Moving movies to apple tv
My powerbook G4 harddrive is full. I have an external drive and an apple tv. what would be the safest/fastest way to have those movies off my computer to free up space, and have them on my apple tv?
Hi,
Create a new folder on the ext drive - find the movies you want to move, which by default will be in your home folder/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Movies.
Drag them to the new folder.
Delete the original copies, and empty the trash, now in iTunes the movies will appear with an exclamation mark - double click and when asked if you would like to find them, click yes and navigate to the movie in the folder on the ext drive.

Apple doesn't have full control over what they can sell in each country or region. The copyright owners control that.

I rented a movie on my IMac but when I tried to watch on my Apple tv it doen't appear. i can see the ones I've bought but not the ones I rent. How can I watch rented movies on apple tv?

My apple TV is connected to a DTV with an HDMI cable and to my Yamaha receiver via optic cable. We rented a movie on Apple TV and.found that the movie played, but we only got audio for music tracks. Voice tracks were silent using both TV and receiver. This only occurred on the rented video and on recorded shows on my cable DVR. previews and other content on Apple TV are fine. Any ideas??
Previews and trailers do not contain 5.1 audio.
If you have recently moved your setup, you may have inadvertently changed some of the settings on your receiver. It certainly sounds as though it is unable to play the 5.1 audio from the Apple TV. -

Welcome to the Apple Community.
No, if you rent a movie on anything other than your computer it can only be watched on that device. If you want to watch it on multiple devices, rent it on the computer then it can be transferred between devices, but can't be moved to more than one device at a time. -

You should certainly be able to add content by reference to itunes from such a disk (even before the update) - so long as itunes knows the location of the file (set Preferences not to copy to local library when adding the media) it will stream it to AppleTV if the disk is available.
I hope you're right, but I'd be surprised if current Extremes can be upgarded to provide a full Home Sharing service - marvellous if they can but I'd be surprised as i've long said we need an Apple media server either based on TC or AE to do this kind of thing.

See if that does the trick: I think there's a way for you to request a password for purchases, but still be logged in. -

I've rented & downloaded a movie on my computer in itunes, but it does not show up on my Apple TV. Everything else shows up on Apple TV, including my computer's movie library. When I click on the movie in Apple TV it says I've already rented it and asks if I want to rent it again. No, I just want to watch it.
Unfortunately I have to if I download it on my computer. I have rented itunes movies before directly using the Apple TV and it worked just fine and I could stay in the living room. Without clicking that icon on my computer, there was no way to watch it.

I purchased a movie on apple tv. I then went to my pc and clicked "check for available downloads", but the movie is not there. I don't have enough storage to put the movie on icloud, and i refuse to pay for more storage to move something that i already paid for. any suggestions?
It looks like the answer is to log out of iTunes and then back in. That allowed Rentals to show up in my Movies Library. I rebooted about three times which didn't work. I closed the application and restarted it many times which didn't work.
The solution was to log out of my username and then back in. That worked.

Since itunes and apple tvs latest update I have had problem wtching movies on apple tv via my itunes can any one help, movie takes a very long time to load sometimes never, it use to work really well, whats going on please help?
