Moving Playlists from iTunes library to iPod

It seems to me that I should be able to do this by just dragging Playlists to an iPod icon. The problem is, I don't see any iPod icons. My iPod Nano is now plugged in, but I don't see an iPod icon anywhere. Yes, I do have a column to the left in my iTunes window and, no, no iPod icon appears in the DEVICES section when I click on Finder.

I'm making progress. First, I found that I could retrieve the iPod icon by turning my iMac off and then on again (I wish there was an easier, faster way). Secondly, I was reminded why I hadn't been able to drag Playlists to my iPod icon in the past: the distance was too great. By this I mean that as long as the iPod icon and the Playlist to be moved are both on the same screen at the same time, there is no difficulty in dragging the Playlist to the iPod icon. However, if the Playlist is too far down the list of Playlists to appear on the same screen with the iPod icon, it can't be done. At least I don't know how to do it. I once asked for instructions for adjusting the font size the iTunes window, but that apparently can't be done. Other than that, I don't know how I can drag Playlists that are too far down the list of Playlists to the iPod icon. Does anyone?

  • Moving music from iTunes library to iPod

I need to find out how to import music from my iTunes music library to my iPod nano. Why is this suddenly such an ordeal. I haven't had any trouble doing this for years until the last few months.

I cannot move a newly purchased song to either my iPod or iPhone. I have been loading up my iPod for years (different iPods, but same procedure) and now I cannot. I have playlists set up but cannot move the music to MY playlists. I did this successfully as recently as three weeks ago. I feel I have tried just about everything. What am I missing?

how do I transfer playlists from itunes to my ipod on the new itunes format?

I had the same question. Someone answered perfectly here https://discussions.apple.com/message/20575126#20575126
The answer was click View > Show sidebar. Devices and playlists will display in the left sidebar once again. Copy playlists into iPod as usual.

  • HOW DO I CREATE A 30GB SHUFFLE PLAYLIST FROM ITUNES LIBRARY TO FILL MY IPOD

is it possible to generate a playlist lets call it, that is like a shuffle playlist but able to fill an ipod? where would i find the command like, " fill ipod randomly from itunes library"? wouldn't it be great !! just hook up the pod and have it filled with random songs from your library. every day you could have a new playlist, but a really big and different one.
    g4 power mac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Just create a new Smart playlist.
Limit it to 27.5GB at Random.
Also, set it to My rating is not One Star.
Rate songs you do not want on the iPod to One star.
Connect the iPod & select it as the Source.
Go to the Music tab and set to Sync only this playlist.
To change the music, select this playlist in iTunes.
Select all songs and press Delete. It will fill up again at random.

When I  transfer music from itunes library to my ipod touch, it says sync in progress on ipod touch, however, the songs don't show up on ipod touch. I have transferred songs in the past with no problem.  Not sure what is different now or what I'm doing wrong-I am very new at this and any help is greatly appreciated.

How is your iPod configured to sync music? In other words, what options and configurations do you have enabled from under your iPod's Summary and Music tabs in iTunes?
Maybe have a look at this article as well to verify your iPod is set up for syncing music.

  • Moving playlist from iTunes to iPhone

I'm sure this is a silly question, but it baffles me despite nearly a decade of experience using iTunes and iPhones on previous devices.
My question is simply -- how do I copy a playlist from iTunes to my iPhone? iTunes Match somehow seems to to be getting in the way but I'm not sure how or why.
I'm using a new iMac and iPhone 4S. (Will leave out the details of the other devices I'll try to sync once this is done...) Previously, I had iTunes on an old PC and an iPhone 3, and everything worked beautifully: I created playlists, manually selected which I wanted on my phone, and sync'd perfectly. Now I have iTunes Match, with some 12,000 songs sync'd, and I thought this would make my life easier. Instead, I'm totally unable to create playlists for my phone.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,

Not sure if this will answer your question or not (or if it's even the best solution):
    1) Plug in your iPhone to your computer
    2) When iTunes pulls up, click on your iPhone (under the "Devices" section on the left side) and create a new playlist (name it whatever you want)
    3) In the playlist you've created in iTunes, drag and drop the songs to the new playlist you created on your iPhone
Should automatically sync it.  Again, like I said, might not be the best solution, but it worked for me.  I'm sure there's an easier way of doing it.

  • TS1717 itunes continually crashes when I try to add a song to ipod playlist from itunes library.

Since I've updated to itunes 10 recently, itunes crashes everytime I try to add a song from my library into an ipod playlist. This has never happened before and seems to be related to the recent update. Please advise.

Start by updating iTunes, you can download it from here -> http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If that doesn't do it, try the suggestions in this Apple doc -> iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins

  • Please help! Deleting songs from itunes library & updating ipod

Must I keep all albums I wish to upload into my ipod on my computer? I have the ipod settings set to automatic and if I delete the album from the library (completely from my pc) the next time I connect my ipod the album gets deleted from the ipod.
I tried setting the ipod to manual but then I can't figure out how to update my ipod with the songs I want to add. It really doesn't make sense for me to have to fill up my hard drive with all of this music just to keep the songs on my ipod. I really hope someone can please tell me otherwise.

If it's on Manual update, you simply drag the songs from the library to the iPod in iTunes.
If you wan tot remove music, right click on it and select Clear. Do this with the iPod selected not a playlist on the iPod.

  • I'm dumb, can't figure how to get playlist from itunes library into my itou

Ok, I have looked and looked and did search. I want to copy a few playlists from my itunes library into my itouch. I was told they would transfer when I synched, they didn't. Drag and drop does not do the job. What am I missing? I am sure something very very simple. HELP. I do NOT want to do the playlist again in my itouch from scratch, as I have almost 1,000 songs to search through.
There has got to be an easier way.

"Synch" is the process whereby files get copied from the iTunes library to the iPod. If your playlists did not copy, what actually did happen when you synched?

  • Help! how do i dowload a playlist from itunes onto my iPod?

So i have burnt some songs from a previous itunes onto a disc and downloaded them onto my new itunes, it wont let me dowload the playlist onto the iPod. How can i do this? Please help?

What happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
