Moving multiple files to a new folder in pages

i know there is any easy way to do this but I forgot! I have 20 files to move to a new folder and I don't want to do it individually. How do I highlight them all and move them to a new folder in the least amount of keystrokes?

Drag over them in Finder or shift click to select all.
Nothing to do with Pages.

I am using a syncing program to keep cookie exceptions on multiple computers all equivalent. Unfortunately this is causing a problem because places.sqlite changes frequently and cannot be synced while FF is running. Sorry, there is no way to move that file out of the Profile folder, or specify a different location for it, built into Firefox.
One extension that might be able to help you do that is Pike's Bookmark Backup extension. BB allows you to specify which files are backed-up and where those backup files are saved. It also has a backup interval setting, IIRC. <br />

I moved my iTunes files from my old computer to an external hard drive. I then moved those files to the new computer. My computer and iPad are not linking up (recognizing each other?). I installed the latest version of iTunes onto the new computer to see if that would help. It did not--I got the message that an iPad can only be linked up with one computer and the new download would not work with this iPod. So the iTunes' library and my iPod are not connecting, and I have no way of installing or removing new songs onto my iPad. What should I do to correct this?

Can you describe what “the operation is failing” means? What is happening and how is it different than what you expect?
Also, what product are you trying to update manually, and do you have a link to the page of instructions, so we know what your attempting to do?

LOOOOOONG pauses in Windows Explorer with file copy, rename, new folder, etc.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit pro and I am experiencing horribly long pauses in Windows Explorer on very simple file operations, such as renaming a file, copying a file, creating a new folder, etc. Here is an example:
1. Open a folder in windows explorer, e.g. My Documents
2. Select a file
3. Hit F2 and enter a new name for the file, then hit ENTER to save the name
4. Windows Explorer now shows the wait cursor and becomes completely unresponsive, sometimes for MINUTES.
This is crazy. I read somewhere it may be due to shell extensions -- another post specifically called out MagicDisc, but I uninstalled that and still have the problem. After a fresh reboot the problem usually is not there immediately, but always comes back eventually.
Anyone have any ideas?

I would like to confirm what are the results in Safe Mode and Clean Boot?
I also would like to suggest you run ShellExView again and disable some shell extensions to check the issue.
Run ShellExView

1. Launch ShellExView again and scan the computer.
2. Press "Ctrl" on the keyboard and click all items which are marked in pink in the list.
3. Choose "File" then "Disable Selected Items".
4. Quit and restart the computer to check the Windows Explorer issue again.
Does it work?

How to add resource files to a new folder to a project in JDeveloper 11g

Currently, new folder can only be created when creating an item within JDeveloper via setting the destination folder.
I have some resource files that are binary files and created outside JDeveloper.
How can I add those resource files to a specific folder under an existing project so that we can do versioning control on those files using SVN within JDeveloper?
Or I have to manage the versioning control of those files outside JDeveloper?

Go to project properties - >Project content - > resources and add the directory.

The folder on your internal drive, as viewed in LR, should read zero photos.
The new folder on your external drive, as viewed in LR, should contain the proper number of photos.
I don't know why the internal drive doesn't have extra space now

Trying to move files into a new folder and th finder folders disappear and show latest open application

I did not have this problem running the beta. I upgraded to the shipping version yesterday and whenever I try to move a file or application into another folder, both folders disappear, the desktop screen flashes, then I see the finder folders behind whatever application I had open last sitting on top of the finder window. If I let go of the mouse nothing moves and the windows close.

I'm having the same or similar issue... I think... trying to do a little house cleaning in the file structure. For example, in our events folder I'm creating archive folders (i.e. - 2004, 2005, ect...) and when I use the Files Panel to drag and drop the past event pages into the newly created archive folder, the pages loose all their links.
Image link prior to and after moving are the same (../images/logo1.gif)
It does ask me to confirm that I want to move the file but nothing about updating the links. Is it due to the way the files are linked in the original files?

Itunes plist - multiple files in library preferences folder

there are about 100 files in the preferences folder all with a different file name - e.g.: com.apple.iTunes.plist.0sxSNjJ
I can also see file name: com.apple.iTunes.plist
According to the dates - these started appearing in January 2011. I upgraded from 10/5.8 to 10.6 in December, but there aren't any dated as December so I'm not sure that's related.
ITunes is constantly asking for my password and I was going to trash the plist file to see if that helped.
What's with the multiple entrees?

Moving multiple files leaves icon on screen.

I've been experiencing this bug wherein I select multiple files and drag and drop them onto an external drive. The copy completes just fine, but the 'image' of the grouped icons remains frozen on my screen, even across spaces. The only way to clear this ghost image is to restart finder. Is this a known bug? I've searched the forum and was unable to come upon anyone with a similar issue.

On the Mac, you would press Command A (or  A) to
select all.
But, the problem you describe sounds like you are not
clicking and holding when you go to move the files.
If you click and then release, then yes only the file
you are over will be selected.
You need to position your mouse where you want it,
then click and keep holding the button while you drag
it to where you want them.
AH, there's my mistake - yes, I had pressed Control-A and individually selected the various files I wanted to move (Cmd-A selects all which I did not want to do) but then I continued to hold the Control-A while I clicked on it to move the files - I needed to release Control-A before clicking and moving!

here's what I'd like to do:
-- select a number of files in the Finder
-- run the script
-- get a prompt for a new folder name and location
-- move (not copy) the selected files into this folder
Sounds possible but so far eludes me. Any help please?

I played some more with this and made a more simplified script that uses the finder for naming of the new folder and then renaming it.

Suppose I have 100 txt files in the same folder, and I want to read them one by one. (order is not important). File name is also part of the information I want.

You need to use the directory to create a File (use the path name, w/o a file name). Then you need to ask for a list() (array of String containing name). To do that you'll need to implement the FilenameFilter interface, writing an accept() method that returns true if the file's name ends with ".txt".
If that's not perfectly clear, try the java.io API docs and return more specific questions.

Moving multiple files by date range and/or file name filtered

I need to move multiple files by date range and/or by filename (using a filter) to another directory.
OR
How can I get the attributes of files in a directory, something you would see when typing in "dir" in a DOS or ls in UNIX. I can parse this info and then make a array of files to move.
The reason for needing this is that I need to move files that are located in another country, and sort them into different directories based on date. Having to read each file for it's file information adds wasted time that I can't afford. I am about to create a dos terminal to do a "dir" command to get the information and parse it out.. but I was hoping LV had a function that can get me that info so I don't have build it.

You should use the 'File/Directory Info' functionality.
This will return the last modificatoin of the file.

Need help in creating multiple sub folders in new folder

hi all,
need to seek some expert advise.
i need to create an automator work flow as once launch, it will show a dialog asking user for the new folder name to be created, and asking user how many sub folders to be created.
i have done the following and got stuck...
requirement is user ket in foldername upon dialog for example "test" and no of sub folders to create exp "5"
it will create a folder call "test" on desktop n 5 subfolder as: test1 , test2, test3, test4, test5.
