Moving multiple TC's to new AirPortExtr/TC

I just bought a 3TB AirportExtreme/TC, which will be the hub of my ethernet/wireless network. Two of our Macs currently use separate, local external Firewire drives for TC backup, and the backup TC files for each are over 200GB. Our goal is to make the AE/TC the backup drive for at least two, maybe more, Macs. Is the following a "best" procedure for porting the existing backup files to the AE/TC?
1) Keep the external drive connected to it's Mac.
2) Connect the Mac to the AE/TC with ethernet
3) Use TM to copy the backup files to the AE/TC hub, and make it the backup location for that Mac.
4) Move the Mac back to wireless, keeping it on the same network

It won't work.. you cannot copy TM backups from local drive to network drive at all easily.. and frankly the hassle is not worth it..
Simply do a new TM backup to the TC. New clean backups over ethernet in the first place are much better and will be more reliable.
Keep the old backups as is for 6months .. if you don't use them in that time they are no longer going to be used, mostly 99.99% of the time. You can then wipe them.

I have a new external HD. I'm wanting to move many, many events from one external HD to the new one. Seems I can only move one event at a time. If I Command Click to select multiple events then Command and drag, that is not possible. If I click an event then Command and drag to new HD that works fine. No worries.
Either way it should work fine using the command key to highlight many iMovie events and then drag them. Move slowly so that iMovie has a chance to track your motions and make sure the external drive icon lights up in the iMovie interface before you drop the files.
If it still doesn't seem to be working remove the following to the trash and restart the computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.imovie
If that does not take care of it I would re-post your question in the iMovie forum for further suggestions.

Moving multiple files to a new folder in pages

i know there is any easy way to do this but I forgot! I have 20 files to move to a new folder and I don't want to do it individually. How do I highlight them all and move them to a new folder in the least amount of keystrokes?

Drag over them in Finder or shift click to select all.
Nothing to do with Pages.

In the Organizer you can switch to Folder Location View by clicking the Display button (near top right)
You can then expand he folder tree in the left hand pane and drag and drop.

Moving XP drive to a new Mac Pro

I have an install of XP via Boot Camp on an old Mac Pro. It exists on it's own hard drive installed in the machine.
I'd like to move it to a new Mac Pro.
Is it as simple as moving the drive to the new machine?
When I run boot camp on the new machine will it recognize the previous install? Or will I need to do a new install?

It 'should' work, but XP will see it is on different hardware and require activation or something. And, you always need to boot from XP CD once when moving it to do some system repair from what I heard.
If you want to address 4-8GB RAM; use both cpus, have better multi-core support, I wouldn't even use XP.
So depends on if this is retail or system builder whether you can deactivate and move the license.

Do you have a new Apple ID to use in NZ? If not open iTunes Store. Log out of your old Apple ID, then try to login. Select Create Apple ID from the dialog that appears. Make a new Apple ID for NZ with a NZ email address. Once that is approved and verified, log into the iTunes Store with the new Apple ID. This should fix all other issues.

Moving multiple queries from one category to another in QM

Hi All,
Is there is any way of moving multiple queries from one category to another in the query manager?
Or is the only way of doing it by saving each one individually into a different category.
Any ideas ?

Hi Rakesh,
The query manager has limited function compare with normal file management applications. Under current design, you have to do this one by one. You just need to make sure move the smaller amount of queries to large category. Category name can be changed easily.

"manually manage music..." missing songs when moving multiple albums at once

Since updating to iTunes 10.6.1.7, when adding songs to my iPhone (iPhone 4, iOS 5.1) it does not fully copy every track/song.
I have it set to "manually manage music and videos" ...when I am moving multiple albums to the thing at once, the earlier albums only copy the songs started before I select the next album. Consequently, I find that I only have partial albums for almost everything. I suppose I could be patient and wait for each album to download before selecting another album, but this used to work before and took a lot less time. (I would drag multiple albums into my iPhone and it would queue up all of the tracks(songs) and correctly download asynchronously.)
Is this a known bug or is there something I am doing wrong? (As always, I did some searching for answers but came up empty on this one...)

The order iTunes is showing the tracks can be changed. Select the album column heading to get tracks list in album order. Normally within an album the tracks will list in track order when viewing this way.

Physically moving CW2000 Server to a new Network

Recently I've installed a CW2000 LMS Server in my Test environment. After successful operation I moved this Box to a new Network and changed the SNMP Communities on the Server. After that ANI Server gives me an error.
I can't syncronize RME with the ANI Server, because the ANI Server is not running.
When I have a look at the Service the following appeares:
"ANIServer is running - but busy flag is set"
I din't found usefull Informations on the Web.
Does anybody have an idea?

CW2000 requires a static ip address. Since you moved the box to a new network, the ip address is chnaged now (so could be the hostname). In this case, you can either:
1) Re-install CW2K on the new network server or
2) Update the necessary files with the new info as in the tech tips:

Since moving to Maverick and the new updated of Keynote, I have a constant problem when typing in a text box, the program crashes. Is there a bug fix for this. Drives me nuts.

Like many who can type quite quickly but at secretarial level, the text box freezes, nothing works and you know what's coming...crash!
This is most annoying. Is there bug fixes for this. Apparently I have the current updates and this problem still exists. Is it a Maverick bug or Keynote.

How did you "move everything" over?
Migration assistance does not handle the iPhoto library well sometimes - the best way is to drag the bad iphoto library from the pictures folder on the new system to the desktop, connect the two systems together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old system to the pictures folder of the new system and launch iPhoto on the new system - it will open and convert the iPhoto library as necessary and you will be fine - once you test the iPhoto library you can delete the one on the desktop
