Moving into SAP - SOA - Netweaver - XI
Hi,
I'm a non SAP person and currently work as a Technical Architect in SOA field predominantly from middle ware integration, Java & J2EE background with an overall experience of 10+ years.
I specialise in IBM WebSphere domain specially BPEL, EIS Adapters, Web Service, ESB, and BPM using IBM's WebSphere Process Server.
Just to mention, I'm not just a white board architect and am pretty much hands on person capable of developing the integration solutions using SOA , Webservices & BPEL.

I'm very keen to know if it is possible and WORTH getting into SAP at this stage. You might be wondering why? and the answer to that is to acquire new skills and thus make myself more competitive and marketable and of course with a big monetary benefit

Recently I've been hearing a lot about the SAP's implementation of BPEL4WS, Netweaver, SOA and XI, and was thinking it might not be as hard as I'm assuming?? (I may be wrong, please please do let me know if I am
Any suggestions and guidance in this matter is most welcome and appreciate your time to read and answer my post.
Thanks

How to deploy web application .war file into SAP NetWeaver Engine?
Hi All,
I want to deploy web application which is developped using JAVA web technology into SAP netweaver Engine.
I tried to deploy .war file through SDM but it complained the following error

Can any one please suggest how to deploy external web application into SAP netweaver engine.
Is there any procedure to follow to do this.
your inputs will be highly appreciated...
Thanks in advanceHi,
I think first you need to wrap it into an EAR file, then you can deploy it.
As far as I know standalone deployment of WAR is deprecated as of 640.

JMYou may need to convert the .war archive to SDA/SCA file format before deploying it to SAP Netweaver Engine.
Check out the below SAP NOTE if it is usefull.
Note 1223957 - Usage of NetWeaver Packaging Tool.
Apart from SDM you can also deploy the files through telnet...
Note 859444 - How to deploy libraries on J2EE Engine 6.40
1)Connect to telnet as below
Start --> Run
telnet hostname/ip address portno
Ex: telnet xxx.xx.xx.x 5<Instance no>08
2)Login with administrator id:
Use the below command to deploy the files.
deploy <directory path to the SDAs location> version_rule=all on_prerequisite_error=stop on_deploy_error=stop
Example: deploy E:\usr\sap\trans\EPS\in\VCBASE03_0-10006939.SCA version_rule=all on_prerequisite_error=stop on_deploy_error=stop.
Also have a look at this note which talks about the error you are getting.
Note 1171457 - IllFormattedSduManifest/SduFileException during deployment
Hope it helps.

How to push data from BW into SAP R/3 system???
Hello,
We have faced a problem. We need to push compressed sales data from BW to SAP R/3 system. But We don't know how to do it.
Does it exist the standard instruments for it (without ABAP development)?
How to integrate BW and SAP system?
We will be much obliged you for your recomendations and advices.Hi Igor,
I'm not aware of any standard out of the box mechanisms for moving Sales data back into SAP ERP. There are some delivered "retractors" for business scenarios like financial planning and consolidations where updated data is sent back to SAP ERP in a closed loop scenario. These retractors have been written in ABAP.
I would suggest that you search the latest BI content to see if there is anything for sales data retraction. There might also be information in SAP note on how to do this in code.
To send data from BI, you can also use the 'open hub' feature to extract the BI data to a DB table or file for example. This could then be read by a program to load SAP ERP. The loading would have to be custom development.
Sorry I can't help you more - I fear you will most definitely have some custom development in this case.
Cheers,
Mike. -

How can I check the KM ACLs/Security Zones?
I had a look on "System Administration - System Configuration - Knowledge Management - Content Management - Repository Managers - Security Manager - WebDAV ACL Security Manager".
There was just "WDAclSecurityManager" and the Permission Rendering Class was "com.sapportals.wcm.control.acl.ResourcePermissionControl".
Or where do I have to look for the ACL? -

Hi BI Experts,
I am planning to get into SAP BI , currently workig on SAP ABAP from past 3.5 years. So please guide me how to get into.
Regards,
KaliHi Kali,
I suggest you to go for training provided by SAP Labs on SAP BI 7.0 which helps u lot. As you are experienced in ABAP, you might have known all such things. If you want to have a kick start what are the things you need to concentrate on, i can suggest you. ABAP + BW is a good combination. If you know BW along with ABAP, market also prfers the same combination.
For BW 3.5, refer this help link from SAP:

Steps to prepare and upload legacy master data excel files into SAP?
Hi abap experts,
We have brand new installed ECC system somehow configured but with no master or transaction data loaded .It is new empty system....We also have some legacy data in excel files...We want to start loading some data into the SAP sandbox step by step and to see how they work...test some transactions see if the loaded data are good etc initial tests.
Few questions here are raised:
-Can someone tell me what is the process of loading this data into SAP system?
-Should this excel file must me reworked prepared somehow(fields, columns etc) in order to be ready for upload to SAP??
-Users asked me how to prepared their legacy excel files so they can be ready in SAP format for upload.?Is this an abaper job or it is a functional guy job?
-Or should the excel files be converted to .txt files and then imported to SAP?Does it really make some difference if files are in excel or .txt format?
-Should the Abaper determine the structure of those excel file(to be ready for upload ) and if yes, what are the technical rules here ?
-What tools should be used for this initial data loads? CATT , Lsmw , batch input or something else?
-At which point we should test the data?I guess after the initial load?
-What tools are used in all steps before...
-If someone can provide me with step by step scenario or guide of loading some kind of initial master data - from .xls file alignment to the real upload - this will be great..
You can email me some upload guide or some excel/txt file examples and screenshots documents to excersize....
Your help is appreciated it.!

How to Import XML file into SAP B1
Dear All,
I have a scenario like,
I am receiving a XML file from a 3rd party application for the daily Creation,Update of Item Master,BP Master, Marketing Documents. I want to import this file into SAP B1 through its approp objects. I understand DTW has limitation in its file types (Semicolo,Tab,Comma,ODBC). How do i do this ? Please guide me.
Thanks,
Thanga Raj KHy folks,
I´m frim Brasil and I've been studying the tool EFM (Eletronic File Manager) to learn more about it!
There I saw that we can extract to XML "any" infomation from the database we want, mainly through the GEP.
However, as I've seen, this Add-On can not import any XML file into SBO, unless for the BFP wich can be imported in conjunction with the BTHF Add-on.
So I ask: how is it possible to import XML data into SBO database? Is it possible to be done through the EFM? or it´s really necessary to write a code specifically to do that?
Besides, I know that de B1iSN fit to this necessity... but when I tried to use it, by the custom "object" for BP, for example, there are some data wich the mapping conteined in this custom "process" that can not be imported... I tried to understand how to map those other fields not imported by the custom but this has been dificult to me as I am a implementation consultant focused in administrative process not on development...
Could you please help me with this subject!
Thanks a lot,
Denis -
