Moving iweb folders

My husband set up my new web site in iWeb and did it on his computer. I want to review it and change some photos, so he dragged the folder containing his iweb work, located in his Sites folder to my computer over the LAN, thinking this would give me access to the original files.
This became an unhappy process, though, partly, I think, because iWeb on my computer already has several sites, and there is no obvious way to add my husband's work to my copy of iWeb. We know about the domains file but we are not sure how it fits in.
We also note that dragging the welcome.html or index.html from the moved folder to the iWeb icon does not start iWeb.
I don't know what to do?

Tom,
Glad to expand. Naturally, there is wide variation in the way that web hosts handle things on the server end. We use pair.com, but the general concept is the same for all, though getting to the settings might be different.
The idea is that when someone hits your address (www.example.com), and is then directed to the folks that are hosting your site, somehow the server has to know what folder contains the index.html file (or welcome, or whatever). The server expects that your files will be in the expected folder.
You can redirect, which means that you make a web page with a small bit of code that sends people scurrying off to wherever.
Or, you can tell the server that you want any html traffic to go to any other desired folder, without requiring redirect. I suppose there is benefit here but I am not sure what it might be, other than people never seeing anything other than www.example.com, and not seeing the /site_name folder. It can actually be pretty handy if for some reason you want your site folder to live someplace else for whatever reason.
On pair.com this is a trivial exercise and possibly easier than a redirect. I don't know. And that is about all I know about it.
Now back to regular programming…anyone know how to get my web site up and happy?

  • Help - moved itunes folders to external drive and now my itunes is totally

A few months ago, in order to free up space on my c drive, i had to purchase an external drive - everything i installed via itunes since that date has been on the hard drive and everything was fine.
Last night i needed more room on my C drive so i stupidly moved the remaining itunes folders from my C drive to my F drive - unfortunately, when i opened itunes it was blank.
i've tried a few things - including adding the folder from the F drive - and that retrieved about 80% of my music/videos and the last playlists i had - however, they were all missing songs - even if all the songs that should be included remained on my itunes
i began the tedious process of manually adding files back in but soon realized this doesn't help itunes consider this the same ipod as what's still on my actual ipod.
*What I'd like to do (if possible) is to wipe itunes clean and somehow restore everything on my ipod into itunes so that i retrieve not only the songs and videos but also the playlists that i've spent way too much time building. At this point i fear that the various components to my ipod are in too many files on my external drive to be easily restored another way (though if i'm wrong please let me know)*
sadly (as this story might suggest) I am borderline computer illiterate - I've read a few posts suggesting some sort of software online (something the apple help line also made an "off the record" remark about) - but I can't for the life of me figure out which i would use or how to do this without risking the contents of my existing ipod (which has the playlists and songs/video I want to reestablish).
*Can anyone possibly suggest how to best handle this and walk me through it in painstakingly basic and specific detail? I would be forever grateful.*
    Thanks

iTunes uses the iTunes Library files - in particular the iTunes Library.itl file - to keep track of where your song files are located as well as playlist and related information.
Most likely in moving your folders around iTunes has been confused to such an extent that it created a new Library file. With a bit of luck you might still be able to find the old file which would restore your old Library.
So the first thing you want to do is look around your computer and make a note of any iTunes Library.itl files you can find. Generally speaking you'll find them in the iTunes folders on your system and depending on how you've been moving the folders - i.e. whether you "cut" them or "copied" them - you may still find at least one one on your F: drive and some on your C: drive.
Having noted where they are you know want to check each of them out as described in this article in the Apple Knowledge Base. In following those instructions you want to select the Choose Library option and use the pop-up window that appears to zero in on the various .itl files you've located.
Remember that each Library file will show a different Library in iTunes - perhaps slightly different, perhaps completely different - and if the first one isn't what you're looking for you'll have to close iTunes and repeat the procedure by selecting one of the other .itl's.
    Post back for any clarification.

  • Exchange 2003 - 2010. Moving public folders one at a time

    Hi all,
I'm in the process of decomisioning our old Exchange 2003 server (long overdue after what has been a relativly smooth and trouble free transition to 2010). As the first step in the decomisioning process, I'm looking to move the public folders from the 2003
box to the 2010 box. From my understanding there are a couple of ways to achieve this (please correct me if I'm wrong). The first is to add the Exchange 2010 server as a new replication partner, allow for replication of the PFs to occur, and then remove the
2003 partner from the replication partnership. The other option is to use MoveAllReplicas.ps1.
I opted for the first option, but the problem I have is that the initial replication process started to generate a very large number of transaction logs on the Exchange 2010 server, to the point I was slightly conccerned I was going to run out of space on
the volume (our server is backed up nightly at which point the transaction logs are normally flushed).Whilst I know I could potentially increase the size of the volume or turn on cicular logging for the duration of the migration (neither of which is appealing
as it will involve down time), I was wondering if there was a way to move a smaller set of Public folders one at a time with a powershell command, or is it an all or nothing operation? My other option may be to replicate a small subset of folders everyday,
but that just a little painful as there are a large number of child folders with in the structure. Any other suggestions welcome!
    Many thanks,
    Rob

    Hi,
If your Public Folder Database is large, you can use tool like Exfolders or ESM to add replica folder by folder.
A related article for your reference.

And it is recommended to replicate public folders off business hours.

  • I moved the mobilesync path where my backups should be stored. However, since then I moved some folders around which I think is the source of my error. I can no longer backup my iphone. How do I fix this?

A while ago, I moved the mobilesync path so that it would stop trying to backup onto my C drive. However, since then I moved some folders around which I think is the source of my error. I can no longer backup my iphone It just tells me that the backup is corrupted. When i go to preferences, devices, and look under backups it is empty. How do I fix this?

    Howdy there mjspace1994,
It sounds like you are unable to backup your phone after moving the mobile sync folder from its default location. If moving it back manually does not resolve the issue, I would next use either of the following articles to remove iTunes from your computer and then re install it. The articles outline the proper order to remove them in, and step by step instructions:
Remove and Reinstall iTunes and other software components from Windows XP
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • Moving files/folders in Finder, a headache

    10.8 and 10.9 become a headache copying/moving files/folders between disks.
After download selected images to my Imac from cards I used to move all of them to a local network backup disk (attached to a linux OS)
I don't do this anymore from a year ago: annoying warnings like "the file ... is in use" (not in use, even had been downloaded) stopped move; repeated procedure with the rest of the files included the 'used' one, over and over again and finally, after 12 times or so all files had moved. 100 files to move, stop, 80 files to move, stop, 60 files.......
Same problem moving files between disks attached to the same iMac.
'You have to provide an admin password...." -> Continue   Password set and again 'File ... is in use' (not in use, it is just backup file)
    Reseting the Mac.  Worse
.'You have to provide an admin password...."  No 'Continue' option, just only 'Ok' that will do.... nothing.
My solution: Terminal: sudo mv source target
I guess Finder has been tought to make life easier, isn't it?

According to reports, if the filing protocol is SMB, you can sometimes work around the problem by forcing a CIFS connection instead. To do that, first disconnect from the file server, then select
              Go ▹ Connect to Server
from the Finder menu bar, or press the key combination command-K. Then enter
    cifs://server-address
in the dialog that opens, where server-address is the IP address or domain name of the server.
Some other ideas for solving or working around the problem can be found in this thread. I haven't tested any of them.

  • Moved Public Folders - 4 System Folders wont Remove

I have moved Public Folders from one Exchange 2007 Server to another Exchange 2007 Server using the ./movereplicas script.  All Folders have replicated ok, but on the old server which I want to decomission I am unable to remove the public
folder DB because it says not all folders have replicated.
If I run Get-publicfolderstatistics on both servers I am left with 4 system folders on the old server.  These seem to have replicated across to the new server ok - the item count is higher on the new server.
I have tried running the script again, but these 4 folders never get removed.  The folders are OAB, Store Events which have an item count of 0 on both serversthese two are higher on the new Public Folder DB.
    Hope someone can advise
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi,
If they're system folders you don't need, like those other than SCHEDULE+ FREE BUSY, OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK and EFORMS REGISTRY (if you use Organizational Forms), then you can delete them.
Based on the description, it looks like the four system folders have replicas on another Exchange 2007 server, you can just delete these system folders.

  • After the recent update, my documents moved from Finder to Word.  When I moved the folders to Finder, I am unable to attach a file to an e-mail.  Any Suggestions?

After the recent update, my documents moved from Finder to Word.  When I moved the folders to Finder, I am unable to attach a file to an e-mail.  Any Suggestions?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste (command-V) into the text box that opens, then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
I've seen an unconfirmed report that the "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you might need to remove it as well, if applicable.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Users keep moving network folders

Is there a way that I can prevent users from deleting/moving network folders for instance
\\SBSServer\SharedFolderFolder A.  They need read/write access but a lot of times they will drag 'Folder a' into 'folder b' so no one can find 'folder a' anymore.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi markolt4,
Based on your description, I understand that you want to restrict users to moving share folders. Please refer
to the following similar thread and check if can help you to achieve this target.
    Need
to restrict the ability for a user to move or delete common folder
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.

If you have facing pages, you have to set up the document with facing pages that is what is it for. If you have a spreadwide design as above, keep the spreads together. There is not even one reason not to do so.
Only for wire-O-bindings might a different workflow useful, but also with facing pages documents and only when the left page and the right page have not a spread wide design:
//// I did one mistake, I created a doument with a right binding, but it would work the same way with left binding.)
    1. Create a document with Facing Pages.
    2. Select the Spread in the Page Panel (Window > Page Panel) and in the panel’s flyout menu deselect "Allow Selected Spread to Shuffle". The spread’s page number will appear in brackets.
    3. Select a single page of the spread and drag it to the side until a vertical bar appears.
    4. Now you have the result.
Left and right pages have their own spread and will have a bleed around each page without taking information from the other page.

  • Moving iWeb to a new computer

i have just taken delivery of my new macbook pro and I want to move the maintenance of my iWeb generated web site on to the new computer - how do I do it?

    Hi Brian
The first thing to do is launch and then quit iWeb on the new MBP, this creates a couple of folders and files.
Next, on the PB, navigate to User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
You are now going to copy this file to the same location on the MBP, there will already be one there (you creates it above). As long as you haven't done any work in iWeb on the MBP then you can simply Trash the existing domain file and replace it with the one from the PB.
Now launch iWeb and you should see you old site on your new computer.
Some might suggest moving the preference file as well:
    User/Library/Preference/com.apple.iWeb.plist
I would just go with the domain file first and see how you do.
Of course, if you are copying the whole of your old Home folder across then it should be there.
Having done this, I would suggest doing a Publish All, I am not sure if any changes happen to blog naming etc when moving from PPC to Intel. Someone else felt that it might have for them.

  • Organizing Files is moving all folders up one level???

I noticed just recently that when I use the Automatically Add To iTunes folder that Artist folder was being created at the top level of the Library folder, rather than under Music. I tried checking and unchecking Pref for Organzing to no vail. iTunes now insists on moving or creating Artist at the same level in the folder hirarchy as Music. Also noticing this with Books, etc. Library Path hasn't changed. What gives????
I also note that the option to File>Liobrary>Reorganize files in the folder "Media" has reappeared. It used to be grayed out. So, I checked that and Consolidate and hoping it will get straightened out.
I have a large library with ~50K songs, so this thrashing my NAS is annoying.

iWeb publishes your website files in a folder with the name of your website. If this folder is uploaded to the root folder on your server you will get the double barreled URL.
The answer is to publish your site to a local folder and upload the contents of the folder with an FTP application - not the folder itself.

PF DB is arounf 90 GB with alot of public folders and sub-folders. around 60 mail PF and too many subfolders.

First and the most important thing you need to do is, upgrade exchange 2010 to SP2 and RU5.
Exchange 2010 RTM support is long gone.

  • Help Moving iWeb site to a windows PC

My objective is to create a site using iWeb and move that site to a standalone PC and use Firefox to read the site folder and run the site. Not needing any internet. The files are too large anyway.
I have created the iWeb site with many videos from iMovie. In iWeb I have "published to folder" and then I point Firefox to the folder and browse and check all the links and videos. It all works fine on the Mac.
The first question I have is that I assumed the "publish to folder" would contain all the needed files for the site (including the videos). In looking at the folder that was created, it only contains the pages, etc. Not the actual videos. So part of the question is that when I move the site to a PC I guess I need to find and move the videos also? What about the directory structure that iWeb is expecting?
The second question is how to get this large site to a PC? Someone recommended connecting the Mac and PC with an eithernet cable. Someone also suggested using a portable Harddrive formatted as FAT32. Too big for a thumb drive.
If someone could guide me through this I would appreciate it.
    Thank you.

I assumed the "publish to folder" would contain all the needed files for the site (including the videos).
    That's correct.
In looking at the folder that was created, it only contains the pages, etc.
It should also contain folders, with names like pagename_files and Media, that contain images, videos ,etc.

  • Why is moving between folders glacial, while file renaming instantaneous?

Any ideas as to why moving images between folders are glacial (1-2 per second), while file renaming instantaneous?
Both do the similar operations to the file system, both need to update the SQLite entry for the file, but orders of magnitude between their performance? This on a recent Macbook Pro, running "all" Lr versions including 4.1beta with the catalog (120' images) on a SSD, while the images are stored on a FW800-attached disk.

IIRC, there have been reports that this problem can be avoided (more or less) by not having the Grid shown during the move (due to LR not trying to update the Grid).

  • Moving iWeb from iLife06 to iLife08

    Hi-
What is the correct method to move my "Domain" file that I saved from 06 and Tiger on my extHD, to my new Leopard system with iLife08? Thanks, Tim

    Hi-
I tried what you suggested and it seemed to have all my stuff on the iWeb, but all the folders are red/ not published, and there is an update window that opens. I click update, and it says updating, and then finally, it says there is not enough space on the disk. What am I doing wrong, and is there something I should so differently? I can reinstall iLife08 if necessary.??
    Thanks
