Moving Photos within Album

The photos are jumping around when I am moving them to another location within the same album. It is hard to get them in the correct place.  I am using 3.2.1 and have not had this problem until last week.

Hi Peggy.  That should not be happening.  As soon as you reposition an Image (by dragging), the sort order should change (automatically) to "manual" and your manual sort should stick.  What sort order are you seeing in the sort-order drop-down at the top left of the Browser?
I can confirm that 3.2.1 on 10.6.8  works as it should on my machine.
Have your tried re-booting or doing any of the regular trouble-shooting?
Do you see the vertical green "drop line" when dragging an Image (but before dropping it)?

  • Moving photos within albums

I am using HP Essential 3.5 and I have created an album from the library. I want to rearrange the pictures and I am using the drag method as described but once I leave the album the pictures have reverted to their original positions when I return. How can I get them to stay in their new positions.

Hello greekil. I understand you are having issues formatting your albums to your liking. I have tinkered around with software, slightly. If you adjust the pictures in the album, then save the album immediately, it should keep them in the same spot.
Additionally, this is assuming all settings, relating to albums, haven't been adjusted since you started using this program.
I will continue to assist you with the issue by researching it. I need to know your computer model and operating system to continue troubleshooting.
If you need assistance locating the model number, you can reference this website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c00033108

  • Moving photos within iPhoto library

Until a few minutes ago, I was able to arrange photos within my iPhoto library by simply dragging  them. It was so convenient. Other photos just moved out of the way to make things easier. Now, however, although I can still drag  photos, I can't get them to stay anywhere. I'm sure the fix is easy, but what is it?

B., C., D., are not Places. They are Lists.
So are Faces and Places. Lists.
The Only Place is Library. Events and Photos are the same thing. Two ways of looking at exactly the same thing. Two windows to the same room. To views of the same material. If it's in Photos then it's in Events and vice versa.
It is possible that 'Last 12 Months' lists all your Photos, but only if all your photos are taken in the last 12 months.
Events (and Photos) contain all your images.
You say that there are no files in iPhoto. I can acept that. I had been calling graphs, or written material, etc.   files, but I can see why you call them photos. That's okay with me.
You have also been using the word 'file' for Albums (at least) as in 'In my "sheet music" file...' So, you're using 'file' to denote individual items and arbritrary groups of items interchangeably. The problem with that is it's hard for me to give accurate information as your use of the word is ambiguous.

  • How can I sort my photos within albums on the iPad? Apple software *****!

The primary reason I got an iPad was to use it as a portfolio of my photography. How is it possible that with Apple software you can't easily sort photos in a custom order within albums?!? I've heard there is a way to use Dropbox to work around (ignore) Apple software. Any help? If Apple engineers are reading this, can you please address this? And can we not use something called iTunes to work with pictures? No sense here.

It's a lot easier with Photo Manager Pro.

  • How can I rearrange photos within album in iPhoto 9.5

I used to be able to do this in older iphoto applications. I have gone to View and checked manual and I still cannot arrange the photos within an albun manually.

In an album you simply drag the photos where you want them - that is one reason to use albums for organization rather than events

  • Moving photos in album

I've run into a very annoying problem - when I try to rearrange a group of photos the last photo moves to the first position in the group. For example: I have 100 photos in album, (sorted by file name) I select a group of photos (45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50) and move them to the beginning of the series ( before photo number 1). The problematic result is a rearrangement of the moved group: 50, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49. I suspect a bug. Waiting for update or solution...
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

The resulting order of those photos that you selected to move will be the same as the order in which they were selected. So if you select starting with 50 and go to 45 they will end up at the top beginning with 50 and descending to 45.
If you select them randomly between 45 and 50 they will end up in the order you selected them.

  • Moving photos within an event

How do I move the photos within an event so that they are in the order that I desire?

that is not a feature of iPhoto - events are basically time/date based

  • Organizing photos within albums alphabetically or numerically

My photos are organized on my computer alphabetically or numerically, but when they sync to my iPad they become jumbled inside the albums.  How can I get them back in order?

On iOS 5+ they are sorted by the 'date modified' field - so you either need to manipulate their date modified fields, or you could consider using a third-party photo management app such as Photo Manager Pro which allows you to sort your photos within it by filename or date (ascending or descending), type, or you can drag them into your own sort order

  • Moving photos within events

How do I MOVE photos within events?

    You can't.
Events are automatic organisation based strictly on date and time. Manual sorting is not available. Put another way, Events are a very basic organisation for those who don't want to think about it.
Use Albums instead. They are much more flexible and include Manual Sorting. You can create an Album of an event simply by dragging the Event to the Album heading in the iPhoto Window. Albums simply reference photos in the Library and so involve no duplication - they take up no extra disk space.

  • Moving Photos between Albums

When I drag a photo from Album 1 to Album 2, it copies the photo while leaving it in Album 1. Then I have to open Album 1 and delete the photo, so that it resides only in Album 2.
How can I move (not copy) a photo from Album 1 (delete it) to Album 2 ?

When I'm in an album and drag a photo to another album I'm still in the first album where I can then delete the photo when the drag is completed. Dragging a photo to another album in the Source pane does not put me in that second album. I have to click on the second album to get there. Not sure what you're experiencing. Here's what it looks like for me dragging from Album PDF to Profile test. I'll remain in the PDF album until I click on the other one.

  • Moving Multiple photos within albums in the Organizer...

How do I select and move multiple files between albums in the Organizer?  Using Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on an imac with Lion.  (New to Mac - previous PC user for years!)

You can select the images you want to move and drag drop the other album name on them.
As of removing the album association with the older album, simply right click the selected set of files >> Remove from Album >> (album name)
    Thanks

  • Moving photos in albums

I have created an album but when i add photos they go to the end. How do i move them to different locations within the album

Unfortunately there is no way to move or organize photos on the iPad itself. To do that you would have to do all that on your computer and then sync the iPad.

  • Error when moving photos to Albums PSE 12

When I'm in the Organizer "All Media" and try to move a photo to an existing album I get an error message.  I've tried both moving the album over the photo and moving the photo over to the album.  Same error.  I've tried different photos.  Same error. I've looked up the instructions in the manual.  It just doesn't work.

Yes, making a new album and trying to move photos to it works.  I then was able to delete that album and move the pics to the old albums.  There is definitly a bug there somewhere that needs to be fixed!  So far this PSE 12 is very buggy and unstable.  At the price paid it should be fixed!

  • Organise photos within Album in iPhoto on iPad

Yesterday I purchased the iPhoto app for my iPad, this is due to someone recommending it to me as an easy option of presenting artwork as a portfolio. I have a batch of JPEGs in an album that I want to display in a certain order, so I named them for example 'iPad app_p01' 'iPad app_p02' and so on. But when I synced the album into iPhoto on the iPad the photos are in a random order and the only option I have is to view them by newest or oldest, no option for by name.
Please can someone help me, this seems like a really obvious option to include in a photo app.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The iPad only sorts by date, and the date is the "date modified", so if you change the version name, you are modifying the date.
I have not tried it myself, but this post looks promising:   Re: How do I sort events in iPhoto for iOS?

  • Photoshop Elements 10 - Moving photos within stacks

I am trying to move photos from one stack to another, both of which are in the same album. Direction is required.

Though there's no direct way of doing this. I would suggest a workaround.
    > Select the album
    > The stack which you want to move photos from, say A - Keep it expanded
    > The stack where you want to move photos to, say B - Keep it collapsed
    > From A select photos you want to move to B
    > Right click >> Stack >> Unstack selected photos
    > Once done, press 'Ctrl' key and select stack B ( This is done to retain [previous selection, On MAC use Cmd key )
    > Right click >> Stack >> Stack selected photos
    > Press ok to the dialog which says that the selected photos included stacks as well
    Hope this helps
    Thanks
