Moving photos from the Photo Library to the Camera Roll
Hi,
I have recently moved all of the photos on my camera roll into the photo library, however I want to put some back onto the camera roll, but I can't figure out how to. I realize that there probably is no way because of what both of these albums are actually for, but I was wondering if there was any way possible.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Alright I guess that answers my question then. However, just as I said I was able to transfer photos from my camera roll to my photo library, so at least that is possible.
I never said that I did it directly, neither did I mean to imply that I was looking for a direct solution. This I guess is where our misunderstanding comes from. I just did not feel like repeating the whole process I went through. Regardless, I would rather this thread not derail into who said what and whose misunderstanding who. I now know that it is not possible to get pictures from the photo library to the camera roll in any way, so my question is answered for now at least.

I'm trying to make a slideshow in iMovie, but when I upload photos from my Aperture Library into the iMovie Photo Browser, some photos (305 out of 427) are missing. How do I get iMovie to upload all of them?
I have same problem. I could only see a fraction of my project photos if I browse the Aperture lbrary. It is the same problem when I sync the aperture photos to my iPhone or iPad. I still cannot solve it but I know a way to go around it for your iMovie to see the pictures so that you can work on your iMovie.
Here is the work around:
Export the photos from your album to your hard disk and re-import into your iPhoto. Now you should be able to see those photos that you want to work on in iMovie when you browse your iPhot library. -
Cant drag photos from my iPhoto library to the body of mac mail.
I used to be able to drag photos to the body of my email and now I get a dotted rectangle with a arrow pointing down saying MAIL ATTACHMENT and if I touch it with my cursor I get a Error saying I cant download the attachment?
What is going on...export the photo to the desktop and then attach it to the E-mail.
That's the way I used to do it also, but I just checked and I can drag a photo directly from iPhoto, or from the "Photo Browser" in Mail directly onto a new message. I get the green circle with a white + sign and the photo get's attached to the message.
I was surprised and pleased to see it work this way so easily. -
How do i sync photos from my iPhoto to my iPhone camera roll?
I want to sync my 'last 12 months' album only iPhoto into my iPhone camera roll. But whenever i try it makes it a separate album.
You don't.
Camera roll is temporary storage for pics taken with the iPhone. You should be importing these to your computer regularly.
When you sync photos from your computer, they go into the Photo Library under the folder name that you chose to sync. -
Photo from email turns to negative in camera roll
so i'm trying to use an image that i created on my computer as my background. when i email it to myself, the image in the email shows up fine. so i save the image and go to it in the camera roll, it appears to be the original image the switches to the negative of the image. anyone know the reason to why it would do this?

it appears to be all black on the iphone screen, but view it on the computer you can see a little bit of what the original image was.
any help would be appreciated.When Facebook first asked for permission to access your camera roll you tapped "no". You need to go into Facebook settings and change that setting.

Why can't l click and drag a photo from my pictures library to my iphone?
I am trying to move photos from my laptop to my iphone. I have tried clicking and dragging individual photos from my picture library to the iphone but l receive a message saying my iphone is not responding.
I have tried syncing via itunes but when l want to sync a further folder it replaces the one which as already been synced?
Any ideas?There has never been a function to copy anything from an iPhone and paste it to a computer.
All of your media should be in iTunes already.
If it is not and was purchased from iTunes, right click on the device and select Transfer Purchases.
If the media is not in iTunes and was not purchased from iTunes, how did you get it on the device in the first place? -
I am trying to export photos from Iphoto to a folder on my desktop and seem to be unable to do this as a big X appears on the bottom of the photo and it says it can not export photo. Any ideas how to solve this problem so that I can download photos from I photo to my desktop?

You can export photos via email, a MobileMe Gallery, Flickr, Facebook, Photo Stream, iWeb, or to a burn folder but not to a folder on your Desktop or a flash drive.
Workaround is to connect the flash drive then drag the photos from your iPhoto library to the flash drive icon on the Desktop. -
I have an imac 20-inch Late 2006 model on OSX 10.7.4 running iphoto 11, somehow the application ccleaner has deleted my photos from my iphoto library. I have time machine but the iphoto library file is missing when I access time machine.
To restore photos I have followed the steps below
Quit iPhoto.
Connect your Time Machine drive.
In the Finder, open the folder containing your iPhoto Library. Unless you've moved your iPhoto Library, it can be found in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library.
Enter Time Machine. (Time Machine can be found in the Dock or in the /Applications folder.)
Choose your desired backup. The timeline on the right side of the screen displays a purple tick mark for each of the backups stored on your Time Machine drive.
Select the iPhoto library you would like to restore, and click the Restore button.
I dont get the option in step 6 as I dont have an iphoto library file to choose? Does anyone know why?Hi Barry
Thanks but as mentioned all is intact, even at step 3 I can see the current library in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library which has no photos, but when I access time machine any point before the NOW option the iphoto library in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library is missing from the finder window.
As you can see here it is
and now its gone. I have no explanantion.
How do I go about moving this question as you suggested. -
I am using OS Yosemite 10.10.2. I was working in iPhoto 9.6.1 with iPhone 5 attached and moving items from iCloud to iPhoto. iPhoto suddenly deleted all the photos in my photo library and displayed a screen as if I were using iPhoto for the first time. Regardless of what caused this, is there a way to recover the lost photos? Thanks!
You might have accidentally used the Command+Option+Delete key combination described below to move them the to iPhoto Trash bin:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library. -
Ok to clarify -
1. i want to go into my photos on my iphone 6.
2. create a new folder in shared folders.
3. Add an entire album of photos from my photo library rather than having to select individual photos.
4. Share with friends.
Surely the reason i have saved certain photos into albums already from my mac means i like the selection already. So i would like to just share the whole album rather than having to select all the individual photos from the album. Ive tried but maybe im being a doofus and missing something??????

KrisThis is normal and is how Apple handles photos.
There are NOT duplicate photos.
Just as a song is in your itunes library and you can access that exact same song from a playlist, all photos synced to iphone are in the photo library and those exact same photos (NOT duplicates) can be accessed from the individual albums.
It is working exactly as it should. -
I have 2 Macs - an iMac which holds my main iPhoto library and a Mac Book Pro which holds a subset of the library. How can I transfer photos and their metadata from the main library to the smaller 1 on the Mac Book Pro?
Link the two Macs together and use iPhoto Library Manager

I'm trying to import photos from my iphoto library, but keep getting a message saying I cant import from 7.1.5, that I need to upgrade to 7.1.5 or later. But I have version 8.1.2. I don't know what to do. I've been able to import in the past.
Sounds like an issue with the iPhoto Library
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

After updating to IOS 6.0.1 I cannot copy photos from the iPhoto library to the iPhone. The events appear correctly but the photo count in all the Events is 0

I believe you will find you can again sync Photos if you delete the "iPod Photo Cache", but predict that any subsequent attempt will fail. In my case, the enxt sync removes all the photos again - I've seen other reports of error messages upon sync. Mine just fails silently. :-) -

I just installed Aperture 3 from a CD. i also imported my photos from my Iphoto library. After importing most of the photos imported are blurry and it tells me the program is "processing" and it never stops. What do I do?

JaneFirst check to be sure your comuter is 'Authorized'.
Plug in your device and select it from the 'Devices' list in iTunes.
You can manually manage the content from the Summary tab OR sync the tunes and other media from the other tabs (music, apps, photo's etc).
You can sync different content to different Devices from the same iTunes library. I have 2 iPhones, multiple iPods, multile iPads etc all on the same library with different content on each device.
