Moving/merging a Google calendar to iCloud

I have a client with a proliferation of iCloud and Google Calendars,so that some of them overlap in function. For example, he's got both a "Work" calendar set up in iCloud and a "Work" calendar set up in Google Calendars. These have mostly different events. We want to simplify this by merging all overlapping calendars into single iCloud calendars, and also moving any unigue Google Calendars completely to iCloud. When we're finished we simply want a set of five or six iCloud calendars and no Google calendars.
I"ve tried to do this by exporting the particular Google calendar to a file via iCal's "Export" function, and then using iCal's "Import" function to load the events into the appropiate iCloud calendar. When I do this, I get the following error message pop up almost immediately:
Clicking on either of the choices does not seem to fix the issue, the message continues to pop up every few minutes.
Can anyone suggest a way to completely move and/or merge all the events in a Google calendar into an iCloud calendar?
Thanks!
BTW, we're running Mac OS10.8.2

vCards are for Contacts, not Calendars.

  • How can I move my Google calendar to iCloud calendar???

On the iPhone I sync the calendar and mail (without contacts) with google. I want to move the current Google calendar to iCloud and start syncing with it from now on.
I could export google calendar to an ical file but iCloud calendar doesn't have an import option. I don't have an Apple computer.
So, how can I back up all my google calendar entries into iCloud???
    Thanks!

So I solved this today.......I really wanted to switch everything over to iCloud calendar from Google Calendar (and had entries since 2008).....The easiest way to do this is using iCal on a Mac. The problem was I don't have a Mac. So I went down to my local Apple store (I guess you could use a friend's or work Mac as well). I asked them if I could use a Mac for a bit to get my iCloud calendar to work and was allowed to do so. Here's what I did....
I opened my google calendar on the store Mac's safari (or maybe it was firefox, I don't remember now)
I went into settings and found the export section. Then I exported all my calendars onto the desktop in a Zip file(I have 13 of them!)
Next I opened iCal on the Mac. I added 13 different calendar titles (I used the same titles from my Google calendar) under the add calendar setting (this would be so much easier if I didn't have so many different calendars)
Next I imported each calendar from the Zip file into their respective calendar titles(again this would be easy with fewer calendars but even with 13 of them it only took 10 minutes)
Finally I went to network settings, opened up iCloud setting and put in my user name and password. All my calendars uploaded to my iCloud calendar.
I opened iCloud calendar on safari and logged in. All my calendars were there. They weren't in the same colors as the one's on my google calendar but all of it was there (More on this later).
To finish up I deleted my iCloud account settings under network settings, deleted all the iCal entries, and logged off of the the iCloud and Google calendars (don't want anyone in my stuff)
When I got home I logged in to iCloud and changed the calendar colors to suit my preferences.
Sorry this was a bit long winded....all in all it took about 20-25 minutes and was really easy

  • Sync my Google Calendar in iCloud?

I added my google calendar to iCal but I cannot see it in icloud.com. What I have to do?

You cannot sync Google calendar with iCloud. You can have both running in iCal but Google can't see iCloud and vice versa.

  • How can I import my Google calendar to iCloud calendar via web or ios?

I've decided I want to move from contacts/calendar in gmail to icloud. I was going to do the same with mail, but it seems iCloud doesn't have the level of functionality that gmail does.
My problem is that all instructions for importing my gmail calendar into icloud require some sort of desktop (I use PC) mail/calendar program. I don't use one. I manage my mail & calendars purely on my iphone or on the website(s). How can I import my .ics file into iCloud calendar via either the iCloud web interface or via my iPhone?

The only possible way I could imagine it might work ( can't guarantee it ) is as followed.
#1 Your Google Calendar is synced with your iphoen and you go into settings to turn it off.
#2 It will ask you: "What would you like to do with excisting local calendars on your iphone", you click keep them on iphone.
#3 Now you sync your empty icloud calendar with your iphone and hopefully the local calendar would sync on your icloud calendar?
Might work...not sure, play around with the settings in the iphone calendar app etc...

  • Sync Google Calendars to iCloud

I am currently running OS X Lion and have activted an iCloud account. I recently purchased an iPhone 4s and have had success syncing my contacts between my MacBook, iPhone and iCloud account. I have also had success syncing my Google Calendar delegates between my MacBook, iPhone and work Mac (running snow Leopard).
The rub is I can't get the calendars to show up in iCloud. I have looked through the limited settings options and can't find anything to help.
Is there anything I can do to get all my devices to show the same calendars?
    Thanks in advance.

While it is true that the individual machines can sync with Google, iCloud cannot directly.
The reality is that while iCloud may be an excellent system for linking Apple products the truth is that Google Apps are available on more platforms.  Just like Apple systems can deal with almost any file system, Apple's iCloud should be able to sync with Google calanders and address book.   Many companies and schools use Google services for shared calendars and resources.  It would sure make sense to provide that as an additional service as well.  It wouldn't be any harder than implementing the sync and delegation methods already implemented in the standalone apps on the platforms.

  • Cannot merge my mac calendar to iCloud calendar

I have recently switched email addresses that I am using. My original email address [we will call this one "old"] was what my apple id was setup under as well as all my iCloud data. I have switched to a new email address [aptly named "new"] in order to move away from that "old" account. When I go to merge my contacts, calendar, notes, reminders to my new account, the calendar will not merge. What should I do?

I finally got it fixed. Here is what I did:
Logged out of every device & application using original apple ID
    Logged onto apple id website
Added new email address to apple ID
Switched primary apple ID email addresses
Logged back into devices & applications with new apple ID
Went back to apple ID website
Deleted old apple ID email address
    Everything works like a charm!

  • HT4759 So I moved my contacts and calendars to icloud. THEN I find out that 2010 outlook is not supported--so how do I get all of my contacts and groups back into OUtlook 2010. It had better not be one at a time.

I moved my contacts and groups as well as calendars to icloud. Nor I can't use them in outlook 2010--which I now know is not supported--how do I reverse what I have done?

Outlook 2010 is supported, as is 2007.

  • Sync iCloud calendars on Google Calendar, Sync iCloud calendars on Google Calendar

First of all I know that this is impossible. I'm just frustrated beyond belief that every other free calendar service allows you to share calendars with anyone. Come on apple, this is ridiculous. I'm willing to move over to iCloud from google for my calendar but you gotta have fundamental features working. I need to be able to share my calendars with everyone, not just iCloud users. Until then your service is nothing more than a pity joke. Just like the maps app on the iPhone which has given me wrong and directions uncountable times.

It's your choice - use icloud when "others" who share data use iOS/OSX devices, use google if the others have a mix of platforms.

  • How to sync my google calendar with iCloud ?

To sync my work calendar (that uses outlook) with my iPhone, Is sync my work calendar with my Gmail Calendar so I get my gmail alendar on my iPhone.
But on my iPhone the gmail calendar is not the account that is linked to my iCloud account.
So how can copy all my calendar items into my iCloud calendar, so it get synchronised on my MAc ?
    Thanks

Yes but if set iCloud as my default calendar it wont resolve my problem. Because If I add an item into my Gmail calendar, it will successfully get synch into my iPhone but as it is the gmail cal it won't be ssnch with my mac
(If I add directly an item into my iphone, it will get synch with my mac)
So to be clear, is there a way to copy on the fly items inserted from GCal to Icloud cal ?
add item in my work calendar -> get synch to GCal -> get synch on my iphone GCal -> copy that to iCoud Cal -> get synch through ICloud into my Mac

  • How to sync Google Calendar with iCloud calendar?

I have watched this video as well as followed Google's instruction and still it does not sync my iPhone's calendar to Google's calendar. Any other suggestion is much appreciated. I'm using iOS7.

So all of those vidoes on YouTube and various other article that talks about syncing are just fake? They just don't know what they're talking about?

  • Merge Google calendar into Apple calendar?

IIs this possible?  If so, how is it accomplished?

    Hello cajunfla,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want to merge your Google calendar into the Calendar application on your Mac.
In OS X Mavericks, you can add your Google account as an Internet Account. This will let you view Google Calendar entries in Calendar on your Mac.
Use the steps at this link to set up the Internet Account in System Preferences:
OS X Mavericks: Set up iCloud, Twitter, Facebook, and other Internet accounts
    All the best,

  • HT4372 For some reason my Google calendar is stuck on iCloud.

I'm not sure how I can remove these sub calendars without hard deleting them from Google. The calendar I tested with did a hard delete.. eep. Yes, I've removed Google from my account settings.

I'm going to guess that these are calendars you had subscribed to (either on your phone or your computer) before iCloud as opposed to A Google calendar you were actually 'syncing' via ActiveSync (via setting up Gmail as an Exchange account). When you set up iCloud (before you removed the subscribed calendars) you merged your existing calendars with iCloud, meaning it imported them.
Sign in to iCloud.com and delete the calendars that don't belong there. iCloud does not interact with the actual Google Calendars. What you're seeing is a side effect of merging your existing data. It seems the subscribed calendars were treated as local.
