  • Help with moving files to another computer

Hello.  I need some help if anyone is willing.  I am partially rebuilding my computer.  I am replacing the hard drive and going from from XP to Windows 7.  I have an eSata drive where all my XDCAM-ex footage is located and that drive is staying the same.  I have a couple Encore projects as well as related Premiere projects (CS4).  How do I do that and get all the files that I need?  Can I just open the project, choose Save As and save the file on the eSata drive?  I noticed that on Premiere pro offers a Save a copy...so that is what I have already done for that.  Or is it much more compicated?
    Thanks for any help,
    Mark

For Premiere you will need the project file and all media assets transferred.  Preview, conformed audio (.cfa) and peak files (.pek) need not be moved.  Premiere will regenerate them when required.  (Though there certainly is no harm in moving them as well.)
Encore needs the project file, as well as the entire project folder of the same name.  Plus any assets used in the project (video/audio/menus).

  • Trouble with drag and moving files to another computer through network.

I have a user trying to move a(any) files from his lion laptop to his snow leopard office desktop through the network. He has no problems with moving the file from snow leopard to lion, its the other way around that doesn't work. When he first moves the files, it instantly creates the ghost file on his office desktop, it then prompts Keep both files, stop or replace. Replace will tell you there is already one there and cannot replace. Stop will keep the ghost file that gets created but there's nothing in there. Keep both files will actually keep duplicating until you hit the "X", a few seconds will get you over hundreds of these duplicated files.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look here, this will tell you how to authorise you second computer: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Migrating Lightroom to another computer

Hello: I just got a new computer and I imagine that there must be a way to migrate all of the Lightroom 'stuff' over. My old computer used XP while the new one is Windows 7 which is initially a bit confusing. The old HD is temporarily connected to the new computer while I migrate other folders. Perhaps one just migrates the image folders and starts from scratch - sounds like a terrible idea!
Am I allowed a second question? Can I just download the trial version of Lightroom then insert my key to make it 'legitimate'?
    Thanks very much.

    Yes.
As to the move: You might want to read up on this article in Victoria Bamptons blog which is very helpful. If everything is done right, you won't lose anything of your work done.

  • My mac just turned off and wont turn on, i have another laptop, I was working on editing a photo shoot in lightroom. Is there a way I can log into my lightroom from another computer to access my catalog?

My macbook just turned off and will not turn back on. I have another laptop, I was editing a photoshoot, and I needed to access those photos. Is there anyway to log into my lightroom account from another laptop, so that I can access those?

Unfortunately, your Lr catalogue is stored on the original Mac, so just logging into your account would not work. As a Windows user in your situation, and if the need for speed was essential, I would remove the hard drive from the malfunctioning PCI and connect it to a working example and try to access the catalogue from  an installation of Lr on that one. Is that at all possible with your Mac setup?
Edit: do you have separate backups of your catalogue, in the cloud for instance, but can the catalogue held there be installed on a different Mac? I 've no idea if this is possible, but if you're a professional facing a deadline etc, it might be worthwhile investigating this possibility if it's impossible to move the hard drive as I suggested above.

  • Moving project to another computer with content on a different drive letter.

I have to install a Premiere Pro Film Project with almost 1 TB linked raw materual on a new computer.
on the old computer the project files were under "E" :
    01_PROJECT_FILES
    02_FOOTAGE
    03_AUDIO
    04_GRAPHICS
    05_OUTPUT
    06_MASTER
    07_ENCODINGS
    08_SUBTITLES
    09_ERROR
    10_AE
Except for the Folder 01_PROJECT_ FILES all other folders were empty on "E". All the folders on E are also on an external drive, which was always called "H". On the external drive all the folders are full except for the first folder 01_PROJECT_FILES which is empty. My question: where do I import/ copy the Folder from E 01_Project_Files? On the 500 GB Samsung EVO SSD, which is called "C" on my new computer or the normal drive 1000 GB HDD 5400U/min., which is called "D", or do I have to create an extra partition called "E" on my new computer? I just want to prevent to link all  the raw material again to the project.

Thank you! Its really great. Because I only had the project files on the internal drive of the old computer and all the footage on an external drive, which I always called "H", I could copy the media folder with the project files on the SSD drive of the new computer. And then I just  renamed the external drive "H" and I didn't have to relink a single file. Everything was linked correctely after opening the project file (also the older versions).
Thank you! I am so happy not having to relink every single file.
    Best regards!

  • Need help moving itunes to another computer

I got a new computer and I don't know how to move my library from my old computer to the new one. Any help would be great.

  • How do I re-open my domain after moving it to another computer?

I recently got a new computer and saved my domain from my old computer on the desktop as domain copy.  iWeb is not opening it! Any suggestions as to how I can open it?

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • I installed Lightroom on another computer and it tells me my serial number is incorrect. What should I do?

I don't get any other error message.

Check your Adobe account online to confirm if you are using the correct serial number or not (Find your serial number quickly)... if you registered the product then the serial number should be there.  If you determine that the serial number is correct then contact Adobe suppport using chat when they are available to get their help resolving the problem.

  • Moving FCP to another computer

I have FCP6 loaded on two machines currently. I want to remove it it from my G5 and load it on my MBP. I also have it installed on my Mac Pro.
Do I delete the software from the G5 and just re-install FCP6 on my MBP?
Is there a license ID that needs to be dealt with?
    Thanks

  • Trouble moving projects from one computer to another

In the prospect of clearing up space, I am moving projects from my hard drive to an external.  In order to make sure things are moving properly I open up a project from the external onto another computer, different from the one I moved the projects off of.  When I open up the project, part of the original footage (.MTS file) does not show up in the timeline.  The blue rectangle that represents the footage is striped.  When I open up the exact same project onto the original computer from the external everything is fine.
Also, when I was opening up a project from the external to the other computer the "Locate Media" pop up appears wanting me to link all the media, but all the media has been checked off, as if all the media has already been found.  Why does it do this?
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Hi Josh,
Check this out: Moving projects to another computer: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1BF3BAAB-A930-44e3-8DFA-50D5C58A1A1Aa.h tml#WS3D22F379-B6C7-4d8c-9548-26AA3E1EA74F
Likely you have some of the MTS file structure missing. The best way to move projects, IMHO, is to use the Project Manager.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

How do I get all my photos in lightroom to another computer when I haven't exported all of them?

Exporting is not a part of the process!

  • How do I transfer keywords in Lightroom from one computer to another?

How do I transfer keywords in Lightroom from one computer to another?

You know, in the one screen capture, from the old computer, we can see that the photo has the keyword "bees"
In the other screen capture, from the new computer, we cannot see the keyword "bees"
And better yet, show us the Keywording Panel instead of the Keyword List Panel
I am also concerned that you are showing us the original catalog on the new computer that you created via importing the photos. That's not what we want to see.
So please confirm  that you are using the catalog file that was copied from the old computer, and when placed on the new computer, you double-clicked on that exact catalog file, and then created the screen capture. Please confirm that you are NOT looking at the catalog you created by importing the photos.

  • Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem.  When I want to add songs, I get itunes message that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music?

Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem on a Dell computer.  But now when I want to add songs, I get itunes message of death that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music without erasing everything on my new iphone?

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me.  Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?
