Moving Photoshop CS 5 to a new windows computer

I have a new 64 bit Windows computer.  I need to 'copy' my current version of Photoshop CS5 from my 32 bit Windows computer to my new system.  How do I do this.  My copy of Photoshop CS5 was an upgrade from CS4 and I do not have a disk.  I also have Photoshop CS5 installed on my 64 bit laptop and I don't want to remove that copy.
I understand that I must de-activate the 32 bit version but I'm not sure how to do that?
Thank you,
J.

You can't "copy" a Photoshop installation.  It will never work properly.  It must be installed on the new system.
Just download the (large) Photoshop installer package directly from Adobe.com, or copy it from your other computer.  All you'll need is a valid, legitimate serial number, and a valid serial number from CS4 as well as it was an upgrade (you've been through the process before).
I advise you burn a disc of your own containing the installer at some point, because it won't continue to be available from Adobe.com forever.
In order to have the maximum of two activations, you'll need to deactivate the copy on your 32 bit system.  To do that, just open the app on your 32 bit system and choose Help - Deactivate.  Follow the prompts.
Once you've got Photoshop installed on the new system, remember to go through its updates.  The installer Adobe provides still is at the 12.0.0 level I believe.
I'm not sure whether you're asking about "copying" any of your settings or stored files (e.g., Camera Raw developing settings for various raw files) from your old system.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.

What happens when you try to sync the iphone to the new computer?

    That's Adobe for you!
No matter how much we request, beg and/or complain, nothing is done about the miserably small interface.
We're still left with the three inadequate choices in preferences:
Other than that, you can change your monitor's resolution.

I recently had to get a new windows computer, old one crashed. My tech guy got all my itunes library over to the new one, and all my songs are there. However, some won't play and ask me for the password for the apple id they were purchased under. 2 of these ids are obsolete and I have no access to those accts. The songs all played on my old computer without prompting me for a password.
Any ideas how I can get around this hassle and get them all to play? We're talking about 800 songs that are being obstinate. The new computer is authorized under my "new" Apple id, which I have used for years.

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

    What instructions?

You don't import photos from the iPhone to your computer using iTunes.
See this -> iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Note this only applies to photos taken with the iPhone. Any photos you previously added to your iPhone using iTunes should be copied from old computer to new computer.

  • HT5085 purchased music on new windows computer

cannot find pervious purchased music on new windows computer.  Logged in, purchased, all albums    ---   nothing

You are looking in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage, and do the artists that you've bought music from show on the left-hand side of that screen ?  If you've changed countries since buying the music, or if the rights-holder has removed the music from the store, then you won't be able to redownload it - it also won't show if it's hidden : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.
Or if you go into the Store tab in Edit > Preferences  and click on 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' do they then show in the Music part of your iTunes library with a cloud icon against them for redownloading ?

Yes, that is exactly what it means.
The right way to do it is to first rebuild your library on the new computer, and then sync the iPod.
You can rebuild your library by copying the library from the old computer or from your backup.
If neither of those options is available, you can extract the songs from the iPod, although the process is a bit hairy.  See this guide for the procedure, written by Forum member Steve/turingtest2.

  • Need help moving photoshop 7.0.1 to new computer

I hope everyone is doing well. I also hope someone can help me out. I need to move/load Photoshop 7.0.1 onto a different computer - o/s Windows XP Professional v.2002. We are a small company with no IT department and the original CDs and product keys/proof of purchase are lonnnnnnnnng gone. Upgrading is not an option at this time, the powers that be will most likely tell me to do my photoshop work on the laptop, but I want everything at my fingertips at my desk. Too much to ask? Apparently it is because I cannot figure out how to load onto my desktop.
I've read, in several places, that Adobe allows the user to download the software to two computers, but I don't know if its ever been loaded elsewhere and when I moved the file from my laptop to our rustic server - didn't work. Then I tried copying everything to a memory stick and moving it to my new computer BUT there is no .exe file when I do this. I can't make it run. And never did I receive an messages that scream - hey you, you can't load this on more than two computers.
I called Adobe and they informed me that they no longer support this version over the phone and that I should check out the forums. Unfortunately, I cannot find the info I need on the forum. Perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology in my search - I have tried several variations...loading, moving, reinstalling....and come up empty. Actually, come up with lots of stuff (from years ago) that doesn't help. In one post I thought could be the holy grail, there was a link that bottomed out - took me nowhere.
I don't what else to do, I don't know what the google anymore. I'm hopeful someone has an answer other than an upgrade. Thanks.

Note that I am assuming you're properly licensed to be able to run the app on your new computer.  I do not propose doing anything illegal.
With the ollld versions of Photoshop, like the one you have, you can try going through a process like this:
    1.  Copy the entire c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0 folder to the new computer.
    2.  Try to run Photoshop on the new computer.
    3.  Note any "missing DLL" message.
    4.  Locate the DLL on the old computer (e.g., in C:\Windows\System32 or wherever), and copy it to the same place on the new computer.
    5.  Repeat steps 2 through 4 until no more "missing DLL" messages present themselves.
There may be other types of messages you'll see.  They're usually descriptive enough to be able to determine what it's looking for that it does not have.  If you get one you're unsure of how to handle, post it here.

  • Why am I getting an invalid serial number response when trying to install Photoshop Elements 10 on my new Windows 8.1 PC. It worked perfectly well on old now defunct Windows Vista PC

i'm not able to install Photoshop Elements 10 on my new PC. I'm told the serial number is invalid. Why? It has 24 digits separated into 4 digits at a time by hyphens. Am I typing it wrongly?

i just had same issue.  never installed on old pc which is a window 7 convert from xp.  Now installing on laptop dell win 8, would not accept number. so i decided to install on the win 7 old pc (which has no firewall security because I'm dumping machine)  and it worked.  So I turned off firewall on win 8 machine and it worked.  I had read that  you should turn off the fire wall.  Try that.  Di

I am quite happy running Photoshop  Elements 4 on my exsisting 32bit computer with Win XP, but will it be compatable with my new 64 bit computer running Windows 7? If the answer is no then what will be the easiest and most cost efficient solution so that I can maintain my existing photo Libuary.
    Any advice will be appreciated.

  • Can I move  Illustrator 10.0.3 &  Photoshop 7.0 to my new Windows 7 machine?

I have Adobe Illustrator 10.0.3 and Adobe Photoshop 7.0 installed on a Windows XP machine.  I want to move both installations to my new Windows 7 machine. I do not have my original installation disks.  How can I move these two installations to the Windows 7 machine?  Thanks in advance...

You cannot "move" them  because you somehow would have to serialize/ license them and aside from al lsorts of tricks that can only be done with a proper install. Some users have successfully installed PS7 in compatibility mode and turning off all security stuff, but Illu 10 is a hopeless case. It's not compatible as Arpit said. In any case, you'd still have to find the installers somewhere. Adoeb does not provide downloads of that old stuff...

  • How do I moved my saved photos to my new Windows 8.1 computer?

I have Zoom Browser 4.1.0.46 which came with my Canon SD100 about 10 years ago. I have hundreds of photos saved and I want to move them from my windows XP computer to my new windows 8.1 computer. How do I transfer them? They're in a folder titled c:\documentsandsettings\limited\mydocuments\mypictures. I have a 64g 3.0 USB thumb drive but I don't see any directions for saving the photos to the drive. Obviously I am not a computer guru. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'll start by saying I have no idea how Windows 8 works but you'r one very lucky person not to have lost your files to a hard drive failure in 10 years. BACK THEM UP. There are so many ways to both do a back up & transfer that we'll need more info to help. DO NOT just transfer them & rely on your new computer to keep on working forever or until the next time you upgrade. Buy at least 1 portable drive to copy them too & use it to copy them to the new computer. If you want to keep it really simple buy a "Click Free" back up drive & let it do the back up.
To help us make GOOD recommendations tell us about your old computer. Does it have a CD or DVD burner? If so what software does it have? If not how big is your photo library in megabites or gigabites? How big is your thumb drive? The more you can tell us the better we can help.

  • New Windows computer purchase- designed for Photoshop

What should I look for in a windows computer to run Photoshop in the most harmonious way?

I think it depends on your needs as to what will be optimal.
No to PS being very well threaded at all.
So GHz rule. So do SSDs! and RAM helps as long as you work with large files.
3 x 8GB is fine. Apple never lists the max RAM or drive capacity.
$200 BTO for 5870 now rather than later.
    Hitachi, OWC SSD, WD.

Even the 4-core 3.2GHz might do just fine and better $$ investment.
