Moving Logic Express to a new computer

I recently purchased a new iMac Core Duo and I was wondering if it is possible to install a copy of Logic Express 8, that I had installed on my old computer, on my new one. I put in the installation disk and entered the serial number that came with the software when I originally purchased it but the installer said my serial number was not valid (I'm assuming because I entered it during the instalation of the program on my old machine).
Is there any way I can install this software on my new computer without having to purchase it again???
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance!!

Make sure you didn't do a typo when entering your serial number. There's no reason your serial number is not valid anymore

I moved my iTunes files from my old computer to an external hard drive.  I then moved those files to the new computer. My computer and iPad are not linking up (recognizing each other?).  I installed the latest version of iTunes onto the new computer to see if that would help.  It did not--I got the message that an iPad can only be linked up with one computer and the new download would not work with this iPod.  So the iTunes' library and my iPod are not connecting, and I have no way of installing or removing new songs onto my iPad.  What should I do to correct this?

Sorry, I had a typo.  The last sentence should have read "iPod" (iPad):  So the iTunes' library and my iPod are not connecting, and I have no way of installing or removing new songs onto my iPod.  What should I do to correct this?

  • I have moved my itunes to a  new computer and now my ipod will lnot sync with new line up

i have moved mu itunes to a new computer and my ipod will not sync with new music.

If you are using automatic syncing, you may need to set up the iPod's Music tab in iTunes.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Select Music there.  This is the Music tab, where you tell iTunes how to sync the iPod with songs.  Sync Music is checkmarked for automatic syncing.
If your entire iTunes music library can fit on the nano, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, create your selection of songs below.  For example, if you want to keep it simple, create a new playlist in iTunes.  Put ALL songs you want on the iPod on that playlist, including songs from the newly added music.  Back on the Music tab, find and checkmark that new playlist under Playlists.
When you click Apply, your selection of songs on the Music tab syncs to the iPod, replacing its current content.  Going forward, any changes that are related to the Music tab settings sync automatically when you connect the iPod, or when you click Sync.  So, if there is a playlist with your "iPod songs," you can just update that playlist (add and remove songs) whenever you want; iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes at the next opportunity.

  • Question about installing logic 9 upgrade on new computer

    Hello!
I just purchased a new mac pro (woo hoo... finally) and the logic 9 upgrade pack. I own Logic 8 but I'm not sure if I should install it before installing the logic 9 upgrade.
Will I miss out on any parts of the logic 8 sound library, loops, effects, etc by only installing logic 9? I have my S# and am aware installing Logic 8 is not needed, just curious if there are any advantages or disadvantages of installing.
    Thanks

My information, serial number, is not available.

You only need the serial numbers. During instal lyou will be asked for a qualifying product and then must input the serial number for LR3 as a secondary number. Mylenium

  • Downloading Expression Web to New Computer with Windows 8.1

I just purchased a new computer and thought I downloaded Expression Web 8.1. However nothing appears.

Well that didn't really tell us anything.
But we can't help you with your computer. We're just users, with no tech support resources. Expression Web is just a program, like any other; there's nothing special. You just have to install it after you download it.

  • N manually moving Safari data over to new computer, must I move the Safari plist?

Old computer is too old to use Migration Assistant, and since I'm moving hardly any of the old applications from 10.4 I'm getting ready to move all my data manually via Firewire.  Should I take or leave the old plist?

You only need .plist files for applications you will transfer over to the new computer.
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
The Knowledgebase article Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated refers to methods of dealing with migrating from PowerPC chips to Intel with the Migration Assistant safely. The authors of this tip have not had a chance to verify this works in all instances, or that it avoids the 10.6.1 and earlier Guest Account bug that caused account information to get deleted upon use of the Migration/Setup Assistant. However, a well backed up source that includes at least two backups of all the data that are not connected to your machine will help you avoid potential issues, should they arise. In event it does not work, follow the steps below.
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate.  Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
      1. Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
      2. Screensavers written for the PowerPC System Preference add-ons
      3. All Unsanity Haxies Browser and other plug-ins
      4. Contextual Menu Items
      5. Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5 Kernel extensions
      6. Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro , SuperDuper , and Drive Genius  work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard.  The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.  Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

      6. Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
      7. OS X Lion: How to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from another Mac
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.  The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode.  It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
      1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
      2. Backup your data.  This is vitally important in case you make a mistake
          or there's some other problem.
      3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
      4. Startup your old Mac in Transferring files between two computers using FireWire.
      5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and
registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your
desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
    2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

      c. MacBook Air - Remote Disc, Migration, or Remote Install Mac OS X and
          wireless 802.11n networks.
Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
/Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the  Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

  • After moving my music to a new computer, some of it is not able to be authorized

I've moved my music to my wife's computer (a Mac) under my own login, but now I've lost approximately 130 songs.  I can see them, but when I try to play them or put them on my iPhone the computer gives me a message that says I have to authorize that song on this computer.  When I try to authorize the computer, it tells me that the computer is already one of my authorized computers, but still doesn't give me permission to play my own music.  This is MY music - stuff I've purchased from the itunes store, but now I'm not able to play it - and $130 or more worth of music is alot to lose.  Please help!

On the new computer launch iTunes.
From the iTunes menu bar (top of your screen) click Store > Authorize This Computer
    Now try syncing your iPod.

  • How to transfer logic pro to a new computer

I have Logic Pro installed on 2 MBP's. I want to move one copy to a different MBP. How do i transfer Logic and it's license over to my new computer?
    Thanks!

Just reinstall=ing Logic never seems to do much and is considered basically a waste of time in almost every case...
So.. while the following is a PITA.. it's the most reliable method to get everything up and running on a new Mac....
    1) Reformat the System drive and install OS X using the Recovery partition...
Restart Mac (and when the gray screen appears), hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys.
Note: Dont simply reinstall OS X... Use the menu option to get to the Disk Utility... and reformat System Drive...Then install OS X..
    2) Install Logic Pro 9 Update only.... It will ask for both your LP8 and then LP9 serials so enter them...
    3) Update LP9 to 9.1.8 using this link...
    Logic Pro 9.1.8
    4) Test LP9 to ensure its all working
    5) Install the latest Audio/Midi drivers if needed..
    6) Test LP9 again....
    7) Install Kontakt (latest version) or Komplete if that's what you have... and update via NI's Service Center
    8) Test LP9 and Kontakt...
    9) Now install anything else you use...
    (10) Manually copy across all personal data, projects/photos/docs etc.. from old Mac via external HD or Thumb drive...
    Dont use Migration..........

  • HT204318 moving itunes library to a new computer with different partition letters

Want to move my itunes library to a different computer (actually my older computer, which will be a dedicated itunes box). I know how to do it, except for one thing - am not sure how it affects things that in its new home it will be on partition 'D' rather than 'E' where it is now.  Can I still just copy everything over (via external drive) or will everything be left with the wrong drive letter?

As long as you've moved the complete library (database, media folders, artwork, ...), and its in the "standard" layout where:
the iTunes Media folder is in the same folder that contains the database file (iTunes Library.itl), and
all your media files are contained within the hierarchy of folders under iTunes Media
you're fine.  First time you run after the change of drive letters, or moving the drive containing to another computer, hold down SHIFT while you start iTunes; when you get this prompt:
click on Choose Library..., navigate to the iTunes library folder on the drive holding the library, select the iTunes Library.itl file and click Open.

  • Why doesn't the info about moving iphone sysnc to a new computer work?

I read through these discussions.  I synced and backed up my iphone 4S on my ancient macbook pro that I was using when i synched the original iphone with and I have stuck with it for all these years because of the horrible way that Apple makes us migrate and was totally concerned about losing everything.  Well with the 5S and I have the new MB Pro with 16 GB ram and 740 GB SSD drive and retina I just wanted to finally get away from the ancient MB Pro.   found the mobile sync folder on the original MB Pro, i copied it to an external HD, transfered it to the new MB pro into the same folder which of course does not have a mobile sync folder but I copied it in to the enclosing folder.  I copied the entire itunes library and put it in the same named folder.  Then tried to sync and wanted to restore from the iphone back up and naturally the itunes software does not recognize its existence and Apple did not have the foresight to include a way to llow me to navigate and try to locate the folder.  So, after 5 hours of working at trying to get this done I had to give up and finish setting up the iphone without any of my old info.
Now, that the problem is set up - how do I go about getting all the info from the original 4S to the new 5S without retyping all the info or am i supposed to carry both iphones around from now one - one with the info I need and the other because it is new and shiny?
    Ideas appreciated.
    Thanks
    George

  • Now that I moved my itunes to a new computer why will my iphone and ipod touch not sync?

I just switched my itunes to my new laptop from my desktop (which no longer works).  Everything seemed to be ok after I updated to the newest version of itunes.  Now I cannot get my iphone (3G) and my ipod touch to sync at all.  In fact when I plugged in my ipod touch it erased everything I had on there.  I know these are older devices but I had no problems with syncing previously so why now?  Even the backups will not work.

You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. If you switch iTunes will erase the iPod and replaces the media with what is in the iTunes library of the new computer.
    You should have done this:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
You said "Even the backups will not work.". What happens when you try to restore from backup?
