Moving Picture in Dropzone

Hi there,
I am having a problem moving my pictures once I drag them into a dropzone I created in Motion. I noticed in iDVD when dragging pictures into a dropzone I had the option of moving which part of the picture actual ends up showing in the dropzone.
In my Motion dropzone I can't move the picture at all once it's been dragged into it. I know I can fit, stretch, or center the image, but none of them let's me move it in the dropzone. I don't want my picture to be stretched or fit into the dropzone size (what is the difference between stretch and fit?). Center would be okay because it doesn't make the picture look squashed, but it doesn't center on what I want it to center on, and that's why I want to be able to move the picture around in the dropzone like I can in iDVD.
Can anyone tell me how I can do that, or if it's possible? Thanks so much!

No, not in iMovie. The PIP remains in the location you set. More advanced applications, such as Final Cut Express can probably do what you want (using key frames). But if you can wait until June, a new version of Final Cut Pro (FCP X) is due to be released at a very low price. It will retail for $US299 and will be available from the App Store. Can't wait to have a closer look at it. See Larry's Blog: http://www.larryjordan.biz/app_bin/wordpress/archives/1452

  • Needing help with moving pictures around

I am in need of help in moving pictures and images around
dreamweaver document window. My older brother gave me his computer
witch has dreamweaver MX (he is in Irag) so i can start building
building my own websites. I went to borders and bought a book on
dreamweaver MX. Here is where I am having a problem with: when ever
I bring a picture into the document window I can not move the
picture around the document window. The book say "place the
insertion point where you want the image to appear" but there is no
insertion point. There is just a straight line as if I am about to
type something. It's almost like I am in microsoft word. If I take
the mouse over the picture , and then left click and try to drag
the picture to the location I want it in, it doesn't move. Can
somebody PLEASE help me out with this problem. Thanks Jical

Nadia gave you a good place to start… Here is what you
have to understand. Web pages are based on specific code that tells
the viewer’s browser how to display the page. There has to be
something that says, “Put this picture in the lower right
hand corner, and center this image in the middle of the
    screen”
Then there are further instructions that say “Put this
text here and that link there”. So Dreamweaver (and most
other web developing programs) do not work like Illustrator or
PowerPoint where you can simply grab a picture and slide it around
    the page.
In its simplest form you might drag an image onto the
Dreamweaver design view page and click on the center button in the
    properties dialog.
Then type in text and center it, left justify, right justify,
etc. Add another picture and so on and you could possibly create a
passable web page. Now click on the Code view button and see what
code Dreamweaver generated in order to do all of this.
That is what you will really need to understand before you
can really get proficient at web design.
At the next level, you can start to add in tables. These
actually are similar to tables in Word. You can put text in one
cell, images in another, colored backgrounds, thick and thin
borders with contrasting colors, and you can start to see how to
“contain” your images as Nadia suggests.
Now look at the code again and see how these cells are
    defined around your content.
Once you understand how this works, you will get much more
comfortable with Dreamweaver. You will just have to get used to the
idea that it doesn’t work like all of the publishing software
that is only dependant upon its own format for layout. HTML is
dependant upon the many browsers, computers, operating systems,
user preferences, and a million other unknown factors.
That’s why this forum has more than 91,000 posts…

  • Bug in 2.1:  Moving pictures leaves stale thumbnail

This used to happen a lot with the original Lightroom Beta, but
rarely happened after the 2.1 RC.
It has happened three times with 2.1 final when moving pictures from a folder into a sibling, aka from:
    g:\pics\unpro into
    g:\pics\misc
But it doesn't always happen. Same symptom as before - the thumbnails don't get refreshed unless you restart lightroom.
It hasn't happened yet when moving pictures to a different drive.
    - Frank

It happened again and I did some experimentation.
It does not always happen, but it is repeatable. I've now
    reproduced it about 8 times.
Move one picture from one folder to another. Repeat until it happens.
I did a 'Relaunch and Rebuild' and then restarted Lightroom, and I had to move about 20 pictures (one by one) before it reoccurred.
What I am doing is dragging a picture from G:\pics\unpro into g:\pics\steve. I haven't done any changes to the pictures, I'm just organizing them a bit.
When the problem occurs, I notice the following:
I can see the moved picture in both folders, as if I had copied the picture, rather than moved it. Once I restart lightroom it is only in the correct folder.
On the disk, the picture is correctly in the new folder, and does
not exist in the original folder.
Let me know if you want me to try anything else.

  • Moving pictures in film rolls

Has anybody figured out how to slow down the scrolling when moving pictures from one roll to another? I keep whizzing by the roll I want.

This happens to me, too. I participated in a thread about this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3075268&#3075268
although nothing has really corrected the problem for me. And while I have the utmost respect for Terence Devlin, who is probably correct 99.9% of the time, I'm still not totally convinced that this is a mouse problem. [Sorry, TD.] I just don't see it in other contexts, (not even in Finder) but it happens consistently in iPhoto, and only when trying to drag selected items.
That being said, I have learned to live with and work around it. When moving pictures between rolls, I must keep all rolls closed except the one I select photos from. If the target roll is on screen with the beginning roll, there's no problem. If not, I may have to drop the photos in the closest roll to the target that I can manage. Like iPhoto leapfrog. Say I'm scrolling up. I may drop the photos into the highest roll on screen before iPhoto begins to hyper scroll. Then scroll the window to move that roll down, and drag them a second time upwards. Eventually the roll I'm in and the target roll will share the screen, and I can finish the job.
I'll be watching with interest to see if you find a solution. [Now TD will come correct me. That's okay, I'm used to it. And like I said, he's usually right. So he's probably right. Try anything he suggests and let us know if it works. :-)]

  • Moved picture folders around now won't sync with iPhone

I recently moved around some pictures and now most of my pictures will not sync to my iPhone.
I have tried deleting the photo cache, moving pictures into a single folder and resetting the sync history, uninstalled iTunes, restored phone, copied all my photos to another location, and each time I get an error that that my iPhone can't be read or written to or the device times out.
The strangest thing is most of the folders or pictures it doesn't seem to like were pictures that were on the phone previously or were not touched when I moved stuff around.
I am running Vista and have even tried single folders and that works for some but most error out.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I dowloaded the songs, and now it won't sync with my iphone.  I use icloud for my songs, and I also have imatch.  WHy can't I get these songs on there?
It is possibly an incompatibility with audio format or sample rate.
First, make sure that the songs play in iTunes on your computer.  If so, right-click and choose "create AAC version."  Use the new AAC version with your iPhone.

  • Is there a moving picture book app scam and virus?

I purchased moving picture book app (free) but then they advertised several books and purchased several to download.  I was charged through ITunes as an in app purchase but then the books never downloaded and when a couple of them did, the screen was blank.  I tried to report the problem but cannot select the purchase to report a problem.  I don't know what happened.  I read several reviews and others have experienced this.  I sent an email to ITunes support but have not received any email back.  What can I do?  The books apps were supposed to be for my child who has autism.  We felt we've been cheated.

Thanks MRLoon for your reply. I've read the adverts and saw the preview and that's why I decided to purchase the apps but I was unable to play any of the three apps that I downloaded.  I purchased 16 total thinking they would download immediately.  But after trying to download the first three and got nothing, I stopped.  I've already sent an email to the moving picture books app support team five days ago and have not received any feedback or reply.  If you are truly one of the owners, have your support team reply to my email.  I'll send another one today. And please have your people check to see if the current app is compatible with IOS 5. Is there a better working contact number or email for Moving Picture Books app?  Again, I appreciate your reply and any assistance you may provide.  I hope your nephew is doing well.

  • Moving Picture of face in Video

Hi guys, I am new to Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
I was wondering, how is it possible to make a moving picture of a face in a video such as the one shown in this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHRDW...eature=related
Thanks a lot for your help!

There's definatily a bunch of tracking done on that video.
Cutting the head head out (roto) is the least of your problems. Most of the shots look like a still of the face tracked onto other shots. You could take the 16 point garbage mask and cut out the face (but that would take forever use photoshop) then keyframe the scale and position over the head you want to replace.
That's how to do it in Premiere. But it would take forever.
In fact it would be quicker to learn After Effects then do it in there than it would to do it in Premiere pro.

  • Moving picture messages

    Hi,
I have a Nokia N95 8GB. I have tried to download a moving picture msg from jamster but for some reason it doesnt move on my screen.. just it still like a wallpaper.
do i need to change any settings?

You can do a couple of things, you need the Communication Centre in PC Suite for both.
The first is to simple mark all messages (CTRL+A) then copy them (CTRL+C). You can then paste them into any folder on your PC hard drive - they will be individual ".vmg" files that can be opened in the Communication Centre.
The second is to mark all messages then click File>Export - the messgaes will be exported into a ".csv" file that can be opened in programs like Microsoft Excel. You can export the inbox, sent items and drafts messages this way, but not as a single file, you have to do each box separately.

I have Samsung Reality cell phone and I have moved all my pictures from my phone to card. Once I inserted SD card into laptop, pop-up says the card is not formatted. The computer will not read card and phone now will not read card. Are these pictures lost?

Hello there, ENGALL! I'm so sorry that you've encountered an issue with viewing your pictures. I certainly hope that they're not lost for good! I'm curious about something. Are the pictures confirmed to be no longer on the device memory of your Samsung Reality? Have you tried putting the SD card back into the Reality? If so, what happens when you try to view the contents? Do you know if your line was set up for Verizon Cloud or Backup Assistant? Finally, have you tried inserting the card in a different computer?

  • Moving Pictures folder to an external hard disk

In order to have more space on my hard disk, I bought an external HD where I wanted to store my Itunes and Aperture library.
Formatted the exteral HD as Mac OS extended journaled, in order to back it up using Time Machine to my Time Capsule.
I used Iphoto before going over to Aperture.
In order to move my files I selected all my projects in Aperture, and then used relocate masters to move them to my new HD.
This added 92 GB to my new external HD.
I made a check by removing the external HD, and as expected saw that if I wanted to adjust pictures in Aperture, the section adjustment was grey.
After plugging in the HD it worked again as it should.
So I thought all had gone well.
I noticed that not all the pictures were found though, and I saw that the pictures that were not found had a keyword " iphoto original"
After moving from Iphoto to Aperture, I had deleted all Iphoto files, so did not expect to find any reference to Iphoto.
I open these pictures, but Aperture can not find the originals.
The Pictures folder in my home directory was still on my internal HD under users, and contained 90GB; all missing pictures are there as well.
I copied that folder to my external HD, and moved the original folder to the trash.
When I opened Aperture no pictures were there at all.
Of course I put the pictures back from the trash, but now I am wondering:
Aperture was clearly using the Pictures file in my home directory; why was it not using the masters I relocated?
How can I move the Pictures file to my external HD? I now have the relocated master file on my external HD, a copy of the Pictures file from my home directory, and also the Pictures file in my internal HD, which takes up a lot of space.
Where can I find the original pictures from the deleted Iphoto library; they are all in the Picture file, and with normal size of several MB per picture, but Aperture can not seem to find them.
Lot of questions, would appreciate it if someone could help me out.

Aperture will only relocate original that it is using. You seem to have had a mixed library, part of the originals in your "Pictures" folder, part of them in your iPhoto Library.
If not all original masters have been relocated, you may not have had selected all images when relocating. I suggest to simply flag all images, that are still on your internal drive and then to relocate them as well.
To be able to flag the, disconnect again your external volume and search for images that have the filestatus "online".
A smart album with the smart rule "Add rule: Exif: Filestatus is online", and set the source of the smart rule to "Library". Then flag all images.
Now connect your drive again and select all images in the "Flagged" album and relocate them to your external drive.
    Do they now move over?
You can check the location of referenced images by using the command "File > Show in Finder".

  • Moving picture from laptop hard drive to larger external hard drive

I am not changing anything in my system.  I am using windows 7 and will continue to.  No change in elements version (10).  Please give me a step by step instructions on how to move my pictures from my computer hard drive to an external hard drive (this will NOT be a back up) but the primary locaton for my pictures.  I will keep elements program on my computer and when I want to work on my pictures or download more pictures from my camera  I will connect to the external hard drive.

    Jan9368 wrote:
    A few questions
When I drag and drop my pictures am I looking at my pictures in elements organizer?
No, there are two ways to see your folders in PSE11 and PSE12 :
By default, it's the 'My Pictures' view. It shows a flat list of all the folders containing images registered in the catalog; all the folder of the last level, without the tree organization. You may have missed (like many, many users...) the 'Pictures' view which you obtain in clicking on the small yellow icon in the title bar of 'My Pictures'. You are shown all your folders and subfolders, all your different drives. It's very close to the folder view of Windows explorer, and you can do most of the operations you would do in the explorer.
You'll understand better if you take the time to play with the 'Pictures' view, where you can collapse or expand subfolders, or right click to show 'display all folders' when they are collapsed.
Let's say you have all your pictures under the default 'Pictures' folder of Win7. You should see the list of your drives in the lower part of the same left panel.
I suppose you don't want to change the default 'Pictures' location in Win7. If your external drive has the letter F:, you'll create a new master folder : 'F:/My Pictures bis' for instance. To test the process, you'll select one of your folders under Pictures, drag and drop on F:/My Pictures bis. Then you can check the result by viewing your pictures in different order, by testing your tags, albums etc. All should work exactly the same as before as long as your external drive is plugged in. (If it is not, you'll get 'missing files' warnings which will disappear if you plug in your external drive).
When you are satisfied with the process, you can move other folders (their subfolders will follow).
You could move only the upper level 'Pictures' folder of Win7 in a single step, but you'll feel more secure by doing this in several moves, since moving a big amount of files takes a long time (not longer than a move via the explorer,  moving a library of 150 GB like mine requires maybe 2 hours...)
Since you are on Win7, be sure to give all the access rigths to your external drive...
Another Windows trick : the catalog will remember and register the letter drive, F: in our example.
If you plug-in another  accessory in the meantime and the drive is now assigned G:, you'll have problem.
The best way to avoid such a case would be to assign a letter like M: so that your external drive will be recognized in all cases.

  • Moving pictures & catalog to newly installed second hard drive

    Hi!
I just checked John's file (http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Move_your_photos_1) on moving files. My friend, a real non-technical guy, had a second drive installed on his computer. Up to now he only had one physical drive with C: and D: logical drives. All his pictures are sitting on the D: drive and there is nothing else on that drive.
I am supporting him remotely in Vancouver, BC from Austria (with logmein.com).
The new drive, 500 GB, is formatted and the chap installing it gave it the drive letter J:
    My questions:
    1) I change the drive letter D: to say X:, change the new drive's letter to D: and then do a disk copy from from X: to D: will this work?
    2) Have my friend do a normal backup to his external USB drive and then do a restore with "Restore to original folder location" to the new J: drive and he uses from now on J: drive. Check that the Preferences are set correctly.
    3) Simply move with Organizer all files to the new J: drive, leaving the catalog on the D: drive.
    4) Any other good ideas? My friend has about 9,000 pictures on the file, probably quite a few disconnected ones.
Thanks and have a nice day!
    Alexander
(Waiting for October 9th and PSE 8 as announced on Amazon. Surely John you soon will have another long list of items to add to your index! GGGGG!)

    Alexander,
Using Display > Folder Location view to move the photo folders is the most straightforward way of moving the photos to a new drive, as described in the FAQ you referenced:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Move_your_photos
The question remains of what to do with the catalog folder:
    1. Is it on the C drive (where it usually resides) or the D drive?
    2. If it's on the C drive, there's no harm in leaving it there -- it uses relatively little space.
    3. If it's on the D drive, and your friend doesn't mind leaving it there, then leave it there.
    4. If your friend really wants to move it from the D drive (e.g. so he can free up that drive and use some partitioning tool to merge D back into C), then he'll need to move the catalog folder:
    a. If he's on PSE 7, he can safely move the catalog folder using File > Catalog > Move.
    b. If he's on PSE 6 and he doesn't have any projects (e.g. slideshows) or files archived to DVD/CD, he can safely move the catalog folder using File > Catalog > Move.
    c. Otherwise, he'll have to use the backup/restore method (rather than Display > Folder Location view) to get the catalog folder moved along with the photos to the J drive.
