I recently bought a ipod and macbook.....all my music is on my old pc which is running xp,.....I want to move all my music from the pc to the mac using the ipod but the apple care told me the ipod is only one way.....computer to ipod.....not ipod to computer.....i called apple care and they told me to post this asking about a program that enables me to take my media on the ipod and transfer it onto a different computer

Moving music from iphone to mac?

I have music on my iphone that isn't downloaded from itunes, and I want to get it back on to my computer. I had to replace my hard drive a few weeks ago, so all my music is on my phone but not my computer. A few albums are in the cloud, those aren't the problem. It's the 300 or so other songs that are from elsewhere that I can't get back. Do I have to just go redownload them all?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

Question about moving music from an iPod to your computer.

In my household, we have iTunes on three different computers. My mother downloaded music on my brother's computer, and it's on his library. We want to burn a cd with the purchased album, but his computer does not have a cd burner, but the other two do. Is there a way to move music from one computer to another, or possibly moving music from an iPod to a computer's library?

Music is synced to iphone from itunes.
Plug in iphone and select whatever you like to sync from itunes to iphone.

Trouble moving music from my iTunes to my iPhone.

I downloaded the new iTunes software very recently, but now I seem to be having trouble moving music from my iTunes library onto my iPhone. If I click and drag the track to the iPhone icon, the icon is completely unresponsive. If I right-click the track and hit "Add to iPhone" nothing happens either. My iPhone is synced to my laptop and 'Trusts' it, so I don't understand why I'm not getting any response from my phone when I try to move music into it.
This is especially frustrating as when I tried to download the new software for my iPhone it suddenly and inexplicably went into recovery mode, and though I recovered the phone's data from backup all my music has been deleted from my phone and I can't get it back.
Am I doing something wrong that I'm unaware of, or is there a problem with the software? Any feedback would be hugely appreciated.

I have a MacBook and my hard drive just died. I was wondering if I could move my photos and music that are currently on my iPod back on to my mac's new hard drive. I had the box in iTunes checked that said store full resoultion photos on iPod after enabling disk use, but I currently don't have disc use enabled. Could I enable it and then sync the photos and music back?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
