Moving Photoshop 6.0 to another computer

We have a small company that has recently reduced staff. Among those we let go was our graphic artist.
Since we will have occasional need for a graphics program I am trying to reinstall the program on my computer but am having problems registering.
I contacted Adobe but they will no longer provide support for this old product.
Since we will only be doing occasional work in photoshop, mainly to edit the occasional .eps photo for our catalogue, it does not pay to upgrade.
What can I do to enable use of this old program that I bought and paid for?.
Are there open source solutions for editing eps files?

Thanks for quick reply.
The OS is Windows XP Pro with lots of memory.
Photoshop is running fine, but I just assumed that because I was unable to register, it would not allow me to continue working after a few days.
I'll keep on using Photoshop for now and if it stops working, I'll try out GIMP.
Photoshop 6 was not protected by activation so if it's running you are good to go.
Registration is a separate process to get your ownership recorded by Adobe. In this case it has no value whatever.

  • Moving photoshop elements 3 to another computer

I am upgrading my computer to another machine, both xp. How do I move my photoshop elements 3.0 to the new machine and maintain tags and such? Also, I have placed pse 3.0 on my wife's machine and would like to place my photos that are within 3.0 on her machine also, while also maintaining tags, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using PSE3 Backup or Burn options: doing either of these direct to a CD or DVD does not enable multi-session burning of a disc, ie. adding to a disc that's part-empty. This is a nuisance as I don't want to create lots of discs with a few Mb of data on them. PSE3 Knowledgebase says I can use a 3rd Party burner (I have Sonic's Record! Now) for backup by doing a backup of Catalog from PSE3 first to my hard disc using PSE3 burner and then using 3rd Party burner to copy from my hard disc to a CD/DVD - as Sonic's burner allows multi-session then, hey, I'm home! The problem is that to just burn selected photos from the PSE3 browser (with metadata, etc.) using > File > Burn > Move/Copy, then this allows selection only of my CD/DVD drive as destination and not the hard drive. Hence I can't get to multi-session burning as described above for Backup. If I just use Sonic burner to copy images from the source files on my hard disc (ie. not going though PSE3 at all) then I'm afraid I'll lose metadata, etc. related to images in PSE3. Any suggestions, please?

  • I've moved my Aperture library to another computer, and masters are referencing an old path name.  How can I update these references?  Reloctating masters does not work in this case :(

I've moved my Aperture library from one computer to another using Finder.
I merged the library with one which was already on the computer.
Now, the photos I imported have reference to the old path name on my old computer.
How can I update these references as "Relocate Masters" does not work in this case?

Just one suggestion to be able to reconnect all at once:
Create a smart album containing the images with missing masters:
File -> New ->  Smart Album,     and add a rule: File Status is "Missing"     (or File Status is "offline")
Then select the images in this album and go to the File menu:
and select:   File -> Locate referenced File
If you are lucky, Aperture will reconnect all at once, if you point the first image version to its counterpart.

  • Moving Final Cut Studio to another computer

I just got a new G5 and want to take my Final Cut Studio off my Power Book G4 and put it on the G5 and then instal Final Cut Express on the Power Book.
Can I transfer the license to another computer and if so how is my question.
Thank you for your time, Robert

All you need to do is remove it from the powerbook, and install it on the G5. The license for the softare is for the software, not what machine it is on. But it can only reside on one machine...which you know.
    Good for you.

  • Moving Ipod and Itunes to another computer - purchased items will not load

I recently moved my music and video from one computer to another. All music that I loaded from CD moved fine. The items that I purchase from the iTunes store, was erased from my iPod but remains in my library. Additionaly, when I purchased more music on the new computer, it goes into the library, but not onto the iPod. I have not deauthorized the first computer, but I need to somehow "authorize" the new computer, but I don't know how.

  • Moving Photoshop Elements 9 to New Computer

We had been using Photoshop Elements 9 on a Windows computer.  It died and was replaced with a Mac. The Mac also runs Windows in a virtual environment when needed, and it has the disc drive from the former Windows computer installed.
We cannot get Photoshop to run.  meanwhile, we have the disc and box, but we don't know how to load Photoshop again without a disc drive on the Mac.  meanwhile, it seems like everything should already be on the had disk drive that is attached.
Help appreciated.  My daughter has a school project that needs photoshop.

do not move/migrate any adobe programs including pse.
install pse using the mac install file on your disk.  or download the install file using the below info.
if you follow all 7 steps, you can download a trial via one of the links on this page using a browser that accepts cookies:  http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-9-premiere-elements-9-direct-download-links.h tml
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a download problem (eg, you see an error page or you are offered an incorrect version), you probably didn't follow all 7 steps.  typically, failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem, but your browser must also allow cookies so that (a restrictive browser setting) is another potential source of problems.

  • Moving originals and modified to another computer

I'm having an issue copying photos over from one mac to another. I made the mistake this weekend of importing photos from my camera to my work computer, and now I want them on my home mac.
I tried coping the folders in both the originals and modified and pasted to the home library, but they didn't show up when I launched iPhoto. Then I tried copying over the roll's data, and that didn't work.
I also tried renaming the roll's folders as the numbers were not out of sync.
Any thoughts? Isn't this all XML driven?

    Slapshot Scott
It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss.
Remember, iPhoto is a database, data has to be imported. Simply putting it into a folder is not enough. This is further complicated by the fact that iPhoto will not import from the iPhoto Library Folder.
If you have edited and tagged etc, and don't want to lose this information, then use iPhoto Library Manager and merge the required elements of the two libraries. You can download iPLM from here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/bwebster/iphotolibrarymanager.html
Otherwise, simply put the files on the desktop and go file -> Import.

  • How do I install Photoshop Elements 11 on another computer

In january I purchased and downloaded Adobe Photoshop 11.  Today I purchased a 'better' computer.  How do I get my photoshop program transferred over to my new computer?

If you have retail license then can install upto two computers.
Is this your second instance then you can download trial Photoshop Elements 11 from following link and activate it by putting serial key.

  • Moving from one pc to another

is there aeasy way of moving all playlists and downloaded records etc from a old pc to a new one without using CD or DVD writers etc

Sorry, "OS" is the Operating System.
    What you are trying to do needs to be accomplished in two separate operations. First, and most time consuming, is moving 3500 music files to another computer. For this I'm afraid there is no quick way, but the methods available are all fairly easy. From most to least convenient;
    1. If you have an external hard drive (USB), transfer to the music files then "sneaker net" (physically move the hdd to the new computer) them over to your new computer. If you do not have an external hdd, you can pick up a 250G USB external drive for about CDN$100.
    2. If your home network allows both computers to be connected to the same network, ie you have a router or switch, you can use the "File & Setting Transfer" utility in Windows. Instructions available in Windows help.
2b. Rather than use the wizard, you can just straight copy the files using "drag and drop". Very time consuming.
    3. If your home network does not allow this, you can do the same thing using a "cross over" cable to connect your two computers together via the network connection.
    4. Remove the hard drive from your old computer and install it on the secondary IDE channel. This assumes that both computers use the same ATA type; IDE, EIDE or SATA. From there, you just copy the files over. This solution requires a fair bit of tech knowledge.
As for moving your playlists, that is really easy. Use the "Export Library" option in iTunes. Complete instructions available in the Help files.
Of course, there is a REEEEEALLY easy way to do it. Bring both computers to the Apple store (or local tekky shop) or to a tech savvy friend, and let them do it all for you.
Hope this helps. Happy New Year.

  • HT204318 moving itunes library to a new computer with different partition letters

Want to move my itunes library to a different computer (actually my older computer, which will be a dedicated itunes box). I know how to do it, except for one thing - am not sure how it affects things that in its new home it will be on partition 'D' rather than 'E' where it is now.  Can I still just copy everything over (via external drive) or will everything be left with the wrong drive letter?

As long as you've moved the complete library (database, media folders, artwork, ...), and its in the "standard" layout where:
the iTunes Media folder is in the same folder that contains the database file (iTunes Library.itl), and
all your media files are contained within the hierarchy of folders under iTunes Media
you're fine.  First time you run after the change of drive letters, or moving the drive containing to another computer, hold down SHIFT while you start iTunes; when you get this prompt:
click on Choose Library..., navigate to the iTunes library folder on the drive holding the library, select the iTunes Library.itl file and click Open.

  • Moving photoshop from one computer to another

i am moving Photoshop - creative design suite 5.5 from one computer to another.  It has already been uninstalled from this computer.  the install program is asking the upgrade code.  the challenge code will be told when someone answers.

You have not explained your issue very clearly.  What problem are you having installing CS5.5 on another machine?
If CS5.5 was an upgrade from a previous version you purchased you will need the serial number for the previous version in order to confirm that the upgrade is valid.

  • HT1349 I have just moved from one pc to another.  I had used 5 computers to attach to itunes.  I went in and disabled all 5 of my accounts but cant get the new computer to give me a prompt to authorize this computer.  Any ideas?

    Hellow everyone,
I have just moved from one PC to another.  They are windows pc's not macintosh.  When i installed itunes on the new computer it stated that I already had 5 devices authrorized for this account.  I did a little reading and went in and deathorized all 5 PC from the account as I am sure it was a couple pcs ago and a few iphones.   When I try and go in and authorize an account I cant see anywhere where there is a prompt to authorize the new PC.  I go into store and all it says is that there are no devices associated to this account.  What I would like to do is associate my new PC and my iphone to this account and hopefully restore from the cloud all of my music and programs.
Any idea what I am doing wrong here or how I can resolve this. Thanks in advance.
    Respectully.
    CK

if it's music then drm is not used there any more and drm can be removed from previously bought drm material without cost

  • Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem.  When I want to add songs, I get itunes message that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music?

Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem on a Dell computer.  But now when I want to add songs, I get itunes message of death that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music without erasing everything on my new iphone?

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me.  Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?
