Moving iweb/mobileme archive files to wordpress

I was able to pull my more current posts from my iweb/mobile me site to my new site using an xml import. However, the xml file for older posts in the archive only contains headlines - no copy which means it facilitates importing a bunch of headlines and empty pages. Anyone know a work-around short of individually ftping the file for each archive post or copying and pasting into wordpress? I have a stored copy of the old site on my local hard drive so access is not a problem.
thanks!

You need to move the domain.sites folder from your computer to her computer.
Go to the Go menu in the Finder and in the field that opens up enter;
~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
You wil see the domain.site file in there. Move it to the same location on her computer.
All websites are stored as one project file in a single domain.sites file. So once you move it over to her computer you can open it up in iWeb and delete any other sites in there.

• Move iWeb MobileMe Blog to Wordpress

I had to migrate my private Blog about my 2 years old little daughter from Apples mobileme servers to a wordpress account.
I wanted to keep all the comments too (Marlas birth..). So i wrote a perl script to do the job. It is far from beeing perfect, but it works for me. So it may work for you too. You have to adjust some things, that‘s for sure.
Features:
-Keep Comments
-Keep Images (hmm mostly)
-Sets email-adresses for comments by Name
-Sets Tags by text strings occured in title or body
-Free, but my daughter will get every euro you donate! THX!
Note: The script works only while the apple servers are up. After 30. June all your comments are gone!

@MirkoW, would you like to wrap your pl script in an applescript app?
i can help you with that, so people like moopie can just double click and run your app without launching terminal.app.
sorry, i'm just can code some little perl. Applescript is completly new to me. I don't think it's worth the time since the mobileme servers are shut down in june.

Cyclosaurus, what an excellent idea! MirkoW, I gave it a try and got it to generate a file, but wasn't successful yet. I originally published my blog to a folder on my computer. The way my blog is set up, I have three separate sections, each with its own archive and RSS feed. Don't ask me why - it was the only way I could think to separate several different years of posts on my blog.
Hmm, we have to see if we can get the images right. The main problem is that iweb uses the same shapeimageXYZ.png shema for every post and wordpress need to have unique filenames. So my script is guessing the filenames wordpress makes out of them by importing. sorry my english is not as good it should for explaining in detail. Example
iWeb hat 2 posts both with
shapeimage_1.png
So the first post get's the filename shapeimage_1.png but the second post get's the filename shapeimage_11.png.
But what if you have later an image which has already the name shapeimage_11.png?
You got the problem?
For me it works with some tricks. so don't be afraid, i can look into it if you want.
moopie wrote:
Does the perl script need to be in the same folder as the posts I want to export?
No, the script does not use any local file, it get's all information directly from the mobileme servers.
Thanks for your patience - I do appreciate your help on this and I see the potential for your script. It's the closest thing to a solution I've seen so far. Worst case scenario, I'll get an engineer at work to help me figure out what to do!
can you give me the link to your blog? so i can look into the html code. I think that would be the fastest way to help you.

• My challenge: recovering original iWeb files from 2010-2011 timeframe, which included a blog consisting of original postings from me and comments posted to the web from family and friends. I have the web archive files - but did not move iWeb files then.

Background: I started this blog while living overseas and going to sea with the Navy. Missed the opportunity to move the iWeb files with content attached from the mobile.me server to another server. Now, I have the original web archive files - good - but not the comments added to them by family and friends - bad.
My ultimate objective is to create a hard-cover bound book of these files with the comments on the blog ... they document a rather significant experience in my family's life ... to do this, I need to recover the original files with postings.
Any thoughts or insight would be sincerely appreciated!
Thanks, cfwnavy

You have replied to a post that is a month old now and the OP has never replied, so you are probably wasting your time here.
If you read the OP's post and my reply, you will see that he will not be able to recover his blog and neither will you.
If your Mac was stolen and you did not back up your iWeb domain.sites files, then you CANNOT get your blog back.
If you published your site to a host/server, then you can download it back onto your Mac and you will have to re-build your blog/website from scratch and re-publish, but all your replies and responses to posts will be lost and you can never get these back.
My advice would be to re-create your blog in another format such as WordPress.com which is free and don't use iWeb again.
There are plenty of alternatives out there.

• Since moving from MobileMe to iCloud I can't seem to publish the update done on iWeb.

Does anyone know how I could figure out a way to publish my updates on iweb since moving from mobileme (the host) to icloud?
Thank you,

Do this:
go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
login with a bogus username and password like "Ying" and "Yang". This clears the caches.
login with your correct username and password.
launch iWeb and try again.

• Moving iWeb site from my iBook to my new iMac

Hi guys,
I'm having problems with moving my iWeb website to my new iMac. I have tried moving the domain file from the User>Library>Application Support>iWeb folder into the same location on my new computer and, yes, it does indeed work. However when I come to publish the site it appears that it cannot connect to MobileMe in order to upload. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas as I really need to get my portfolio published online!
Thanks
Ben

Are you able to publish to a folder? If you can the problem is not with the domain file. So try the following:
1 - copy the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Shared folder on your Mac.
2 - Create a new account on your mac or log into another existing account.
3 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log into your MMe account.
4 - move the Domain file from the Shared folder to your desktop and double click on it.
5 - try to publish from there.
Note: if you don't have permission to open that domain file you can set the permissions as follows:
download and run BatChmod on the Domaine.sites2 file with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name in the owner section and Staff in the group section. You can either type in the path to the file or just drag the file into that field.
If you're not able to publish then the issue is with iWeb and a reinstall of iWeb is warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iWeb" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
If you're able to publish from the other account then your primary account is suspect. It could be a preference file other than iWeb's. Here's how to determine if that's the case.
Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - Make a duplicate copy of the Preferences A folder on the Desktop as a precautionary backup.
4 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
5 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here.
6 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it.

• Transfer iweb/mobile me site to wordpress

I moved my iweb/mobile me site to wordpress over the weekend, in the process losing access to the old hosted iweb site and the comments that had been posted. Anyone know how to access those old pages now that my domain points to my new wordpress site?

• Any way to set up iWeb pages for file download / sharing?

I have been using .Mac Homepage to set up several web pages to share audio files with my clients. I have been able to set up a different web page for each client, each with their own password, with files there for them to download.
Is there a way to duplicate this using iWeb now that .mac homepage sites are going away? I don't want the audio to stream, I just want to make the files available for downloading, and don't see any page templates in iWeb '08 for file downloading.
I know that I can use mobileme's new file sharing feature to email links to individual files, but this doesn't work as well as having all the files downloadable on one or more web pages.

If you have all of the sites in one domain file you should be able to upload only the changed pages but it's been a while since I used 08 so don't remember. You can move each site into its own domain file so that only that site is edited and published. And if you're publishing directly to mobile me only the edited files should be uploaded.
I use iWebSites to manage over 75 individual sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want. Make sure you're running the lastest version of iWeb, 2.0.4 I believe.
An example of files set up for immediate download is Toad's Cellar. Each linked is linked to a zipped file which downloads when clicked on. The site could be password protected if so desired.

• How to Archive files present in application server?

Hi all,
We have one report which will be run as batch job for every 5 min. and creates files in application server. Our requirement is when ever this report is run the files present in the application server folder(Which are created during previous execution) should be moved to an Archive folder and new files will be created in the original folder. So at any point of time the original folder have the files created during latest execution of the report only. Can any one tell me how to achieve this requirement. <REMOVED BY MODERATOR>

• Capture stuck at one archive file

I have set up a 1-to-1 one-way streams replication in Oracle 10.2. (schema level capture).
Source DB (SRC)& destination DB (DEST) on : SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP2 (ia64)
The capture, propagation and apply did run okay for few hours. Now I find that the capture is stuck at a particular archive file and not moving further. I also registered the archives manually using:
alter database register or replace logical logfile ....
This also has not helped.
Please help. Thanks.

We suppose that you have already tried to stop/start the capture.
Creating LCR is an Internal Streams action which cannot be impeded by any form of data locking. So you are facing a database resource constraints (library cache lock on a streams structure) or an archive log corruption, usually after a file system full with 2 destination registered and you retook the archive which was on the file system full(I already met this once).

• Moving Events and archiving videos directly from Canon HF100 to External HD

Hello,
After purchasing my Macbook and my canon HF100 camcorder I got too carried away and excitedly imported too many videos to Imovie. When the Macbook had no more space to import new movies, without reading instructions ( NOW I KNOW... ALWAYS to read instructions first) I archived the videos directly onto an external HD ( 500 gb FAT 32 format).
Now in order to free up some space I tried to move the existing events and projects from macbook to the same hard drive , but the HD icon has a yellow exclamation mark, which I now know means that it has to be formatted to MAC OS. and MAcbook will not allow moving of any events or projects to the hard drive..
My problem as below:
1- If I format my external HD now, it would loose all the previous data etc which I do not want. Since the directly archived videos are stored in FAT 32, does that mean they are now unusable for I Movie import? What should I do next in order to store the currently archived movies properly that Mac recognizes and reads the data correctly?
2-I need to free up space on my macbook as soon as possible as the startup disk is totally full. I do not want to buy another external HD to move my data but i do already possess an I book external hard drive which is also Fat 32 format and has photos etc.. which I do not want to loose by formatting it.
Can I copy all the files from my external HD ( where I archived the movies) to the I book ( where there are other movies and photos from windows computer) which is FAT 32 format and then format it to MAC OS and re transfer the archived movies back. Will Macbook recognize the files then?
All the videos and photos are very precious to me and I do not want to lose them. Any help with my problem is highly appreciated. I wait eagerly for an answer. Many thanks in advance.

Do I need to create a seperate folder for the RAW archived files which are yet to be processed by I >movie?
In general, you want to be able to move it back exactly as it was, you can drag it over to the iBook, then drag it back. If it helps to put everything under one folder to do this, that is OK. When you move it back, make sure it looks like it looked before you moved it.
Can the RAW files be transferred to a FAT 32 HD without formatting to MAC OS.. will this not >corrupt the data?
Probably. I'm guessing you are using an 8GB SDHC card or similar with your Canon. If you put your card in a card reader on your Mac you should see it in the Finder (or you can connect your camera directly). If you see it in the Finder, do a right-click/Get Info. I would bet that your SDHC is formatted as FAT32. So if the original camera is Fat32, you know that FAT32 is fine for the archive.
Here is why. FAT32 has an architectural limitation for file sizes. Files cannot be more than 4GB (minus one byte) - or 3.999999999 GB.
The files on the camera are highly compressed AVCHD. Further, you would typically press record and stop several times while shooting, so no one clip is going to be bigger than 3.999999999GB. The only way you would exceed this is if you recorded a 2 hour event by pressing the record button once and letting it run without stopping. Even then, Canon probably has a workaround where they divide it up into 2 files that are each smaller than 3.999999999GB.
So if the camera can accept FAT32, why can't iMovie? The reason is that on import, iMOvie converts the highly compressed AVCHD into full frames of Apple Intermediate Codec. The file size will typically increase by a factor of 8 to 10. So now it is quite possible to have a clip that exceeds the 4GB limitation. So iMovie does not allow FAT32 as a valid file structure.

• Archiving files

Hi all,
I am doing the file-file scenario, we are using FTP server where i need to archive the files in another directory after the file was processed.
i did with processing mode -- Archive mode but i am not getting deleted in the existing directory and no file was created in the Archive directory..
do we need any authorization for the ftp server for the folder which we access, but i am having all the rights such as delete a file copy and pase the file, any other authorizations do we need to provide..
so give some inputs regarding to this...
regards,
Kishore

Hi Sudhir,
Please make sure that you have the Write permission for the user ID for the archive folder.
archive and archiveWithTimestamp mean that successfully processed files are moved to an archive directory.
In archive mode, the file name is copied unchanged. If a file with the same name already exists in the archive directory, it is overwritten.
In the archiveWithTimestamp mode, a time stamp including the date and time is added to the file name. The format of the time stamp is yyyyMMdd-hhMMss-SSS_, where yyyy specifies a year and SSS the number of milliseconds. As a result, files can be sorted according to the time they entered the archive directory, irrespective of the file name. This also stops files with the same name being overwritten.
In the case of both processing types, the archive directory must be specified using the following parameters:
■ file.archiveDir=<archiveDir>
This parameter is mandatory for these processing types.
Thanks

• Command or utility to archive files unmodified in over 730 days

Hi,
I need to find a way to archive files that are over 2 years old, ideally on a weekly basis, and have them moved to an archive volume, maintaining folder structure. I'm not good at writing scripts, and beyond that, even once i locate all of the files meeting the criteria (unmodified in 730 days) i have no idea how to merge them with my existing, ongoing archive. I think I've tried every 3rd party software I've been able to locate. I really need help with this, if anyone has the knowledge and patience to help me out.
Thank you,
Peter

This should work:
find ~ -not -newermt '2 years ago' -exec tar -uPvf archive.tar {} ;
As this uses the update flag, the tar file must exist, so use -c in place of -u on the first run
You can run find again with rm (i.e. find ~ -not -newermt '2 years ago' -exec rm {} ;) to then delete the files, but I would be very careful with this, perhaps using rm -i to confirm deletion

• Archive Files Log Backup in DB2

Hi,
I have archived files moved to /db2/TXT/log_archive from /db2/TXT/log_dir.
I have very less space configured for /db2/TXT/log_archive file system.
I don't have tape drive connected to production server to take backup of Archive log file to TAPE using DB13.
Currently I am taking Database backup to DISK not to TAPE and would like to take the archive log files (Offline transaction logs) backup also to DISK.
Please let me know the way out for this situation
Thanks

Hello,
I think brtools for this (brarchive) is not usable for db2 because this is typical for oracle and not supported for db2. For more information about the log management see note 913481.
Which DB2 version you´re using? If it is 9.5 the standard is an online backup includes logs so you´ve your archived log file in the online backup. If you´re using a DB2 version smaller then 9.5 you can include the parameter "include logs" in your backup command.

• Unable to get Field Names from Archived File

Hi All,
We have a ECC 6 Ehp4 system. When i retrieve Idocs archived using SARA, the data only contains application data. There is no field names available - eg: posting date, tax code etc. Please find below the background on this issue.
I configured archiving of process idocs (status 52,12,03) from EDIDC tables. I set up the settings for Archive Object IDOC and archived the data for 15 days.
Both archiving and deletion of data from the table was successful.
I tried reading the Idoc data from Archive File using the Information System option -> Info structure (available as default for Idoc).
But the data retrieved only shows the Application data for all the segments of the IDoc. The fields for the segments like Tax Code, Posting Date etc are not available in the data. Functional teams will not be able to make sense with just the application data.
Am I missing some setting? Is there any way to retrieve the related field values also ?
Please help.
Thanks and Regards,
Raghavan

Hi All,
There is tcode WE10. You could choose if the data source is archive and also the archive session. You will get the list of segments provided. click on the segment number and you will get the data.
