Moving iWeb from iLife06 to iLife08

Hi-
What is the correct method to move my "Domain" file that I saved from 06 and Tiger on my extHD, to my new Leopard system with iLife08? Thanks, Tim

Hi-
I tried what you suggested and it seemed to have all my stuff on the iWeb, but all the folders are red/ not published, and there is an update window that opens. I click update, and it says updating, and then finally, it says there is not enough space on the disk. What am I doing wrong, and is there something I should so differently? I can reinstall iLife08 if necessary.??
Thanks

    I just got a new MacPro and I need to move my iWeb from my old G5 to the new Mac.
    Can't figure out how to do this.

    It's the same only the accounts are on two different Macs. Copy the Domain.sites2 file into the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on the destination Mac.

  • Moving iWeb from desktop to laptop

    I need to transition iWeb from my desktop iMac to my Macbook as I'm hitting the road for a few months. Ideally I'd like to be able to open a synced version of iWeb on both machines that let me use either to access and update the same website...
    But for now, I just want to drag the right files over to my laptop so I can open iWeb and hit the ground running. Anyone have the right answer? Thanks.

    If you have a .Mac account you can place the Domain file on your iDisk. When you wanna work with your web site you just open your iDisk and double click on the file. This way you can work on both your desktop and laptop with the site and you don't risk to lose your thumbdrive with the file in it.

  • Moving iWeb from old computer to new

    I just bought a new computer with iLife 08, the old computer has iLife 06. How do I move my website from iWeb to the new computer? I saw one internet suggestion that I look for a file in users/myname/library/application support/iweb. This folder does not exist on my old computer. Thanks for any help.

    On the old computer the domain file for iweb is only in the library folder under the main HD and not in the user library. I copied this Domain, and on the new computer the only iweb folder was in the user library (which there is only one user) so I pasted the domain file there. This did not work, when I open iweb I still get he start up for new user screen.

  • Moving IWEB from one MacBook to MacBook Pro

    Hello - Just purchased new MacBook Pro. I was told to buy the firewall cable and just push "T" and everything would transfer. This was not really true. Things ended up in a muddle. One problem is the IWEB. It did not transfer with all blog entries. The blog www.curioustidbits.com is online accurately. It's on the old Macbook correctly but it is only 1/2 there on the new Mac. What would be the best course of action to get all the info on the Pro? Thank you.

    Perhaps NOTE 1 in this article is relevant:

  • Moving iWeb to my iDisk so I can access it from two different machines

    Hi,
    Wondering if anyone has any experience in updating iWeb from more than one Mac?
    I've just migrated from my old MacBook (running Tiger) to my new MacBook Air (running Snow Leopard). The migration has of course brought over all my iWeb files as well. As my MacBook Air is for travelling, I would ideally like to leave most of the the management of my iWeb sites to my old compouter which will stay at home and continue as usual. However it would be also be convenient if I could alter the iWeb sites with my Air from time to time.
    I've read that all the details and files for iWeb sites are stored in the "Domain" file in /Library/Application Support/iWeb/ , however I now have two Domain files, one on each computer, and I'm terrified to change anything using the new one in case I corrupt the websites...
    Could I move one of these "Domain" files to my iDisk, so the iDisk version could be the "master". That way, when I want to alter something, I could connect to the iDisk using iWeb on whichever computer I'm using (if that is possible), and alter the details there on the iDisk so there are no conflicts.
    It might be an issue that my old Macbook is running iWeb'08 and Tiger, and my new one is running iWeb '09 and Snow Leopard? If this would make it impossible then I'd delete all iWeb sites from the new MacBook Air except I'm afraid that might delete the websites from the server, as both computers are linked to the same MobileMe account!
    I'd be very grateful for any advice, even if it's only how to safely delete the site from the new computer.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Do you know though if it's possible as a concept to store the iWeb Domain file straight onto your iDisk and therefore modify the iDisk copy directly (as the master) every time you open iWeb on your mac?
    Sarah ~ I've never tried that, but perhaps it's possible. Once you've transferred the Domain file to iDisk, double-clicking it there should open your site in iWeb. And iWeb should remember that location in future so that when you open iWeb (rather than the Domain file), it will open the Domain file that's on iDisk.
    But even if that were to work, I think it's riskier than the normal case of working from the Domain file on your Mac. You'll still need to separately backup the Domain file on iDisk and, when you do a Save or Publish, iWeb will have to update the Domain file on iDisk — which will take more time than usual and perhaps cause iWeb to think there's a problem.
    Perhaps others would differ, but I think it's best to have your "master" Domain file on your Mac and, after updating your site, copy the Domain to iDisk for backup. The Backup app in your Applications folder can be used to do this...
    Once you've created a "Plan" in the Backup app, click on the Plan menu and choose Full Backup — which will add (rather than incrementally modify) a new copy of the Domain file to iDisk. And, as time passes, manually delete previous Domain file backups from iDisk that you no longer need. To confirm that the Backup app has copied your Domain file to iDisk, go here:
    http://www.me.com/idisk
    ...and click on the Backup folder in Home. To delete an unneeded backup from that folder, select the backup and then click the Trash icon.

  • Moving Favorites from PC to Mac

    Hello,
    I'm moving favorites from IE 7 on Windows XP to Mac Leopard. Do I just move the files over and import or is there something specific regarding conversions I need to complete? Thanks.

    Hi theBigD23,
    Save your Favorites in IE 7 to the desktop (or wherever you want). Use a flash drive, email the file to yourself, or any method at your disposal to get that file over to the Mac.
    In Safari, choose File > Import Bookmarks. Navigate to the bookmark file from the PC and click Import.

  • Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original location - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it

    Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original locations - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it - also, when transferring large amounts of files it becomes a very large problem remembering which files were transferred and which not.

    You're going to need to be more specific, as I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about.
    If you're referring to copying from an external hard drive or flash drive, and you want to actually move files rather than copy them, you can hold down the option key to force it to do a "move" rather than a "copy." This is not new behavior, though... the Mac OS has worked this way as long as I can recall (and I've been using it since 1984).
    If you're having a problem with trying to move files from one place to another on a single drive causing them to be copied instead, that is likely because of some permissions issue preventing you from actually being able to move them.

  • Can I stop iWeb from putting a page name at the top?

    I don't want page names across the top in iWeb. I have a list of hyperlinked icons on the side for that.
    Can anyone tell me how to stop iWeb from putting the page name on the page?
    Thanks.

    The script is for the text in the browser title bar.
    The title is taken from the large textbox at the top of each webpage.
    If that box is missing or empty, iWeb uses a next textbox for the title.
    If that is missing too, the pagename is used for the title.
    If you want the title in the titlebar but not the large textbox on your page, select the textbox, do Cm-T and drag the font-size slider to the bottom.
    Then click the color next to the T-icon and drag that opacity slider to the left (0).
    Then resize the textbox to it minimun size and drag it out of view. And don't forget you did.
    But I think the OP means the navigation links at the top.

  • How can I preserve the date and time of photos when moving them from iPhone to iPhoto and then to other folders on my computer?

    In the past I’ve had no problem moving photos from my iPhone 4 into various folders on my computer while retaining their original date and time. I would import into iPhoto, then drag the photos from iPhoto into other folders via the Finder or Adobe Bridge (which is my principal image organizer). The original date and time of the photo would always travel with the jpeg into iPhoto and then into other folders. However, sometime during a recent session transferring photos in this way, the dates of the photos started to change at the point when I copied them out of iPhoto. Within iPhoto itself, the various original dates of the photos are retained. But in Finder and Bridge, copies of those same photos all carry the same (worthless) date: the date and time that they were imported from my iPhone. I can’t figure out what would have changed on my Mac to make it start re-dating my photos. I was happily dragging and dropping photos, and suddently I started to lose the original dates. Did I inadvertently change some settings? (I am running OS 10.6.8 and using iPhoto 8.)

    (I use iPhoto only to import from my iPhone; I organize all my images, including thousands of RAW files, in folders on a big external drive.)
    Why are you using iPhoto at all? use image capture or drag and drop the photos
    The problem is that the files I am copying are getting stripped of the EXIF metadata
    eliminating iPhoto from your work flow will eliminate one oppertunity to have this happen  For photos in iPhoto it is best to export them rather than drag an drop them - this assures your EXIF and IPTC data is correct and uptodate
    Why would I be able, over many years, to retain EXIF metadata in photos imported from an iPhone--then one day find that the same workflow strips such photos of EXIF data?
    Because exporting is the supported way to "export" photos - I never drag and drop photos out of iPhoto and I never use thrid party programs on the photos in the iPhoto library - try exporting as suggested above and see if that is the solution

  • Process of moving TR from Quality to Production

    Dear Experts,
    we are in a process of moving TR from Quality to Production. While moving we faced transport incositencies like some old requests have been overwritten into the new one and dependant objects were failed during import in PRD. Now production rehearsal client is kind of messed up. what is the right procedure to transport the requests from Quality to Production. (actually we transferred the TR individually based on the list send by the respectivr module owners). Please help me to findout the solution for this issue.
    regards,
    Yasin.

    Hi,
    This situation comes every now & then when you don't have any client strategy define in your landscape I'm not blaming you but for your Project Manager and then rest of the team adopt SAP standard practice if you really want things to go well act NOW..!! here is the basic to start:
    Ex,
    DEV ::
    100 => Golden Client
    200 => Customizing Client
    300 => Test Client
    Things to check before importing request in QAS :
    1) Always get the request in sequence format ask the owner of the request for the sequence to avoid dependency issues
    2) Technical Specification doc - this doc will be prepare by Functional / Developer on what changes are included in TR
    QAS::
    400 => Quality Client
    Things to check before importing request in PRD :
    1) User acceptance doc i.e UAT - client / customer will check the functionality if it's on then move this to PRD
    2) Get the request in sequence format
    3) Approval for production transport
    PRD::
    500 => Production Client
    Thanks,
    Saleem
