Moving photos from photo stream to an album

How can I move pictures from a photostream to a album? do i need to move them to the camera roll first?

Moving photos first to the camera roll is the only solution to moving photos to an album...a bit time consuming if you have many photos.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Moving photos from photostream to your library just imports them, it doesn't remove it from photostream, therefore photostream won't disappear.
Photos in photostream can't be edited, you can only edit photos that have been imported from photostream.

  • How do you save photos from import or Photo Stream to an album?

How do you save photos from import or photo stream to an album?  I have a MacBook Air (which keeps telling me my start-up disk is full) and I am trying to organize photos so there aren't duplicates and triples.  I have photos in events, last import, photos and albums....I feel like they are all taking up space.  If I move a photo from photo stream to an album, then delete the photo from photo steam its deleted from the album.  That doesn't make sense to me.  There should be a way to clean up photo stream, and events, and last import by putting photos into albums.  Even more bizarre; I imported photos from my 4S, and only a fraction of them transferred over.
I am completely lost.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Sarah,
Only the photos you are seeing in the events and the Photo Stream will take up space. iPhoto stores each photo only one. After you import it, it will be assigned to one event.
Then you can use it in many albums and projects. Using the photo this way will only reference the one single copy of the photo in the event. The albums don't store the photos and do not require additional space. If you delete a photo from an event, it will be removed from all albums that have been using the this photos.
What you are seing are not actually duplicate photos but different ways to access the same photos.
The "Last event" is the same event as the last one you imported. It is there for a quick access to your recently imported photos.  Photos is a quick access to all photos in your library as an endless stream of photos. These are also no duplicates.
So if you want to save space and delete photos, do that by browsing your events. Deleting a photo from an event will delete the original image file and remove the photo from all albums, books, and other products. You have only duplicate photos, if you are seing the same photo twice in an event.
Even more bizarre; I imported photos from my 4S, and only a fraction of them transferred over.
That is a different problem, but it may be related to to fact that you need to free space.
If you get a warning, that the system needs space, don't do anything but update the backup of your mac and move files to an external disk to free space.
It is not save to keep working, when the system is running out of space.
How much free space do you have? Anything below 15GB free space is really critical.

How do I move photos from Photo Stream to an album?

I just got the latest iPad.  I don't see that option and I am trying to move my Photo Stream photos to existing Albums.  It is only allowing me to Edit then move the photos I select to a New Album.  Any suggestions?

  • How to save Shared photo stream as an album?

I would like to be able to save the photos i shared to my photo stream as album. I already managed my photos on my iphone and sent to my photo stream as an album but I also would like to have them as albums as well on my iPhoto without reorganizing again. Is it possible? Thanks.

Yes. First they would have to be saved to an Event in the iPhoto Library. Then you can create an album for them.
Do you have iPhoto setup to automatically import Photo Stream photos into the library?
If you do they will already be in your library.

  • In iPhoto, moving Photo Stream from 'recents' to 'library'

    As per the title.
In iPhoto, I have Photo Stream set up fine (ish). I want all my photos to be imported to iPhoto but I want them in a folder of their own. I have set up a smart folder to import any photos that are named 'IMG_'. This works if I choose for photo stream to be automatically imported into photos, events and places etc (which eventually I want to turn off but still have them smartly imported).
However, I've found it only smartly imports photos from any albums under the Library tab, and not from the Recents tab (where photo stream is). Therefore, is there any way to move the location of photo stream from Recents to under Library instead?
Many thanks for replies or work around solutions on how to do this.
    Lewis

'Recents' are just some handy shortcuts to material frequently (or recently) accessed. The last couple of items, the last import and so on. Again, it's not a place, it's a list. The Photostream is a link to the items in the stream - stored in your Users/Library Application Support (you can see this simply by going File -> Reveal in Finder), but the Photostream Events point directly to material stored in the Library Package.
I would like my photo stream photos imported into an album other than the general Photos album in my library.
You're going to need to clarify terms a little. You're using folders and albums interchangeably and they're not the same thing, and sometimes you're using either to refer to Events.
Every Photo is in the LIbrary.
The Library can be viewed in wo ways: via Events or Photos. That's exactly the same material viewed from different perspectives.
Every photo in the Library is in an Event, and these correspond to the folders they are stored in on the HD, at time of import (though this can change, shots moved from Event to Event do not move on the HD)
Albums are arbitrary collections created by the user. You decide what photos are in an Album. Photos in an Album reference the actual shots in the Library. They don't use any extra disk space.
Folders cannot contain Photos. They can contain Albums or other Folders.
So, if you can clarify exactly what you're hoping for perhaps we can figure out a way to achieve it.

  • How can I move photos from photo stream to an Album?

I want to rearrange photos in my photos into Albums.  Can someone tell me how to move photos from photo stream into Albums?

The trick is to move the photos to Camera Roll first then to individual albums.  Used to go direct but not on the 5s - or least that's the best I've come up with.

  • HT4890 how to move photos from Photo Stream to existing albums

iCloud sends photos to my iMac and iPad from my iPhone (or from my iMac to my iPhone & iPad) to the Photo Stream folder in Photos in ech device.  I want to move those photos from the Photo Stream folder to individual albums.  Can this be done?  If I move the photos from the Photo Stream folder on my iMac to individual albums, will they flow to the album on my iPad and iPhone?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you move them to albums in iPhoto on your Mac, you'll need to choose those albums to sync with your devices from the photo tab in iTunes when you connect the device.
Alternatively, you can create albums from photostream photos on your device. Select the photo sheet screen in photostream on the device, tap the rectangle with an arrow in it, tap the photos you which to add to a new album and choose the 'save' button. Choose from new or existing album or camera roll.

  • Why can i not add individual photos from my photo stream to individual albums ...like i used to in iPhoto ??

unable to add individual photos to individual albums.

Best I can tell it's either because that wouldn't work on the iPad, or they haven't enabled it.
Select a Photo (or Photos) in the Photo Stream and click the + button on the toolbar. You can then choose which Albums to Add it to.

  • Photo Stream: are shared album pics on my ipad hard drive???

My son has shared many pics in albums with ms using Photo Stream.
Are these pics on my iPads hard drive?? Taking up space?
    thx

It's been a while since your post, but if you haven't gotten the issue fixed, you could try a restore from within itunes on your computer. This will replace the OS on the ipad and since the photo app is included in that, it may fix your problem.

  • Deleted Photos from iPhone still show up in Photo Stream on iPad: iOS 6

Okay, I've done a lot of searching and can't find any solution for this.  I'm on iOS 6 on all devices, so none of the iOS 5.x article / discussions apply.
I have my iPhone 5, my wife has an iPhone 4, we have an iMac, and an iPad 2.  Here's the situation.  We use iCloud and Photo Stream is enabled on all four devices, and all share a single Apple ID.
I have many photos (let's say 100) I've taken on my iPhone 5 over the last several months, and with Photo Stream enabled, they were automatically copied to all of my other devices.  Great.  Now, I'd like to delete let's say 20 of those photos.  On my iPhone 5, I go to "My Photo Stream" and mark all 20 of them and delete them.  I get the pop-up confirmation that they will be deleted from the Photo Stream on all my devices. Great, exactly what I want.
The photos delete from my iPhone 5, my wife's iPhone 4, and my iMac.  However, they still appear on my iPad under Photos, Photo Stream, and under Events (September 2012 Photo Stream, October 2012 Photo Stream, November 2012 Photo Stream events).  I can not delete them from my iPad.
    I have tried:
    1. Selecting each photo, there is no option to delete
    2. Selecting edit, and then selecting a photo, the delete button is disabled
    3. Disabling Photo Stream on my iPad, and rebooting.  All photos in "My Photo Stream" on iPad are deleted, but not the photos that were sourced by other devices, they still appear under Photos, Photo Stream, and the monthly Photo Stream events
So... How do I delete these photos from my iPad?
    Cheers,
    Gouda

Okay, finally figured out what was going on.  Positng the solution here in case it might help someone else with a similar problem.
    Here's what was happening:
    1. iPhone5/iPhone4/iPad/iMac all had iCloud + Photo Stream so Photos were shared
    2. iMac was setup with iPhoto to automatically import and save Photo Stream photos
    3. iPad was setup to wirelessly sync all albums from iPhoto
So, when photos were shared using Photo Stream to iMac, it would backup to an album in iPhoto, and sync to the iPad.  Deleting the original photo on the iPhone would delete the photo from the Photo Stream on all devices, but it had already been added to a permanent album in iPhoto (e.g., "September 2012 Photo Stream").  This album was then automatically synced to the iPad.  So, deleteing the photo from Photo Stream would clear it from the iPhones, but not the iPad.
    To delete the photos:
    1. Delete the photo from "My Photo Stream" in the source device (the device used to take the picture), this will delete it from the active Photo Stream on all devices
    2. On the iMac, go into the automatically created monthly Photo Stream events, and delete the photos from there
    3. In iTunes, initiate a Sync with the iPad, which will update the syncronized albums/events there, removing the photos on the iPad as well
Hope that's able to help someone in the future...
    Cheers,
    Gouda

  • Importing photos from photo stream

Under iphoto, it used to be that photos would be pulled down from photo stream and an album for the month would be auto generated, housing all of the photos for that month that were imported from photo stream.
Under the new photos app, I see the current month (April 2015) but it's not updating with any new photos.
When I look at my photo stream (the main fire hose), my photos show there - just not in the auto-generated folder.
When I pull back and look at the April 2015 folder, it is housed under "iPhoto albums" ...
    My question is this:
Is this feature now retired?  Do I now have to manually create these monthly folders?
Differences between iPhoto and the Photos app do not exactly seem to be spelled out.

I'm also trying to figure some of this out... looking to migrate from Aperture.
When migrating your old library to Photos, your "April 2015" photo stream was converted to a Photos "album." This, along with your other iPhoto albums (Projects in Aperture) were placed in the "iPhoto albums" folder.
It doesn't seem that Photos creates new albums for Photo Streams. These photos are all pulled into the one "My Photo Stream" which seems to be a "smart" album.

  • Apple Photo Stream is not pushing pictures from my iPod to my computer?

I have an iPod Touch 4g with iOS 5.0.1.
iCloud is set up on my iPod and computer.
When I take a picture on my iPod, it does go into the Photo Stream in the Albums, but when I go to check my Photo Stream Folder on my computer the picture is not there....how do I fix this?
I have restarted my iPod and computer.
In Settings>iCloud the Photo Stream is on.
In Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars the Fetch New Data is set to Push, it is ON, the fetch is for every 15 minutes, and under advanced the i Cloud is set to Push.
Why is it not automatically pushing my photos to my computer?
(I know it's set to 15 mins, but even after 30 minutes still nothing.)

Unless you chose to copy full-sized images to the iPod when you synced then all that’s there are tiny thumbnails and they are useless to you, even if you could recover them. They would print about the size of a postage stamp.
the pictures are still playing on my screen saver but I cannot find them anywhere on my hard drive.
These are simply cache files, and not recoverable.
Your best bet is to use a file recovery software on your Mac, such as File Salvage
