Moving or zooming the canvas crashes my system.

Been having this problem for a while now, and I just cannot seem to fix it. It also seems like nobody asked the exact same question before. All previous forum posts seem to be about photoshop itself crashing, while in my case my entire system locks up.
It seems to work fine at the start, but it will lock up on me on random. I tried finding out what the exact problem was, and it seems that moving about the canvas in any way always seems to be the cause. I also often get this while I try to save, in the saving process I would move my canvas around, and it would lock up on me. Thus making my .psd-file corrupt/unreadable. I want to say I'm getting frustrated with this, but I already am...I can NOT get any work done.
I tried different methods to approach this, but no luck. One is installing the latest video driver, but it already seemed to be up-to-date. Second would be disabling certain plugins in Photoshop, like the FastCore and the MMXCore ones. But even that did not solve the crashing. I feel I am running out of options I can find, so I am pointing my attention here, hoping that someone can help me.
Basic system specs:
VGA: GeForce GTX 580
CPU: Intel Core i7 3930K
Motherboard: ASUS P9X79 DELUXE
RAM memory: 8GB
Operation system: Windows 7 ultimate.
Photoshop CS5
- Stephan

One of the things I can mention about my RAM is, The cooling I installed on my CPU was so big that I couldn't properly place the RAM under it, so right now there is a 4GB chip on each outer slot instead of the recommended position. Would RAM misplacement be the problem? If so I should probably get some smaller RAM then (which I feared I had to when I built it). I want to know for sure.
If the RAM isn't the cause...I wouldn't know how to figure out which one of the other components could be the issue.

  • CrystalReport crashes with System.IO.FileNotFoundException

    Hi everybody
    <br/>
    <br/>
    We developped a WPF-Application with VisualStudio 2010, .NET-Framework 4 and C#, target to x86 (32bit). For Reporting we use CrystalReport (in VisualStudio we use Crystal Report, version for Visual Studio 2010; Version 13.0.1.220).
    <br/>
    <br/>
    We've already deployed this application successfully to different plattforms, such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32bit & 64bit), also we successfully install versions of our application on WMWare Windows 7-Installations. On the clients we install "Crystal Report 2008 Runtime SP3" (12.3.0.601) and then we make the appropriate entries in the config-File (see below).
    <br/>
    <br/>
    Now, we have a WMWare installation with Windows 7 Enterprise-Edition (64bit) on witch we've installed our application and the CR Runtime, as we did it usually. The application runs fine but when we are trying to open a report, the application crashes with "System.IO.FileNotFoundException" (more details below). We've already tryed to install different versions of th CR Runtime, such as SP 4 and also Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4 (32-bit) / Version 13.0.0.99 (and of course made the appropriate changes to the config-file) without any success.
    <br/>
    <br/>
    So, we run out of ideas. Does anyone have some hints for us, what we can do?
    <br/>
    <br/>
    Any help will be appreciate.

    Here our entries in the config-File (targetting to "Crystal Report 2008 Runtime SP3"):

    And now, the error message that we get on the crash:

    Hi Ludek
    <br/>
    <br/>
    1) Thanks for your answer!!!
    <br/>
    <br/>
    2) We've started deploying our application last year and then there were no CR for VS 2010 runtime available. So we must have done this workaround. And this works perfect till now and also on 64bit and 32bit clients!!!
    <br/>
    <br/>
    3) I've deleted the config-section now!
    <br/>
    <br/>
    4) I've now installed the CR for VS 2010 runtime but get still the same error. See below.
    <br/>
    <br/>
    Thanks again and I hope for other clues.

  • Sometimes when panning with the hand tool, it zooms way out instead of just moving the canvas

    So normally when you hold the space key and drag, it just moves the canvas, but every now and then, seemingly randomly, it zooms way out and shows a little box which is the size and shape of the area of canvas I was previously looking at. If I move the box and let go of space, it zooms to that location, but all I wanted was to move normally. I don't think I've ever wanted the zoom out, move, then zoom back in behavior. What causes that? How do I make it stop?

    It's "bird's eye view" and by coincidence, your problem was discussed in another thread last night: Problem with zoom in Photoshop CS6

    Ive repaired 1000s of laptops over the years (translate: diagnose and replace parts).
    Its not that old, Ive owned 100s of laptops (most were free) ....some I still have are nearly 13 years old and still perfect, ....some extremely expensive ones died in under a year.
    other than becoming obsolete at some point, there isnt really any "will spoil on" data like Milk for solid state computer parts, ....alas.
    You can have a $5000 laptop die in 4 months, and a junker one keep kicking after 10 years.... Ive seen that firsthand countless times.
    Common logic dictates that "very expensive = long life" in computers,..... but all the repair people will tell you just the opposite.
    I know you have a gripe, I get that all too well honestly .

    I am receiving the error code (-50) when trying to access the itunes store. The original itune songs etc were installed on a win 7 32 bit system and I have now moved to a win 7 64 bit system (same PC) and have copied the folder across. Has the switch from 32 to 64 bit caused the problem? Is this why I get the error code? I can, however, access the itunes store to view my account. Any ideas please?

  • I have just bought an iPad mini and to transfer my contacts,music etc via iTunes on my PC, the PC crashes - is this because of the different operating systems?

    Can anyone please help

    Hi Pa23from Argyllshire,
    This error: I have just bought an iPad mini and to transfer my contacts, music etc via iTunes on my PC, the PC crashes should not occur.
    The best guess is this crash is caused due to an issue with the PC.
    Make sure your iPad is updated to the latest operating system: iOS 7.0.4 and make sure iTunes is updated to iTunes 11.
    iTunes 11 is optimised for iOS 7, so if you have an iOS 7 device and non iTunes 11 computer, life would be hard.
    Try to update iTunes to 11.1.3 from: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    Even try uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing. iTunes will not lose any of your iTunes songs when your un-install it as iTunes stores every media item in a folder found in (or around): C:\Users\NAME\Music\iTunes
    Obviously iTunes and iDevices work best using Mac iTunes however; iTunes 11 and iOS 7 iPad Mini should work fine.
    In summary possible solutions:
    1.       Update iPad Mini to iOS 7 or better (iOS 7.0.4)
    2.       Update iTunes to iTunes 11.1.3
    3.       Restart both PC and iPad
    4.       Uninstall iTunes from PC
    Many Thanks, Happy New Year and I look forward to hearing from you regarding this crash!

    Facebook 1.6 and 5 Firefox crashed my system the other day! I like the 1.6 so I had to reload 4.03 now it is working again! I locked up my Facebook account for 8 hours! The program had been glitching for the past month!

    I too had a HORRIBLE time with ITunes 7.0. The sound quality was absolutely terrible!! How did you recover your "Purchased Music" folder? I seem to have lost mine when I reverted back to Version 6.0.5. I also lost about 50 songs that I can't seem to find.
    As a side note, when I called the Apple technical support line and spent over 45 minutes on hold before I finally got assistance, the guy I spoke to said his department had NO IDEA about the problems with Version 7.0 - I was his first call. Someone should be fired for not testing Version 7.0 thoroughly.
    To anyone with problems, I suggest you call or email Apple so they are aware that this problem with Version 7.0 is widespread. Hopefully, they will actually listen to us customers, research this, and at least post some troubleshooting tips on the Apple website to help us out.

    Since moving to Maverick and the new updated of Keynote, I have a constant problem when typing in a text box, the program crashes. Is there a bug fix for this. Drives me nuts. Like many who can type quite quickly but at secretarial level, the text box freezes, nothing works and you know what's coming...crash!
    This is most annoying. Is there bug fixes for this. Apparently I have the current updates and this problem still exists. Is it a Maverick bug or Keynote.

    How did you install Mavericks, as an update ontop of the previous OS or did you wipe the drive and install clean?

    Sometimes, I'd like to place object outside the Slide borders so that i can make them fly in & out at my wish.
    Keynote lets you place anything outside your Slide (Above, Left, Below, Right).
    When you want to see the bigger picture you can use Zoom Out -
    and you can see the Canvas with al the objects placed outside the slides.. But..
    Keynote always aligns the Slides in the Top Left Corner,
    so you can only see what you placed Below or Right to the slide,
    and not what is above or left from the Slide..
    I can't find a way to center the slide so you can see what is above and left from it.
    Is there a setting i'm missing? (Apple Help Center couldn't find it)
    It Would be kind of strange if you can't center the Slide,
    since you CAN use the space (Left&Above) but you CAN'T see the space?
    Anyone else thinks this is a problem?

    Done some digging on this forum,
    and found more people ran into this
    Maybe it's time to organise and send some stimulating e-mails to the Keynote team to please solve this in the next version...

  • I am moving clips to the timeline and they arrive zoomed in.  how can I stop this?

    need some help.  I'm moving clips to the timeline and they arrive zoomed in.  I don't want this effect.  How can I stop it?

    To expand a little on John's questions and link, every clip and every sequence has its own frame dimensions (and pixel aspect ratio & frame rate). By default, Premiere preserves the dimensions (or "resolution") of a clip when you add it to a sequence. That means that if a clip's resolution is greater than that of the sequence, it will appear to be zoomed in on the frame. Conversely, if the clip is lower res than the sequence, it will appear shrunk, with black borders.
    If all of your content is the same resolution (which is the ideal case), then you should use a sequence that matches. The easiest way to do so is the "New Item" method that John refers to--dragging a clip to the Project Panel's New Item button--or, in later releases of PPro CC, dragging it into an empty Timeline panel. If you're working with content of mixed resolution, then you have to pick your poison and scale smaller clips up or larger clips down. The latter option is generally preferred because the former--scaling clips up--often results in unacceptable pixelation.

  • Motion keeps crashing when clicking on the canvas

    Hi. Does anyone else have this problem? Whenever I click on the canvas to select and move a object the Motion crashes. When I start my project everything goes well but after I have few layers and some more objects there it goes boooom. I'm really running out of my time with a client and I'm loosing my hair with this. GRRRR!!
    So if someone else has this problem and knows how to fix it, I beg some solutions.. Thanks!

    I'm having the exact same problem. It started yesterday evening. My log file is below (most of it). I had been working all day on something without working in the canvas and recall earlier that day installing the most recent update. Could this update be the problem? I've tried opening older versions of the file, deleting media, etc. Need help!

  • Moving to the new BT Mail system

    Hi,
    I have just received an email today and it looks like I will be moving to the new BT Mail system shortly.  So I am trying to ensure that I am all set up for it, but have two related questions I have not been able to find answers to ...
    1. I do not currently use the Yahoo web-pages, but my e-mail is instead forwarded to another account where it is merged with all my other e-mail from various accounts. Will this forwarding be carried over to the new system, or must I set it up again?
    2. The T&Cs worringly says that I must look at the BT Email webpage, otherwise my account will be suspended. What is actually meant by this as there are also instructions for collecting the email via IMAP and POP for PC programs or on a mobile device. How will people using email forwarding or a separate program/mobile be affected?
    With thanks
    Andrew

    I do believe that BT Retail are starting to move existing customer's who email accounts are on the BTYahoo email system to the new BT Mail system provided by Critical Path from this month onwards (ie from March 2014 onwards)
    Though always be wary if you do recieve an email claiming to be from BT Retail or BTplc asking for your details or to verify your account.
    Link on how to check if the email you recieved is actually from BT Retail: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9191/c/346,6588,6595
    Anyway these links below should help you how to get ready for the move to the new BT Mail system and platform:

  • Why dose Premier (CS6) Crash when I change the Audio Hardware to System Default?

    I am running a brand new Imac, i7 3.4ghz, 32gb ram and updated.  Full Adobe Production suite installed and updated.  My Audio interface is the Akai EIE Pro with the latest 2.8.18 drivers installed.
    If a launch Audition, After effects, Logic, they all see the audio interface and work seemlessly.  When I launch Premier it does not see the EIE Pro interface and when I change the Default Audio interface to System Default Input/output Premier crashes immediately.  I have tried an earlier version of the EIE Pro drivers with the same results.  It doesn't make sense to me that it would work fine in After Effects but not Premier.
    Here is the following crash report.    Anybody else have this issue or have any ideas on what to do?
    Cheers!!

    Steve, the partial crash log is an unofficial unwritten rule around here.  The cause of the crash is usually near the top of the log anyway.  The hardware profile is at the bottom.  That can be helpful some times.
    But, most of the contents only make sense to software engineers.
    Search for the .plist without ".plist" in the search criteria.
    Or, look in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
    Best of luck,
    Jim
    Look, I just edited my post after you replied to it, John.

  • Muse crashes when dragging widgets to the canvas

    I am having a major problem with Muse freezing and locking up when I try and drag the YouTube Social Widget to the canvas. I just get the spinning ball and have to eventually force close the program altogether. Anyone have a solution of any idea of a solution? I'm trying to embed a video for a client. I also tried to insert HTML through the object menu and the same result took place.
    Thanks,
    Jamain

    What version of Muse?
    Back in Muse 7 a change to the video player used by Google for YouTube videos would result in the behavior you describe. In Muse 7 that was worked around by using the YouTube widget from the Widget Library provided with Muse 7.3.
    Muse 2014 (the equivalent of version 8) replaced the HTML rendering engine used for Preview, and generation of proxy images for Design view. That improves the fidelity of Muse Preview and the proxy images, and avoids this crash/hang when inserting YouTube embed code.

  • Newspaper apps crash when I zoom the text

    Regardless of the specific eNewspaper app, when I pinch zoom the page to enlarge the text the apps crash.

    Haven't seen this...
    What apps does this happen on??
    Have you tried a hard reset...
    Have you tried removing an app that crashes and reinstalling it?
