Moving over from Mac Mail to Mac Outlook 2011

Hi All - I am in the process of moving from Mac Mail to Mac Outlook 2011. Could anyone please advise how I disable Mac Mail. I want to keep all of the old emails there but just start using Outlook 2011. I would happy for any suggestions. I am a bit wary to start trying touring over all of the emails from Mail to Outlook, I think it would be a very long process.
Sending emails from Outlook is taking a bit of time at the moment, I'm wondering if it is to do with still having Mail sitting there.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Loner T
Thanks so much for your reply. I have taken all of the accounts offline. It does say that the messages are being stored on servers.
Do you know is it easy or laborious to export the mailbox? I have not done this before.
Thanks

  • How do you cut and paste tables in and out of Excel from either Mail.app or Outlook 2011?

When I try to cut and paste a table generated in Excel for Mac into the body of an email the formatting holds but when I send the table is reduced to one column. Same is true for copying from incoming mail into Excel, when I paste into Excel it is reduced to one column rather than keeping the table format. I have tried using mail.app and went out and Outlook 2011 and both programs have the same issue. The reformatting also happens when I forward an email received from a coworker that contains a table, not just on cut and paste operations.
I need to do this regularly and right now my only option is using my old PC where the cut and paste function keeps formatting between Excel and Outlook just fine. Attaching a pdf or excel file is not an option. There has to be a way to maintain the formatting and being able to extract the tables keeping them intact. Please let me know if you have a solution to maintain this formatting within email programs. Thank you in advance.

Selecting all does not help - the issue is I need a table within an incoming email to be moved to excel, edited and then pasted back into a new email. "Select All" picks up the email headers, signatures, any messages around the table etc so that doesn't work. Also, as pointed out above Excel doesn't have a select all feature to get the tables back into the body of an email.
I just tried again going from Excel into Outlook 2011. No luck. All one column down the left side of the email. All columns are removed and text crammed into one column. Just to check I cut from one Excel document and pasted into another and it retained all formating just fine. It is only in and out of Outlook that seems to be the issue.

  • Will I ever be moved over to BT mail?

I now have yet another version of BT Yahoo Mail thrust upon me - covered in even more annoying adverts - one now stuck at the top of my inbox!   Over a year ago now I received messages saying I would be moved over to BT Mail at some point in the future.  Why is this taking SO long - I thought the association between BT and Yahoo had ended or was due to end?  All I want to do is read my incoming mail - not be confronted with a screen full of rubbish adverts.

A quick look through the threads on this board will reveal that you're by no means alone in disliking the new Yahoo! interface. Alas, it will also reveal many who think the new BT Mail effort isn't much better. When you will get to find out for yourself is anyone's guess because the migration is on hold with no word from BT as to when it will be resuscitated. Maybe we'll have to suffer yet another General Election first.
Meanwhile you can deal with the adverts by using a browser with an ad blocker, or go for an email client such as Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail for an even better experience.

  • Moving iTunes from Windows to a Mac... for multiple iPods

I have just bought a new MacBook Air, and am facing a problem of how to move my current iTunes over to it!
The main problem is that I currently have 3 different iPods on the go (shuffle, video and iPhone) all with different music on them. At the moment I have managed to put an iTunes library for each of them on 3 different windows laptops/computers, but as I'm off to university I would ideally like to put all 3 libraries on my new MBA.
Has anyone got any advice on how the best way is to do this? Would a separate hard-disk work for moving the music over from Windows to Mac? Also I have no idea how you create 3 separate iTunes libraries on one MacBook!
    Thanks in advance

The easy answer is to just drag and drop all her music files into the new iTunes Library on her new 12" PB.
Get them on media (CD/DVD) or however you want. My favorite method is to get both systems on the network, drag copies to a temporary folder on the desktop. Then the PC is out of the loop. And you have not commited to a MOVE or DELETE of the source at this point. Then, drag and drop the temporary folder into iTunes. As long as it is setup properly, iTunes will COPY the files as added, and ORGANIZE the files and folders for you. After all that, delete the temporary folder.

  • Moving email from apple mail to outlook

Is there a way to move saved emails in folder on apple mail to outlook for MAC  Thanks Randall.

    Hi,
I take it you meant export from apple mail.
If so there is no export option available... Unless I'm looking in the wrong spot, have a import option for apple mail but no export.
    Cheers

  • Mac mail on PC Outlook

I have 2 macs and a PC laptop. Projects on Macs and documents and email on PC.
Does Mac mail have POP3 capability so I can bring it on my PC?
    Thanks much

but you keep all messages on the server, and it will exchange some info with your computers to keep track of what is downloaded already and what's new. (otherwise you would be downloading all mails each time, wouldn't you).
So my guess is that this is still interfering in a way with the 2nd client.
Try a reverse situation, first download to the Mac, then the PC. Same problem?

  • Move emails from apple mail to windows outlook

    Hello Everyone,
I have recently bought a windows laptop as majority companions in my office have windows only. I also have mac book pro having apple mail as my e-mail client. I work in a small company in which e-mail is the life blood of our company. So now what I need to do is move all my emails from apple mail to outlook that is present in windows laptop. I haven't found any answers or discussions regarding this topic on this forum site. Can any one please help me get over with this problem or atleast guide me or direct me to the forum where solution for this query is posted.
Your help will be really appreciated. Thank you.

If both system are using the IMAP mail provider all you have to do is setup the connection to the mail server and all the emails and folders will be copied down to the windows computer. That is what IMAP is for. The mail stays on the server, and can be store on the local computer also, and when you connect to the server with another device, computer, phone or pad, all the mail with folders gets copied to the other device.
But I think some of your mail was gotten using POP so it is not longer on the server.
Or you have emails in local folder only and they would be on the server. But you can create folder on the server in one mail program, or on the mail web interface and then copy those emails into those folder on the server byt copying them in one of the email programs. Then when you logon with the other device all of them will be downloaded to the other device.

Sorry but this didn't work. I have around 4000 mails in some what 45 folders. Using IMAP i can transfer only one file at a time, that will take me days to transfer that amount of files.
Are there any other options available...???

  • Mailbox transfer from Apple mail to Windows Outlook 2010

There were thousands of emails in Apple mail email client. I sorted out and maild mailboxes for different types of emails. I separated work-related eails and other stuff related emails and made mailboxes for each. Now I want to move the work-related emails
to my windows laptop in Outlook 2010 email client.
I did try to sync the emails via Imap but the synchronization fails every time I try to sync the emails. I have double checked everything many times before synching but it always fails. Now I am sick of doing it as there are 10k plus mails and the sync is always
    failing.
Is there any other way to transfer the mailbox from apple mail to outlook 2010. It would be very helpful of anyone can guide me to transfer only the work mailbox folder as syncing via Imap starts downloading all the emails including the others.
I just need to transfer the work folder.
Helpful solutions will be really appreciated.

    Hi,
The easiest way to transfer data from Outlook for Mac to a Windows-based Outlook client is to upload to an exchange server. To do this, please refer:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2649169/en-us
However, if that option is not available use one of the methods listed in the link below:

  • Will a samsung s5 sync contacts on a mac pro 150 with outlook 2011 installed?

    Im looking at a new Samsung S5 smart phone (had it with the iphone) & I have a mac pro 150 with Office 2011 installed;
Question - will the S5 sync contacts in Outlook program installed?

Microsoft have not made Outlook for Mac compatible with iCloud since they haven't bothered to include support for the industry standard CalDAV and CardDAV protocols iCloud uses.
    See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2648915
Apple cannot do anything to rectify this, as they don't make Microsoft Office. It is in Microsoft's hands.
It wasn't necessary to buy Office for Mac to sync with iCloud. All Macs come with all the applications required for syncing with iCloud for free.
Use Apple's Mail, Address Book and iCal.

  • User not able to send the mail from other mail box on outlook 2007

In my outlook(2007), i am using my mail box to send the mail and receiving the mail every thing working fine, now what happened , i am adding one of my users mail box to my outlook profile, and trying to send the mail from that mail box, when ever
i am trying to send its give me the message called message undelivered  and permission error. as i am full permission on that users mail box. but still getting that issue.
    My lab info
    Exchange server 2010 sp3
    outlook 2007

    HI Paul,
In exchange, you have something called Send as permission as well. Try to give send as permission to your self from the user's mailbox.
In exchange> Reciepient config> Mailboxes> user mailbox> right click> Full Send as permssion
    or,
Add-ADPermission -Identity "user1" -User "[email protected]" -ExtendedRights Send-As
After you add your self in send as permission you need to wait for some time to propagate the settings or you can forcefully reset the information store services
    That should solve your issue.

  • Connect Exchange email without active sync just as I do on Mac mail on Mac book.  Using OWA site.

I am trying to connect my exchange email to my iPhone without using active sync. I am able to connect it to the Mac mail program on my MacBook pro with out ay issues. Can this be done on the iPhone?  Please instruct.

    Hi,
I have a similar issue, just purchased Iphone4, can't get my enterprise emails because i get the typical "Unable to verify" message. My It guys (which are totally unfamiliar with Iphone because we are a blackberry-organisation ) tried to create an acoount on my iphone with no succes, afterwards they said that our email application is not compatible with iphone and that "we will upgrade it but don't know when".
After googeling (without understanding much ) i found that:
Active Sync is needed for Iphone to get emails, Active Sync works only with Microsoft Exchange SP2.
We have Microsoft Exchange 2003 RTM (6.5.6944.3) so no SP1, no SP2.
Is this the issue why we can't get it work?  If yes, is there any other way to get my emails without this ActiveSync?
(we have OWA in case this is usefull).
    Thanks a lot!

  • Want Folders in Mac Mail on Mac Mail Web, Too.

I use my folders in Mac Mail as storage places. I'd like those folders to be in my Mac Mail on the Web, too, so I can access those folders when I'm not at my home computer. Do I sync? Or how do I make that transfer?
    Thanks!

For what type of mail account (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? If POP, there is no way to do what you want. If IMAP or .Mac, Mail Help’s “Creating a mailbox” article explains how to create server-stored mailboxes instead of locally stored ”On My Mac” mailboxes.
BTW, if you’re running Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), as your profile indicates, it would have been more appropriate to discuss this in the Mail & Address Book - Mac OS X 10.3 & earlier forum. If the discussion applies to both Mail 1.x and Mail 2.x, it doesn’t really matter, but it’s difficult to know that in advance.
