Moving music from iPad to computer

My mother bought an iPad2 about a month ago and downloaded all her music from her computer to the iPad2 with my help. Recently, her computer went nuts and she had to completely wipe it clean so she lost all of her iTunes music files. She asked me if there was a way that she could take the music from the iPad2 and download it back onto the computer. I have been told that this is impossible to do. Does anyone know if you can do this and if you can, could you give me detailed instructions on how to do so?

This is a recommended method to move music from iPad to computer:
Step 1. Turn off automatic syncing in iTunes, do this through iTunes Preferences > Devices > check “Prevent iOS hardware from syncing automatically”, then quit iTunes
Step 2. Download iStonsoft iPad/iPhone/iPod to Computer Transfer and install it
Step 3. Connect the iPad to the computer by USB data cable
Step 4. Run iStonsoft iPad/iPhone/iPod to Computer Transfer and click the arrow next to the iOS devices name, then click the arrow next to “Media” and then again next to “iTunes_Control”
Step 5. Drag the entire “Music” folder to a location on the desktop, this is all of your music and it may take a while to transfer
Step 6. Wait a while,Finish!you success to transfer music from iPad to computer
Tip: iPod and iPhone is also the same way,you can also transfer photos,video.etc

Moving Music FROM iPod to Computer...

My computer crashed, dammit. Fortunately, had my music backed up on my iPod.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like iTunes wants to allow me move it onto my new computer. Is this some crazy iTunes security feature, or am I doing something wrong?? Any workarounds??? Aargh!!!!

There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
The above methods may depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
If none of these methods work, try CopyPod which also supports the transfer of videos from iPod to computer.

I bought music from itunes on my ipad, I want to transfer it to my computer so I can put it on a cd to play in my truck. I tried to select and drag over and copy and past it wont allow me. I had the same trouble getting music from iPhone 4 to the computer. However, there is a method in doing this that involves authorizing the computer. Go to the "Store" tab in iTunes and look for "Authorize Computer". After you do authorize it, got ot the "File" tab and click on "Transfer Purchases". Although I've only done this once, this method should work.

After a good experience with my iPhone 3 and buying an iPad, I decided to go 100% Apple and switch from PC to and iMac. I cannot move my music from my iPhone to my iMac. Is there a way to sync the phone to move the music to my new computer? I did not buy the music from iTunes, but loaded 200 CDs manually into my PC several years ago. I would hate to have to do that again.

You will need to copy your itunes library from your PC and put it on your Mac.

I was following the support topic, "How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer" on the support tab for iTunes. I followed all of the instructions and in one of the final steps, I was gping to put the estimated 1000 songs I already had on my Mac back into itunes. BUT, the folder on the desktop that SHOULD have had the files in it is completely empty. I need help locating those files. iTunes now only show the roughly 700 songs that I transferred in from my old computer. My boyfriend is going to be so angry if I lost 1000 of his songs...I followed the instructions on backing up those songs...how can I fix this??? I have two coupons for free music downloads from play.me and Sony. If I download them to my iPad, then sync to my home computer, will I lose them or will they transfer? Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search, but I'm not the most tech savvy and I'm a former PCer. Thank you!

It's great at what it does - view web content, play music/videos (has replaced our portable DVD player for trips), run Apps, read books, etc. It's NOT that good at downloading content and doing something with it, as it's really not designed for that, with the exception of viewing some very standard formats (.pdf for example).

Sister-in-law has new iPad. She doesn't own computer. How can we put her CDs on her iPad? I can rip her CDs for her, but how can I put them on her iPad without associating them with my iTunes?

Similar issue to webkat. My 83 year father-in-law has an iPad which backs up to the ICloud and no computer with a bunch of CDs for his music. I tried the suggestion from lllaassusing the link Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers. The problem is you can not get to the summary screen. Lion and iTunes 10.6 wants to reinitialize my father-in-law's iPad. And his iCloud access wants to mess up my iCloud on my computer when I tried to use it to upload HIS CDs, so I can not link into my Apple ID. Apple may be making great advances in opening the market and bringing in the non-computer generation (and helping the elderly...he likes Facetime but can only answer the call, not make one!) but its paranoia on protection is creating a barrier.
Does the Apple moderator have any suggestions? Or does the wider audience have a non-jail-break suggestion? (He is a retired Chief Master Sergeant [One Chief, One Base]...you DO follow protocal and procedure! )

I created a original song a few years ago put it in itunes on computer and synced it to my ipad. That computer and the original music are gone. The only place it exists is on my ipad. How do i get it back to my computer. I have not "synced" my music since it will erase my ipad tunes and replace it with the library on my new computer which does not have the original song.
