a multi-step approach to migrate the data from CCM 3.2 to 4.2(3). There are different considerations depending on whether or not the Servers are being replaced etc.
Upgrading Your Cisco Unified CallManager Server (When You Are Not Replacing Hardware)
You cannot upgrade directly from Cisco CallManager Release 3.2 or earlier to Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.2. If your server runs a version of Cisco CallManager Release 3.2 or earlier, you must first upgrade every server in the cluster to the latest version of Cisco CallManager Release 3.3, 4.0, or 4.1 before you can upgrade to a version of Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.2. For information on upgrading to Cisco CallManager Release 3.3, refer to the latest version of Upgrading Cisco CallManager Release 3.3.
Note If you are upgrading from Cisco CallManager 3.3, you must use the disks from the Cisco Unified CallManager 4.2(3) software kit.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a00807202d7.html
If all you want from the 3.2 database is the phone/user info, you may be able to use the BAT Export from 3.2 and then BAT Import on 4.2. Be careful with the actual BAT format between versions as they will not match exactly for sure. With some tweaking this would probably work. Try some example Export/Imports to fine tune the .csv or BAT.xlt details before going for the lot.
Hope this helps!

  • How to install CCMS agent in MSCS cluster system?

    Hi,
We just migrated our WAS 7.0 system from a single to a MSCS cluster system and we need re-install CCMS agent on it. New cluster system have two nodes. Each node we have local SAP instances. We have central instance for message server running on a shared drive, which can failover to one of the nodes. My question is when I install CCMS agent, where I should I install it? Each node of the cluster on local drive or only shared drive or I have to install on three places?
    Thanks you.
    Yujun Ran

    Hallo.
    Did you solve your issue?
I followed Oss note 536954, but I am not sure that it is for new cluster system.
Furthermore, the CCMS agent that you installed, point to a CEN system (as Solution manager for example) and as second system to the central instance ?
    Thanks.

  • CCM Unity Unity Express

Planning to have centralized CCM 4.0 and Unity 4.03 but to reduce WAN traffic intending to have a Unity Express at each remote site.
Is this possible? Would I be able to direct remote offices phones to the Unity Express and all central IP Phones to Central Unity Server.
As I would be running G.729a codec over the WAN would toll-bypass calls originated from the central be able to leave messages on the remote Unity express?
    Thanks

Yes. You could have a gateway with PSTN access at the remote office with a Unity Express module. This is especially helpful since it will work the same way even if the WAN is down (to the outside callers, at least--if you're talking about using SRST and having CUE registered to the central callmanager, then you'll loose MWI during the outage--but otherwise everything will work the same).
CUE does require G.711 so you either have to transcode at the remote gateway or allocate bandwidth for G711 across the WAN.

  • Moving ESX hosts to a new cluster?

I have 6 ESX 3.5.0 systems currently divided into three 2-node clusters.
Cluster 1 is HP DL380 G6 with Xeon E5540 CPU's and is not licensed for vMotion
Cluster 2 is HP DL380 G7 with Xeon X5650 CPU's and is licensed for vMotion
Cluster 3 if HP DL380 G6 with Xeon E5520 CPU's and is licensed for vMotion
All nodes are live and in production.  Recently while enabling hyperthreading on nodes of cluster 2, the manual failovers didn't go well and we had a lot of downtime while systems fought for resources.  HA has admission control enabled and 1 host failover capacity so I'm not sure why we had such extreme problems.  Based on that issue, I'd like to create a larger cluster if possible but that brings a series of questions:
    1)  What nodes are hardware compatible to create a larger cluster?  It looks like the nodes from 1 and 3 can be combined into one four node cluster but the CPU's are too different in cluster 2 to join them.  Is that correct?
    2)  What implications are there of moving nodes to a new cluster?  These are running VM's in a production environment, unplanned downtime is not tolerated (but planned is usually OK).  It looks like I can just put a node into maintenance mode, remove it from a cluster, and then re-add it to a new cluster?  If I license the nodes on cluster 1 for vMotion before this work, can that be done with no guest downtime?
    Any gotcha's?
Everything is scheduled to be replaced later this year (new servers, VMware, and SAN) but with the failovers not working smoothly on cluster 2, I'd like to get this fixed as much as possible as soon as possible, with of course as little cash outlay as possible.
Thanks for any insight you can provide!

    Hi,
As you have new servers I recommend you :
    - Install OEL 5 on these new server ( OEL 6 is not supported)
    - Install Oracle Clusterware 11.2.0.3
    - Install Oracle Database 11.1.0.7
    - Configure temporary Virtual IP (at moment of migration you can reconfigure these Virtual IP with same used on old cluster)
    - Create a New Database with same name from actual PROD env using DBCA
    - Configure Services and Network
    - So remove only database files (Spfile, Control, Datafiles, Online Logs) from this new database created
At moment of Migration of Servers:
    - Shutdown the Old Cluster
    - Configure the Virtual IP of old cluster on new Cluster / Also you will need reconfigure Listeners and Tnsnames.ora
    - Map the Luns of Database Files on new Cluster and mount your filesystem
    - Start Database and all depend resources.
I recommend you use Grid Infrastructure (clusterware) 11.2 because if you in the future want upgrade your database to 11.2, you will need only install a Oracle RAC 11.2 and Upgrade your Database from 11.1.
If you install Clusterware 11.1 you will need upgrade both (Clusterware and RAC). It is much more work and you can find much more trouble to UPGRADE Clusterware, than performing a fresh installation.
Oracle Clusterware 11.2 Support (Oracle RAC 9i/10g/11g)
Any problem during these step at moment of migration you will have the old cluster.
Open an SR in the MoS to validate this new structure and migration.(This will help with possible problems that may occur)

  • Can we setup two sets different 7912 logos in one CCM cluster?

    Hi,
CCM 4.1(3) cluster within head office. We created the 7912 logo for system default image. However, the remote site 7912 phones, need to use a different logo other than the head office.
    as per http://forum.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&forum=Unified%20Communications%20and%20Video&topic=IP%20Telephony&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Dpass_through%26location%3Doutline%40%5E1%40%40.1ddc5d3d/0#selected_message
We can create the 7912 logo, but how can we setup two or more different 7912 logos for different sites?
We noticed on CCM4.1(3), there is idle URL for 7912 phone, what is the callmanager default link for this URL? I am thinking to use different logo file names, and put the related URL on this parameters for remote site 7912 phones.
Could someone let me know or any other better way to do?
    Thanks,
    JJ

    Hi JJ,
    This should work just the way you have described. Have a look;
    Idle
Enter the URL that displays on the Cisco IP Phone display when the phone has not been used for the time that is specified in Idle Timer field. For example, you can display a logo on the LCD when the phone has not been used for 5 minutes.
Leave this field blank to accept the default setting.
    Idle Timer (seconds)
Enter the time (in seconds) that you want to elapse before the URL that is specified in the Idle field displays.
Leave this field blank to accept the value of the Idle URL Timer enterprise parameter.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a00801ecfc7.html#1121361
    Here how on CCM;
    Method 1:
Choose System > Enterprise Parameters so that the change is propagated to all of the phones from the Cisco CallManager Administration page.
In the URL Idle field, enter http://IP_address_of_CallManager/CCMCIP/filename.xml.
In the URL Idle Time field, enter any positive value in seconds.
    Method 2:
Choose Device > Phone under the Cisco IP Phone configuration so that only this phone displays the graphics from the Cisco CallManager Administrator page.
Choose the phone/phones on which you want to put the display.
In the Idle field, enter the path http://IP_address_of_CallManager/CCMCIP/filename.xml.
In the Idle Timer field, enter any positive value in seconds.
    From this good doc;

  • Error message of MAC flapping for CCM-UC installed in UCS server

    Dear All,
I have a strange issue, I have the 2 UCS servers setup with CCM & unity Connection running on each server on PUB - SUB mode.
I'm getting following error message on the Switch where the UCS server Connects.
I'm unable to trace why we are getting this error message, There is no problem with accessing CCM or UC, also the Phone & Voice mail seem to working.

    Hello,
I believe you'll get better answer at:
my best guess is to check the LAN config on the UCS. It seems its trying to load balance the traffic in Active-Active rather than Active-Standby.

  • Cannot get Unity 8.0 to syncronize with Active Directory

    Hi All,
any help/advice will be greatly appreciated here.  Pulling my hair out on this one.  So we installed our CUC 8.0.2 a few years ago.  At the time, CUC was setup to sync with LDAP, our windows AD.  Filters were defined, etc.  All has been fine until recently.  Unfortunately I cannot define recent - not sure when this started.  I normally don't deal with CUC, but I am now.  Basically we either modify or add users in AD and they are not showing up in CUC->users.  I actually have 1 user where this person took over for another and in CUC/users half their info is the last user and half is the new user.  Weird stuff.
I don't know what the issue is.  To my knowledge nothing has changed either in CUC or AD.  I attempted a wireshark sniff only to find out that infact LDAP queries were successful from my unity server to domain controller.
I then turned on dirsync on one of the unity servers, looked at the logs using the RTMT and specifically dealing with the user above, I see that unity successfully queries AD and AD cleary responds with the user attributes.  But even in the log it states that nothing has changed with the user.  I went a head and changed some of the attributes on the user that are mandatory in our CUC setup, performed another sync, and still no change.
I have 3 domain controllers, 2 unity servers (sub and pri).  No matter which unity server I attempt the sync from or which domain controller I list as #1 on the list in the CUC setup, no changes are made.  This is really frustrating.  I have 1 windows 2008 R2 DC and 2 windows 2003 DC's (at present time) each is also a GC.
I rebooted both unity servers (utils system restart) waited a while after the first server rebooted came back online before I did the second.  Still no change.
Can anyone suggest where I can look to find the answer as to what is going on?
thank you in advance for any ideas.

  • Hyper-V Cluster went wacky, ERROR_TIMEOUT (1460), Remote Administration, Remote Registry

Each Hyper-V host is a Windows 2012 Server
Each host is Connected to a Dell Powervault MD3260 via Dual SAS Cables.
We started getting Errors similar to the Following:
    Log Name: System
    Source: Microsoft-Windows-FailoverClustering
    Date: 9/22/2014 12:01:24 PM
    Event ID: 5142
    Task Category: Cluster Shared Volume
    Level: Error
    Keywords:
    User: SYSTEM
    Computer: SVR-HBG-VM4.HAYDON-MILL.COM
    Description:
Cluster Shared Volume 'VSVR_File_Data' ('VSVR_File_Data') is no longer accessible from this cluster node because
of error 'ERROR_TIMEOUT(1460)'. Please troubleshoot this node's connectivity to the storage device and network connectivity.
The CSV Resources that were giving the Timeout Errors were all managed on one specific host, other CSVs on the Powervault were all working fine form the Host reporting the timeout error.
Each of the Host then started to have issues with timeouts to other CSV.   Dell Tech Support interrogated the Powervault and found no issued with the Connectivity and no events were present on the Powervault indicating an issue.
Each of the Host would then hand in Explorer, the Task bar would have no icons in the task bar and turn to hourglass when moving mouse to it.
Failover Cluster Manager would sometimes work, then stop working, It would not update the status of the VMs. They would jsut stay at "Loading..." Hyper-V Manager would have similar issues.
We ended up Shutting down all of the VMs and the Cluster and then bringing it back online. Though in the Process we had to tweak some things, the DNS settings on the Hosts were pointing to a VM that was Offline that was fixed. We could not reconnect to the
cluster after we turned on the Hosts.  We were getting RPC server unavailable.
I ended up turning off the Firewalls, resetting the NICs and things started to get better.
8 Minutes prior to the Issues did make a few GPO Changes.
Windows Firewall: Allow inbound Remote Desktop Exception Domain Profile
    was 10.0.0.0/8
    Changed to 10.0.0.0/8,10.1.0.0/16
Windows Firewall: Allow inbound Remote Desktop Exception Standard Profile
    10.1.0.0/16, localsubnet
Windows Firewall: Allow inbound Remote administration Exception Domain Profile
    was localsubnet,10.0.0.0/8
    Changed to localsubnet,10.0.0.0/8,10.1.0.0/16
Windows Firewall: Allow inbound Remote administration Exception Standard Profile
    10.1.0.0/16, localsubnet
    Remote Registry Service
    Set to Manual Start
So my Question is, could these changes of Affected the Hyper-V Hosts in the Cluster?
    Thanks!
       Scott<-

I guess I don't see why what I did caused this?  The only Change that should of been a Limitation was the Remote Registry set to Manual. If the service on the Clusters was set to Automatic and I set it to Manual, I could see that happening. I removed
that setting in the GPO, though I never altered the service on the Cluster Hosts afterwards.
I Guess if in the Setup of the Cluster Hosts it Changed the Inbound Rules in the Firewall and then I limited them further, though I allowed the LocalSubnet and all of the Hosts are in the local subnet. 10.1.0.0/16.
One Host finally came back online and was able to start VMs and Connect to the cluster without stopping the firewall. Its firewall was only turned off later to match the other three hosts.
Do the Cluster Hosts use the ports for Remote Administration to Communicate to each other?
Here is another thought, Do they communicate to each other via the Management Port or the Redundant Network Link?  the Redundant Channel Link is in 10.99.0.0/24  Though Each of the changes I made had either
10.0.0.0/8 which should be a super-set of 10.99.0.0/24 or it had LocalSubnet, which should be 10.99.0.0/24
I just want to be sure that was really the cause and turning off the firewalls was not just masking another issue.
    Thanks,
      Scott<-

  • Cisco Unity ServerUpdatesWizard-v.3.0.02-12-2009

    Hi
I've just applied the latest OS security updates, hot fixes and patches updates to our Unity 5 VM cluster and understand that the Server Updates Wizard is the best way to approach this.
Following the update, I ran a cursory check against Microsoft’s download site following was more than a little surprised to see that we are already 19 critical updates behind.
What do other people do - do you religiously wait for Cisco to release the patches in the next update wizard or do you get them direct from Microsoft. Has anyone come really unstuck if they have pursued the latter path.
Also, I noted that this update called for the CSA (the stripped down non-configurable version) to be uninstalled before I could update it (I had selected that it be updated in the opening menu options). However the update didn't re-instate it. Did I miss something.
    Thanks in advance
    Richard

Thanks for your response. I guess in my heart of hearts, I'd convinced myself that the Unity SUW was the way to go but with Microsoft issuing "out of band” critical updates (the latest one is for IE if memory serves), it was useful to see what others are doing.
I'll follow your advice and stick with Cisco
    Best regards
    Richard

The end column is ACTION with the shopping cart .gif for add to cart.
Does anyone know how to move the column from the right hand side of the screen to the left. for example.
This is not a characteristic which available for moving via ccm config.

  • Hyper-v Cluster and new AD organisation.

    Hello everyone.
We have a very very bad situation.
In one of our new customers we get the following configuraion.
Organisations AD was corrupted and lost
there are Hyper-v nodes WinSrv2012 in failover cluster hosted on  8x HP c7000 blade system
there is HP P2000 datastore 49.5 Tb full size.
there isn't VMM (please don't ask me "Why"
2 CSV volumes pesented to cluster (i suppose via Failover cluster services)
And the worst thing we actually don't have any backups. I suppose previous local administrators were irresponsible.
So we have the following behavior of system
We don't able to move Virtual machines between nodes even manually.
DAtastore is full. We cannot create  new LUN because All disks are used.
There are too many critical VM's which couldn't be stopped for a long time.
I have new AD but i can not rejoin nodes to the new domain because almost all node contain critical machines and as i told i can not move ones to another node as well. Also i cannot do it because in this case moved node will deleted from Failover cluster so
in this case i can damage csv volumes.
Actually i can turn off each VM for a little time.
So i have a question. What is the best solution in this situation. can i use for migrate all hyper-v infrastructure to new AD but keep all most part VHD's in place.
Sorry for my EN. And Thank you in advance.

Ouch, this is a horrible situation.
My advice would be that you
    1. Connect a new Hyper-V host to the new domain (You can disconnect one from your old cluster, format it and connect it to the new domain).
    2. Configure it as a new cluster, this can be performed with one node.
    3. Copy the VM's from the old cluster to the new cluster. Your going to need to work out a way to have enough free space to perfrom this. I would try using local disk space to free up a Lun then assign that Lun to the new cluster. Continue copying untill
another Lun free's up and so on.
    4. After all VM's are copied and imported to new Hyper-V you can format the second cluster node and join it to the new cluster.
    5. Your going to have to re-join every VM manually to the new domain.
Hope this gives you some insight on a solution for your problem.
    Good Luck!

  • SCVMM created VMs not displayed in Failover Cluster Manager

I have a 2012 Hyper-V failover cluster setup and recently added SCVMM 2012 SP1 to the mix so I could perform some P2V migrations and familiarize myself with its other many capabilities. I noticed that if I create a VM inside SCVMM it doesn't show up in the
FCM UI with the other VMs I created from FCM. VMs that you create in FCM do get picked up by SCVMM however. Is this by design?
    Thanks,
    Greg

For my issue above, this was because I'd not noticed and thus not ticked the box on the Live Migrate wizard that says "Make this VM highly available".
I moved the VM out of the cluster, manually deleted the failed "SCVMM <VMName> Resource", then moved the VM back onto the cluster again but this time ticking the box to make the VM highly available. All looked fine in failover cluster manager.
I do rather wonder why SCVMM designers think I might want to migrate a VM onto a Hyper-V cluster and NOT want it to be highly available...? Likewise, to be able to move the VM back out again to a standalone host once it's correctly in the cluster, you have
to untick the "Make this VM highly available box". Surely this should just be done automatically in the background?

  • UCCE 7.5 And CCM 4.1(3)

Planning an upgrade of ICM 6.0 to ICM 7.5 and still on CCM 4.1(3) cluster.  Anyone know and has tested these two versions together?  I've checked the documentations and see that it's not very consistent as some says CCM 4.1(3) is support while others says a minimum of CCM 4.2?  Not been able to get a straight answer from our SE's either?
Also, has anyone done an installed where you're running two different versions of ICM 6 & 7.x off the same CCM cluster?  What components can be shared between the two versions, such as IPIVR, Domain Environment, etc....
    Thanks for looking.

I am helping a client upgrade CM from 4.x to 7.x they have ICM, CVP 4.x.  It was clearly mentioned by one of the leading cisco partners 4.1 will not work with many things and cannot be upgrade direct to 7.x.  On the contrary 4.2 is much more easy and can be upgraded direct to 7.x does work with 7.x etc
so short answer no for 4.1 yes it will work with 4.2 cm.
    Good luck,
    Baseer.

  • Multiple Cluster Resource Names Possible?

    Scenario:
We have 2003 R2 cluster resource groups that utilize multiple network name's per resource group to support legacy applications (and poor coding).  These must now be moved to a 2008 R2 Failover Cluster.  Is there a way to have only 1 IP address
assigned, but have multiple network names to a 2008 R2 Resource Group?  The systems are already configured with the DisableStrictNameChecking and OptionalNames registry keys - but the cluster resource group is where I'm hitting a snag.
Any way to accomplish this?  (Just add several names to the resource group using just the 1 IP)??
    Thanks!
    mark

    Hi Mark,
I think we may have the following options to workaround this:
