Moving Photostream Photos from the Macbook
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro, upgrading from a Windows computer for the first time (Best decision i've ever made).
One thing I used to do on windows is every couple of months I would plug my iPhone/iPad into my old laptop and open the directory and move all the photos i've taken on my iDevice and thats stored in photostream and leave it in a new folder (say called January 2014-March 2014) which lets me keep the photos more organised and frees up the memory on all my devices.
Now with my MacBook, I can't figure out how to do this. I know the Photostream seems to all work through iPhoto but i can't figure out how to pretty much replicate what I used to do on Windows.
Can anyone give me a step-by-step guide on how to do this, if its possible?
I haven't much of a chance in playing around with iPhoto yet, but in my initial few tries i couldnt get it to work.
First for a manual sync connect the iPhone to your Mac with its USB cable and launch iPhoto. iPhoto will open, show all of the photos on your phone and give you the option to import all or just selected. Do not let iPhoto delete photos from the iPhone. Too many issues of successfull deletions and unsuccessful imports.
For future photos taken by the iPhone make sure the Mac is logged into your iCloud account in the System/iCloud preference pane and Photo Stream is checked:

Now on your iPhone make sure you're logged in with the same ID and password and you have Photo Stream enabled:
Whenever the iPhone is connected to a WiFi network and the Mac is on all new photos taken by the phone will be automatically imported into your iPhoto Library.

Here's how it works:
1 - it compares the databases and/or album.xml files of Libraries A and B.
2 - the files in A that are not in B are imported into B by copying the original files from A into B's Import folder.
3 - it then does the same for B.
4 - metadata is not copied.
It can be used to just copy from A to B and not sync both ways if desired. It will work with 2 libraries that are different versions, i.e. between an iPhoto 08 and iPhoto 09 library.

I'm finally moving my photos from my PC to my MacBook Pro. I have 8 years worth of photos organized into very specific albums. Can I import the album structure directly into iPhoto or am I going to have to recreate everything in iPhoto?
If you want to duplicate your Folder Tree in iPhoto:
Start at the bottom of the hierarchy and drag a folder of images to the Album Heading in iPhoto. The pics will be imported and an Album of the same name created.
You can then create the Enclosing Folders in the iPhoto Window (File -> New Folder) and drag the Album to it. Folders can contain other Folders (Nested Folders) and Albums.
However, is your folder system date based? Then this form of organisation is a bit pointless in iPhoto when Smart Albums or the Calendar tool (Click on the wee magnifying glass in the Search Box) mean you can find the photos taken on any day, month or year at a click. With Smart Albums it's easy to find photos from specific range - say, June 3 to August 25, 2009 etc.
If your folder system is theme based - Xmas pics, Birthday pics etc, then you'll find Keywords are much more flexible, and can be used in conjunction with other criteria for making Smart Albums and searches. -

What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)

Just plug my iphone in to a mac and copy a photo from the mac to my iphone.
I don't have internet access - I can't email it, or mobileme it, or dropbox it.iTunes. Other than that there is no direct method. However, do try the iPhone forums.

I saved photos from my Macbook Pro onto my Iphone (using itunes, 4 years ago). My macbook is now dead and I need to get the photos I saved off of my iphone 3GS transferred to a pc. Any help... From my PC I can only access "internal storage"
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The picture sycn is one way - computer to iphone. The photos are also reduced in size when synced to iphone so they are not of the original quality
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good at all, you can e-mail the pics to yourself - keep in mind they will never be of the original quality -
How can I transfer a small batch of photos from the new ipad to macbook pro? In theory, I should be able to keep my albums together this way (once uploaded to macbook pro, i can easily file them into a new album on macbook pro.) Not working for me! Macbook pro does include iphoto. I had no problem uploading ALL photos (3 or 4,000.) Help! Goal is to keep albums together.

I just set up a new computer running Windows 8.1. When I go to my icloud photostream, the pictures are in PNG format NOT JPG. When I open and upload photos from the photostream, the resolution is so low that the image quality is terrible. Help?!?
Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. I have downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements 11 on my new Macbook Pro. Why can't I see my scanner (Epson Perfection 3200 Photo) from the File>Import menu?
There was no driver update available (it said my driver was up to date), so I just deleted the scanner and restarted the computer. when it came up, the scanner had already been added again. With great anticipation I tried to import from Photoshop...but no luck (scanner was not visible). I finally ended up calling Epson (had great difficulty in locating a number for support) and they finally told me there is no driver update for OS X 10.10 and I should as a work around use "Image Capture" application. I tried it, and it works quite well.

Moving photos from the Photo Library to the Camera Roll
Hi,
I have recently moved all of the photos on my camera roll into the photo library, however I want to put some back onto the camera roll, but I can't figure out how to. I realize that there probably is no way because of what both of these albums are actually for, but I was wondering if there was any way possible.

Well I was able to move photos from the camera roll to the photo library by sending *the pictures via email to my dad's blackberry, then saving them to my computer from his phone, then putting them back on into the photo library*.

I never said that I did it directly, neither did I mean to imply that I was looking for a direct solution. This I guess is where our misunderstanding comes from. I just did not feel like repeating the whole process I went through. Regardless, I would rather this thread not derail into who said what and whose misunderstanding who. I now know that it is not possible to get pictures from the photo library to the camera roll in any way, so my question is answered for now at least. -
My MacBook Pro got wet and I lost all of my childs photos from the day she was born. Is there anyway I could get these pictures back from my iCloud? I actually care more for getting the photos back than I do my laptop. Please help! Thank

I assume these photos, or at least not all of them weren't in photo stream.
You should be able to recover your photos from a back up. -
How do I delete photos from the photostream on Iphoto?
My photostream on Iphoto won't let me delete pictures. I have already deleted the photos from the photostream on my iphone and even deleted the photos from the Iphoto library. Those photos still show up on the photostream, and I really want them gpne. I have already tried reading what the Help section says but it was no help to me...none of the options they gave were available. Help please!
