Moving Playlists To iPod

I was never big into playlists but have recently started building some. The issue is the length of the lists in the source pane. If I scroll down to the bottom of my list of playlists in the source pane my iPod obviously moves up out of view. How do I go about getting my last playlist on the list onto my iPod if it has moved out of view?? Is there a way to scroll the source pane while holding onto a playlist?? I have read some people have hundreds of playlists, how do you get them all on the iPod?? Is the only way to do this is to let it auto synch?? I hope not, I want to manage iTunes and the iPod manually. If this does not make sense I will try to explain a little better.

This has not been working for me. I figured that was the way its supposed to work, definitely the most obvious. If I scroll all the way to the bottom to my "Widespread Panic" playlist the iPod moves up out of the source pane and I am stuck just holding my playlist. If I try to move the playlist closer to the top of the list it ends up getting dropped into another playlist.
I thought of this method of auto synching but you have to have the iPod plugged in to make the changes, there are about a 1000 songs in iTunes I do not want on my iPod and was trying to avoid this.
As far as the folder goes, once you open it wont the list just reappear and I will be back to square one??

  • Moving playlist between Ipods

    Hello,
I have a Ipod Photo 30gb... I just purchased a Nano 2gb. Is there a way that I can transfer the playlists that are my Ipod Photo to my Nano?
How would I move the playlists from one Ipod to another?
    Thanks in advance.

You can't move songs or playlists directly from one iPod to another. However you can move them from the first iPod back into iTunes and then update the new iPod from there. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • Ipod control folder (f drive) pops up when moving songs on ipod playlist

Every time I reorganize a song on my playlist, the ipod control folder pops up (showing my f drive - usb port). Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you. Unfortunately that doesn't solve my problem of being able to rearrange directly on the shuffle list (which I should be able to).

  • Cannot Drag Playlist to iPods

After moving to new computer with Vista, cannot drag playlists to iPods, as it freezes up every time as soon as the playlist moves over the ipod icon that you are dragging it to. We've installed all updates to Vista and iTunes, tried creating new playlists and dragging them instead, and restoring iPods to factory settings, as we thought we might have corrupted one by ejecting it incorrectly. We are able to drag small numbers of songs at a time from the library to the iPod though. This occurs whether we are using a nano or a 30 gb iPod.

I have this same problem with iTunes 9.0.2. Can't drag and drop anything. Sometimes rebooting helps, sometimes it doesn't. Of course you can work around it -- right click as someone mentioned, or if you're creating a playlist, File>Create New Playlist from Selection. But it's a pain, and I hate the fact that I'm not getting the functionality I paid for. Wish someone (Apple, where are you?) could solve this problem.

  • Can't sync playlists from ipod touch to new computer

Can't Sync Playlists from iPod Touch to New Library
I just upgraded from an old Pentium computer to a new Dell XPS 18 running Windows 8.1.  Downloaded latest version of iTunes to the new computer, then successfully transferred library content from the old computer to the new one via the external hard drive method.  All material -- iTunes purchases, music ripped from CDs, a movie, even MP3 files purchased long ago from another source -- transferred successfully; everything plays on the new computer just fine.
My problem is that the "old" playlists didn't transfer over.  After connecting my iPod Touch to the new computer, I verified that the iPod has the latest version of iOS, and its content (including the old/original playlists) displays in the window on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen.  The really frustrating thing is that I can find no way to transfer the old playlists to my new iTunes library.  I've tried dragging and dropping, selecting and pasting, and exploration of all the options menus, but no luck.  Creating a new playlist in the new library and then clicking on the "Add To" button opens up a window into which to drop dragged songs/folders from the new library listing, but simultaneously closes the left-hand display window with all of my iPod's current playlists depicted.
I appear successfully to have backed up my iPod to the new computer, but all the sync menu options are grayed out.  When I tried clicking on the Sync button, I got a warning that syncing to the new library would erase everything from the old library -- presumably obliterating my playlists with it.  I have about a dozen different playlists, some of them with several hundred songs, drawn from a library of a few thousand individual items.  Is there some means of importing/transferring the old playlists to the new computer/library, so that I don't manually have to drag and drop hundreds and hundreds of songs into a new set of playlists?  Am I overlooking something really obvious or simple?  Can I safely turn on Home Sharing and then import or paste the old playlists into the new computer's library.  I don't think I'm too much of a Luddite, but given the size of my library I'm very leery of turning on Home Sharing (to the old Pentium computer) after I've successfully transferred over many GBs of content from the old machine to the new.
    Thanks very much --

  • How to create a playlist on iPod nano gen6?

in all manuals it says and shows go to playlist icon, but I don't have such icon. and in iTunes it only offers me genius mixes, can't find any way to create my own playlist. tried google etc, but no results

    Hi kawarik,
I found some information on how to create playlists on iPod nano (6th generation) here:
    iPod nano User Guide
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_nano_6thgen_User_Guide.pdf
The information starts on page 25:
    Creating and editing playlists
    Create a playlist:
1 On the Home screen, tap Music, and then tap Playlists.
2 Flick down, and then tap Add.
3 Tap a category (Songs, Albums, Podcasts, and so on), and then tap the items you want to add.
Don’t tap Done until you’ve added everything you want to include in the playlist.
4 Swipe left to continue adding content.
You can add content from any category. For example, you can mix podcasts with songs in a
    single playlist.
5 When you finish, tap Done.
The new playlist is named New Playlist 1 (or New Playlist 2, and so on). The next time you sync, you can change the title in iTunes. When you sync again, the playlist title on iPod nano is updated.
Since I am quoting this article out of context, I also located the section on multitouch gestures (page 11) to help with step 2 above:
    Flick
Flick your finger quickly up or down to scroll rapidly. You can wait for scrolling to stop,
or touch anywhere on the screen to stop it immediately. Touching the screen won’t choose
    or activate anything.
In some lists, such as Playlists, you can flick down to show editing controls at the top.
    Cheers!

  • "Recently added" playlist on iPod Touch problem

I don't know what happened but suddenly my recently added playlist on iPod Touch stopped sorting my songs as they were added (by date) they are all random now. It's pretty annoying since sometimes i just want to listen the the previously imported songs and it's impossible to find them.
Now, as for the recently added playlist on my iTunes, they appear sorted the way i like them.
Does anyone know how can I tell my iPod to sort my songs this way?
    Thanks

This is a known bug with the 3.1.x OS. As a workaround, either go into the playlist definition and un-check "Live Updating", or you can add some criteria that intentionally breaks Live Updating (e.g. add the criteria "Playlist Is Music", where "Music" is the general iTunes folder for music items).

  • Burn playlist from ipod nano  urgent

    ipod nano too full
need to take a few playlist off ipod
they will not drag to library
    or other playlist
i tried to burn them to cd
    but it wont highlight
i tryed new playlist but songs wont drag over

You would have to move the songs onto your computer from your iPod first and then burn them from your computer. iTunes cannot burn the songs if they are only on the iPod.
You can use free software such as this to move the music from iPod to computer...

  • Cant copy a playlist to ipod

Cant copy a playlist to ipod (classic & others) from latest Itunes 11.0.1.12 Windows XP
Draging and dropping a playlist or even a song from a playlist doesn't bring up the RHS 'transfer Window'
Everything else (eg. songs, albums, even radio) all bring up the window - obviously you copy a radio station but it does, at least, bring up the window pane
    Any ideas?
    Many Thanks.
    Alex.
    Additional :
Both  Ipods set to "Manually Manage Music". Tried resetting Smaller one.
I can happily transfer a song, an album, even an entire Genre, but nothing Playlist related.

You can get the files off the iPod back onto your PC.

  • How to add playlist to ipod

how can I add playlist to ipod nano

    You can't.
You should create playlists in iTunes and then transfer them to the iPod.
If you need to change it, do it in iTunes and then transfer again to the iPod.
Do you mean an On-the-Go playlists?
They only transfer from the iPod to iTunes when in Auto-sync.

    it can be very helpful!
also, why ipod classic doesn't support hebrew language?
    Thanks.

  • Adding playlists to ipod creates duplicates

When I add a playlist to my iPod nano, and the playlist contains songs that are already on my iPod, iTunes copies the song to my iPod a second time, so I have 2 copies of those songs on the iPod.
-the iPod is set up to manually manage songs & playlists
-the iPod is set to convert all songs to 128kbps AAC when adding songs
-10.6.4, iTunes 9.2.1, iPod has most recent software.
    anyone else experiencing this?

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
Are you certain you're getting duplicate track on the iPod, or is it just copying them over again? iTunes manages the transfers whether auto-syncing or manually managing not the iPod. When you manually manage you know best - if you drag on a bunch of tracks iTunes will just do as it's told, replacing exisiting copies with new ones if that's what you tell it to do. It's actually much easier to sync with selected playlists. If you update a playlist or some information about a track this will be automatically reflected next time you sync.

  • Can I create Playlist in IPod Shuffle.

    Dear All,
Kindly let me know if I will be able to create playlist in Ipod Shuffle , If Yes then how do I access Playlist in ipod Shuffle during Playback ?
    Thank you.

You CAN create multiple playlists in iTunes and then load them onto the shuffle BUT you CAN'T select which playlist to play while using the shuffle... you can only play music serially (eg play-in-order mode) or randomly (eg shuffle mode).
