Moving pictures from Ovi to standard folders

This probably sounds stupid, but now I have used Ovi Suite to copy my photos from my N95 onto my computer, I cannot seem to do anything with them.  They must be on my computer, as they still show in Ovi Suite when my phone is not plugged in.  But I cannot actually see them anywhere in any folders when I check through Explorer.  The Nokia information says to drag and drop onto a folder, but when I try doing that there is an X over the photo and nothing happens.  If I try to right click "Copy to device" is greyed out, and there is no option "copy to computer".  So I cannot find any way to get the images into a folder where I can work on them with Photoshop, print them etc.  Help!

The Photos transferred from your Phone by OviSuite are usually stored in My Documents\My Pictures under directories with names like 2010-11 [for Photos transferred in Nov 2010].  You may have changed that default directory.
If you can't find those directories you could try searching for the Photos themselves.  When imported by OviSuite he photos thenselves have been named DDMMYYYY001, DDMMYYYY002 etc.  So take a new photo on say 5 Nov 2010, sync the photos to the computer then search for a file named 05112010001.jpg.  Don't worry about the numbering if you have already taken photos on the 5th Nov 2010.  Even if the test photo is the 100th taken that day there will be a 05112101001.jpg on your computer.
This is all based on OviSuite 2.2.1.23.

  • Moving picture from laptop hard drive to larger external hard drive

I am not changing anything in my system.  I am using windows 7 and will continue to.  No change in elements version (10).  Please give me a step by step instructions on how to move my pictures from my computer hard drive to an external hard drive (this will NOT be a back up) but the primary locaton for my pictures.  I will keep elements program on my computer and when I want to work on my pictures or download more pictures from my camera  I will connect to the external hard drive.

When I drag and drop my pictures am I looking at my pictures in elements organizer?
No, there are two ways to see your folders in PSE11 and PSE12 :
By default, it's the 'My Pictures' view. It shows a flat list of all the folders containing images registered in the catalog; all the folder of the last level, without the tree organization. You may have missed (like many, many users...) the 'Pictures' view which you obtain in clicking on the small yellow icon in the title bar of 'My Pictures'. You are shown all your folders and subfolders, all your different drives. It's very close to the folder view of Windows explorer, and you can do most of the operations you would do in the explorer.
You'll understand better if you take the time to play with the 'Pictures' view, where you can collapse or expand subfolders, or right click to show 'display all folders' when they are collapsed.
Let's say you have all your pictures under the default 'Pictures' folder of Win7. You should see the list of your drives in the lower part of the same left panel.
I suppose you don't want to change the default 'Pictures' location in Win7. If your external drive has the letter F:, you'll create a new master folder : 'F:/My Pictures bis' for instance. To test the process, you'll select one of your folders under Pictures, drag and drop on F:/My Pictures bis. Then you can check the result by viewing your pictures in different order, by testing your tags, albums etc. All should work exactly the same as before as long as your external drive is plugged in. (If it is not, you'll get 'missing files' warnings which will disappear if you plug in your external drive).
When you are satisfied with the process, you can move other folders (their subfolders will follow).
You could move only the upper level 'Pictures' folder of Win7 in a single step, but you'll feel more secure by doing this in several moves, since moving a big amount of files takes a long time (not longer than a move via the explorer,  moving a library of 150 GB like mine requires maybe 2 hours...)
Since you are on Win7, be sure to give all the access rigths to your external drive...
Another Windows trick : the catalog will remember and register the letter drive, F: in our example.
If you plug-in another  accessory in the meantime and the drive is now assigned G:, you'll have problem.
The best way to avoid such a case would be to assign a letter like M: so that your external drive will be recognized in all cases.

  • Moving picture from Adobe Photoshop Starter Edition 3.0 to a folder in MY PICTURES

What is a simple way to move a picture (or group of pictures) from Adobe Photoshop Starter Edition 3.0 to a folder in MY PICTURES? I do not have a PHD in computer science, but I am a Grandpa, so please make the directions simple. I have a PC with Windows XP. Thank you.

    Hi Chester,
Unfortunately with the SE version, it does NOT have a MOVE utility. The GOOD
news is that it will update itself on where you physically moved the
    picture.
Step 1. Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, Windows Explorer and locate
    the image that you wish to move;
    Step 2. Move the image to My Pictures per your question;
    Step 3. Open Adobe Photoshop Starter Edition;
Step 4. Click File, Reconnect All Missing Files.
That my friend should be it. Have a nice day.
    Cheers

  • Can not copy pictures from my library to folders I created

I have a lot of pictures in my Library - I only have one Library - the default.
Now I want to organize many/not all of the pictures in my library to specific folders/labeled to match the pictures.
I created some new folders that are labeled - then are not sub folders under the Library.
What I do is --- while I'm in the Library, I click 1x on the picture, copy - then I click on the specific folder, paste. The picture does not appear in my folder.
Would someone tell me what I'm going wrong - how to copy pictures from my Library to specific folders ?
Also --- I do backup my Library to an external drive, when I eventually get pictures in specific folders in iPhoto --- I must now choose those specific folders to backup in addition to my Library ? I use the backup software from OS X 10.6.x to run my backup's to external disk.
    Thanks,
    Bob

Now I want to organize many/not all of the pictures in my library to specific folders/labeled to match the pictures.
The easiest way to do this is using iPhoto - select the photos and export them (file menu==> export) to the folder you want
I created some new folders that are labeled - then are not sub folders under the Library.
What I do is --- while I'm in the Library, I click 1x on the picture, copy - then I click on the specific folder, paste. The picture does not appear in my folder.
This is not recommended -if you continue messing around inside the iPhoto library it is likely that you will change or move something and corrupt your library
Would someone tell me what I'm going wrong - how to copy pictures from my Library to specific folders ?
    Use the export command

Backup will backup exactly what you tell it to - only you know and have access to those settings

  • Moving photos from Ovi suite

Can someone please explain in simple terms how I can move all my photos from Ovi suite to a flash drive or direct to "My Pictures" on my computer?
If I simply uninstall Ovi suite, what will happen to the photos stored on it?

    Hey,
Ppl who have already used Nokia Photos application might have came acrss this scenario.  AFAIK this is how its supposed to wrk.  Bcause earlier i used Nokia Photos.
The following is wht i thnk.
The photos that r syncd already with ur Nokia Ovi Suite, might be getting strd in some database, where whenver any new photos r gttng synchd, it wll compare this, if this has been synched earlier, if so, it will not sync those photos again.  This may b designed to avoid duplicates and redundancy.  This i faced earlier when i was using Nokia Lifeblog(PC application) and Nokia Photos.  If u google, u may find similar issues in our discussion forum.

  • Moving pictures from laptop to iPad

Trying to move pictures from laptop to the iPad. Made the mistake of putting them here in the first place, but now I have the adapter to connect to my tv so we can show pictures to folks on a bigger screen.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Moving pictures from one iphoto library to another

Hello all, I have a simple question.
I have all of my pictures on one computer in an iphoto library. I have a new imac (it's quite lovely) and I would like to move all my pictures to that mac. Which folders do I need to copy and move to my new computer? I would like to keep albums, etcetera.
Normally I would just transfer all my stuff from one mac to the other and voila, it's done, but I have done that so many times that there is a problem with my User info and it has followed me from several computers now, so I am starting fresh. I would like to keep my pictures however. Which also leads me to my next question. Could someone suggest a good way to archive my 40 some-odd gigs of pictures?
    thanks in advance.

Re: Copying the Library - Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions in the Library.
Re: Archiving: There is no permanent storage solution for digital material. Yes DVDs do offer longevity but even the most expensive are prone to problems eventually. The cheaper ones sooner! To my mind the best option is to have a variety of solutions, on- and off-site. Optical media, Hard Disks, Online Storage solutions should all be used - and more importantly - checked regularly.

  • Moving pictures from the camera roll.

I have various pictures on the camera roll that I want to move into albums. Some of the pics were taken using the iPad and others downloads from e.mail. I can't seem to find a way. Nik

    Nik,
You can create albums as long as you are running the latest iOS software 5.0 or above. Please note that by placing photos into albums you are not moving them but simply sorting them. They still remain in the camera-roll. Think of the camera-roll as your entire library of all your photos put together. Likewise if you delete a photo fgrom within an album it will not be deleted from the camera-roll only from the album. To delete a photo off your device you must delete it from inside the camera-roll.
To create albums open the Photos app and switch to album view. Tap the camera roll album select the photos you want and click the action button you'll be given the option to place the selected photos into a new or existing album. You can also create a blank album first and add photos to it later.

  • Moving Pictures from iphoto to finder?

I recently just decided to stop using iPhoto. So I moved all my images from iphoto to seperate folder in Finder. Now ... did I just a copy of the images? Because all the pictures are still in iPhoto.. I want to know if it's now okay to delete them from iphoto altogether? I think the only thing I would want in there is my Photo Stream.. I don't want two copies on my computer because this would be taking up more of my hard drives space, correct?

Lightroom (and Aperture) are apps for professional photographers to manage their photo libraries. I'd suggest until you learn how to master iPhoto that  you stay with that app. Get your self a book on iPhoto or take a class and you will find how powerful and easy to use it is. However until you understand it you may continue to be confused and make poor decisions. A good place to start is using the free resources you have available such as:
    http://www.apple.com/support/mac-apps/iphoto/
    or use the iPhoto forum.

  • Moving pictures from iPhoto to desktop having permission problems?

Just installed iPhoto new as part of a brand new instal of SL.
Before I could drag a picture to the desktop and change the name etc.
    Now I get a message:
You don’t have permission to rename the item “IMG_3909.JPG”.
I am on the latest version, 8.1.2.
Wen I try to trash it, it wants a password.
In the permissions I do have access to read and write to it, so I am puzzled.
    Is this a finder issue?
    Why and how to fix?
    Thanks.

    Good morning
    samdurose wrote:
That sounds very strange. It sounds like you don't have permissions to write to files on your own desktop.
    Indeed. However I do.
    Permissions are:
    (Me) read and write
    staff read only
    everyone read only
The first step with anything permissions-related is to open Disk Utility and repair permissions on your boot drive. Give that a go and let us know how it goes?
    Did that to begin with.
Now, you say it's a brand new install: where did your iPhoto library come from? What are the permissions on it? Perhaps you moved it over from your backup or old mac in such a way as to mung its permissions.
Library came from my old computer that had the same permissions.
    Now it has:
    (Me) read and write
    staff read and write
    everyone read and write

  • It doesnt work moving pictures from my pc to my ipad via icloud

So, i put the pictures in the uploadfolder. not working. put them in the photostreamfolder. not working.
The other way. From ipad to pc - no problems

If you want to have multiple albums on the iPad, then you need to select all the folders that you want and sync them together - therefore they must all be directly off the same parent folder. Not including a folder in the sync is the way that you delete an album (folder) from the iPad - as you've found out.

  • Making book with aperture..when moving pictures from book, where do they go? I wanted to move a picture to another page

I am making a book using Aperture.  During the production process, when I want to replace a picture, or move it to another location in the book, as I click and move it out of the book, it "disappears". (In I Photo 11 it returned to my list of available pictures).
Where are these pictures?  How can I retrieve them?

    Hello,
how do you "click and move the image out of the book"?
If I have added an image to a book page and want it removed and maybe added to a different page, then I ctrl-click the image on the book page and select "cut content", delete  or "copy content" (or I select it and press the delete key). Then the image will reappear in the film strip below the book pages and I can drag it to a different page (or I can paste it directy onto a different page if I selectes "copy..".
If I on the other hand deleted an image from the film strip below the book, then the image will be gone from the book completely. How is this different for you?

  • Moving pictures from V6.0.6 to  V8.1.2

Just got a new MBP and want to move my picture library to the new Machine, without using the migration assistant.
How do I best do this so I get all my albums and files and pictures form the 6 version in the 8 version. See I have for example in the Library section (left hand top when iPhoto is open) pictures sorted by year. Will it import that or how to import that?
If I just hit Import it looses al those files.
    Thanks.

You can rename a Roll using the Info Pane (lower left, click on the 'i' button). Do it before updating.
    Note also:
With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

What type of email account are you using?
How did you move the emails? Via dragging/dropping or right-clicking and selecting Move? Please try both methods to see the result.
I used to see a similar issue caused by a problematic add-in. Please try starting Outlook in safe mode to see if this issue continues. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
